Week Thirty


In Week Thirty of the competition we are now half way through the second half of this season. This weekend we had a total of five players that picked up the highest score of 9 goals each, but under our competition rules,we only give cash prize money up to four winners, to keep the prize money more attractive. So next weekend we will have another Rollover worth £12. Our five players that missed out on the cash this weekend are DANIEL GOODSON, STUART KEMP, JULIE SOMERVILLE, DAVID STAINES and NATHAN TREADWELL.

100 MIDWEEK GOALS JACKPOT
Over half of us managed to pick up some more midweek goals this weeks but it was PHIL FRANCKSEN that picked up the most amount of goals with a total of six. They came from Brentford with five goals and one from Fulham. Celtic is his third team. The race for the cash is beginning to thin out a bit this week.
On a total of 87 goals, I’am still in the lead (Me) STEVE REEVE picking up two goals from Wolves. My teams are Manchester United, Rangers and Wolves. In second place this week on 86 goals we have  JAMES BLYTH moving up from three. Down from two to three is ANDY EYLES on a total of 85 goals. In fourth place down from three is ROBERT FREEMAN on 84 goals. In fifth place all on 83 goals we have GEOFF CARTHY down from two while HARRY CORNEY comes down from three. Down from four we have . STEVE CADWELL but joining in the race this week we have BARBARA BARNES (1) and DAVE SOMERVILLE.

WEEKEND RESULTS
This season, changes from one week to another as this weekends average score shot back up to 5 goals. It was not a great week for goals but all but one of us managed to pick up some goals from our teams. We had just three of our teams with out a game this weekend and another eighteen teams that failed to score any goals.
The highest score that we had came from two of our teams with four goals each. They were LIVERPOOL from the English Premiership who beat WEST HAM 4-1 at home. Liverpool are now on a total of 69 goals while West ham picked up goal number 44. The other team to hit four goals was ASTON VILLA from the Championship. They beat Sheffield Wednesday 4-2 away to take their goals tally to 60.

CARABAO CUP FINAL
We had both teams in this final and they are our top two most voted English teams this season, MANCHESTER CITY and ARSENAL. After their exit from the FA CUP in midweek by Wigan, it was Manchester City that won the cup 3-0 to win the League Cup for fifth time. City are now on a total of 96 goals while Arsenal picked up their seventh blank and now two in a row.

PREMIERSHIP
With Manchester City in pole position, MANCHESTER UNITED are in second place after they won 2-1 at home to CHELSEA. Both teams are now on a total of 68 goals as Chelsea drop down to fifth place in the league. Liverpool are in third place after their win with TOTTENHAM in fourth place after they won 1-0 away to CRYSTAL PALACE. Tottenham are now on a total of 64 goals as Palace picked up their thirteenth blank of the season. NEWCASTLE after going two goals up in the first half, drew 2-2 away to BOURNEMOUTH. Newcastle are on a total of 32 goals while Bournemouth take their’s up to 42. LEICESTER CITY are on 58 goals as they drew 1-1 at home to Stoke. EVERTON picked up their tenth blank of the season as they lost 1-0 away to Watford. WEST BROM lost 2-1 at home to Huddersfield but they are now on a total of 32 goals.

CHAMPIONSHIP
WOLVES are still on top here after they lost 2-0 away to FULHAM. As Wolves picked up their eighth blank of the season, Fulham take their goals total to 59. CARDIFF in second place won 1-0 at home to Bristol City to cut Wolves lead down to just six points. Cardiff take their goals tally to 57. In the play-off zone, we have two teams still in. They are Aston Villa in third place and FULHAM in fifth place.
Meanwhile BIRMINGHAM lost 2-0 at home to Barnsley and that is their eighteenth blank of the season and they have now failed to score in their last four games. BURTON ALBION also picked up their eighteenth blank score sheet as they lost 1-0 at home to Millwall. Burton have scored just four goals in their last seven games. It’s 60 goals for LEEDS UNITED as they win 1-0 at home to BRENTFORD who picked up their eleventh blank of the season. NORWICH drew 0-0 at home to BOLTON and that is their ninth blank of the season while Bolton picked up their fifteenth and now just one goal in their last four games. IPSWICH are on 48 goals as they win 1-0 away to Preston. QUEENS PARK RANGERS lost 5-2 at home to Nottingham Forest, but they are now on 40 goals. READING drew 3-3 at home against Derby and that takes their goals tally to 47. After a two game dry spell, SUNDERLAND are now on 40 goals as they drew 3-3 at home to MIDDLESBROUGH who are now on 54 goals.

LEAGUE ONE
BLACKBURN have moved to the top this week as they win 2-1 away to Walsall. Blackburn are now on a total of 72 goals. WIGAN have dropped down to third place as they win 1-0 at home against Rochdale. Wigan are now on 74 goals. Also in the play-off zone we have SCUNTHORPE still in fifth place after they drew 1-1 away to Bristol Rovers. Scunthorpe are now on a total of 55 goals and they have now scored in all of their last fourteen games. PLYMOUTH are now in sixth place as they win 1-0 at home to BRADFORD. Plymouth are now on 45 goals while Bradford picked up their ninth blank of the season.
Meanwhile CHARLTON lost 2-0 at home to second place Shrewsbury and that is their eighth blank of the season. FLEETWOOD TOWN are now on 51 goals as they drew 1-1 at home to MK DONS. The Dons are on 43 goals. PETERBOROUGH are on 68 goals as they drew 1-1 at home to AFC Wimbledon. PORTSMOUTH lost 2-0 at home to Blackpool and that is their tenth blank score sheet of the season. DONCASTER lost 2-1 away to Rotherham and they are now on 57 goals.

LEAGUE TWO
LUTON are still top after they drew 2-2 at home against Cheltenham. Luton take their goals tally up to 81 goals. In the play-off zone we have MANSFIELD in fifth place who drew 1-1 at home to COVENTRY. Mansfield are now on 60 goals while Coventry hit goal number 47. In sixth place is EXETER. They won 1-0 away to Grimsby to take their goals total to 53.
Meanwhile COLCHESTER lost 1-0 at home to Barnet to pick up their tenth blank and now two in a row. FOREST GREEN are now on 44 goals as they win 2-0 at home to Crawley. LINCOLN CITY lost 4-1 at home to Crewe and that is their 47th goal of the season. PORT VALE picked up their twelfth blank of the season as they drew 0-0 at home to Newport.

SCOTTISH RESULTS
In the Scottish Premiership CELTIC won 2-0 away to ABERDEEN to stay top and to take their goals tally to 79. Aberdeen in third place, picked up their tenth blank score sheet and now two in a row. RANGERS are just nine points behind the,m now as they win 2-0 at home to Hearts. Rangers are now on 73 goals.
In the Championship, FALKIRK drew 0-0 at home to Dumbarton and that was their tenth blank of the season. In League One RAITH ROVERS stay top after they drew 2-2 at home to Arbroath. Raith are now on 64 goals.  In League Two, PETERHEAD are still in second place as they win 2-0 away to Cowdenbeath. Peterhead have picked up five goals this week and they are now on a total of 83. STENHOUSEMUIR are still in fourth place after they lost 2-0 away to Anna. Stenhousemuir have now had a total of six blank score sheets. ELGIN CITY picked up their eleventh blank score sheet as they 4-0 away to Edinburgh.

The team with the best run of goals is currently TOTTENHAM who have scored in all of their last twenty games.

BIRMINGHAM and BURTON ALBION have both picked up the most number of  blank score sheets with a total of eighteen games each.  

Our highest goal scoring team in our 35th Season is PETERHEAD from the Scottish League Two. They picked up our highest score in week eleven as they won 9-0 at home to non-league team Colville Park in the WILLIAM HILL CUP Second Round. 

CHRIS BOOM is back on top this weekend as his combination picked him up a total of ten goals for the week which moves him two goals clear of Paul Davey in second place. Chris has the combination of Celtic, Manchester City and Peterhead. Chris has now been in the top position for a total of eleven weeks. Last weeks leader Paul Davey picked up a total of seven goals at the weekend from Celtic, Luton and Manchester City.  
At the other end at number 149 we have COLIN PINDER back there for his eighteenth weekend. Colin failed to get any goals from his combination of Colchester, Crystal Palace and Southend. John Wood’s LUUCIFER teams picked him up a total of eight goals for the week. Lucifer has Aston Villa, Bolton and Burton Albion.
