Week Five

Here we are with Week Five of the competition and this weekend we had another total of three winners, which now takes our winners total to eight, as one of them has already won some cash this season.

Our winners are GUY DOWSETT (2),  SANSA GRIMWOOD and ANN WELLARD.  All of pour winners won on a score of 8 goals, They all have a share of the £6 prize money this weekend.

Guy started with Golden Goals back in the 2000/01 season on where he finished in 35th place out of 102, with a total of 269 goals. He managed to pick up one shared weekend win. Last season, Guy finished in 96th place with his second selection, with a total of 224 goals. He did picked up one weekend win with his first team selection. This season he is top for this weekend and Clyde is his best team.

Sansa started with us in the 2020/21 season on where she finished in 34th place out of 116 with a total of 267 goals. Last season she finished in 36th place with a total of 257 goals. This season, Sansa becomes our second lady to win some cash. This is her personal best weekend score and her highest position to date. Celtic is her best team this weekend.

Ann has become our first player to win twice this season. Ann won some cash last weekend and again, shared the prize money. So once again we can see Ann at her highest position to date. Celtic is her best team.  Their teams are for this season

100 MIDWEEK GOALS JACKPOT

All but two of us managed to pick up some goals in midweek, as the goals keep rolling in. We had a total of seven players that picked up the most goals with a total of 9 goals each.

Still in the lead, we have CHARLIE FRALEY (John Wood) now with a total of 29 goals. His teams are East Kilbride, Rangers and Stenhousemuir.  In second place, we have our 2010/11 & 2022/23 double Champion TONY GUY (3) now with a total of 26 goals. In third place we still have MANDYME26 but she is now joined with GUY DOWSETT (1) up from five, joining the race we have GUY DOWSETT (2), MICHAEL JACOBSEN and TIM WOOD. All on a total of 21 goals. In fourth place up from five we now have DAVID BARRETT now on a total of 20 goals. In fifth place down from four we have CJEXPRESS26 and joining her we have MARK WALKER both with a total of 19 goals.

WEEKEND RESULTS

We had a fairly good weekend, with 6 teams without a game over the weekend, and another 13 of our teams that failed to score any goals. The average score fell down from five last weekend to just 4 goals this weekend. If your combination picked up more than that, then you have done very well this weekend. The highest score, over the weekend was 4 goals and we had four of our teams that picked them up. They came from GILLINGHAM, OXFORD UNITED and STOCKPORT COUNTY.

Lets get on with the results to see how your teams have performed this weekend. 

PREMIER LEAGUE

MANCHESTER CITY have now won all three of their opening league games as they win just 1-0 at home to COVENTRY CITY. City are on a total of 7 goals while Coventry have still yet to pick up points, picked up their third blank of the season. ARSENAL have moved into second place after they beat their rivals CHELSEA 2-1 at home. Arsenal are on a total of 6 goals while Chelsea are on 10 goals. NEWCASTLE UNITED drew 2-2 at home to AFC BOURNEMOUTH and are on a total of 9 goals. Bournemouth are on 4 goals. BRENTFORD drew 1-1 at home against Sunderland, and are on a total of 11 goals. BRIGHTON drew 1-1 at home against Leeds and hit goal number 8. CRYSTAL PALACE picked up their biggest result, as they win 3-2 away to Fulham. Palace are now on a total of 4 goals. TOTTENHAM picked up their third blank of the  season, and now two in a row, after they drew 0-0 away to Nottingham Forest. ASTON VILLA have picked up their third consecutive blank score sheet after they drew 0-0 away to Hull. MANCHESTER UNITED drew 2-2 away to Everton and they are on a total of 7 goals.

CHAMPIONSHIP

MIDDLESBROUGH are in second place in the table after they have won their third league game 1-0 away to QPR. Brough are on a total of 12 goals and have now scored in all of their 7 league/cup games. SOUTHAMPTON drew 1-1 away to Lincoln City and are on a total of 14 goals and they have also scored in all of their 7 league/cup games. PRESTON NE won 2-1 at home against Blackburn Rovers and are on a total of 6 goals. CHARLTON lost 4-0 away to Stoke and picked up their first blank of the season after a goal run of 6 league/cup games. BURNLEY lost 2-1 at home against BRISTOL CITY. Burnley are on a total of 7 goals while City are on 9 goals. CARDIFF CITY lost 2-0 away to Portsmouth and picked up their first blank of the season after a goal run of 6 league/cup games. WEST HAM UNITED won 3-0 at home against DERBY COUNTY. West Ham are now on a total of 18 goals and have now scored in all of their 7 league/cup games. Derby picked up their second blank of the season. WREXHAM drew 0-0 away to Swansea and that is their second blank of the season. BIRMINGHAM CITY drew 2-2 at home to WOLVES and are on a total of 9 goals and have now scored in all of their last 5 league/cup games. Wolves are on a total of 18 goals and have now scored in all of their 7 league/cup games.

LEAGUE ONE 

SHEFFIELD WEDNESDAY are now top, after they won 2-1 away to Peterborough they are on a total of 14 goals. HUDDERSFIELD TOWN remain in second place after they drew 1-1 at home to Notts County. Huddersfield are on a total of 11 goals and have now scored in all of their 6 league/cup games. STOCKPORT COUNTY won 4-0 away to Wigan and have taken their goals tally to 14 goals. CAMBRIDGE UNITED drew 2-2 away to Burton and they are on a total of 11 goals. OXFORD UNITED have picked up their biggest win with a 4-0 away win over LEICESTER CITY. Oxford are on a total of 9 goals while City picked up their second blank of the season. LUTON TOWN drew 1-1 at home to Leyton Orient and hit goal number 14. READING have picked up another three goals in their 3-1 home win against Blackpool. Reading are now on a total of 15 goals. MK DONS picked up their biggest result this season as they drew 3-3 away to Wycombe. The Dons are now on a total of 8 goals.

LEAGUE TWO

BRISTOL ROVERS are top of the table after they won 1-0 at home against Rotherham, and are on a total of 12 goals. Rovers have now scored in all of their last 5 league/cup games. SALFORD CITY have won their second league game 1-0 at home to PORT VALE. Salford are on a total of 5 goals while Port Vale, bottom of the table, picked up their fourth blank of the season. CHESTERFIELD drew 3-3 at home to BARNET to get their biggest result of the season. They are now on a total of 6  goals. Barnet are now on a total of 13 goals and have now scored in all of their 6 league/cup games. YORK CITY drew 1-1 away to Crewe and are on a total of 9 goals. They have now scored in all of their last 5 league/cup games. EXETER CITY drew 0-0 at home to Walsall, and picked up their third blank of the season. GILLINGHAM have picked up their biggest result of the season after they won 4-1 away to Rochdale. Gillingham have taken their goals tally to 6 goals. GRIMSBY TOWN drew 2-2 away to Cheltenham and they are on a total of 8 goals.

SCOTTISH LEAGUES

In the Premiership, CELTIC are top of the table after they won all of their first 5 league game by winning 2-1 away to St Mirren. Celtic are on a total of 17 goals. Celtic have scored in all of their 6 league/cup games played. HEARTS are in second place after they won 2-1 at home against Dundee. Hearts are on a total of 18 goals and they have now scored in all of their 6 league/cup games. RANGERS have won their third league game 1-0 at home to Motherwell. Rangers are on a total of 11 goals and have scored in all of their 6 league/cup games.  ABERDEEN drew 0-0 at home to Kilmarnock an picked up their fourth blank and now three in a row. HIBERNIAN lost 2-1 away to St Johnstone and are on a total of 8 goals, they have now scored in all of their 6 league/cup games.

In the Championship top of the table Stenhousemuir, have now won four of their five league games. PARTICK are still in second place after they won 1-0 at home to AYR UNITED and are on a total of 18 goals. Ayr picked up their second blank of the season. ARBROATH drew 1-1 at home to DUNFERMLINE and are on a total of 7 goals. Dunfermline are on 14 goals.

In League One EAST KILBRIDE lost 1-0 at home to Hamilton and have picked up their third consecutive blank score sheet.

In League Two, CLYDE have moved back up to the top of the table, after they won 3-2 at home to Edinburgh City. Clyde are now on a total of 20 goals.

Our best performing team are now WEST HAM UNITED after they have scored in all of their 7 league/cup games. With a total of 18 goals, their average score is 2.5 goals per game.

Our worst performing team is ASTON VILLA,  this weekend, as they have picked up three blank score sheets in 3 consecutive league/cup games of the season. They have a total of 4 votes.

Our highest goal scoring team in our 44th Season are LIVINGSTON. They won 8-0 at home against Forfar in the first round group stages of the Scottish League Cup in Week One.

GUY DOSWETT (2) has become our second player to stay at the top this weekend. He picked up a total of 15 goals from the week. Guy’s teams are Celtic, Clyde and West Ham United.  His is just 2 goals clear of  Michael Jacobsen who moves into second place this week, after his teams picked up a total of 16 goals from the week. Michael’s teams are Celtic, West Ham United and Wolves.

At the other end at 124 we now have ALBIE/BOBBY who becomes our third players to do so. They picked up a total of just 4 goals from the week. They have  Arsenal, Aston Villa and Manchester City.
