Week Twenty-Three

In Week Twenty-Three of the competition and we had just one player to pick up the full amount of cash once again this weekend.  With their second win of the season it went to AMANDA MORRISON who won on her personal best score with 10 goals.
Amanda first won in week thirteen with a shared win on 8 goals. After her win she fell all the way down to 132 but she has been slowly moving back up the table . Amanda has still scored every weekend and her best team is Manchester City. Her teams are once again

FALKIRK 6, MANCHESTER CITY 4, SCUNTHORPE -

100 MIDWEEK GOALS JACKPOT
We have now added another twenty-nine players that are on 50 or more midweek goals and that takes our total to 116 out of 149. It was STUART KEMP  that picked up the most with 11 goals.  They came from Liverpool four from two games, Manchester City three and Manchester United with again four goals from their two games. So with the big scores that we had once again the race for the cash has changed quite a lot this week.
We have a new leader in first place this week on a total of 72 goals we have STEPHEN LEADER who has moved up from three last week. In second place on 71 goals we now have last weeks joint leader JAMES BLYTH and up from four MATT DORAN. In third place all on 70 goals we have STEPHANIE CHRISTIE up from four, (Me) STEVE REEVE up from five and back in the race CHRIS SETFORD.  In fourth place down from two we have ROB FREEMAN and TONY GUY (1) and  DAVE WOOD from joint first place. All of them are on 69 goals. In fifth place all on 68 we have PHIL FRANCKSEN and TONY GUY (2) both down from four while BOB SAWYER and JUNE TIGHE have remained in their position.

WEEKEND RESULTS
The first fixture of 2018 was as last year ended being very quite this weekends average score remained at just 2 goals.  This weekend we had ten teams without a game and another twenty teams that failed to score any goals.
The highest score that we had over the weekend was six goals once again and they came from the Scottish Championship where FALKIRK won 6-1 at home to Dundee United. Falkirk who have not been playing all that well this season picked up their highest score to date and are now on a total of 32 goals.
This is Falkirks seventh Season with Golden Goals and they started with us back in the 2002/03 Season to be our 27th voted Scottish team in. They finished with a total of 92 goals which is their best to date.  Last season they finished on 65 goals. Over the years they have netted a total of 506 goals which gives them an average score of 72 goals per season. They have just one vote this season.

FA CUP Third Round
We already know that two of our teams are through to the next round and they are Liverpool and Manchester United who played on Friday night. But we had another thirty-seven of our teams in action over the weekend. Out of them only eleven have also added their name to that list.
We had loads of shocks in this round which we will tell you as we go along with the results. The ones that are through are TOTTENHAM who won 3-0 at home to AFC Wimbledon and they are now on a total of 48 goals. MANCHESTER CITY won 4-1 at home to Burnley after going a goal down in the first half. City are now on a total of 71 goals and it looks as though they will add another 100 goals to their records. PETERBOROUGH won 3-1 away to ASTON VILLA again going a goal down in the first half. Borough are now on 59 goals as Villa picked up gaol number 45. BIRMINGHAM beat BURTON ALBION 1-0 at home to go through. Birmingham are on 22 goals while Albion picked up their thirteenth blank of the season. HULL who have not been doing well in the league, won 1-0 away to BLACKBURN. Hull are now on 40 goals while Blackburn picked up their fifth blank of the season and stops their goal run of fourteen games. COVENTRY beat Stoke 2-1 at home and are now on a total of 36 goals. WEST BROM won 2-0 away to EXETER and they take their goals tally to 22. Exeter picked up their sixth blank of the season. SHEFFIELD UNITED knocked out IPSWICH 1-0 away to get goal number 45. Ipswich get their eighth blank score sheet and now just two goals in their last five games. MIDDLESBROUGH are on 43 goals as they win 2-0 at home to SUNDERLAND who picked up their ninth blank and now two in a row. NEWCASTLE beat LUTON 3-1 at home to take their goals tally to 25 while Luton are on 69. MK DONS won 1-0 away to QUEENS PARK RANGERS and they are now on 39 goals. Rangers picked up their eighth blank of the season.
Teams that went out and the shock of the day is Nottingham Forest knocking out ARSENAL 4-2 at home. Arsenal are now on 46 goals. Also out is LEEDS UNITED. They lost 2-1 away to Newport. Leeds are on 50 goals. BOLTON lost 2-1 at home to Huddersfield and that was goal number 31 for them. BRENTFORD picked up their eighth blank and now two in a row as they went out 1-0 at home to Notts County. DONCASTER lost 1-0 at home to Rochdale and that is their thirteenth blank of the season. FULHAN lost 1-0 at home to Southampton and that was their seventh blank score sheet. BRADFORD lost 2-0 away to Yeovil and that is their sixth blank of the season. 
Now we have a total of eleven teams that will be in replays. They are WEST HAM who drew 0-0 away to Shrewsbury in a very disappointing game for them. West Ham picked up their ninth blank score sheet. BOURNEMOUTH drew 2-2 at home to WIGAN and they are now on 31 goals to Wigan’s 61. CARDIFF drew 0-0 at home to MANSFIELD and both teams have now had a total of seven blank score sheets. FLEETWOOD drew 0-0 at home to LEICESTER CITY to get their seventh blank while City picked up their fifth. CHELSEA drew 0-0 away to NORWICH and that is their fifth and Norwich’s eighth blank score sheet. READING picked up their eleventh and now two in a row as they drew 0-0 away to Stevenage.  WOLVES drew 0-0 at home to Swansea and that is blank number five for them.

LEAGUE ONE
It’s 40 for CHARLTON as they win 1-0 at home to Oldham. SOUTHEND lost 3-1 away to Northampton and they are now on 31 goals while PLYMOUTH are also on 31 goals as they win 3-0 at home against Bury.

LEAGUE TWO
COLCHESTER lost 4-1 at home against Cheltenham and they are now on 37 goals after a two game dry spell for goals. FOREST GREEN are on 31 goals as they win 1-0 at home to PORT VALE who picked up their tenth blank and now two in a row.

SCOTTISH RESULTS
There are no Scottish Prem games as they take their winter break  but in the Scottish League One RAITH ROVERS are now on 51 goals as they win 2-1 at home to Forfar. In League Two PETERHEAD are in second place as they win 4-1 away to STENHOUSEMUIR. Peterhead have now netted a total of twenty goals in their last four games. They are now on a grand total of 68. Stenhousemuir are on 37. ELGIN CITY are on 37 as they win 2-1 at home to Clyde.

The team with the best run of goals is currently PETERHESD who have scored in all of their last twelve games.

BIRMINGHAM, BURTON ALBION and DONCASTER have all picked up the most number of blank score sheets with a total of thirteen games each.

Our highest goal scoring team in our 35th Season is PETERHEAD from the Scottish League Two. They picked up our highest score in week eleven as they won 9-0 at home to non-league team Colville Park in the WILLIAM HILL CUP Second Round. 

Our 2013/14 Champion PAUL DAVEY  is now in his eighth consecutive weekend at  the top. Paul’s combination picked him up seven goals in midweek and another five from the weekend. Paul has Celtic, Luton and Manchester City. Chris Boom has moved back up to second place after picking up a total of eighteen goals for the week. 

At the other end at number 149 we still have COLIN PINDER who is now spending his tenth consecutive weekend there and now twelve over the Season. Colin picked up four  goals from his combination. His teams are Colchester, Crystal Palace and Southend.

Not a great start to the New Year but the top ten has changed once again

FA CUP Third Round

We have had the first games of the third round played where we had three of our teams in action. LIVERPOOL beat local rivals EVERTON 2-1 at home to go through to the next round. Liverpool take their goals tally to 52 goals while Everton hit goal number 30. MANCHESTER UNITED are also through as they win 2-0 at home to Derby. United are now on a total of 54 goals.

Up The Hammer's

In the English Premiership, TOTTENHAM drew 1-1 at home to WEST HAM after going a goal down midway in the second half. Both teams have already played this week and had both won their games. Tottenham are now on a total of 45 goals while West Ham hit goal number 33 and have moved up to 14th place in the league.

Chelsea are still in Third Place

In the English Premiership, CHELSEA have remained in third place after they drew 2-2 away to their London rivals ARSENAL. Chelsea are now on a total of 50 goals while Arsenal are now on 44.

City back to their winning ways

In the English Premiership Champions MANCHESTER CITY are back to their winning ways as they win 3-1 at home to Watford and take their goals tally up to 67 goals. CRYSTAL PALACE won 2-1 away to Southampton and they are now on 24 goals. TOTTENHAM won 2-0 away to Swansea to give them a total of 44 goals while WEST HAM won 2-1 against WEST BROM at home after going a goal down. West Ham are now on 32 goals and West Brom hit goal number 20.

In the Championship Leaders WOLVES won 3-0 at home to BRENTFORD and they are now on 54 goals while Brentford picked up their seventh blank of the season. FULHAM are now on 41 goals as they win 4-1 at home to IPSWICH who are now on 46 goals. BIRMINGHAM won 2-0 away to READING and they are now on 21 goals. Reading picked up their tenth blank score sheet.

In the Scottish Championship FALKIRK lost 2-0 away to Dunfermline and that is their ninth blank of the season. In League One RAITH ROVERS won 3-2 away to East Fife and that takes them up to a total of 49 goals. In League Two the biggest score of 2018 so far is where PETERHEAD won 7-0 at home to ELGIN CITY and that shoots them up to 64 goals and that is now thirteen goals in their last two games. Elgin picked up their tenth blank of the season. STENHOUSEMUIR won 2-1 at home to Stirling and they are now on 36 goals.

New Years Day Games

2018 has started off well for most of our Golden Goals teams that have played on New Year’s Day.
In the English Premiership BOURNEMOUTH drew 2-2 away to Brighton to take their goals tally to 29 while it’s 50 goals for LIVERPOOL as they win 2-1 away to Burnley. MANCHESTER UNITED won 2-0 away to EVERTON which now gives them a total of 52 goals. Everton have picked up their eighth blank and now just one goal in their last four games. LEICESTER CITY won 3-0 at home to Huddersfield and they gives them a total of 44 goals. After a two game dry spell for goals and just three goals in their last five games, NEWCASTLE are now on 22 goals as they win 1-0 away to Stoke.

In the Championship ASTON VILLA won 5-0 at home to Bristol City and with their highest score of the season they are now on a total of 44 goals. It’s 30 goals for BOLTON as they win 1-0 at home to HULL. Hull look in trouble now, being fourth from bottom and now just two goals in their last five games. They have now had a total of seven blank score sheets this season. SHEFFIELD UNITED drew 1-1 away to Derby and that was goal number 44 for them. LEEDS UNITED picked up their second blank score sheet as they drew 0-0 at home to Nottingham Forest. Leeds have now had a total of seven blanks over the season. NORWICH won 2-1 at home to Millwall and they are now on 37 goals while MIDDLESBROUGH are on 41 as they win 3-2 away to Preston. After a two game dry spell for goals, QUEENS PARK RANGERS are now on 30 goals as they win 2-1 at home against CARDIFF. Cardiff are now on a total of 39 goals. We have not had a big score from BURTON ALBION for a long while but they won 3-0 away to Sheffield Wednesday and they are now on 26 goals. It’s another blank for SUNDERLAND as they lost 1-0 at home to Barnsley. That was Sunderland’s eighth blank of the season and now just three goals in their last six games.

In League One After a two game dry spell top of the table WIGAN won 1-0 away to Northampton to take their goals total to 59. SOUTHEND lost 1-0 away to AFC Wimbledon and that is their ninth blank of the season. PORTSMOUTH lost 2-1 away to Bristol Rovers and that is goal number 34. CHARLTON are on 39 goals as they lost 2-1 at home to Gillingham. BRADFORD are on 49 as they win 2-1 away to FLEETWOOD who are now on 42 goals. MK DONS lost 3-1 away to Oxford and they are now on 38 goals. PETERBOROUGH drew 1-1 at home against DONCASTER and they are now on 56 goals to Doncaster's 43. PLYMOUTH won 1-0 at home against Walsall and they take their goals tally to 28. BLACKBURN have extended their goals run to fourteen games as they drew 1-1 away to Rotherham and taken their goals tally to 55. SCUNTHORPE won 1-0 at home against Bury and that is their 41st goal of the season.

In League Two top of the table LUTON won 4-2 at home to LINCOLN CITY and that now gives them a total of 68 goals to Lincolns 36. COVENTRY have moved into third place after they win 1-0 at home against Chesterfield. Coventry are now on 34 goals. COLCHESTER picked up blank number eight and now two in a row after they drew 0-0 at home to Cambridge Utd. FOREST GREEN are on 30 goals as they lost 2-1 at home to Wycombe. MANSFIELD won 3-1 at home to Carlisle and that now gives them a total of 44 goals. EXETER are on 44 goals but lost 2-1 away to Newport. PORT VALE picked up their ninth blank score sheet after they lost 1-0 away to Notts County.

Week Twenty-Two

In Week Twenty-Two of the competition and we had just one player to pick up the full amount of cash this weekend with his first win of the season and it went to BEN SCARBOROUGH who now becomes our 30th winner and the last of 2017. Ben won on a score of 9 goals which is his personal best. This is his first season with us and it has been a struggle for him.
The highest that Ben has been is 122 and his teams have scored in very weekend played so far. Chelsea is his best team.

We have now doubled the total number of players that are on 50 or more midweek goals to a fantastic eighty-seven and this is all down to the Boxing day games. We had three players that picked up the most with 12 goals each and they all had Tottenham as part of their combo. They were GARY BROWN, JASON COOPER and SORAN SEYEDI.  So with the big scores that we had the race for the cash has changed slightly again this week.
In first place on 67 goals we have JAMES BLYTH who is now joined with DAVE WOOD from second place . In second place on 66 goals we now have ROB FREEMAN from three and TONY GUY (1) moving up from four. In third place with 65 goals we have STEPHEN LEADER up from fourth place. In fourth place all on 64 goals we still  have MATT DORAN and TONY GUY (2). Moving down from three is MIKE PEPPERRELL and moving into the race with have PHIL FRANCKSEN and STEPHANIE CHRISTIE. In fifth place all on 63 goals we have SIMON DICKINSON and (Me) STEVE REEVE. Joining us we have BOB SAWYER and JUNE TIGHE.

WEEKEND RESULTS

The highest score that we had over the weekend was six goals and they came from the Scottish League Two where Peterhead won 6-2 away to Montrose. Peterhead have now scored in all of their last ten games with a total of 57 goals.

PREMIERSHIP
We still have the top six teams here this weekend with MANCHESTER CITY still very much on top but they drew 0-0 away to CRYSTAL PALACE. After a goal run of twelve games, City picked up their second blank of the season. Palace picked up their twelfth. CHELSEA have moved into second place after they won 5-0 home to Stoke. Chelsea are now on a total of 48 goals. MANCHESTER UNITED have moved down to third place as they drew 0-0 at home to Southampton.  United have picked up their third blank of the season. In fourth place we still have LIVERPOOL who won 2-1 at home to LEICESTER CITY.  Liverpool are now on 48 goals to Leicester’s 41. ARSENAL are now in fifth place as they drew 1-1 away to WEST BROM to pick up their 42nd goal while West Brom hit goal number 19. Tottenham have moved down to sixth place. BOURNEMOUTH are on 27 goals as they win 2-1 at home to EVERTON who are now on 29 goals.NEWCASTLE picked up their second consecutive blank and now ten over the season as they drew 0-0 at home to Brighton.

CHAMPIONSHIP
We still have WOLVES on top as they win 2-1 away to Bristol City. Wolves are now on a total of 51 goals. As Cardiff drop down to fourth place,  LEEDS UNITED are still in fifth place after they lost 1-0 away to BIRMINGHAM. As Leeds picked up their sixth blank of the season,. Birmingham are now on 19 goals. SHEFFIELD UNITED are in sixth place but lost 1-0 at home to BOLTON. United picked up their sixth blank of the season while Bolton are now on 29 goals. READING are on 35 goals as they drew 1-1 away to Barnsley while BRENTFORD are on 47 as they win 2-0 at home to Sheffield Wednesday. BURTON ALBION drew 0-0 at home to NORWICH to pick up their twelfth blank of the season while Norwich have had seven. FULHAM drew 2-2 away to HULL to take their goals tally to 37 while Hull take their’s to 39.

MK DONS are on 37 as they win 1-0 at home to PETERBOROUGH who picked up their fifth blank of the season. PORTSMOUTH won 3-1 at home to Northampton and they are now on 33 goals. SOUTHEND lost 2-1 at home to Shrewsbury but they are now on a total of 30 goals.

PORT VALE picked up their biggest win against leaders LUTON as they win 4-0 at home. Vale are now on 35 goals while Luton picked up their eighth blank of the season. COVENTRY won 1-0 away to Carlsile and that is their 33rd goal of the season. COLCHESTER picked up their seventh blank of the season as they drew 0-0 away to Chesterfield. EXETER won 2-1 at home to Barnet and they are now on a total of 43 goals. LINCOLN CITY won 2-1 at home to FOREST GREEN to give them a total of 34 goals to Greens 29. MANSFIELD are on 41 goals as they win 2-1 away to Wycombe.

SCOTTISH RESULTS
In the Scottish Premiership, CELTIC picked up their second blank of the season as they drew 0-0 at home to rivals RANGERS. Rangers have now had a total of five blank score sheets and remain in third place. Second place ABERDEEN drew 0-0 at home to Hearts to pick up their seventh blank score sheet.
In the Championship FALKIRK won 3-2 at home to Queen of South and that now gives them a total of 26 goals. In League One RAITH ROVERS won 3-0 at home to Stranraer and they are now on 46 goals.
