Week Ten

In Week Ten of the competition we are half-way through the first half of the season. We had a total of five players that picked up the highest score of 9 goals each. Under the competition rules, we can only payout four winners, unless it’s a Rollover weekend. The five players are GEOFF CARTHY, TONY KING, DOUG MORBEY, JED WEADEN and PETER WELLARD.

100 MIDWEEK GOALS JACKPOT

Most of us picked up some goals in midweek, which means that there is yet another slight change in the race for the cash. We had two players that picked up the highest midweek score with 7 goals each. They are ANDY EYLES and PETER PORTER.

We have joint leaders this week with our 2015/16 Champion RICHARD WILLIAMS still there but is now joined with BAILEY MORAN up from third place both with a total of 28 goals. In second place we still have CHARLIE FARLEY (John Wood) with a total of 27 goals. In third place we now have ANDY EYLES up from sixth place with a total of 26 goals. In fourth place now with 25 goals we still have JAMES SOMERVILLE. In fifth place we still have TONY KING but he is now joined with our 2017/18 Champion CHRIS BOLBERY, MARK JOHNSTON and PETER PORTER. All with a total of 23 goals. In sixth place we still have RICHIE WILLIAMS and he has with him GEOFF CARTHY coming back in the race. Both are on a total of 22 goals.

WEEKEND RESULTS

We had all but three of our teams in action over the weekend and we had another 12 our teams that failed to score any goals. We had another fantastic weekend of football with plenty of goals, as the average score for the second weekend running remains at 5 goals. So if your combination picked up more than that, then you have done very well this weekend. The Highest score over the weekend was 4 goals and we had six of our teams that reached that number.

PREMIER LEAGUE

TOTTENHAM are back at the top after they won 1-0 away to Luton. Tottenham are on a total of 19 goals and they have also kept their 100% scoring record after nine league/cup games. ARSENAL won 1-0 at home to MANCHESTER CITY and moved up to second place. Arsenal are on a total of 17 goals and have kept their 100% scoring record after a total of 9 league/cup games. City are now down to third place as they pick up their second blank of the season and now just one goal in their last three games. CHELSEA picked up their biggest win of the season by winning 4-1 away to Burnley. Chelsea have taken their goals total to 14. BOURNEMOUTH lost 3-0 away to Everton and picked up their fourth blank of the season and now two games in a row. FULHAM won 3-1 at home to Sheffield Utd. With their biggest result of the season, Fulham are now on a total of 11 goals. BRIGHTON drew 2-2 at home to LIVERPOOL and they are on a total of 21 goals while Liverpool are on 21 and have extended their goal run to 9 league/cup games. WEST HAM drew 2-2 at home to NEWCASTLE and they are on a total of 16 goals and they have also scored in all of their 9 league/cup games. Newcastle are on 21 goals and they have scored in all of their last 7 league/cup games. ASTON VILLA drew 1-1 away to Wolves and picked up goal number 20. MANCHESTER UNITED won 2-1 at home to Brentford and they are on a total of 12 goals. CRYSTAL PALACE drew 0-0 at home to NOTTINGHAM FOREST. As Palace picked up their fourth blank score sheet and now just one goal in their last three games, Forest picked up their third with just one goal in their last 3 games.

CHAMPIONSHIP

LEICESTER CITY are still top after they won 2-0 at home to STOKE. Leicester are now on a total of 28 goals and a goal run of 7 league/cup games. Stoke picked up their seventh blank of the season and now two games in a row without a goal. IPSWICH are still in second place and 2 points behind City after they won 4-2 at home to Preston. Ipswich have kept their 100% scoring record going after a total of 14 league/cup games. They are now on a total of 32 goals. SUNDERLAND lost 4-0 at home to MIDDLESBROUGH and picked up their third blank of the season. Middlesbrough picked up their biggest win of the season and are now on a total of 24 goals and a goal run of 7 league/cup games. NORWICH drew 1-1 away to Coventry and are on a total of 24 goals. LEEDS UNITED won 2-1 at home to BRISTOL CITY and are on a total of 20 goals while Bristol are on 19 goals. PLYMOUTH lost 3-1 at home to SWANSEA and they are on a total of 22 goals while Swansea are now on 23 goals. SOUTHAMPTON drew 1-1 at home to Rotherham and are on a total of 18 goals. SHEFFIELD WEDNESDAY are rock bottom here after they drew 0-0 at home to Huddersfield and that is their seventh blank score sheet and they have now failed to score in their last 4 games.

LEAGUE ONE

BRISTOL ROVERS lost 2-1 away to Oxford Utd and are on a total of 16 goals. CHARLTON drew 2-2 at home to BLACKPOOL and they are on a total of 16 goals. Blackpool are on 14 goals. DERBY drew 1-1 away to Cheltenham and are on a total of 18 goals. BARNSLEY won 1-0 away to Exeter and are now on a total of 27 goals.  READING lost 2-1 away to Leyton Orient and are on a total of 15 goals. PETERBOROUGH won 2-0 at home to Lincoln City and are on a total of 22 goals and they have now scored in all of their last 10 league/cup games.

LEAGUE TWO

NOTTS COUNTY are still top of the table after they drew 1-1 away to Barrow. County are now on a total of 27 goals and a goal run of 9 league/cup games. WREXHAM won 1-0 away to Crawley and are on a total of 21 goals. After they had failed to score in their last two games, MK DONS lost 2-1 away to Gillingham and they are on a total of 17 goals. AFC WIMBLEDON drew 0-0 away to Mansfield and picked up their second blank of the season after a goal run of  twelve league/cup games. SALFORD CITY won 4-2 at home to Crewe and they are now on a total of 22 goals. After they had failed to score in their last two games, SUTTON UNITED won 4-0 at home to Walsall away to Crawley and they have taken their goals tally to 20.

SCOTTISH LEAGUES

In the Premiership CELTIC top of the table, won 3-1 at home to KILMARNOCK. Celtic have now taken their goals tally to 19 while Kilmarnock also picked up goal number 19. RANGERS are up to second place this weekend, after they won 3-0 away to St Mirren. Rangers are now on a total of 19 goals. ABERDEEN drew 0-0 at home to St Johnston and that is their fourth blank of the season. HIBERNIAN drew 2-2 away to Hearts and they are on a total of 22 goals.

In League One FALKIRK are still top after they drew 0-0 at home to Hamilton. Falkirk picked up their second blank of the season after a goal run of 9 league/cup games. KELTY HEARTS won 4-1 away to Edinburgh City and they are now on a total of 26 goals. COVE RANGERS won 3-2 at home to Anna and are now on a total of 25 goals.

In League Two CLYDE lost 4-0 at home to Dumbarton. Clyde have now had a total of six blank score sheets.

Our BEST three teams this week

Our WORST three teams are

SHEFFIELD WEDNESDAY (7) NOTTINGHAM FOREST (8) BOURNEMOUTH (10) Total of 25 goals

Our Best performing team is IPSWICH TOWN after they have now scored in all of their 14  league/cup games. They have a total of 32 goals which gives them an average score of 2 goals per game.

Our worst performing team is SHEFFIELD WEDNESDAY this weekend as they have picked up seven blank score sheets out of their 13 league/cup games.

Our highest goal scoring team in our 41st Season are now NEWCASTLE UNITED after they won 8-0 away to Sheffield United in Week Eight.  BURNSLEY pick up our second highest score after they won 7-0 at home to Port Vale in the first league game of the season in Week One.

We have a new leader this weekend with PETER PORTER becoming the third player to do so this season. Peter picked up a total of 13 goals from the week. His teams are Barnsley, Celtic and Leicester City.  He is 2 goals clear of Andy Eyles who has remained in second place. Andy picked up a total of 10 goals this week from his teams of  Barnsley, Leicester City and Manchester City.

At the other end at 110 we now have JOHN NICHOLLS who now becomes our the seventh player to stay there. John picked up just 4 goals from the week. His teams are Bristol Rovers, Manchester City and Nottingham Forest.
