Week Fourteen

In Week Fourteen of the competition we had a total of three winners to share the £5 Weekend Jackpot. They are MIKE HARRINGTON, BOB SAWYER and ANN WELLARD all three won on a score of 10 goals. This now brings our winners total up to nineteen. Mike became Champion in the 1997/98 Season on where he won on a score of 276 goals. He has the 35th highest Champion score and he shared the title with David Salmon. Last season Mike finished in 80th place with a total of 241 goals. He had one weekend win. This season He has picked up three blank weekend score sheets and this is his highest position to date.. Bob has also been with us for a long while now. Bob finished in 46th place with a total of 258 goals. He had one shared weekend win. This season Bob has picked up just one blank weekend score sheet and he has been as high as eleventh place in Weeks Three and Five. Ann rejoined Golden Goals a few seasons ago and last season she finished in 74th place on a total of 243 goals. This season Ann has become our third lady to win. She has picked up three blank weekend score sheets and 3rd is her highest position which was last weekend. Our winners teams are

100 MIDWEEK GOALS JACKPOT 

Half of us managed to pick up some midweek goals this week and the race for the cash has once again changed this week. We had two players that picked up the highest midweek score with eight goals each. They were COLIN WEBB and JAMIE WOOD. Both have Fulham and West Brom in their combos. 

In the lead again this week we still have BOB SOPER now with a total of 48 goals. His teams are Arsenal, Fulham and Rangers. In second place with 47 goals we now have COLIN WEBB moving up from three. In third place we now have LYANNA GRIMWOOD moving up from sixth place with a total of 42 goals. In fourth place down from two we now have PETER PORTER and coming back in the race is JAMIE WOOD. Both are on a total of 41 goals. In fifth place with 40 goals we have GEOFF CARTHY down from four. In sixth place this week we have moving down from four LOUIE HARRINGTON with a total of 38 goals. 

WEEKEND RESULTS 

We had all but two of our teams in action this weekend and out of the ones that did play fifteen of them failed to score any goals again this weekend. The good news is that we all managed to pick up some goals once again as we had another great weekend for goals. This weekends average score remained the same as last weekend with a total of 6 goals. 

The Highest score over the weekend was five goals and they came from HEARTS. They won 5-2 at home to Dundee United. Hearts with their biggest result of the season are now on a total of 33 goals and a goal run of eight games. Hearts became our 11th voted team in Golden Goals and they first appeared in our 1986/87 Season and finished the season with a total of 72 goals. Their highest score came in the 2014/15 Season with 98. Last season they finished on a total of 71 goals. This is their 15th season with us and over the years they have netted a total of 982 goals. This gives them an average score of 65 goals per season. This season they are doing very well and have only picked up one blank score sheet to date. They have just one vote this time round. 

FA CUP First Round 

We had a total of nineteen of our teams in cup action and out of them eight have made it through to the next round with another nine involved in replays. So the team through are CARLISLE after they won 2-0 to non-league Horsham. Carlisle after failing to score in their last two games, are now on a total of 13 goals. CHARLTON won 4-0 at home to non-league Havant & Waterlooville and have taken their goals tally to 25. They have now score in all of their last thirteen games. SWINDON won 3-0 away to non-league FC Halifax and they are now on a total of 25 goals and a goal run of seven games. BURTON ALBION won 2-1 away to Fleetwood and they are on 19 goals. SUTTON UNITED picked up goal number 26 as they win 1-0 away to non-league Hayes & Yeading Utd. PORTSMOUTH won 1-0 at home to non-league Harrow Borough and are on a total of 21 goals. ROTHERHAM won 3-0 at home to non-league Bromley and they are now on a total of 33 goals. LINCOLN CITY won 1-0 at home to non-league Bowers & Pitsea and that is goal number 23 for them. 

The teams that are in replays are EXETER CITY who drew 1-1 away to Bradford. Exeter are on 26 goals and a goal run of ten games. WYCOMBE drew 2-2 away to Hartlepool and they are on a total of 31 goals. IPSWICH drew 1-1 at home to Oldham and are on 35 goals and a goal run of sixteen games. STEVENAGE drew 2-2 away to MK Dons and they are on 17 goals after they failed to score in their previous four games. WIGAN after a goal run of nine games picked up their third blank of the season after they drew 0-0 at home to non-league Solihull Moors. SHEFFIELD WEDNESDAY drew 0-0 at home to PLYMOUTH and that was their fifth blank after a goal run of eleven games, while Plymouth after a run of seven teen games, picked up their second blank of the season. BOLTON drew 2-2 at home to non-league Stockport County. Bolton are on a total of 24 goals. OXFORD UNITED drew 2-2 at home to Bristol Rovers and they are on a total of 29 goals and a goal run of eight games.

Teams that went out are SCUNTHORPE who lost 1-0 at home to Doncaster and that is their eighth blank of the season. SUNDERLAND lost 1-0 at home to Mansfield and that is their sixth blank and now two in a row. 

PREMIER LEAGUE 

We now have the top ten teams here this week with CHELSEA keeping on top after they drew 1-1 at home to Burnley. Chelsea are now on a total of 29 goals and a goal run of six games. MANCHESTER CITY have moved up to second place after they won 2-0 away to local rivals MANCHESTER UNITED. City are on a total of 28 goals after a two game dry spell. United picked up their fourth blank fo the season and are down to sixth place. WEST HAM are now in third place after they won 3-2 at home to LIVERPOOL who are down to fourth place. West Ham are now on a total of 24 goals while Liverpool are on 36 goals and they once again keep their 100% scoring record after a total of thirteen games. ARSENAL are now in fifth place after they won 1-0 at home to WATFORD. Arsenal picked up goal number 24 while Watford picked up their seventh blank and now two in a row. BRENTFORD lost 2-1 at home to Norwich and that is goal number 25 for them this week. BIGHTON drew 1-1 at home to Newcastle and they are on 18 goals. CRYSTAL PALACE won 2-0 at home to WOLVES and they are on 15 goals while Wolves picked up their fifth blank after a goal run of six games. TOTTENHAM drew 0-0 away to Everton and that is their fifth blank and now two in a row. LEICESTER CITY drew 1-1 away to Leeds and they are on 20 goals. 

CHAMPIONSHIP 

We have the top three teams here once again this week with BOURNEMOUTH top and now just two points in front as they win 4-0 away to SWANSEA. Bournemouth are on a total of 36 goals while Swansea picked up their sixth blank of the season.  FULHAM are still in second place after they won 1-0 away to PETERBOROUGH.  Fulham are now on a total of 46 goals and they have now scored in all of their last nine games. Borough picked up their ninth blank of the season. WEST BROM in third place drew 1-1 at home to Middlesbrough and that is goal number 27 for them  HULL won their third league game of the season after they won 2-0 away to BARNSLEY. Hull are on a total of 12 goals after failing to score in their previous three games. Barnsley have now had a total of nine blank score sheets. READING won 2-1 away to Birmingham and they are on 22 goals after a three dry spells for goals. SHEFFIELD UNITED lost 3-1 away to Blackburn and they are on a total of 25 goals. Its 20 goals for CARDIFF as they win 2-1 at home to Huddersfield. Bottom of the table DERBY drew 1-1 away to Millwall and that is goal number 17 for them this week. NOTTINGHAM FOREST won 3-0 at home against PRESTON. Forest are now on a total of 25 goals while Preston picked up their seventh blank fo the season.

SCOTTISH LEAGUES 

In the Premiership, RANGERS have remained top and are still four point in front as they win 4-2 at home against bottom of the table Ross County. Rangers have extended their goal run to thirteen games and they have taken their goals tally up to 36 goals. CELTIC are still in second place after they won 4-2 away to Dundee. Celtic are now on a total of 36 goals. ABERDEEN lost 2-0 at home to Motherwell and that is their third blank of the season after a goal run of six games.  

In the Championship, KILMARNOCK are now just one point clear at the top after they lost 1-0 at home to Partick. That is their fourth blank of the season. 

In League Two KELTY HEARTS won 1-0 away to Cowdenbeath and they are on  a total of 36 goals and have extended their goal run to thirteen games. STENHOUSEMUIR won 3-1 away to Stirling and they are now on a total of 22 goals. Our on-form team is LIVERPOOL after scoring in all of their thirteen League/Cup games with a total of 34 goals. 

Our worst team this week are HULL after they have picked up eleven blank score sheets out of eighteen games played. 

Our highest goal scorers in our 39th Season are now FULHAM who won 7-0 away to Blackburn Rovers in the league in Week Fourteen. CHELSEA won 7-0 at home to Norwich in the league in Week Twelve. BRENTFORD won 7-0 at home to Oldham in the third round of the Carabao/League Cup in Week Eight. 

We have a new leader again this week and it’s his first weekend at the top this season and becomes our fourth player to do so. The player this week is MANGO (Paul Moran). Paul picked up a total of thirteen goals this week and his teams are Chelsea, Fulham and Rangers. Colin Webb has moved up to second place after he picked up a total of fourteen goals for the week. He is just two goals behind Paul and his teams are Fulham, Rangers and West Brom. 

At the other end at 113 we still have ZIGGY (John Wood) here this weekend which is now his tenth consecutive weekend at the bottom. Ziggy did picked up five goals this week all coming from the weekend. His teams are Crystal Palace, Scunthorpe and Stenhousemuir.
