Week Twenty-Three

Here we are with Week Twenty-Three of  the competition and we will soon have all of our teams fixtures back next week. So once again there is no cash prize money to win this weekend. It was DAVE WOODS who picked up the most number of goals at the weekend with 7. They came from Arsenal, Charlton and Rangers.

100 MIDWEEK GOALS JACKPOT

All but one of us have managed to pick up some midweek goals this week with another small change in the leading pack this week as three of our players are now over the half way mark for the cash. It was CHRIS NUNN who picked up the most number of goals with a total of 14. They came from Liverpool, Manchester City and Middlesbrough. To start 2023 we still have HAYLEY ADKINS in the lead now with a total of 54 goals. Hayley has Aberdeen, Liverpool and Manchester City.  In second place we still have NICK HORTON now on a total of 53 goals. In third place we still have JAMES BLYTH now with a total of 50 goals. In fourth place up from five we have CHRIS NUNN with a total of 49 goals. In fifth place all with a total of 47 goals we still have TOBY BICKNELL our 2014/15 Champion and KEITH THOMSON but they are now joined with RICK WOOD our 2007/08 Champion  coming down from three, with GEOFF CARTHY. In sixth place down from four we have MARK GREGORY on a total of 46 goals.

WEEKEND RESULTS

This weekend just 33 of our teams in action on New Years Eve and New Years Day so here are their results.

PREMIER LEAGUE

ARSENAL are still top as we go into the New Year. They won 4-2 away to BRIGHTON. Arsenal have now scored in all of their seventeen games and they have a total of 41 goals. Brighton are on 34 goals. MANCHESTER CITY are in second place and with a total of 49 goals. They have now scored in all of their last eight games as they drew 1-1 at home to EVERTON. Everton picked up their 15th goal of the season. NEWCASTLE are in third place after they drew 0-0 at home to LEEDS UNITED. Newcastle have picked up their 5th blank score sheet to Leeds 6thMANCHESTER UNITED are now in fourth place after they won 1-0 away to Wolves. United are on a total of 30 goals. BOURNEMOUTH lost 2-0 at home to CYSTAL PALACE and picked up their 10th blank of the season and now three games in a row. Palace have taken their goals total to 19 goals. FULHAM won 2-1 at home to Southampton and they are on a total of 29 goals. TOTTENHAM  lost 2-0 at home to ASTON VILLA and picked up their 3rd blank score sheet. Villa have taken their goals tally to 25. It’s 20 goals for CHELSEA after they drew 1-1 away to Nottingham Forest. They had failed to score in their previous three games.

CHAMPIONSHIP

SUNDERLAND drew 1-1 away to Blackpool and they are on a total of 38 goals and a goal run of seven games. HUDDERSFIELD lost 2-1 at home against LUTON. Huddersfield have won two out of their last five league games and they are on a total of 25 goals. Luton are on a total of 33  goals. Top of the table PLYMOUTH won 3-1 at home against MK DONS. Plymouth are now on a total of 47 goals while MK Dons are on 36 goals. BRISTOL ROVERS are on 41 goals after they won 2-1 at home against Cheltenham. FOREST GREEN ROVERS lost 3-1 at home to Port Vale and they are on a total of 27 goals. OXFORD UNITED lost 1-0 at home to Exeter. Oxford picked up their 8th blank of the season. PETERBOROUGH picked up their 7th blank score sheet after they lost 3-0 at home to Wycombe. CHARLTON won 3-1 away to Portsmouth and they are now on a total of 46 goals. 

LEAGUE TWO

BRADFORD CITY won 3-2 at home against SALFORD CITY and they have taken their goals tally to 33 while Salford are on 31 goals. SWINDON lost 1-0 away to Colchester and that is their 10th blank of the season. STOCKPORT COUNTY lost 1-0 away to Grimsby and that is their 4th blank after a goal run of eight games. SUTTON UNITED won 2-1 at home to AFC WIMBLEDON. Sutton are on a total of 25 goals while Wimbledon are on 33 goals. MANSFIELD TOWN lost 2-1 away to Walsall and they are on a total of 36 goals.

SCOTTISH LEAGUE RESULTS

In League One ALLOA drew 0-0 at home to KELTY HEARTS. Alloa have picked up their 6th blank of the season while Kelty Hearts picked up their 11th.

In League Two STENHOUSEMUIR lost 3-1 away to Stirling and they are on a total of 42 goals and they have now scored in all of their last seventeen games.

Our WORST three teams are

EVERTON (15) WEST HAM (15) GILLINGHAM (16) Total of 46 goals

Our best performing team are now ARSENAL as they have now scored in all of their last 17 league/cup games played. They have a total of 41 goals. That gives them an average score of 2.4 goals per game.

Our worst performing team is GILLINGHAM this weekend as they have picked up seventeen blank score sheets out of 30 League/Cup games played.

Our highest goal scorers in our 40th Season are CELTIC who won 9-0 away to Dundee Utd in the league and LIVERPOOL who won 9-0 at home to Bournemouth in the league both from Week Five

Our 2010/11 Champion TONY GUY with his second selection, has remained at the top for his 10th consecutive weekend. Tony picked up a total of 15 goals this week from Arsenal, Celtic and Sheffield Wednesday and is now six goals in front. Simon Dickinson has moved in to second place this weekend. Simon picked up a total of 13 goals from his combination of Celtic, Liverpool and Sheffield Wednesday.  

At the other end at 108 we have MANDY WRIGHT moving back down as she picked up a total of 6 goals. Mandy’s teams are Bournemouth, Swansea and West Ham. Mandy has now been here for twelve weeks throughout the season..
