RICHARD WILLIAMS has stayed at the top for three weeks now as his combination
picked him up a total of twelve goals over the week. Five came from midweek
with another seven at the weekend. They came from Hibernian 2, Manchester City
4 and Rangers 1. Richard has now been top for a total of six weeks as he was also
top for three consecutive weeks from week fourteen to sixteen. Now he is now four
goal clear of SIMON DICKINSON who picked up a total of nine goals for the week. His teams are Celtic, Manchester City
and Portsmouth.
At the other end, it’s still STEPTOE & SON at number 119 for a
second week as his combination had no games over the week. His teams are Queens
Park, Queens Park Rangers and Queen of the South.
100 MIDWEEK GOALS JACKPOT
With a
total of twenty-four votes this season it was Chelsea that has made the biggest
impact on the race for the cash this week. We had another seventeen players to
score 50 or more goals this week bringing the total to 45.
The highest
score this week was a total of seven goals and they went to SCOTT THOMSON (2), JAMES
WISE and JOHN WOOD. Scott picked up his goals from Derby’s goals from two games, Manchester
United and Rangers. James came from again Derby’s two games, Manchester City
and Rangers while John’s goals came from Burnley and Manchester City. Arsenal
is his third team.
So this is
how the race to £40 looks this week. In the lead this week we have JOHN DAVIES and DANIEL GOODSON both now on 62 goals each. In second place on 61
goals we still have JAMES HUNTER while in third place both down from one of last
weekend we have ADRIAN BEW and DAVE WESTON both on 60 goals. In
fourth place with 59 goals each we have down from two, CHRIS BOLBERY, CRAIG EVANS and MARK UNSTEAD and up from five JAMES WISE. In fifth place we have,
down from two TONY KING and down
from four TOM MACDONALD all on 58 goals. In sixth place all on 57 goals we have NATHAN TREADWELL down from three and down from
five RICHARD WILLIAMS and BRIAN WAKEFIELD.We had had three winners this weekend and they all won on a
score of 11 goals. Our winners take a share
the cash of £5 and they are first time winners of this season. The cash goes to
ALEX DAVEY, KEAMUS
SETNA and TIM WOOD and it takes our winners total to thirty-four.
Alex has been with Golden Goals for twelve
seasons now. Starting way back in our 2004/05 Season, Alex finished in 56th
place out of 105 on 261 goals. Last season he finished in 58th place
on 251 goals. So it’s about time that Alex won some cash. Alright it’s only
£1.66 pence but it’s a win. This season he has picked up a total of three blank
score sheets and this is his best score of the season. Although we can see him
jump up to 95th place this weekend, 94th is his best to
date from week three. Manchester City is his best team.
Keamus is our 2005/06 Champion where he
finished on a grand total of 309 gaols. With three weekend wins, Keamus picked
over £61 in cash. His winning combination was Celtic, Chelsea and Gretna Green.
Keamus started with us way back in our 1998/99 Season. Last Season he finished
in 70th place on 245 goals. This season, Keamus has not had any
blank score sheets to date and his best team is also Manchester City. 50th
place is his best from week eleven.
Tim started with us back in our 1996/97
Season and he finished in 43rd place on 251 goals. Last season he
finished in 64th place on 249 goals. This season, Tim has also had
just three blank score sheets and his best team is also Manchester City. 70th
is his best to date from week eleven.
Alex CHELSEA
5, LEEDS UTD 2, MANCHESTER CITY 4
Keamus CHELSEA 5, EXETER 3, MANCHESTER CITY 4
Tim ARSENAL 2, CHELSEA 5, MANCHESTER CITY 4
This
weekend we had the Fourth Round of the FA
Cup and this is where the biggest score came from. Although we had twenty
of our Golden Goals teams that were not in action and another ten teams that picked up another blank
score sheet, I was really surprised that the average score went back up to five
goals each this weekend.
So it was
from the FA Cup that we had the
biggest score as CHELSEA beat MK DONS 5-1 away. With their highest score
of the season, Chelsea are now on a total of 44 goals while MK Dons picked up
goal number thirty-three.
As you
already know that Chelsea have been in every single season of Golden
Goals and in our very first they were our 24th most voted
team. In that season they finished on a total of 98 goals. Their best end of
season score came in 2009/10 when they picked up a total of 128 goals. Chelsea
had then beaten Liverpool's record score of 127 goals which they held on to for
24 Seasons. Last season Chelsea finished on a total of 89 goals. Over the
thirty-three seasons, Chelsea have now scored a total of 2,638 goals which
gives them an new average score of 79 goals per season to date.
We already know that Manchester United are through to the
next round after beating Derby on Friday night. But out of the sixteen teams that
we had playing over the weekend, only eight including Chelsea are in the next
round.
They are ARSENAL as they beat BURNLEY 2-1 at
home. Arsenal after a two consecutive blank sheet, they are now on 44 goals.
Burnley are out and they picked up their 49th goal of the season. MANCHESTER
CITY are through as they win 4-0 away to Aston Villa. City have picked up a
total of seven goals this week which means that they are now on 69 goals. LEEDS
are on 34 goals as they beat BOLTON 2-1 away. Bolton are on 29 goals. HULL
are through as they win 3-1 away to Bury. That now gives Hull a total of 55
goals and twelve goals in their last four games. TOTTENHAM beat
Colchester 4-0 away and that puts their goals tally to 50 goals and that’s thirteen
goals in their last four games. WATFORD picked up their 29th
goal as they win 1-0 away to NOTTINGHAM FOREST. Forest picked up their 9th
blank of the season and two games in a row. EVERTON are our last team to
go through as they win 3-0 away to Carlisle. Everton are now on 58 goals. The
good, news depending on your point of view, is that we could have some more of
our teams joining them as LIVERPOOL drew 0-0 at home to WEST HAM
to wait a replay. Liverpool picked up their 9th blank of the season
and now two games with out a goal. West Ham picked up their 5th
blank. PETERBOROUGH could also be there as they drew 2-2 away to West
Brom. Borough are now on 65 goals. PORTSMOUTH though, are out as they lost 2-1
at home to Bournemouth but it was their 55th goal of the season.
Due to the FA Cup, we only had three of our teams in action.
They were CHARLTON who won 4-1 away
to Rotherham to take their goals
tally to 35 while BRISTOL CITY drew
0-0 at home to Birmingham. That was City’s 12th blank of the season
and they have now failed to score in their last three games. It’s 40 goals for CARDIFF as they win 3-2 away to
Huddersfield.
LEAGUE ONE
BURTON ALBION are back on top this weekend even
though they lost 2-1 away to Rochdale. Albion are now on 39 goals. We still
have two teams in the play-off zone with WIGAN
in fourth place won 3-0 at home to PORT
VALE. Wigan are now on 49 goals and they have now scored in all of their last
eight games. Port vale picked up their 11th blank of the season. MILLWALL are also still there as they drew
1-1 at home to Crewe. Millwall are
on 49 goals. Meanwhile BLACKPOOL are
on 28 goals as they win 1-0 at home against Gillingham. SWINDON picked up their 7th blank score sheet as they
lost 1-0 at home to Barnsley. SCUNTHORPE
won 2-1 away to Coventry and that takes their goals total to 39.
LEAGUE TWO
PLYMOUTH are still in second place this weekend as
they lost 1-0 at home to WYCOMBE.
Plymouth picked up their 4th blank of the season. Wycombe picked up
goal number forty after a three game dry spell for goals. They still have only
scored two goals in their last six games. Portsmouth
are still in the play-off zone in sixth place but they were in cup action this weekend. LEYTON
ORIENT are just outside the zone as lost 3-1 at home to Cambridge. Orient
are now on 52 goals. EXETER are on
51 goals as they win 2-0 away to Hartlepool. LUTON picked up their 9th blank of the season as they
lost 2-0 at home against Notts County. STEVENAGE
lost 2-1 away to York to pick up goal number 42.
SCOTTISH
LEAGUES
Only five
of our eleven Scottish teams managed to play over the weekend due to the bad weather
once more. In the Scottish League Cup Semi-finals, we had two of the four teams
still in this competition but only one of them has managed to get through to
the final. That teams is HIBERNIAN
as they won 2-1 at home against St Johnstone. Hibs are now on 50 goals and they
have now scored in all of their last
twenty-three games. The Shock of the weekend must surely go to CELTIC as they lost 3-1 away to Ross County. Celtic
out of the cup are now on 71 goals.
In the Championship, RANGERS kept up their 100% goal record but only in injury time to
beat FALKIRK 1-0 at home. Rangers are
now on 79 goals while Falkirk picked up their 4th blank of the
season. CLYDE from League Two lost
2-0 away to East Fife to pick up their 9th blank score sheet.
OUR BEST THREE TEAMS ARE THIS WEEKEND
RANGERS (79)
CELTIC (71) MANCHESTER CITY (69) Total of 219 goals
OUR WORST THREE TEAMS ARE
QUEEN OF SOUTH (26) BRISTOL CITY (27) CLYDE (27) Total of 80 goals
BOLTON have picked up the most number of blank
score sheets this season with a total of fifteen out of thirty-two games
played. They have now scored seven goals in their last four games.
Our Best
team this weekend is still RANGERS after scoring in
all of their twenty-six League/Cup games played keeping their 100% scoring
record in-tacked. They are on a total of 79 goals after they picked up a total
of 12 goals in their last four games.
The highest
scoring team in our 33rd Season is now CELTIC from the Scottish
Premiership, when they beat Hamilton 8-1 at home
in a midweek league game in week twenty-five.
It seems that the top ten has settled down just a bit this weekend.
