The first round of the Scottish League Cup has now been played and they have once again played the first round in group stages. In our 39th Season we have just seven Scottish teams taking part and four of them have already played in the first round and only two have made it through to the next round.
In Group A, HEARTS finished in top position in this group once again after they have played all of their four games and won all four. They won 1-0 at home to Inverness, then 2-0 away to Stirling. In their third game they won 3-0 at home to Cove rangers and then 2-0 away to Peterhead. They are at the moment on a total of 8 goals. Stirling Albion finished in second place.
In Group B, KELTY HEARTS finished in third place winning two of their four games. They first lost 3-2 away to Arbroath and then they won 3-1 at away to Elgin City. They won their third game 3-0 home to east Fife before they lost 1-0 at home to Dundee Utd. The new boys are on a total of 8 goals and out of the competition. Dundee United finished top with Arbroath in second place.
In Group C, Dundee finished top with Forfar finishing in second place.
In Group D, Raith Rovers finished top with Livingston in second place.
In Group E, Ayr United finished top with Hamilton finishing in second place.
In Group F, Motherwell finished top with Queens Park in second place.
In Group G, KILMARNOCK finished in top position. They won their first game 2-1 at home to Stranraer and then they drew 1-1 at home to Morton winning 4-3 on penalties. In their third game they lost 2-1 away to Clyde and won their last game 2-0 away to East Kilbride. Kilmarnock are on a total of 5 goals. Stranraer finished in second place.
In Group H, STENHOUSEMUIR only won one of their games to finish in fourth place in the group. They first lost 4-1 away to Dunfermline and then they lost 3-1 at home to St Mirren. In their third game they lost 2-1 at home to Partick and then they won 2-1 away to Dumbarton. Stenhousemuir are currently on a total of 5 goals and out of the cup. St Mirren finished top with Dunfermline in second place.
The second round games, which will be back to
the knock out rounds, are to be played on the 13th August with the Scottish
Premiership teams joining in which will include ABERDEEN, CELTIC and RANGERS
for our Golden Goals fans.
