Week Twenty-Nine

In Week Twenty-Nine of the competition we had just one winner to pick up the full £5 prize money this weekend. Our winners total still stands at 30 as this weeks winner has picked up his second win of the season. Our winner is TIM WOOD who won on a total of 12 goals. Tim last won in Week Twenty-Five with a shared weekend win. This week we can see Tim at his highest position so far as he has picked up a total of 15 goals in a week. 100 MIDWEEK GOALS JACKPOT

Most of us have managed to pick up a goal or two this week again and the race for the cash has changed again this week. We can now add another 6 players who are over the half-way mark this week bringing our total to 73.

In first place this week we still have ANN WELLARD up from second place now with a total of 83 goals, which means she needs just 13 goals for the cash. Ann’s teams are Barnsley, Chelsea and Rangers. In second place this week we still have TONY KING now on a total of 81 goals. In third place we still have  MARK JOHNSTON but he is now joined with DOUG MORBEY up from four. Both are on a total of 79 goals. In fourth place we still have GEOFF CARTHY but joining him this week we have PETER PORTER down from two. Both are on a total of 78 goals. In fifth place down from three we have ANDY EYLES with a total of 77 goals. In sixth place we  GRANT PHILLIPS both down from five and JAMES SOMERVILLE down from three both on a total of 76 goals.

WEEKEND RESULTS

We had all but two of our teams in action over the weekend and we had just 7 teams failed to score any goals once again. We had another full fixture this weekend and the goals are starting to come in thick and fast now. Although the average score for this weekend went down from seven goals from last weekend back to 6 goals this weekend. The highest score that we had was 5 goals and we had a total of three teams that picked up that score. They where ARSENAL , BRIGHTON and SALFORD CITY. Here are all of the weekends results.

PREMIER LEAGUE

LIVERPOOL have remained top of the table, after they won 4-1 away to Brentford. Liverpool have taken their goals total of 79 goals and have now scored in all of their last 13 league/cup games. In second place this weekend we have ARSENAL back there after they won 5-0 away to Burnley. Arsenal have taken their goals tally up to 60. MANCHESTER CITY have moved down to third place after they drew 1-1 at home to CHELSEA. City are on a total of 63 goals and have now scored in all of their last 11 league/cup games. Chelsea are on 61 goals. ASTON VILLA are now in fourth place after they won 2-1 away to FULHAM. Villa are on a total of 55 goals while Fulham are on 44. NEWCASTLE drew 2-2 at home to AFC BOURNEMOUTH and are on a total of 61 goals and have now scored in all of their last 9 league/cup games. Bournemouth are on 45 goals. NOTTINGHAM FOREST won 2-0 at home to WEST HAM and are on a total of 38 goals. West Ham picked up their 7th blank score sheet and now three games with out a goal. TOTTENHAM lost 2-1 at home to Wolves and picked up goal number 54. BRIGHTON won 5-0 away to bottom of the table Sheffield United. Brighton have taken their goals tally to 57. MANCHESTER UNITED won 2-1 away to Luton and are on a total of 44 and have now scored in all of their last 9 league/cup games.

CHAMPIONSHIP

We still have LEICESTER CITY at the top here after they lost their fifth league game 2-1 at home to MIDDLESBROUGH. As City picked up their 80th goal of the season and they have extended their goal run to 19 league/cup games. Brough are on a total of 63 goals and have now scored in all of their last 8 league/cup games. LEEDS UNITED are now in second place after they won 2-0 away to PLYMOUTH. Leeds are on a total of 71 goals and have now scored in all of their last 10 league/cup games. Plymouth after a goal run of 12 league/cup games, picked up their 7th blank of the season.

In the Play-offs Southampton are now in third place with IPSWICH TOWN still in fourth place after they won 2-1 away to SWANSEA CITY. Ipswich are on a total of 73 goals and have now scored in all of their last 8 league/cup games. Swansea hit goal number 48.

Meanwhile SUNDERLAND lost 2-1 away to Birmingham and are on a total of 46 goals. BRISTOL CITY picked up their 14th blank of the season after they lost 1-0 at home to QPR. SHEFFIELD WEDNESDAY won their 8th league game after they won 2-0 away to Millwall. Wednesday are on a total of 34 goals. NORWICH picked up another four goals after they won 4-1 at home against Cardiff. Norwich have taken their goals tally to 67 goals. STOKE lost 1-0 at home to Coventry and that is their 15th blank of the season.

LEAGUE ONE

Our highest team here is still DERBY in second place after they won 1-0 at home to Stevenage. Derby are on a total of 61 goals.

In the Play-offs we still have two teams and they are BARNSLEY in fourth place after they won 2-1 away to Fleetwood. Barnsley are on a total of 66 goals and have now scored in all of their last 17 league/cup games. PETERBOROUGH are in fifth place after they lost 2-1 at home against BLACKPOOL.  Borough are on 72 goals while Blackpool are on 61 goals.

Meanwhile CHARLTON drew 3-3 away to Bolton and they have taken their goals total to 55. BRISTOL ROVERS lost 3-1 away to Northampton and are on a total of 58 goals. READING lost 4-1 away to Portsmouth and picked up goal number 51 and have now scored in all of their last 7 league/cup games.

LEAGUE TWO

WREXHAM are back up to third place after they won 1-0 at home to NOTTS COUNTY and are on a total of 62 goals while County picked up their 6th blank of the season.

In the Play-offs we now have just one of the four teams. They are MK DONS now in fifth place after they won 2-1 away to Swindon. The Dons are on a total of 53 goals.

Meanwhile AFC WIMBLEDON drew 1-1 at home to Morecambe and are on a total of 61 goals. SUTTON UNITED lost 1-0 away to Bradford and picked up their 10th blank of the season. SALFORD CITY picked up their biggest result of the season after they won 5-3 at home to Barrow. Salford are now on a total of 59 goals and have now scored in all of their last 8 league/cup games.

SCOTTISH RESULTS

In the Premiership RANGERS go top of the league after they won 2-0 at home to Ayr Utd and are on a total of 72 goals and have extended their goal run to 27 league/cup games. CELTIC drew 1-1 at home to KILMARNOCK and are on a total of 65 goals and have now scored in all of their last 10 league/cup games. Kilmarnock are on 44 goals and they have also scored in all of their last 10 league/cup games. ABERDEEN drew 2-2 at home against HIBERNIAN and are on a total of 40 goals and have now scored in all of their last 6 league/cup games. Hibs are on a total of 41 goals. ROSS COUNTY lost 2-0 away to Dundee and picked up their 15th blank of the season.

In League One top of the table FALKIRK are back in play and they won 3-2 at home to Hamilton. Falkirk are now on a total of 71 goals. KELTY HEARTS lost 4-2 away to Montrose and are on a total of 48 goals. COVE RANGERS lost 4-1 away to Allo and are on a total of 54 goals.

In League Two top of the table STENHOUSEMUIR drew 2-2 away to Elgin City and are on a total of 46 goals and have now scored in all of their last 16 league/cup games. EAST FIFE won 2-0 away to Bonnyrigg Rose and are on a total of 34 goals. CLYDE won their third league game 2-0 at home against Dumbarton.  Clyde are on a total of 36 goals but they are still bottom of the league.

Our WORST three teams are

CRYSTAL PALACE (31) EAST FIFE (34) SHEFFIELD WEDNESDAY (34) Total of 99 goals

Our Best performing team are still SOUTHAMPTON after they have now scored in all of their last 28 league/cup games. They have a total of 72 goals which gives them an average score of 2 goals per game.

Our worst performing team is SHEFFIELD WEDNESDAY this week as they have picked up 16 blank score sheets out of their 38 league/cup games.

Our highest goal scoring teams in our 41st Season are NEWCASTLE UNITED after they won 8-0 away to Sheffield United in Week Eight. BARNSLEY and BRISTOL ROVERS have both pick up our second highest score with 7 goals. Barnsley won 7-0 at home to Port Vale in the first league game of the season in Week One. Bristol Rovers won 7-2 at home to non-league Whitby Town in the first round of the FA CUP in Week Fourteen.

JOHN FILTNESS celebrates his third weekend at the top as he picks up a total of 8 goals from the week. He’s teams are Leicester City, Liverpool and Manchester City. James Somerville is still in second place this weekend as he picked up a total of just 5 goals this week. James is now 5 goals behind John. James teams are Celtic, Leicester City and Peterborough.

At the other end at 110 we have CHARLIE FARLEY (John Wood) for his tenth consecutive weekend. John picked up another 4 goals this weekend. John has Kilmarnock, Ross County and Stenhousemuir.  

Although the top four have remained the same this week, the rest are catching up on them.
