It’s Week Thirty-Seven of Season 34 and we did
not have any pay out this weekend due to the lack of games over the Easter
Weekend. But the good news was that although we only had twenty-one of our
teams in action, only three of you failed to pick up any weekend goals. Next
weekend we will have our eighth Rollover of the season with another £12 in the
pot.
100
MIDWEEK GOALS JACKPOT
We have now
extended our list of players that have now scored 100 or more midweek goals to ten
this week.
DARYL NICHOLLS is still leading but now on a total of 119 goals this week.
He picked up the goals from Newcastle and Brighton. His other team is Celtic.
In second place on 112 goals is still LUCIFER
the Cat or John Wood. He picked up
the three goals from Brighton and Newcastle. His other teams is Accrington
Stanley who failed to score any goals. In third place is CHRIS SETFORD with 105 goals and in joint fourth place we have STEVE CADWELL and PHIL FRANCKSEN both are on 104 goals. Can Daryl or anyone else beat
our highest midweek score set by Paul Davey in our 2013/14 Season of a total of 132
goals.
WEEKEND
RESULTS
To be honest
we did not have a bad weekend even
though we had just twenty-one of our teams in action over the weekend. But the average
score went down from seven last weekend to 4 goals this weekend. Out of our
twenty-one teams, only four failed to score any goals. The highest score that
we had over the weekend was four goals and they came from the English Premiership TOTTENHAM who won 4-0 at home to BOURNEMOUTH. Tottenham are still in second place behind
Chelsea but they are now only four points away from nicking the title from
them. Tottenham have now scored in all of their last nine games and they are
now on a total of 89 goals with thirteen of them coming from their last four
games. Bournemouth picked up blank number ten.
Tottenham
have been with Golden Goals for thirty-three seasons now and they started in
our very first season ending with a total of 71 goals. They were our tenth most
voted team then. Their highest score came in the 1986/87 Season with 109 goals.
Last season they finished on 78 goals. Over the years they have netted a total
of 2408 goals which gives them an average score of 72 goals per season to date.
This season they have a total of 14 votes and they have had just four blank
score sheets.
PREMIERSHIP
CHELSEA lost their
fifth league game this weekend out of thirty-two played as they lost 2-0 away
to MANCHESTER UNITED who have remained in fifth place. Chelsea have now had just three blank score sheets throughout the
season while United take their goals tally to 72. Tottenham are in second place
while LIVERPOOL are still in third
place after they won 1-0 away to West Brom. Liverpool are now on 83 goals. MANCHESTER CITY are still in fourth
place after they won 3-0 away to SOUTHAMPTON.
City have taken their goals total to 80 goals while Southampton picked up their
eleventh blank score sheet. EVERTON have
moved up to sixth place after they won 3-1 at home to Burnley and that now puts
them on a total of 65 goals. It’s 50 goals for LEICESTER CITY as they drew 2-2 away to Crystal Palace. WEST HAM are on 48 goals as they drew
2-2 away to Sunderland. STOKE won
3-1 at home against Hull to take their goals tally to 42.
CHAMPIONSHIP
ASTON VILLA
lost 3-1 at home to Reading to give them their 45th goal of the
season.
LEAGUE ONE
OLDHAM won their twelfth
league game as they win 1-0 at home to Bolton. Oldham are now on 36 goals.
SCOTTISH
RESULTS
In the Scottish Premiership Champions CELTIC are now on a total of 111 goals
as they drew 2-2 away to Ross County. ABERDEEN in second place won 2-1 away
to ST JOHNSTONE. Aberdeen are now on
74 goals while St Johnstone hit goal number 60. RANGERS are still in third place after they won 2-0 at home to
Partick. Rangers are now on 78 goals
In the Championship, HIBERNIAN are crowned Champions as they win 3-0 at home to Queen of
South. Hibernian are now on 66 goals. FALKIRK
are still in second place and now eleven points behind Hibs as they drew 2-2 at
home to St Mirren Falkirk are on a total of 57 goals.
In League One, STENHOUSEMUIR are still rock bottom of this league as they lost 1-0
at home to Livingston and that was their fourteenth blank of the season. PETERHEAD won 2-1 away
to East Fife to take their goals tally to 48 and they are now five points in
front of Stenhouesmuir.
Our Best Three Teams Are
CELTIC (111)
SHEFFIELD UNITED (92) NEWCASTLE (90) Total of 293 goals
Our Worst Three Teams Are
KILMARNOCK
(35) OLDHAM (36) STOKE (42) Total of 113 goals
OLDHAM have picked up the most number of blank score sheets this
season with a total of twenty-fourth out of their forty-seven games played.
Our highest
goal scorers in our 34th Season are
HIBERNIAN after they won 8-1
away to non-league team Bonnyrigg Ross in the Fourth Round of the Scottish WILLIAM HILL CUP in Week Twenty-Five.
JUNE TIGHE is now in her seventh weekend at the top as she picks up a
total of six goals for the week. June’s picked
up four goals in midweek and the other two came at the weekend from Celtic as Newcastle
and Sheffield United had no game. June has once again reduced her lead to just
three goals clear of Lee Clark who
has remained in second place this weekend.
June has moved up to 26th place in
our Champions League as she has now beaten Martyn Gent’s score of 289 in the 1984/85
Season and my very own score of 290 goals which I won on back in the 2008/09
Season.
At the other end at that dreaded number 136
we still have EMMA SAWYER after
her combination picked her up six goals for
the week. Five of them came from the weekend from Hibernian three and Leicester
City two. Her third team is Charlton who had no game. Emma has now been at
number 136 for a total of seven weeks over the season. She is now just one goal
behind Kathy Somerville who picked up a total of five goals over the
week. Emma is still moving up our Loser’s League this weekend as
she has now beaten another five players to land in 23rd spot. Emma
needs another good weekend to move up into the top twenty.
