New Year's Day Results

First a very Happy New Year to you all and what a bag of mixed results we had here at Golden Goals. In the English Premiership, ARSENAL won 4-1 at home to FULHAM and they are now on 51 goals to Fulham’s 24. TOTTENHAM won 3-0 away to Cardiff and they are now on 53 goals. LEICESTER CITY won 1-0 away to EVERTON and this is their 30th goal of the season while Everton picked up their fifth blank score sheet and now two in a row.

In the Championship, ASTON VILLA drew 2-2 at home against Queens Park Rangers and they are now on 50 goals and have extended their goal run to eleven games. BLACKBURN won 2-1 at home to WEST BROM and they are on 44 goals while West Brom hit goal number 57. BRENTFORD are now on 42 goals as they drew 1-1 at home to Norwich. DERBY drew 1-1 at home to Middlesbrough and they are now on a total of 48 goals. One of the biggest score on New Year’s Day went to HULL with their biggest score of the season with a 6-0 thrashing to Bolton. Hull have now taken their goals tally up to 37. After a two game dry spell for goals, IPSWICH are now on 22 goals as they lost 3-2 at home to Millwall. NOTTINGHAM FOREST won 4-2 at home against LEEDS UNITED. Forest are now on 48 goals to Leeds 46. SWANSEA have started off 2019 with their biggest result of the season by winning 4-1 away to reading and they are now on 35 goals. ROTHERHAM after a three game dry spell are now on 28 goals as they win 2-1 at home to Preston. BIRMINGHAM drew 1-1 away to Sheffield Wednesday and that was goal number 38 for them. STOKE picked up their third consecutive blank score sheet as they lost 2-0 at home against Bristol City.

In League One, SUNDERLAND won 1-0 away to Blackpool and they are now on 48 goals while ACCRINGTON STANLEY lost 3-0 away to Bradford to pick up their seventh blank score sheet and now two in a row. BRISTOL ROVERS drew 0-0 at home to BURTON ALBION and that was Rovers eleventh blank score sheet to Burtons six. CHARLTON won 2-1 at home to Walsall and they are now on 48 goals. ROCHDALE lost 5-0 away to Doncaster and that is their seventh blank and now two in a row. LUTON drew 0-0 at home against BARNSLEY and that is their fifth blank after a goal run of ten games while Barnsley also picked up their fifth blank. PETERBOROUGH have now had six blank score sheets after they lost 2-0 at home to SCUNTHORPE who are now on 35 goals. PLYMOUTH won 3-0 at home to Oxford Utd and they have taken their goals tally up to 36. PORTSMOUTH won 2-0 at home to AFC Wimbledon and they are now on 52 goals. SHREWSBURY drew 0-0 at home to Fleetwood and that is their eight blank score sheet after a goal run of twelve games. SOUTHEND won 2-0 at home to Gillingham and that now puts them on a total of 43 goals. It’s 30 goals for COVENTRY as they win 2-0 away to WYCOMBE who picked up their seventh blank score sheet and now two in a row.

In League Two, MANSFIELD won 1-0 away to Grimsby and they are now on 43 goals. LINCOLN CITY drew 1-1 at home to Port Vale and that is goal number 55 for them. MK DONS picked up the other biggest score and for them as they win 6-0 at home against Cambridge Utd. The Dons have taken their goals tally up to 45. OLDHAM won 2-0 at home to NOTTS COUNTY and they are now on 44 goals while County picked up their eleventh blank score sheet and now two in a row. EXETER won 2-0 away to SWINDON and they are now on 41 goals while Swindon picked up their twelfth blank score sheet and now two in a row.
