Day Five

In Day five we start with the first Group G games with GERMANY playing against PORTUGAL. Since the reform of Germany, they have been with us in the last six World Cup finals and this year  they have a total of twenty-four votes. Germany have ended with  very high goals totals over the years with their highest score of 16 goals coming from the last World Cup finals. Portugal have eight  votes this time round as they play in their fourth consecutive Golden Goals World Cup. Their best is a total of 7 goals scored in the last two World Cups.
Germany played very well in this game and won 4-0 and they should of done as Portugal had a player sent off in the first half. Portugal have picked up our very first blank score sheet for 2014.
In the other game USA played Ghana and won 2-1. Would have to give Howard the USA goalkeeper the man of the match as he stopped all but one of the Ghana’s strikes at goal. USA have only one vote this time round but they are now playing in their fourth Golden Goals World Cup. Best that they have done is 7 goals back in the 2002 World Cup. So Germany are top with USA in second place followed by Ghana and Portugal.
In Group F the second game from that group was between Iran and NIGERIA. Nigeria are playing in their fifth Golden Goals World Cup and they have just two votes. They drew 0-0 in their first game and become our second blank score sheet to date. Nigeria’s best goals total is 7 goals back in our 1994 World Cup finals.
Argentina are top with three points followed by Iran and Nigeria both with one point each. Bosnia are bottome of this group.
So At the end of the fifth day games, fifteen nations have now all scored goals giving us a total of 34 goals to date which is a Golden Goals record. We have two teams that have failed to score and they are Nigeria and Portugal. Still a long way to go as we still have BELGIUM and RUSSIA to play tonight in Group H. The first News Sheet should be out very soon.
