Week Twenty-Six

Here we are with Week Twenty-Six of  the competition and we are back with our normal weekend cash prize money of £5 once again. The cash went to MARK GREOGRY on a score of 12 goals which is his second win of the season. Mark had a shared win back in Week Thirteen with nine goals. He has picked up another three blank score sheets since then  at the weekends which now gives him a total of five. Celtic is still his best team. His teams are once again

100 MIDWEEK GOALS JACKPOT

All but one of us have managed to pick up some midweek goals again this week with another small change in the leading pack this week as we now have a total of 34 of our players are now over the half way mark for the cash. It was PATRICK O’DONOGHUE and ABBEY NEWMAN who picked up the most amount of goals with a total of 10 each. Patrick has Liverpool, Manchester City and West Brom. The goals have taken his midweek total to 50. Abbey’s teams are Hearts, Liverpool and Manchester City and she is now on a total of 45.

We still have joint leaders this week with JAMES BLYTH and NICK HORTON remaining there and now with HAYLEY ADKINS who has moved back up from second place. All three are on a total of 61 goals. In second place up from three we now have COLIN WEBB on a total of 60 goals. In third place we still have TOBY BICKNELL our 2014/15 Champion and CHRIS NUNN now on a total of 59 goals. In fourth place we still have SIMON DICKINSON and (me) STEVE REEVE we are now joined with KEITH THOMSON up from five. We are all on a total of 58 goals. In fifth place with a total of 57 goals we have RICK WOOD our 2007/08 Champion  down from fourth place with CHRIS DICKER moving up from sixth place. MARK GREGORY moves back in to the race. In sixth place this week we have FIONA CARHTY moving down from five with a total of 56 goals. 

WEEKEND RESULTS

Due to the very bad weather that we have had in the UK this weekend we had just 36 of our teams in action and out of them 10 failed to score any goals. It was not a very good weekend for goals this week due to many of our teams out of action. But the average score of three goals from last weekend did move up to 5 goals this weekend. So if you did better than that, well done.

The highest result that we had came from the Scottish Premiership where champions CELTIC won 5-0 at home against Greenock Morton in the SCOTTISH CUP. The goals have taken their goals total to 84 and a goal run of eighteen games. 

PREMIER LEAGUE

ARSENAL are still top of the league after they won 3-2 at home against MANCHESTER UNITED. Arsenal are now on a total of 49 goals and now just 5 points in front. United are on a total of 44 goals and a goal run of fifteen games. Second place MANCHESTER CITY won 3-0 at home to Wolves and are now on a total of 62 goals. NEWCASTLE are still in third place after they drew 0-0 away to CRYSTAL PALACE. Newcastle picked up their 7th blank of the season while Palace picked up their 10th and now just two goals in their last five games. LIVERPOOL drew 0-0 at home to CHELSEA to get their 5th blank of the season while Chelsea picked up their 8th. BOURNEMOUTH drew 1-1 at home to Nottingham Forest and that is their 27th goal of the season. After a two game dry spell for goals, LEICESTER CITY are on a total of 35 goals as they drew 2-2 at home against BRIGHTON. Brighton are on a total of 48 goals and a goal run of six games. It’s 30 goals for ASTON VILLA after they won 1-0 away to Southampton. WEST HAM won 2-0 at home against EVERTON and they are on a total of 20 goals. Everton picked up their 8th blank of the season. LEEDS UNITED drew 0-0 at home to Brentford and they have now had a total of seven blank score sheets. 

CHAMPIONSHIP

Burnley are still at the top here and 5 points in front of  Sheffield United in second place.  

In the Play-Offs WATFORD are still in third place after they drew 1-1 at home to Rotherham. Watford are on a total of 34 goals. NORWICH are now up to fifth place after they won 4-2 away to Coventry and they have taken their goals total to 44. MIDDLESBROUGH are down to sixth place after they lost 2-0 away to SUNDERLAND and after a goal run of twelve games Brough have picked up their 7th blank of the season. Sunderland are on a total of 43 goals.

Meanwhile SWANSEA drew 1-1 away to QPR to pick up their 44th goal of the season and a goal run of eight games now. READING picked up their 9th blank of the season after they lost 4-0 away to Stoke. It’s 40 goals for LUTON after they won 2-0 away to Wigan. Luton have now scored in all of their last eight games. 

LEAGUE ONE

Top of the table PLYMOUTH won 4-2 at home to Cheltenham and they have taken their goals tally to 52. SHEFFIELD WEDNESDAY are still in second place as they won 1-0 at home to Fleetwood and picked up their 59th goal of the season and a goal run of six games now.   

In the Play-Offs we have IPSWICH are still in third place as they lost 2-1 away to OXFORD UNITED. Ipswich are on a total of 60 goals while Oxford are on 41. DERBY are still in fourth place after they won 3-1 at home to Bolton and they have taken their goals tally to 53.

Meanwhile FOREST GREEN ROVERS lost 2-1 at home to MK DONS. Rovers are on a total of 30 goals while MK Dons are on 38. 

LEAGUE TWO

Due to the bad weather, we only managed to have one of our teams in action here and they were GILLINGHAM. They are now second from bottom of the table but they won their 4th league game of the season as they win 2-0 away to Colchester. Gillingham are now on a total of 20. 

SCOTTISH LEAGUE RESULTS

In the SCOTTISH CUP fourth round, we had just six of our teams in action. Out of them three are through to the next round. We already know about Celtic’s comfortable 5-0 home win against Greenock Morton. But also through are RANGERS who won 1-0 away to St Johnstone and that is their 58th goal of the season and a goal run of nineteen games. HEARTS won 3-0 away to HIBERNIAN and are now on a total of 45 goals. Hibs picked up their 8th blank of the season. Teams that are out of the cup are ALLOA who lost 2-1 at home to Falkirk. Alloa are on a total of 48 goals. STENHOUSEMUIR lost 3-1 at home to Livingston and they are on a total of 46 goals and they have now scored in all of their last twenty games.   

In League Two BONNYRIGG ROSE lost 4-0 away to Anna and that is their 6th blank of the season and now two games in a row. 

Our BEST three teams this week

 Our WORST three teams are 

EVERTON (18) GILLINGHAM (20) WEST HAM (20) Total of 58 goals 

Our best performing team are now STENHOUSEMUIR as they have now scored in all of their last 20 league/cup games played. They have a total of 46 goals. That gives them an average score of 1.7 goals per game. 

Our worst performing team is GILLINGHAM this weekend as they have picked up 19th blank score sheets out of 34 League/Cup games played. 

Our highest goal scorers in our 40th Season are CELTIC who won 9-0 away to Dundee Utd in the league and LIVERPOOL who won 9-0 at home to Bournemouth in the league both from Week Five

Our 2010/11 Champion TONY GUY with his second selection, has remained at the top for his 13th consecutive weekend. Tony picked up a total of 13 goals this week from Arsenal, Celtic and Sheffield Wednesday and is now just 2 goals in front. Mark Gregory has moved back in to second place this weekend. Mark picked up a total of 20 goals from his combination of Celtic, Manchester City and Norwich.  

At the other end at 108 we still have SANDRA NICHOLLS as she picked up just 4 goals. Sandra’s teams are Aston Villa, Crystal Palace and Leicester City. Sandra has now been here for a total of 13 weeks throughout the season..
