In the other game, five times
winners BRAZIL with
29 votes faced BELGIUM
with 17. Brazil had beaten Mexico to reach the quarter-finals while Belgium who
went 2-0 down against Japan, they won 3-2 in the second round games. The first
half was evenly matched with the Belgium defence keeping the Brazilian’s at
bay. The Belgium’s then kept slight pressure on Brazil and the link in the
chain finally went as in the 13th minute when a Belgium took a corner
struck Fernandinho's arm and flew into the net, the 10th own goal of this World
Cup. The Brazilian’s had a couple of
chances and even hit the post which
could of drew them level but in the 31st minute, Belgium’s De Bruyne
scored a lovely goal to put them 2-0 up before half-time. After a brilliant
first half the game changed in the second half with Brazil pressing the Belgium
defence but the attacks ended with poor finishing. Brazil did finally get
through their defence and scored in the 76th minute by Renato
Augusto with another good strike. That is where the game ended with Belgium
winning 2-1. Brazil finished on a score of 8 goals which is their second lowest
score since Italia 1990 where they finished on just four goals. Belgium march
on with a total of 14 goals which is their best score to date. Belgium will
play France on 10th July.

France to play Belgium in Semi-Finals
In the first of the
Quarter-Finals, FRANCE
with 22 votes played URUGUAY with 7 votes. France had beaten Argentina
to get here and Uruguay where winners against Portugal. The game started off
with Uruguay keeping the French team in their own half but confidence grew in
the France team and things slowly turned around. A late goal in the 40th
minute with a lovely header from Varane put the French in front for half-time.
In the start of the second half Uruguay had a couple of chances to get level,
but it was not to be as the French scored a second goal in the 61st
minute where Griezmann hit the ball only for the Uruguay goalkeeper to drop it
into the goal. Uruguay started to get a bit grumpy but the French held on to a
2-0. France have taken their goals tally to 9 goals while Uruguay picked up
their only blank score sheet and go home with 7 goals which is their best score
with Golden
Goals as they only scored four goals in Brazil.
