Week Twenty-Eight

In Week Twenty-Eight of the competition we had two players that won this weekend on a total of 9 goals each. That now takes our winners total up to twenty-nine in our 39th Season. Our winners are VINCENT CRUICKSHANK and CHRIS NUNN and they share the £5 Weekend Cash Prize Money.

Vincent started with Golden Goals back in the 2010/11 Season on where he finished the season in 94th place with a total of 228 goals. The last season that Vincent was in was the 2019/18 Season where he finished in 38th place with a total of 286 goals. This season he has been as high as 20th place in Week Twenty. He has picked up three weekend blank score sheets and his best team is Manchester City. Chris started with us back in the 1992/93 Season on where he finished in 39th place with a total of 213 goals. The last time that Chris was with us was back in the 2017/18 Season on where he finished in the winning frame in 27th place with 294 goals. This season he has been as high as 83rd place in Week Two. He has had a total of four blank score sheets and Manchester City is also his best team. Our winners teams are

100 MIDWEEK GOALS JACKPOT

Everyone of us managed to pick up some midweek goals this week and we still have two players that are in front of the rest of the pack. We can add another thirty players names to the list this week who are at the half way mark. We now have eighty-one players that are nearer to that 100 Midweek Goals Jackpot. The race for the cash has remained the same this week. We have LYANNA GRIMWOOD in the lead with a total of 92 goals and now needs just eight goals to claim the cash. Lyanna teams are Fulham. Manchester City and Sunderland. In second place we still have BOB SOPER now with a total of 87 goals. In third place is still LOUIE HARRINGTON now with a total of 82 goals. In fourth place with 78 goals we still have PETER PORTER. In fifth place we still have COLIN WEBB but he is now joined with CHRIS BOLBERY both on a total of 75 goals. In sixth place we have KEAMUS SETNA and JAMIE WOOD both on a total of 74 goals. 

WEEKEND RESULTS

We had all but four of our teams in action this weekend. Out of the ones that did play fourteen failed to score any goals. So it will be of no surprise that the weekends average score went down from six goals last weekend to 5 goals this weekend. The highest scores came from CELTIC, MANCHESTER CITY and PORTSMOUTH with a total of four goals each. 

PREMIER LEAGUE

MANCHESTER CITY won 4-0 away to Norwich and they are now on a total of 75 goals. They have extended their goal run to seventeen games and are still nine points in front. LIVERPOOL are still in second place as they win 1-0 away to Burnley and they are on a total of 78 goals and a goal run of six games. BRENTFORD drew 0-0 at home to CRYSTAL PALACE to pick up their tenth blank and now two games in a row. Palace picked up their eighth. MANCHESTER UNITED drew 1-1 at home to Southampton and they are on 40 goals and a goal run of seven games. WATFORD lost 2-0 at home to BRIGHTON and that is their twelfth blank and now four in a row. Brighton are on a total of 34 goals and have now scored in all of their last nine games. LEICESTER CITY drew 2-2 at home to WEST HAM to take their goals total to 48 while West Ham are on 50 goals. ASTON VILLA picked up their fifth blank after they lost 1-0 away to Newcastle. TOTTENHAM lost 2-0 at home to WOLVES and that is their ninth blank score sheet. Wolves are on a total of 30 goals after failing to score in their previous two games. 

CHAMPIONSHIP

We still have the top two here with FULHAM top as they win 1-0 away to HULL. Fulham hit goal number 82 and have scored in all of their last nine games. Hull picked up their fifteenth blank of the season. BOURNEMOUTH are in second place after they won 2-1 away to Blackpool. Bournemouth are on a total of 57 goals. We do not have any teams in the play-offs this week.

Meanwhile BARNSLEY won 1-0 at home to QPR to take their goals total to 24. SHEFFIELD UNITED drew 0-0 away to Huddersfield to pick up blank number ten. DERBY are on a total of 36 goals but they lost 4-1 away to Middlesbrough. CARDIFF CITY lost 2-1 away to Millwall and they are on a total of 42 goals and a goal run of six games. It’s 50 goals for NOTTINGHAM FOREST as they drew 2-2 at home to Stoke. PETERBOROUGH lost 1-0 at home to PRESTON and that is their seventeenth blank and now two in a row. Preston are on a total of 47 goals. READING lost 3-2 away to Coventry and they are on a total of 37 goals. SWANSEA won 3-1 at home to Bristol City to take their goals tally to 41. 

LEAGUE ONE

We still have the top two teams here as well and they are ROTHERHAM who won 2-0 away to SHEFFIELD WEDNESDAY. Rotherham are now on a total of 63 goals and a goal run of six games. WIGAN remained second place after they won 2-1 at home to CHARLTON. Wigan are on a total of 58 goals after a two game dry spell. Charlton hit goal number 47 and a goal run of seven games.

In the Play-Offs we still have three teams with SUNDERLAND still in fourth place after they drew 1-1 away to AFC Wimbledon. Sunderland are on a total of 64 goals. WYCOMBE have moved up to fifth place after they drew 1-1 away to LINCOLN CITY. Wycombe are on 52 goals after they failed to score in their previous two games. Lincoln are on a total of 39 goals. PLYMOUTH are now in sixth place after they won 1-0 at home to Shrewsbury. Plymouth picked up goal number 64 and have now scored in all of their last fourteen games.

Meanwhile BURTON ALBION drew 2-2 at home against Cambridge Utd. Burton are on a total of 42 goals. IPSWICH picked up their tenth blank of the season after they drew 0-0 away to MK Dons. OXFORD UNITED lost 3-2 at home to BOLTON and they are on a total of 62 goals to Bolton’s total of 52 and a goal run of seven games. PORTSMOUTH won 4-0 at home against Doncaster and they are now on a total of 41 goals. 

LEAGUE TWO

In the Play-Offs we have two teams this week and they are EXETER CITY now in fourth place after they won 1-0 away to Bradford. Exeter are on a total of 45 goals. SUTTON UNITED are down to fifth place after they drew 1-1 at home to Forest Green.   

Meanwhile STEVENAGE drew 0-0 away to Barrow and they have now had a total of fifteen blank score sheets and now two in a row. CARLISLE drew 2-2 away to Colchester and they are on a total of 26 goals. SALFORD CITY are on 39 goals as they win 2-0 away to Leyton Orient. SWINDON won 3-0 at home to bottom of the table SCUNTHORPE. Swindon are now on a total of 52 goals as Scunthorpe picked up their sixteenth blank and now just one goal in their last four games. 

Our BEST three teams this week are

Our WORST three teams are 

SCUNTHORPE (22) BARNSLEY (24) WATFORD (26) Total of 72 goals 

SCOTTISH LEAGUES

In the WILLIAM HILL SCOTTISH CUP fifth round, we had just five of our teams in this round. Out of them three are through to the quarter-finals. They are RANGERS who won 3-0 away to Anna and they are now on a total of 70 goals. CELTIC won 4-0 at home to Ross County and they are now on a total of 72 goals. HEARTS drew 0-0 against Livingston after extra time but won 4-3 on penalties. The teams out are ABERDEEN who lst 2-1 away to Motherwell and that is goal number 35 for them. KELTY HEARTS lost 4-0 away to St Mirren and that is their fourth blank of the season. 

In the Championship KILMARNOCK won 2-1 at home to Dunfermline and they have taken their goals tally to 40.

Our on-form team this week are MANCHESTER CITY after scoring in all of their last seventeen League/Cup games. They have a total of 75 goals. 

Our worst team this week is PETERBOROUGH after they picked up a total of seventeen blank score sheets out of a total of thirty-two league/cup games. They have failed to score in their last two games. 

Our highest goal scorers in our 39th Season are OXFORD UNITED as they won 7-2 away to Gillingham in the league in Week Twenty-Six. FULHAM have now scored seven goals twice this season. They first won 7-0 away to Blackburn Rovers in the league in Week Fourteen and they have also won 7-0 away to Reading in the league in Week Twenty-Four. MANCHESTER CITY winning 7-0 at home to Leeds Utd in the league in Week Twenty. CHELSEA won 7-0 at home to Norwich in the league in Week Twelve. BRENTFORD won 7-0 at home to Oldham in the third round of the Carabao/League Cup in Week Eight.

LYANNA GRIMWOOD has moved back to the top this weekend as she picked up a total of 12 goals for the week. Lyanna has now been top for four weeks over the season. Her teams are Fulham, Manchester City and Sunderland. Peter Wellard drops down to second place after he picked up a total of 10 goals from the week. Peter’s teams are Chelsea, Fulham and Manchester City.

At the other end at 113 we still have ZIGGY (John Wood) again this weekend which is now his twenty-second consecutive weekend at the bottom and now twenty-four over the season. Ziggy picked up just two goals from midweek and failed to pick any up at the weekend. His teams are Crystal Palace, Scunthorpe and Stenhousemuir. 

There is still a little movement in the top ten this weekend.
