Lucky Holland

It’s another day at the Brazilian World Cup 2014 and no shocks here today although there nearly was for one of our nations.

HOLLAND was next up against MEXICO in which we knew that this was going to be a good game. HOLLAND had won all of their games from Group B beating, Spain, Australia and Chile and they then had the highest amount of goals from the first round with 10. MEXICO are runners up from Group A and they won two of their games and drew 0-0 against Brazil.
This was a very fast game again and in the first half it was all Holland, but it all changed in the second half as Mexico came out and scored in the 48th minute. Holland seemed to be playing against a brick wall as some great shots were saved by the Mexican goal keeper. With just three minutes to go in normal time I did think that the Dutch were out and Mexico would make history by going into the quarter finals. But in the 88th minute, Holland’s Sneijder equalised and it all started to go wrong for Mexico. In injury time 90+4 minutes Holland received a penalty and scored by Huntelaar. Holland go through to the quarter-finals with 12 goals to date. Mexico go home with 5 goals.
In the other game from the Second Round Costa Rica winner of Group D beat Greece runners up from Group C in another spectacular way. The game was 0-0 at half time but Costa Rica came on top in the second half to go one goal up. It was not till the last minute, that Greece equalised 1-1 and into extra time. With both teams having played with all that they had, it still remained 1-1 after extra time and so for the second time in the Second Round, penalties had to be taken. Costa Rica was up first and scored. With three penalties each the result was 3-3. Into the fourth penalty and Costa Rica score but Greece failed. With the fifth and final penalty for Costa Rica they scored and won 5-3 on penalties to go through to the next stage.
So the second Quarter-final game is confirmed as HOLLAND against Costa Rica to be played on 5th July.
Our goals total now stands at 99 goals for the tournament.
Best four teams to date are HOLLAND (12) COLOMBIA (11) FRANCE (8) GERMANY (7) Total of 38 goals.
The Second round games to play
FRANCE v NIGERIA, GERMANY v Algeria to be played on 30th June
ARGENTINA v Switzerland, BELGIUM v USA will be played on 1st July
