Week Fourteen

RICHARD WILLIAMS becomes our 7th player to get to the top this weekend. Richard’s combination of  teams picked him up a grand total of eleven goals for the week with eight of them coming from the weekend. They came from Hibernian and Rangers with four goals each. His third team is Manchester City. He is three goals clear of  DANIEL GOODSON who after a stay of six weeks at number one, he moves back into second place after his teams picked him up a total of five goals this week. Daniel’s teams are Manchester City, Middlesbrough and Rangers.

At the other end, it’s still JOHN NICHOLLS now in his thirteenth weekend at number 119 as his combination picked him up just two goals all coming from the weekend. His teams are Arsenal, Bolton and  Newcastle.

100 MIDWEEK GOALS JACKPOT 
Just under half of us managed to pick up some more midweek goals this week with STUART KEMP picking up the highest score with seven goals. They came from his combination of Hibernian three, Preston one and Tottenham three.
CRAIG EVANS is still in the lead again this week with his teams of  Hearts, Manchester City and Middlesbrough. Craig has a new total of 41 goals. Still in second place we have DANIEL GOODSON with 37 goals.  In third place up from four is TONY KING now on 35 goals, while in fourth place we have BARBARA BARNES (2) and MARK HOWARD both moving down from third place with NATHAN TREADWELL is still here in fourth place plus, RICHARD WILLIAMS comes straight in, all are on a total of 34 goals. In Fifth place all on 33 goals we have still have ADRIAN BEW with JAMES HUNTER and TOM MACDONALD both down from four last week and straight in we have DAVE WESTON.

This weekend we had our third Rollover of the season with a jackpot of £10 and it was won on a score of 11 goals. The person to pick the cash up was STEVEN CADWELL who now becomes our 16th winner of the season.
Steve is in his second season with Golden Goals and this is his highest weekend score to date. Last season, Steve finished in 50th place with a total of 258 goals. This season, Steve has been in the top spot for three weekends on a trot from week four. He has not had any blank score sheets at the weekend and last week we saw him at his lowest position of 37.
His best team is Rangers who have nearly scored half of his total of 102 goals with 49. His teams are

WEEKEND RESULTS                                
For three weekends running we had the average score of six goals but this weekend we slipped down to an average score of 5 goals. We did not have a great weekend for goals as we had three teams that had no game and we had thirteen teams that failed to score any goals of which some were our biggest voters.
Our highest score came from the 1st Round of the FA CUP where LEYTON ORIENT picked up their highest score of the season with six goals. They beat non-league team Staines Town 6-1 at home. Orient have three votes this season and the six goals now gives them a total of 33.
Orient is our 37th voted English team with Golden Goals and they started in our second season of 1984/85 where they finished on a score of 60 goals. In the following season and in our 2013/14 Season they have twice finished on their highest score of 99 goals. This is their 21st Season with us and over the seasons they have netted a total of 1,458 goals. This gives them an average score of 69 goals per season to date.

As always we will start with the First Round of the FA Cup

FA CUP First Round
We had a total of seventeen of our teams in cup action over the weekend but only ten have made it through to the second round. We already know about one of them, Leyton Orient with that big score but EXETER are also through as they win 3-0 away to non-league team. Exeter are now on 29 goals. WYCOMBE picked up their highest score as they won 4-0 away to non-league FC Halifax. Wycombe are now on 24 goals. PETERBOROUGH are also through as they win 
3-0 away to BURTON ALBION. Borough are now on a total of 38 goals and remain our third best team this weekend. They have now extended their goals run to eighteen games. Burton picked up their 6th blank and they have now scored just three goals in their last six games. LUTON won 2-1 away to Crawley and are now on 33 goals while MILLWALL are also through as they win 3-1 at home to non-league team AFC Fylbe. Millwall are now on 28 goals. PORTSMOUTH are on 28 goals as they beat non-league Macclesfield 2-1 at home. SCUNTHORPE beat SOUTHEND 2-1 at home to give them a total of 24 goals while Southend hit goal number 18. SHEFFIELD UNITED are through as they win 3-0 at home to non-league team Worchester. United are now on 33 goals. STEVENAGE picked up another three goals as they win 3-0 at home to Gillingham. Stevenage are now on 23 goals.
Teams that go out are BLACKPOOL as they lost 2-0 away to Barnet to pick up their 8th blank of the season and the second one of the week. WIGAN lost 4-0 away to Bury and that was their 5th blank of the season. PLYMOUTH are out as they go down 2-0 at home to Carlisle to pick up their 3rd blank of the season. Although SWINDON picked up their 22nd goal of the season, they lost 3-1 away to Rochdale.
The only team in a replay are PORT VALE as they drew 1-1 at home against non-league Maidstone UTD. Port Vale are now on 20 goals.

CHAMPIONSHIP
We still have the top five teams here this weekend with HULL now in top place as they win 3-0 at home to MIDDLESBROUGH. Hull are now on a total of 31 goals and they have scored in all of their last twelve games. Middlesbrough picked up their 7th blank of the season but they are still in fourth place in the league. BRIGHTON are now down to second place as they win 2-1 at home to MK DONS. Brighton take their goals tally to 23 while the Dons are now on 18.  BURNLEY are still in third place as they drew 0-0 away to WOLVES to pick up their 4th blank of the season to Wolves 6th and now two games in a row. After a a five game dry spell for goals, CHARLTON picked up three goals as they win 3-1 at home to Sheffield Wednesday. Charlton are now on a tally of 23 goals. DERBY are in fifth place. BRENTFORD are on 21 goals as they drew 1-1 away to Blackburn while BRISTOL CITY drew 0-0 away to BOLTON. City picked up their 4th blank of the season while Bolton picked up their 11th and they have now not scored any goals in their last three games and only one goal in their last six.  CARDIFF won 2-0 at home to Reading and that now gives them a total of 19 goals after they failed to score in their last three games. LEEDS picked up their highest score of the season as they win 3-0 away to Huddersfield. Leeds have picked up four goals this week and they are now on 17 goals. QPR drew 0-0 at home to PRESTON which gave them their 6th blank and now no goals in their last three games while Preston picked up their 7th scoring just one goal in their last four games. IPSWICH have had a good week collecting seven goals. They won 5-2 away to Rotherham which is their biggest score of the season. Ipswich are now on 29 goals.

SCOTTISH LEAGUES
In the Scottish Premiership, CELTIC are still top as they win 4-1 away to Ross County. Celtic are now on 42 goals. HEARTS are in second place as they win 2-0 at home to Hamilton. Hearts are now on 36 goals. ABERDEEN are third as they win 2-0 at home to Dundee UTD and that gives them a total of 21 goals.
In the Championship, RANGERS extend their 100% goal scoring record to sixteen games as they win 4-0 at home to Alloa. Rangers who are still top in this league, are now on 49 goals. HIBERNIAN won 4-1 away to St Mirren and with seven goals scored this week, they are now on a total of 34 goals. QUEEN OF THE SOUTH. won 1-0 at home to Dumbarton and are now on 19 goals. FALKIRK are on 28 as they win 2-1 away to Raith.
 In the lower Leagues STENHOUSEMUIR are now on a total of 22 goals as they win 2-1 away to Stranraer. BERWICK lost 2-1 at home to Stirling but it is their 20th goal of the season. CLYDE won 3-1 at home to Montrose to take their total to 15 while QUEENS PARK lost 2-1 away to East Stirling but that was their 19th goal of the season.

Our worst team this week is still BOLTON as they picked up another two blanks this week. They have now had a total of eleven blank score sheets out of seventeen games played. They have scored just one goal in their last six games.

Our Best team this weekend is still RANGERS after scoring in all of their sixteen League/Cup games played, they are on a total of 49 goals which still gives them an average of three goals per game.

We have had five high scoring teams in our 33rd Season. From the Scottish Premiership CELTIC won 6-0 at home to Dundee in a league game in week seven while MANCHESTER CITY won 6-1 at home to Newcastle in the League in week nine. NEWCASTLE’S won 6-2 at home against Norwich in the League from week eleven. EVERTON won 6-2 at home in a league game against Sunderland. LEYTON ORIENT winning 6-1 at home to non-league team Stains Town in the first round of the FA Cup in week fourteen.

A Goal For Forest

We had two of our teams in action last night and they have both already played a game this week. From the English Championship the teams were DERBY and NOTTINGHAM FOREST. 
Derby had won their first game on Tuesday night 1-0 at home to Q.P.R while Forest lost 1-0 away to Preston. But after a two game dry spell for goals Forest won this game 1-0 at home. Forest picked up goal number fifteen while Derby picked up their fourth blank score sheet of the season.

Scottish League Cup Quarter-Finals


HIBERNIAN are now on a total of 30 goals as they beat Dundee UTD 3-0 at home in the quarter-finals of the Scottish League Cup last night. Hibs are second in the championship and they are doing very well. They have now scored in all of their last twelve games with ten coming in their last four games.
This is Hibernians fourth season with Golden Goals and they started with us back in our 1997/98 season when they became our 21st voted Scottish team. In their first season they netted a total of 43 goals and in the following season they picked up their highest score of 89 goals. The last time that we had Hibs was back in our 2000/01 Season where they finished on a total of 75 goals. So over the seasons, they have scored 237 goals which gives them an average score of 59 goals per season to date.
Hibs have three votes this season and out of their sixteen games that have been played this season, they have picked up just one blank score sheet.

Not A Great Night For Golden Goals

We had eighteen of our Golden Goals teams in action last night and most of them came from the English Championship. BURNLEY picked up the highest score as they beat Fulham 3-1 at home. Burnley are now on a total of 23 goals and they have now scored in all of their last seven games. HULL are on 28 goals as they win
2-0 away to BRENTFORD. Brentford picked up their 5th blank score sheet of the season. BRISTOL CITY picked up goal number 18th goal of the season as they win 1-0 at home to Wolves who picked up blank number five. DERBY won 1-0 at home against QPR and that gives them goal number 23 while Rangers picked up their 5th blank score sheet and now two in a row. IPSWICH beat our worst team BOLTON 2-0 at home and they are now on 24 goals. Bolton have now had ten blank score sheets after playing sixteen games. It is now just one goal in their last five games.
LEEDS picked up goal number 14 as they win 1-0 at home to CARDIFF who picked up their 5th blank of the season and now three games in a row. They have also scored just one goal in their last five games. MIDDLESBROUGH beat Rotherham 1-0 at home to net goal number 32 while after a three game dry spell for goals, MK DONS picked up goal number 17 as they win 1-0 at home to CHARLTON. Charlton picked up their 7th blank score sheet and now they have not scored in their last five games. PRESTON hit goal number 17 after a two game dry spell by winning 1-0 at home to NOTTINGHAM FOREST. Forest picked up their 6th blank and now two games in a row. BRIGHTON picked up their 3rd blank score sheet as they drew 0-0 away to Sheffield Wednesday. Brighton have score just one goal in their last three games.
In League One, BLACKPOOL lost 1-0 away to Bradford to pick up blank score sheet number seven.

Tottenham Now Fifth


TOTTENHAM beat Aston Villa 3-1 last night to move them up into 5th place in the premiership. Tottenham have now won just five of their eleven league games and the three goals takes their goals total to 20.
Tottenham are in their 32nd season with Golden Goals and they are our 11th most voted team back in our very first season of 1983/84 where they finished on a total of 71 goals. Their highest score came in 1986/87 with a total of 109 goals. This is the only season that they have netted over 100 goals. Last season they finished on 75 goals. Over the seasons they have netted a total of 2,261 goals which gives them an average score of 70 goals per season to date. This season they have just three votes and they have had a total of three blank score sheets out of twelve games played.

Week Thirteen

DANIEL GOODSON is at the top for his sixth weekend. Daniel’s combination of  teams picked him up a grand total of eleven goals for the week with six of them coming from the weekend from Manchester City 2, Middlesbrough 3 and Rangers 1. He has extended his lead to three goals of  RICHARD WILLIAMS who moves back into second place after his teams picked him up a total of ten goals this week. Richards teams are Hibernian, Manchester City and Rangers.

At the other end, it’s still JOHN NICHOLLS now in his twelfth weekend at number 119 as his combination picked him up another three goals all at the weekend. His teams are Arsenal, Bolton and  Newcastle.

100 MIDWEEK GOALS JACKPOT 
All but fourteen of us managed to pick up some more midweek goals this week with three players picking up the highest score of eight goals each. All three had Celtic and Manchester City in their combinations but BRADLEY CLARK picking up his other goal from Norwich while CHRIS NUNN got his goal through Chelsea. IAN SMITH picked up his other goal from Brentford.
CRAIG EVANS is in the lead again this week with his teams of  Hearts, Manchester City and Middlesbrough. Craig has a new total of 40 goals. In second place up from three we have DANIEL GOODSON with 36 goals.  In joint third place we have BARBARA BARNES (2) up from fourth place and MARK HOWARD both now on 34 goals while we have a hat full of names in fourth place all on 33 goals. They are JAMES HUNTER from five, TONY KING down from two,
TOM MACDONALD up from fifth place with NATHAN TREADWELL. In fifth place on 32 goals we have  MICK LIDDLE down from three and ADRIAN BEW comes straight in this week.

This weekend we had seven players that picked up the highest score of 9 goals each, but under competition rules we are only giving out payment up to five people to share the cash. So it means that we will have our third Rollover of the season with a jackpot of £10. Our top scorer’s are JOHN DOVE, CRAIG EVANS, ANDY EYLES, TONY GUY (1), PAUL HUDSON, BENJAMIN WAYMARK and ZIGGY (John Wood)

WEEKEND RESULTS                                
For the third weekend running the average score has remained at six goals but we did have a bad weekend for goals. We had four teams that had no game with another fifteen teams that failed to score any goals.
Our highest score came from the English Premierships where EVERTON picked up their highest score of the season with six goals. They beat Sunderland 6-2 at home.  
Everton have just one vote this season and the six goals now gives them a total of 27 goals. Everton became our 42nd team to be voted in with Golden Goals back in our 1985/86 Season where they finished on a grand total of 111 goals. This is the only time that they have scored 100 or more goals in the seventeen seasons that they have been with us. Last season they scored just 51 goals. Over the seasons Everton have scored a total of 1,120 goals which gives them an average score of 65 goals per season.

PREMIERSHIP
We have just the top two teams this week with MANCHESTER CITY still on top after they win 2-1 at home to NORWICH City have had a great week for goals as they take their total up to 35. ARSENAL are still in second place as they win 3-0 away to Swansea. Arsenal are now on 23 goals. MANCHESTER UNITED are still in fourth place as they drew 0-0 away to Crystal Palace. United have now pick up blank number five and they have now failed to score in their last three games. WEST HAM have moved back down to fifth palce as their 100% scoring record  came to the end after they lost 2-0 away to WATFORD. West Ham pick up their very first blank after a run of eleven games. Watford are at last in double figures with 10 goals. LIVERPOOL are now on a total of 14 goals as they win 3-1 away to troubled CHELSEA. Chelsea picked up goal number 21 but they have scored in all of their last eleven games. NEWCASTLE picked up blank number seven and have not scored in their last two games as they drew 0-0 at home to Stoke.

Brough are now on a total of 31 goals while Charlton picked up blank number six and now it’s been four games with out a goal. DERBY are in fifth place as they win 3-0 at home to Rotherham and that gives them a total of 22 goals. WOLVES won 2-0 away to Birmingham and they are now on 24 goals while BRISTOL CITY are on 17 as they loss 4-1 at home to Fulham. IPSWICH drew 0-0 at home to CARDIFF to pick up their 5th and Cardiff’s 4th blank score sheet. PRESTON drew 0-0 at home to BOLTON. Preston have now had six blank score sheets to Bolton’s nine.

LEAGUE ONE
BURTON ALBION are now in second place this weekend as they win 1-0 away to Oldham. Burton are now on 18 goals. WIGAN are next still in fifth place as they win 1-0 at home to SWINDON. Wigan are now on 27 goals while Swindon pick up blank number five. BLACKPOOL may of lost 4-3 away to Bury but they are now on 15 goals with their biggest score of the season. It’s 35 goals for PETERBOROUGH as they lost 3-2 away to Coventry. Borough have now scored in all of their last seventeen games. SHEFFIELD UNITED picked up their 4th blank as they lost 1-0 away to Crewe. CHESTERFIELD won 1-0 away to Fleetwood and picked up goal number 22 while MILLWALL drew 0-0 at home to Bradford and that was their 5th blank of the season. PORT VALE won 2-0 at home to Shrewsbury and are now on a total of 19 goals. It’s 22 for SCUNTHORPE as they win 2-0 at home to Barnsley. SOUTHEND are on 17 as they drew 2-2 at home against Rochdale. 

LEAGUE TWO
PLYMOUTH are top here as they win 2-0 at home to Morecombe. Plymouth are now on 26 goals.  29. Down to third place this weekend we have PORTSMOUTH who lost 2-1 away to Notts County. Portsmouth picked up goal number 26 of the season. LEYTON ORIENT are down to seventh place this weekend as they lost 1-0 at home to Accrington.  Orient picked up their 2nd blank after a goal run of nine games. LUTON won 2-0 away to Redbridge and that now gives them a total of 31 goals. EXETER lost 2-0 away to Barnet to pick up their 5th blank score sheet.  WYCOMBE won 2-0 away to Mansfield and they are now on 20 goals. STEVENAGE lost 5-1 at home to Oxford to pick up goal number 20.

SCOTTISH LEAGUES
In the Scottish Premiership, CELTIC beat third place ABERDEEN 3-1 at home. Celtic are on 38 goals while Aberdeen hit goal number 19. HEARTS are now in second place as they win 4-0 away to Partick. Hearts are now on 34 goals.
In the Championship, RANGERS lost their first league game 2-1 away to HIBERNIAN. Rangers are our only team  with a 100% scoring record and that goal was number 45. Hibs take their goals total to 27. QUEEN OF THE SOUTH. Won 2-1 away to Alloa and are now on 18 goals. FALKIRK are on 26 as they win 3-0 at home to St Mirren. More Blank Score Sheets

We have two more midweek football results to give you which brings us up to date with the weekend scores coming very soon.
In the English Championship, LEEDS UTD lost 2-0 at home to Blackburn on Thursday night and the goals came within six minutes of the game starting. Leeds picked up their 5th blank score sheet and they have now scored just five goals in their last eight games.
On Friday night, also in the Championship, BRENTFORD picked up their 20th goal of the season as they beat QUEENS PARK RANGERS 1-0 at home. Rangers picked up blank number four.

Out of our seventeen Golden Goals teams that were in action over the midweek period, seven failed to score any goals. Highest Score came from Manchester City in the Cup.
