Week Twenty

In Week Twenty of the competition it’s half-time here at Golden Goals and the good news is that we had a total of three winners this weekend to share the £6 Weekend Jackpot.  All of the three players are first time winners this season and they were SEAN GOUGH, NICK HORTON and EMMA NEWMAN. All three won on a score of just 9 goals each and it takes our winners total for our 36th Season up to twenty-two.
Sean is in his second season with Golden Goals and last season he finished in 118th place on a total of 245 goals. This season Sean has been as high as 47th place and that was in Weeks Six and Eight. He has picked up just one blank score sheet to date. Manchester City is his best team.
Nick is in his tenth season with us and in his first season of 2009/10, Nick finished in 82nd place out of 93 with a total of 241 goals. Last season he finished in 96th place on 258 goals. This season he has picked up three blank weekend score sheets and his highest position to date is 38th place in Week Seven. Manchester City is also his best team.
Emma is our fifth lady to win this season and this is her very first season with us. Emma’s highest position is 28th place in Week One of the competition. Emma had picked up just two blank score sheets and yes, Manchester City is her best team too.

100 MIDWEEK GOALS JACKPOT
Only twenty-one players picked some more midweek goals this week with two players picking up the most amount of goals with four goals each. So the race for the cash has changed once again this week.
GRAHAM HARRIS is still out in front and just over half way to the cash as he has extended his lead to a total of 52 goals as he picks up another eight goals from his combination of Hearts, Tottenham and West Brom. In second place and now nine goals behind Graham, we have JOHN DAVIES now with a total of 43 goals. Still in third place with a total of 40 goals we have TERRY WARWICK. In joint fourth place all on 39 goals we have JAMES BLYTH, GARY BROWN, JUNE TIGHE, RYAN WILLIAMS and DAVE WOOD. Remaining in joint fifth place we have ANN WELLARD and JACQUI WILLIAMS both on a total of 38 goals.

WEEKEND RESULTS
This weekend once again only two players failed to pick any goals this weekend as we hit half time. We had a really low scoring weekend for goals although we had seven teams without a game this weekend and another eleven teams that failed to score any goals. So the average score went up back down from six goals from last weekend to 5 goals this weekend.
The highest score that we had this weekend came from two of our teams, OLDHAM and RAITH ROVERS with four goals each.

PREMIERSHIP
We are down to the top nine teams now in the prem with LIVERPOOL remaining top after they won 3-1 at home to MANCHESTER UNITED in sixth place. Liverpool are now on a total of 38 goals and they have now scored in all of their last nine games. United picked up goal number 31. MANCHESTER CITY are still in second place after they won 3-1 at home to EVERTON. City have now taken their goals tally to 53 goals while Everton scored goal number 28. TOTTENHAM are still in third place after they won 1-0 at home to Burnley to pick up goal number 36. CHELSEA are still fourth after they won 2-1 away to Brighton bringing their goals tally up to 40 goals. ARSENAL in fifth place lost 3-2 away to Southampton and they are now on 42 goals. WOLVES are in seventh place as they win 2-0 at home to BOURNEMOUTH. Wolves are now on a total of 21 goals while Bournemouth picked up their fifth blank score sheet and now two in a row. WEST HAM have moved up to ninth place after another winning 2-0 away to FULHAM. West Ham are now on a total of 37 goals while Fulham picked up their ninth blank score sheet and remain rooted at the foot of the league. LEICESTER CITY picked up their fifth blank of the season and now two in a row as they lost 1-0 away to Crystal Palace.

CHAMPIONSHIP
In the Championship, LEEDS UNITED are back on top here and one point in front of Norwich, after they won 1-0 away to Bolton.  Leeds have taken their goals total up to 38 and they have now scored in all of their last sixteen games. ASTON VILLA drew 2-2 at home to STOKE to take their goals tally up to 44 goals while Stoke are on 33 goals. It’s 40 for BLACKBURN as they drew 2-2 at home to BIRMINGHAM. Blackburn have now scored in all of their last eleven games.Birmingham are now on 32. HULL won 2-0 at home to BRENTFORD and they are now on 24 goals while Brentford picked up their fourth blank of the season. IPSWICH won their second game of the season by beating Wigan 1-0 at home. Ipswich are now on a total of 19 goals but they are still bottom and four points behind Bolton. ROTHERHAM drew 1-1 at home to reading and that is their 26th goal of the season. SWANSEA won 2-1 at home against Sheffield Wednesday and they are now on 27 goals.

LEAGUE ONE
We still have the top five here with PORTSMOUTH still top as they drew 1-1 away to BARNSLEY. Portsmouth are now on 42 goals while Barnsley are on 44. LUTON are second as they win 2-1 away to COVENTRY. Luton are on 46 goals this week while Coventry are on 25 goals. SUNDERLAND are still in third place after they won 2-1 at home to BRISTOL ROVERS. Sunderland are on 44 goals to Rovers 23. PETERBOROUGH are in fourth place as they drew 2-2 away to SHREWSBURY. Borough are now on a total of 49 goals while Shrewsbury are on 32 goals. CHARLTON are now in fifth place as they win 2-0 at home to AFC Wimbeldon to take their goals total to 42. SCUNTHORPE picked up their ninth blank score sheet and now four games without a goal as they lost 3-0 away to Doncaster. BURTON ALBION lost 1-0 away to Fleetwood and that is their fourth blank score sheet. WYCOMBE drew 2-2 away to Gillingham but they are now on a total of 38 goals. PLYMOUTH won 2-1 away to ROCHDALE and they are now on 31 goals to Rochdales 34. SOUTHEND are on 39 goals as they win 3-0 at home to ACCRINGTON who picked up their fifth blank of the season.

LEAGUE TWO
Top two here with LINCOLN CITY going back on top after they won 3-1 at home to Morecambe. Lincoln are now on 48 goals. MK Dons had their game postponed due to the weather. EXETER after a two game dry spell for goals are now on 33 as they win 1-0 at home against Crewe. SWINDON picked up goal number 28 as they lost 2-1 away to Grimsby. NOTTS COUNTY have not been doing well lately but they are now on 28 goals as they win 3-2 at home to Tranmere. OLDHAM have picked up their biggest result of the season so far as they win 4-2 at home to Bury. Oldham are now on 36 goals. 

SCOTTISH LEAGUES
In the Premiership, RANGERS are back on top after they won just 1-0 at home to HAMILTON. That is their 46th goal of the season while Hamilton picked up their twelfth blank and now three in a row. CELTIC are down to third place after they lost their third game of the season as they went down 2-0 away to HIBERNIAN. Celtic have now picked up four over the season. Hibs have taken their goals tally up to 39 goals. ABERDEEN are in fourth place after they won 2-1 away to St Mirren. Aberdeen are now on 27 goals.  
In the Championship, AYR UNITED are still top as they drew 3-3 at home to second place ROSS COUNTY. AYR are now on 51 goals while County are on 39. ALLOA drew 2-2 away to Partick to take their goals total to 26 goals while FALKIRK are still bottom of the table as they drew 0-0 at home to Morton.  That is now eleven blank score sheets for Falkirk.
In League One, STENHOUSEMUIR are still bottom of the league after they lost 2-0 at home to East Fife and that is their ninth blank of the season. RAITH ROVERS in second place won 4-2 at home to DUMBARTON.  Rovers are now on a total of 44 goals and they have now scored in all of their last eighteen games. Dumbarton are now on 29 goals.

Our Best teams this week are RAITH ROVERS after they have scored in all of their last eighteen League and Cup games out of twenty-two played. They have a total of 44 goals which gives them a average score of 2 goals per game.

Our worst team is HAMILTON again this weekend as they have picked up a total of twelve blank score sheets out of twenty-two league and cup games played this season. They have failed to scored in their last four games.

Our biggest result in our 36th Season are now WEST HAM UNITED who won 8-0 at home against Macclesfield in the Carabao/League Cup Third Round in Week Nine.

JAMES SOMERVILLE is still top this weekend on goal difference after he collected a total of six goals all coming from the weekend. James has now been top for a total of four weeks over the season. His teams are once again Ayr United, Celtic and Manchester City. GARY BROWN has moved back up to second place as he picked up a total of eight goals over the weekend. Gary has Ayr United, Manchester City and Sunderland.
At the other end at 133 we still have John Filtness at the bottom for his eleventh consecutive weekend as he picks up a total of five goals all from the weekend. He has now had fourteen weeks at the bottom and he is now eleven goals adrift this weekend. His teams are  Birmingham, Hamilton and Liverpool.
