In Week Eight of the competition and this weekend we had our seventh
winner of the season, winning on our second highest total to date with 14
goals. The £6 cash prize money was won by just one player and it went to COLIN WEBB.
Colin has been with Golden
Goals for a total of eleven Seasons. He first started with us back in
the 2007/08 Season which was our Silver
Jubilee where he finished in 77th place out of 90 with a total
of 227 goals. Last season he finished in the winning frame in 21st
place with a total of 302 goals taking home over £12 in cash. This season Colin
has only kept Manchester City from last season. This weekends score is his
personal best and his best teams are both Manchester City and Sunderland as
they have both scored 19 goals each. We can see Colin at his highest position

MIDWEEK GOALS JACKPOT
We had twenty-seven
players that picked up some more midweek goals this week for the race for the
cash. But it has once again remained much the same as last week. GRAHAM HARRIS is still top but with a
total of 25 goals as he picks up four goals from West Brom. He has Hearts,
Tottenham and West Brom. In second place and now nine goals behind Graham we have GARY BROWN and JOHN DAVIES both with 16 goals each. In third place we still
have MARTIN CORBETT with his 15 goals.
In fourth place on 14 goals we have RYAN
WILLIAMS. In joint fifth place all on 13 goals we still have DANIEL GOODSON, JUNE TIGHE and ANN WELLARD but also JAMES BLYTH and TERRY WARWICK this week.
WEEKEND
RESULTS
Even a better
weekend for goals this weekend as our average score for the weekend shot up
from five last weekend to 7 goals this weekend. We had just two of our teams without
a game over the weekend with another fifteen teams failing to score any goals.
The highest
score that we had was five goals and we had two teams that picked them up. In
the English Premiership MANCHESTER CITY won 5-0 away to Cardiff to take their goals tally up to 19
goals. City have now scored in all of their six league games. This is City’s
twenty-fifth season with us and they are one of our original teams that started
with us. They were our 15th team to join the competition. They hold
the record for the highest amount of goals scored in a season with 137 in the
2013/14 Season. Last season they scored a total of 123 goals. Over the seasons
they have netted a total of 1972 goals which gives them an average score of 78
goals per season. They have a total of 81 votes which is their highest to date.
RANGERS from the
Scottish Premiership picked up their highest score with a 5-1 home win against
St Johnstone. Rangers have scored nine goals in two games and they are now on a
total of 18 goals. Rangers also started in our first season where they finished
on a total of 97 goals and they were our fourth Scottish team to be voted in. This
is their thirty-fifth season with us and their highest score came in the
1992/93 Season with 126 goals. Last season they finished with 98. Over the
season they have scored a total of 3334 goals which gives them an average score
of 95 goals per season. They have a total of 17 votes this season and they have
just one blank score sheet to date out of seven games played.
PREMIERSHIP
LIVERPOOL have moved to the top of the
Premiership after they won 3-0 at home to Southampton. Liverpool have now
scored in all of their six games and they are now on a total of 14 goals. Manchester
City are now in second place with CHELSEA down to third. They drew
0-0 away to WEST HAM and that is their first blank of the season. West Ham
picked up their third. TOTTENHAM won 2-1 away to Brighton and they have
also scored in all of their six games. Tottenham are now on a total of 12
goals. BOURNEMOUTH picked up their second blank of the season as they
lost 4-0 away to Burnley. It’s 10 goals for FULHAM as they drew 1-1 at home to Watford.
LEICESTER CITY have kept their 100% goal scoring run going to seven
games after they won 3-1 at home to Huddersfield. Leicester are now on a total
of 15 goals. MANCHESTER UNITED drew 1-1 at home to WOLVES after
being one up at half time. United are now on 9 goals while Wolves hit goal
number 8. ARSENAL won 2-0 at home to EVERTON and they are now on
12 goals while Everton picked up their first blank score sheet.
CHAMPIONSHIP
LEEDS
UNITED have remained top after
they lost their first league game 2-1 at home to BIRMINGHAM. Leeds are
now on 18 goals while Birmingham are now on 7. WEST BROM are up to third
place after they won 2-0 at home to Millwall. West Brom have taken their goals
total to 25. ASTON VILLA are now on a total of 16 goals as they lost 2-1
at home to Sheffield Wednesday. After a two game dry spell for goals, DERBY
won 3-1 at home to BRENTFORD. Derby are now on 19 goals to Brentford’s 21.
IPSWICH drew 0-0 at home to Bolton and that is their fourth blank of the
season and just one goal in their last three games.They are now second from
bottom. SWANSEA drew 0-0 away to Middlesbrough and that is their sixth
of the season and now three in a row. NOTTINGHAM FOREST won 1-0 at home
to ROTHERHAM and they are now on 15 goals while Rotherham picked up
their fourth blank and now two in a row. HULL picked up their fourth
blank score sheet as they lost 3-0 away to Reading. STOKE lost 3-2
at home to BLACKBURN and they are now on 14 goals to Blackburn’s 20.
LEAGUE ONE
PETERBOROUGH
are back on top after
they won 4-2 away to Gillingham. Borough are now on a total of 24 goals. PORTSMOUTH
are back in second place after they drew 2-2 at home to WYCOMBE.
Portsmouth are now on 18 goals while Wycombe are on 12. SUNDERLAND have
moved up to third place after they won 4-1 at home to ROCHDALE.
Sunderland are now on 19 goals while Rochdale picked up goal number 17. ACCRINGTON
STANLEY are now on 13 goals as they win 2-1 at home to AFC Wimbledon. LUTON
picked up their third blank of the season after they drew 0-0 away to
Blackpool. BRISTOL ROVERS picked up their highest result of the season as they win 3-1 at home to COVENTRY. Rovers are now on 12 goals to Coventry’s
7. CHARLTON won 2-1 at home to bottom of the table PLYMOUTH.
Charlton are now on 13 goals while Plymouth after a three game dry spell, hit
goal number 8. SCUNTHORPE are on 14 goals as they win 1-0 at home to SHREWSBURY
who picked up their fourth blank score sheet. SOUTHEND won 1-0 at home to Fleetwood and
that is goal number 12 for them.
LEAGUE TWO
LINCOLN
CITY are still top here this
weekend and three points clear after they won 2-1 at home to MK DONS. Lincoln
are now on a total of 23 goals while the Dons are on 11. EXETER are still
in second place after they won 3-1 at home to Cheltenham. Exeter are now on 19
goals. MANSFIELD drew 1-1 away to Cambridge and that is their 17th
goal of the season. NOTTS COUNTY drew 0-0 away to Northampton and that
is their third blank of the season. OLDHAM drew 3-3 at home to
Colchester and they are now on a total of 15 goals. SWINDON won 3-0 away
to Yeovil and they are on 16 goals.
SCOTTISH LEAGUES
In the Premiership, HEARTS are still top after they drew 0-0 at home to Livington.
Hearts picked up their first blank score sheet after a goal run of ten games. With
Rangers moving up to second place, HIBERNINAN are in third place as they
win 3-0 away to Dundee. Hibs kept their 100% scoring record going to seven
games. CELTIC have fallen down to
sixth place after they lost their first league game 2-1 away to Kilmarnock
after going a goal up. Celtic are now on 9 goals. ABERDEEN won 1-0 at home to Motherwell to pick up goal number 9
while HAMILTON won 3-0 at home to St
Mirren and they are now on 11 goals.
In the Championship, AYR UNITED are top after they won 2-0 away to ALLOA. Ayr are on 26
goals while Alloa picked up their fifth blank and now two in a row. ROSS COUNTY
drew 0-0 at home to Inverness and that is their second blank of the season and
now two in a row for them. FALKIRK are
bottom of the table as they lost 2-0 at home to Dundee Utd. Falkirk picked up
their sixth blank and now just two goals in their last four games.
In League One, RAITH ROVERS are in second place as they drew 1-1 at home to
Montrose to pick up goal number 17 while DUMBARTON
drew 1-1 away to Airdrie and they are on 12 goals. STENHOUSEMUIR lost 2-1 at home to Arbroath to put them bottom of
the table with a total of 9 goals.
In League Two, PETERHEAD won 1-0 at home to Berwick to keep second place in the
league with a total of 13 goals.

Our Best
teams this week are HIBERNIAN and LEICESTER CITY after scoring in all of their seven League and Cup games with both
having a total of 15 goals each.
Our worst
team is SWANSEA this weekend as they have picked up a total of six blank
score sheets out of ten league and cup games played this season.They have
scored just two goals in their last six games.
Our highest
goal scorers in our 36th Season are WEST BROM who won 7-1 at home to
Queens Park Rangers in their fourth league game of the season in Week Three.
GARY BROWN has moved back to the top this weekend, in this two horse race, making it his second stay at the top for the
season. Gary picked up a total of eleven goals all coming from the weekend. His
teams are once again Ayr United and Manchester City and Sunderland . Graham
Harris is now two goals behind him as his combination picked him up four goals
in midweek and another four goals at the weekend. His teams are Hearts,
Tottenham and West Brom.
At the other end at 133 we have our
very first lady to stay there this season and they are Sarah Marshall who becomes our sixth player to stay there. Sarah
picked up just three goals from Aberdeen, Celtic and Manchester United.
