Week Twenty-Eight

In Week Twenty-Eight of the competition and we have  had a total of four winners which we have not had since Week One. Out of the four winners, two are first time winners which now brings our winners total to thirty-six. Our four winners will share this Weekends Jackpot of £6 on a score of 11 goals each. This weekends winners are BARBARA BARNES (1), CORRINE MULLINS, BOB SOPER and MALCOLM STUBBS.
Corrine is in her very second season with Golden Goals and she becomes our sixth lady winner this season. Corrine finished in 78th place on a total of 280 goals last season and she had one shared weekend win. Corrine has dropped Aston Villa this season and picked up Everton. This season, Corrine has picked up three blank score sheets at the weekend and this is her personal highest score of the season. The highest that Corrine has been is 36th place in Week Twenty-One. Malcolm has been with us for twenty-three years and is still waiting to be champion. Last season Malcolm finished in 131st place on a total of 207 goals. This season, Malcolm has been as high as 21st place and he has picked up three blank score sheets. Bob has picked up his third win of the season and he last won in Week thirteen. Since then Bob is at his highest position of the season and he has had four blank score sheets to date. Barbara has picked up her second win of the season but this is her first with her first choice of teams. Barbara won some cash in Week Three with her third choice. Barbara has had three blank score sheets with this one. All of our winners have Manchester City as their best team and here are their combinations.

100 MIDWEEK GOALS JACKPOT
Only fifty-five of us managed to pick up some more midweek goals this weeks and the race for the cash has change just a bit this week.
On a total of 85 goals, I’am still in the lead (Me) STEVE REEVE as I picked up the two goals from Rangers again. Manchester United and Wolves are my other teams. In second place up from three on 82 goals we have  BOB SOPER. In joint third place on 81 goals we have RAYMOND HARROD and MIKE PEPPERRELL both moving down from two. On 80 goals all in joint fourth place this week we still have JAMES BLYTH, MATT DORAN,  ROBERT FREEMAN, STEPHEN LEADER, GRAHAM PHILLIPS and TERRY WARWICK all coming down from three of  last week.

WEEKEND RESULTS
We had a great week with our teams this week but I am surprised that the weekends average score of 5 goals is not higher as most of you have Celtic and Manchester City as part of your combinations.
We had six of our teams with out a game this weekend and another nine teams that failed to score any goals but it was a high scoring weekend.
The highest score that we had came from the Scottish WILLIAM HILL CUP Fifth Round games where RANGERS won 6-1 away to Ayr after going a goal down in the first eleven minutes of the first half. Rangers are now on a total of 66 goals.
Rangers was our fourth most voted Scottish team in our first season of 1983/84. In that season they finished on a score of 97 goals. In the 1992/93 Season they finished on their highest score of 126 goals. Last season they finished on a total of 86 goals. This is their 34th Season with Golden Goals as they missed out on our 1985/86 Season as no-one voted for them. Over the seasons they have scored a total of 3284 goals which gives them an average score of 96 goals per season. They have just nine votes this season.
