Week Twenty and Half Time


 
It’s half time here with Golden Goals in our 32nd season. The reason for this is that we had another very good weekend for goals although nine of our teams failed to net any goals and one team that had no game this weekend.
Our highest score this weekend came from MK DONS as they win 7-0 at home against Oldham. This is Don’s highest score of their season and they are now on a total of 61 goals.  
The MK Dons are in their sixth season with Golden Goals and they first started in our 2007/08 Season where they finished on a total of88 goals. It was in our 2011/12 season that they picked up their highest score with 105 goals. Last season they finished on 76 goals. With their 61 goals this season they are on a total of 477 goals to date. This gives them an average of 79 goals per season.
 
PREMIERSHIP
CHELSEA are still top this weekend even though they had no game.  They are on top on goal average as MANCHESTER CITY won 3-0 at home to CYRSTAL PALACE. City are now on 43 goals and also on 39 points with Chelsea. Palace picked up their sixth blank of the season but they have now scored just one goal in their last four games.
MANCHESTER UNITED remained in third place as they drew 1-1 away to Aston Villa to hit goal number 30. ARSENAL drew 2-2 away to LIVERPOOL and they are now on a total of 31 goals while Liverpool are on 28. It’s 31 for TOTTENHAM as they win 2-1 at home to Burnley. QPR are now on 20 goals as they win 3-2 at home to West Brom after they went down 2-0 in the first 20 minutes. EVERTON picked up their 4th blank of the season as they lost 3-0 away to Southampton.
 
CHAMPIONSHIP
DERBY have dropped down to fifth place and our highest team here as they drew 2-2 at home to NORWICH. Derby are now on a total of 51 goals while Norwich are on 40. WATFORD are right behind Derby as they win 1-0 away to READING. Watford picked up their 41st goal of the season while Reading picked up their 9th blank score sheet of the season. CHARLTON picked up their 7th blank score sheet as they lost 2-0 away to Blackburn. It’s 34 goals for CARDIFF as they lost 3-2 at home against Brentford. It’s been a while since FULHAM had a big score as they win 4-0 at home to Sheffield Wednesday. Fulham are now on a total of 40 goals. NOTTINGHAM FOREST drew1-1 at home to LEEDS UTD and are on 36 goals while Leeds are on 28. After scoring just one goal in their last seven games, ROTHERHAM win 2-1 away to WIGAN. Rotherham are our worst team this weekend and they are now on 19 goals. Wigan also not doing all that well are on 23 goals. WOLVES have picked up another single goal as they drew1-1 at home to Brighton. Wolves are on 27 goals.
 
LEAGUE ONE
BRISTOL CITY are still top here as they lost 1-0 away to Crewe. City picked up their 4th blank of the season. We know that the MK Dons are in second place with PRESTON in fourth as they win 1-0 away to PETERBOROUGH. Preston picked up goal number 41 while Borough picked up their 8th blank score sheet. SHEFFIELD UNITED are on 39 goals as they drew 1-1 at home to Walsall. BARNSLEY are on 40 goals this weekend as they win 2-0 at home to LEYTON ORIENT. Orient picked up their 9th blank score sheet. SCUNTHORPE drew 1-1 away to Bradford and are now on 31 goals while COVENTRY  are on 26 as they drew 1-1 at home to Fleetwood. It’s another single goal for DONCASTER as they win 1-0 away to Swindon. Doncaster are now on a total of 30 goals.
 
LEAGUE TWO
LUTON is our highest team here now in third place as they win3-0 at home to Newport. Luton are now on 33 goals. DERBY are on 51 goals and they become our second team to get half way to 100 goals, as they drew 2-2 at home to York. PORTSMOUTH are on 28 goals as they drew 1-1 away to Cheltenham. STEVENAGE win 1-0 at home to Exeter to pick up their 29th goal.
                                                     
SCOTTISH LEAGUES                                                                                                                   
In Scotland all of our five teams were in action but two of them failed to pick up any goals. CELTIC lost their third league match to Dundee UTD as they went down 2-1 away. Celtic are on 47 goals. RANGERS won 2-0 at home to Livingston and are now on 49 goals while HEARTS won 2-0 at home to Alloa and are on a total of 45 goals. DUNFERLINE picked up their 5th blank of the season as they lost 1-0 at home Stranraer. STENHOUSEMUIR lost 2-0 at home to Brechin to get their 7th blank score sheet of the season.
 
THE BEST THREE TEAMS ARE…

THE WORST THREE TEAMS ARE…  

ROTHERHAM (19) QPR (20) WIGAN (23) Total of 62 goals.
 
ROTHERHAM are our worst team this weekend in our 32nd season.  After a total of 24 games played, Rotherham have picked up nineteen goals and they have had a total of 11 blank score sheets to date.
 
We have had two teams that have picked up the highest score this season. First MANCHESTER CITY won their Capital One Cup third round tie against Sheffield Wednesday 7-0 at home then this weekend, MK DONS won 7-0 at home to Oldham in the league.
 
We are still following Manchester City record breaking end of season score of 137 goals from last season, In Week twenty last season, City scored three goals in midweek and another four goals at the weekend. Their goals tally has now risen to 61 goals after twenty games played. They have still had two blank score sheet’s and their highest score was seven goals against Norwich in the league.
This season they picked up three goals at the weekend so they are now on a total of 43 goals this weekend. They have still had two blank score sheet after nineteen games played. They are now 18 goals behind last seasons record run. They are at away to West Brom on Boxing day and then at home to Burnley at the weekend.
