Week Twenty-Nine

In Week Twenty-Nine of the competition we had our fifth players to of won twice this season on a total of 10 goals. Our winner was STUART KEMP  with his second combo and he takes the full  £5 Weekend Cash Prize Money this time. Stuart last won with his first combination in Week Eleven when he had to share the cash. With this combination (2) he has picked up a total of two blank weekend score sheets and this is his person best for his second selection. The highest that he has been with this one is now 45th place. His best team are Liverpool. His winning teams are

100 MIDWEEK GOALS JACKPOT

Under half of us managed to pick up some midweek goals this week and the race for the cash has remined the same this week. We still have LYANNA GRIMWOOD in the lead with a total of 92 goals and still needs just eight goals to claim the cash. Lyanna teams are Fulham. Manchester City and Sunderland. In second place we still have BOB SOPER now with a total of 87 goals. In third place is still LOUIE HARRINGTON now with a total of 82 goals. In fourth place with 78 goals we still have PETER PORTER. In fifth place we still have CHRIS BOLBERY and COLIN WEBB both on a total of 75 goals. In sixth place we now have KEAMUS SETNA, SAMUEL STEPHENS and JAMIE WOOD all on a total of 74 goals. 

WEEKEND RESULTS

We had all but eight of our teams in action this weekend as some were cancelled due to the weather we had over the weekend. Out of the ones that did play twelve failed to score any goals. We had a really good weekend as the weekends average score remained at 5 goals for a second weekend running. The highest score came from WYCOMBE with a total of five goals. They drew 5-5 at home against Cheltenham and that is their personal best result this season so far. Wycombe have taken their goals tally up to 57.

Wycombe became our 85th voted English team in their very first season of 1993/94. In that season they finished on a total of 85 goals which is their best end of season score to date. The Last time that we had Wycombe in the competition was back in 2018/19 Season and they ended on a total of 61 goals. This is their 12th Season with Golden Goals and in that time they have scored a total of 788 goals. That now gives them an average score of 65 goals per season to date. They have just one vote this season. 

PREMIER LEAGUE

MANCHESTER CITY have now lost just three league games after they lost 3-2 at home to TOTTENHAM. City are still top of the league and they are on a total of 77 goals. They have extended their goal run to eighteen games. Tottenham have taken their goals total to 42. LIVERPOOL are still in second place as they won 3-1 at home to Norwich after going a goal down. Liverpool are now on a total of 81 goals and a goal run of seven games. CHELSEA are still in third place after they won 1-0 away to CRYSTAL PALACE. Chelsea picked up their 63rd goal of the season while Palace picked up their ninth blank and now two in a row. MANCHESTER UNITED are back in fourth place as they win 4-2 away to Leeds Utd. United are now on 46 goals and a goal run of nine games. WEST HAM are down to fifth place after they drew 1-1 at home to Newcastle to pick up goal number 51. ARSENAL won 2-1 at home to BRENTFORD and they are on a total of 52 goals while Brentford picked up goal number 44 after they had failed to score in their previous two games. ASTON VILLA lost 1-0 at home to WATFORD and that is their sixth blank and now two games in a row. Watford after failing to score in their last four games, are now on a total of 27 goals. BRIGHTON picked up their eighth blank and now two in a row after they lost 3-0 at home to Burnley. WOLVES won 2-1 at home to LEICESTER CITY and they are on a total of 32 goals to Leicester’s total of 49. 

CHAMPIONSHIP

We still have the top two here with FULHAM top after they lost 2-1 at home to Huddersfield. Fulham hit goal number 83 and have scored in all of their last ten games. Bournemouth remain in second place after their game was cancelled due to the weather.

In the Play-Offs we have just one team this weekend and they are SHEFFIELD UNITED in sixth place. They won 4-0 at home to SWANSEA. After a dry spell of two blank score sheets, United have taken their goals total to 46. Swansea picked up their twelfth blank of the season.

Meanwhile CARDIFF CITY drew 1-1 at home to Blackpool and they are on a total of 45 goals and a goal run of eight games. Bottom of the table BARNSLEY lost 1-0 away to Coventry. That is their seventeenth blank of the season. DERBY won 1-0 at home against PETERBOROUGH and they are on a total of 37 goals. Borough picked up their nineteenth blank and now four in a row. WEST BROM picked up their fifteenth blank and now five in a row after they lost 2-0 away to Luton. PRESTON lost 3-2 at home to READING and they are on a total of 49 goals while Reading take their goals tally to 40. After a dry spell fo two games, HULL are on 30 goals after they drew 1-1 away to QPR. 

LEAGUE ONE

We still have the top two teams here with Rotherham at the top and Wigan in second place.

In the Play-Offs we still have three teams with OXFORD UNITED back in fourth place after they won 4-0 away to CHARLTON. Oxford are now on a total of 66 goals while Charlton picked up their eight blank of the season after a goal run of seven games. PLYMOUTH are now in fifth place after they won 2-0 away to Gillingham. Plymouth are on a total of 66 goals and they have now scored in all of their last fifteen games. Wycombe have moved down to sixth place after their draw.

Meanwhile BOLTON won 4-0 at home against AFC Wimbledon and they are now on a total of 57 and a goal run of nine games. SHEFFIELD WEDNESDAY won 3-0 away to Doncaster and they have taken their goals total up to 47. IPSWICH won 3-0 at home to BURTON ALBION and they are now on a total of 55 goals while Burton picked up their ninth blank of the season. SUNDERLAND lost 2-1 at home to MK Dons and they are on a total of 65 goals. 

LEAGUE TWO

In the Play-Offs we now have three teams this week and they are Exeter City still in fourth place with SUTTON UNITED still in fifth place after they drew 1-1 away to Hartlepool.  Sutton are on a total of 50 goals. SWINDON are now in seventh place after they won 3-0 away to CARLISLE UNITED. Swindon have taken their goals tally to 55 goals while Carlisle picked up their sixteenth blank of the season

Meanwhile SCUNTHORPE are rock bottom of the league after they lost 2-1 at home to Rochdale. Scunthorpe picked up goal number 23 and now just two goal in their last five games. STEVENAGE lost 4-0 at home to Bristol Rovers and that is their sixteenth blank and now three games in a row.

SCOTTISH LEAGUES

In the Premiership CELTIC are now three point in front after they won 3-2 at home to Dundee. Celtic are now on a total of 75 goals and a goal run of ten games. RANGERS have remained in second place after they drew 1-1 away to Dundee Utd after going a goal down. Rangers are on a total of 71 goals. HEARTS remain in third place after they lost 2-1 away to St Johnstone and they are on a total of 51 goals. ABERDEEN drew 1-1 away to Motherwell and they are on a total of 37 goals. 

In the Championship KILMARNOCK won 3-0 at home to Raith Rovers and they have now taken their goals tally to 43.

In League Two KELTY HEARTS remained at the top after they lost 1-0 away to Forfar. Kelty have now had a total of five blank score sheets and now two in a row. STENHOUSEMUIR drew1-1 away to Stranraer and they are on a total of 44 goals. 

Our on-form team this week are MANCHESTER CITY after scoring in all of their last eighteen League/Cup games. They have a total of 77 goals. 

Our worst team this week is PETERBOROUGH after they picked up a total of nineteen blank score sheets out of a total of thirty-four league/cup games. They have failed to score in their last four games. 

Our highest goal scorers in our 39th Season are OXFORD UNITED as they won 7-2 away to Gillingham in the league in Week Twenty-Six. FULHAM have now scored seven goals twice this season. They first won 7-0 away to Blackburn Rovers in the league in Week Fourteen and they have also won 7-0 away to Reading in the league in Week Twenty-Four. MANCHESTER CITY winning 7-0 at home to Leeds Utd in the league in Week Twenty. CHELSEA won 7-0 at home to Norwich in the league in Week Twelve. BRENTFORD won 7-0 at home to Oldham in the third round of the Carabao/League Cup in Week Eight.

LYANNA GRIMWOOD has remained top this weekend for her second weekend as she picked up a total of just 4 goals at the weekend. Lyanna has now been top for five weeks over the season. Her teams are Fulham, Manchester City and Sunderland. Scott Thomson (2) moves into second place after he picked up a total of 9 goals from the weekend. Scott’s teams are Liverpool, Manchester City and Oxford United.

At the other end at 113 we still have ZIGGY (John Wood) again this weekend which is now his twenty-third consecutive weekend at the bottom and now twenty-five over the season. Ziggy picked up just two goals from the weekend. His teams are Crystal Palace, Scunthorpe and Stenhousemuir. 

There has been a little change in the top ten this week, but the competition is now wide open.
