Week Eighteen

In Week Eighteen of the competition we had our twenty-first winner of the season and the cash goes to HAYLEY ADKINS. Hayley won on a score of 8 goals and she becomes our fifth lady winner of the season.  Hayley started with us last season and finished in 91st place with a total of 227 goals. This season although Hayley has spent most of the time on the second page, has been as high as 49th place in Week One of the season. She has only picked up three blank score sheets and has picked up a total of 16 goals this week. Hayley's best team is Liverpool. Her wining Teams are

100 MIDWEEK GOALS JACKPOT

All but one player managed to pick up some midweek goals this week so the race for the cash has changed and the race looks set to be a good one. It was CHRIS DICKER that picked up the most number of goals with nine this week. They came from Liverpool, Manchester City and Manchester United. They have taken his midweek total to 20 goals. In the lead we still have BOB SOPER and we congratulate him on reaching the halfway mark with a total of 52 goals. His teams are Arsenal, Fulham and Rangers. In second place now with 49 goals we still have COLIN WEBB. In third place we have LYANNA GRIMWOOD now with a total of 46 goals. PETER PORTER drops down to fourth place with a total of 45 goals. In fifth place we have JAMIE WOOD and TONY GUY (3) both dropping down from four and are on a total of 44 goals. 

WEEKEND RESULTS

We had all but ten of our teams in action this weekend and out of the ones that did play ten failed to score any goals. So that means that our weekend average score for the third weekend running remained at 5 goals. The Highest score over the weekend was four goals and they came from ABERDEEN.  Aberdeen picked up their biggest result of the season as they won 4-1 at home against St Mirren. They are now on a total of 23 goals. 

Aberdeen are one of our original teams from our very first season in 1983/84. In that season they scored their highest total of goals to date with 112. They were our top voted Scottish team then but they rarely pick up any votes these days. This is their 22nd Season with us and last season they finished on a total of 40 goals. Over the seasons they have netted a total of 1581 goals and the now gives them an average total of 71 goals per season. This season they once again have just one vote and they have picked up a total of four blank score sheets to date. 

FA CUP Second Round

We had a total of twelve of our teams in cup action over the weekend. We already Know about two of our teams getting through to the next round but out of the other twelve teams only three have made it to the next round with another one in a replay. The teams that are through are SWINDON who won 2-1 away to Walsall. Swindon are on a total of 33 goals and have now scored in all of their last eleven games. WIGAN won 2-1 away to Colchester and they are on 39 goals. PLYMOUTH won 2-1 away to Rochdale and have taken their goals tally to 43. The team that have a replay are IPSWICH who drew 0-0 at home to Barrow. That is their fifth blank of the season.

The teams that go out are SUTTON UNITED who lost 2-1 away to Bristol Rovers and that is goal number 22 for them and a goal run of six games. BURTON ALBION lost 2-1 at home to Port Vale and they are on 26 goals. CARLISLE lost 2-1 at home to Shrewsbury and they are on 16 goals. LINCOLN CITY lost 1-0 at home to Hartlepool and that is their ninth blank and now four in a row. PORTSMOUTH lost 2-1 at home to Harrogate and they are on 29 goals with a goal run of nine games. STEVENAGE lost 1-0 away to non-league Yeovil and that is their eighth blank of the season. EXTER CITY are out after they lost 2-1 away to Cambridge Utd. Exeter are on 35 goals and have now scored in all of their last sixteen games. SALFORD CITY lost 2-0 at home to non-league Chesterfield. That is their fifth blank after a goal run of seven games. 

PREMIER LEAGUE

We still have the top thirteen teams here with MANCHESTER CITY going top after they won 3-1 away to WATFORD. City are now on a total of 38 goals while Watford picked up goal number 22. LIVERPOOL move up to second place after they won just 1-0 away to WOLVES. Liverpool keep their 100% scoring record going after playing in seventeen games and are now on a total of 49 goals. Wolves picked up their eighth blank of the season and now three in a row. CHELSEA drop down to third place after they lost 3-2 away to London rivals WEST HAM. Chelsea are on 37 goals and a goal run of ten games. West Ham are now on a total of 29 goals and remain in fourth place in the league. TOTTENHAM are up to fifth place as they win 3-0 at home to Norwich and are now on a total of 19 goals. Its 20 goals for BRIGHTON after they drew 1-1 away to Southampton.  ASTON VILLA won 2-1 at home to LEICESTER CITY and they are on 28 goals to Leicester's 27. BRENTFORD drew 2-2 away to Leeds and they are on 31 goals. MANCHESTER UNITED won 1-0 at home to CRYSTAL PALACE. United are on 25 goals while Palace picked up their sixth blank and now two in a row. 

CHAMPIONSHIP

Fulham are still top of the league with Bournemouth still in second place. WEST BROM remained in third place after they won 2-1 away to Coventry. West Brom after failing to score in their previous three games, are now on a total of 29 goals. BARNSLEY drew 1-1 at home to Huddersfield and are on 14 goals after a two game dry spell. PRESTON pickled up their eighth blank of the season after they lost 1-0 away to Blackburn. Bottom of the table DERBY lost 1-0 away to Bristol City and that is blank number eight for them. CARDIFF lost 3-2 at home to SHEFFIELD UNITED and they are on 26 goals while United are now on 31 goals. SWANSEA lost 1-0 away to Middlesbrough and that is their seventh blank of the season. NOTTINGHAM FOREST won 2-0 at home to PETERBOROUGH and they are on a total of 28 goals after a tow game dry spell. Borough picked up their thirteenth blank and now no goals in their last five games. READING drew 1-1 at home to HULL and are on 27 goals to Hull’s 18. 

LEAGUE ONE

We now have the top five teams here with Rotherham still top and Wigan still in second place. Wycombe are third with Plymouth in fourth place. SUNDERLAND are in fifth place after they drew 1-1 at home to OXFORD UNITED. Sunderland are on 38 goals while Oxford hit goal number 36. 

Our BEST three teams this week are

Our WORST three teams are 

BARNSLEY (14) SCUNTHORPE (15) CARLISLE UNITED (16) Total of 45 goals 

SCOTTISH LEAGUES

In the Premiership RANGERS are still top after they won 3-0 at home to Dundee. Rangers are now on a total of 44 goals and they have extended their goal run to seventeen games. CELTIC are second as they win 3-0 away to Dundee Utd. Celtic are now on a total of 43 goals. HEARTS are in third place after they won 1-0 away to Livingston and picked up goal number 36.

In the SCOTTISH CUP Third Round Replay, we had just one of our teams in this round and they were KELTY HEARTS. They drew their first game 0-0 at home to Montrose and in the replay they drew again 1-1 away. Kelty finally won the round 3-1 on penalties. They are on a total of 40 goals.

In League Two just one game here with STENHOUSEMUIR losing 4-1 at home to Stranraer and they are now on a total of 28 goals.

Our on-form team is LIVERPOOL after scoring in all of their seventeen League/Cup games with a total of 49 goals. 

Our worst team this week are PETERBOROUGH  after they have now picked up thirteen blank score sheets out of twenty-two games played. 

Our highest goal scorers in our 39th Season are now FULHAM who won 7-0 away to Blackburn Rovers in the league in Week Fourteen. CHELSEA won 7-0 at home to Norwich in the league in Week Twelve. BRENTFORD won 7-0 at home to Oldham in the third round of the Carabao/League Cup in Week Eight.

ANN WELLARD has remained top for her season weekend.  Ann picked up another total of ten goals from the week. Her teams are Bournemouth, Liverpool and Rangers. Guy Dowsett (2) has moved back up to second place after he picked up a total of ten goals from the week. He is just two goals behind Ann and his teams are Kelty Hearts, Liverpool and Rangers.

At the other end at 113 we still have ZIGGY (John Wood) here this weekend which is now his fourteenth consecutive weekend at the bottom. Ziggy did picked a single goal this week. His teams are Crystal Palace, Scunthorpe and Stenhousemuir.
