MIDWEEK GOALS JACKPOT
Congratulations
to GRAHAM HARRIS as he has finally
won this season’s 100 Midweek Goals Jackpot with this season’s cash prize money
of £30. Graham needed just one goal from his combination and that goal did not
come from Hearts but Tottenham last Wednesday night. His other team is West
Brom. His total stands at 101 goals but can Graham beat our record held by Daryl Nicholls with 136 goals from the
2016/17 Season. John Davies and Kellie Stratton came a very close second with a total of 95 goals each.
WEEKEND RESULTS
We had most
of our teams in action over weekend with ten of them failing to score any goals
and another seven teams that had no game. So the weekends average score fell
from five to a just 3 goals. It seems that our teams have forgotten how to
score goals of late.
The highest
score that we had came from the Premiership where LEICESTER CITY won 4-1 away to Huddersfield. That has taken Leicester’s goal
total up to 52 goals and they have now scored in all of their last eight games.
Leicester are our 64th English team to play in the
competition and this is their fifteenth Season with Golden Goals. They first appeared in our 1987/88 Season and ended on a total of 68 goals. Their
highest score came in the 2013/14 Season with 98 goals. This season they have
just two votes and have picked up just seven blank score sheets. Over the seasons
they have scored a total of 1099 goals which gives them an average score of 73
goals per season.
FA CUP
Semi-Finals
We had just two of our teams playing in the semi-finals and
they were MANCHESTER CITY who won just 1-0 against Brighton to give them
their 119th goal of the season and WOLVES. Wolves had to play
Watford and went a goal up at half time. At the end of 90 minutes the score was 2-2. In extra time,
Watford won 3-2. The two goals for Wolves, means that they are now on a total
of 54 goals. The final is to be played on May 18 between Manchester City
and Watford.
