Week Twenty-Five

In Week Twenty-Five of the competition we had three players that shared the jackpot of £6 this weekend all picking up a total of 11 goals. Two of them are first time winners this season which now brings our winners total up to twenty-seven.
One player to pick up their second win of the season and it goes to SEAN GOUGH. With his highest score of the season, Sean last won in Week Twenty and he had to share the winnings on that one too. He has picked up a total of 27 goals in the last two weeks. He still has had just one blank score sheet at the weekend and this is his highest position to date.
Our other winners are NYE COOPER and KIRSTY SHAW. Nye is in his very first season with Golden Goals and I would like to thank him for join us. Nye has picked up four blank score sheets at the weekend and 48th place is the highest that he has been in Week Two. This is his second weekend for picking up eleven goals from his teams. Kirsty is in her second season with us. Last season Kirsty finished in 64th place out of 149 with a final score of 275 goals. She has picked up three blank score sheets at the weekend and the highest that Kirsty has been is in 33rd place in Week Two. This is also her second weekend for picking up eleven goals at the weekend. Here are his teams once again

100 MIDWEEK GOALS JACKPOT
Most of us managed to pick up some goals in midweek this week. There were ten players that picked the highest score with five goals each and that was thanks to the Manchester City, Derby or Stoke as part of your combination.
So the race for the cash has completely changed this week. Last week we had fifty-two players with 50 or more midweek goals. This week it has moved to sixty-five.
JUNE TIGHE is our new leader this week as she was one of the ten players that picked up five goals. June has Derby, Manchester City and Tottenham. She now has a total of 77 goals. In second place and two goals behind June, we have last weeks long time leader GRAHAM HARRIS with a total of 75 goals. In third place with a total of 68 goals we still have KAREN SMITH. In joint fourth place all on 67 goals we still have ANN WELLARD but she is now joined with TOBY BICKNELL, PHIL COLLINS, MICHAEL FISHER, DANNY HARRINGTON and JAMIE WOOD all moving up from fifth place.

WEEKEND RESULTS
We had a much better weekend for goals this week as the average score shot up from just one goal from last weekend up to a proud 7 goals. We have all picked up some goals this week. We only had five teams without a game over the weekend and we then had another thirteen teams that failed to score any goals. We did not have any really high scores this weekend but we did have a total of seven teams that picked up four goals each.

PREMIERSHIP
We still have the top six teams here with LIVERPOOL remaining top after they won 4-3 at home to Crystal Palace. Liverpool’s goals takes them up to a total of 56 goals and they have now scored in all of their last sixteen games. In second place and now only four points behind them is MANCHESTER CITY. They won 3-0 away to Huddersfield and that now gives them a total of 84 goals. In third place we still have TOTTENHAM who won 2-1 away to FULHAM after going a goal down in the first half. Tottenham are now on a total of 63 goals while Fulham picked up goal number 37. CHELSEA are still in fourth place after they lost 2-0 away to London rivals ARSENAL who are in fifth place. As Chelsea picked up their sixth blank of the season, Arsenal take their goals tally up to 56. MANCHESTER UNITED are in sixth place as they win 2-1 at home to Brighton and they are now on a total of 50 goals and they have now scored in all of their last eleven games. BOURNEMOUTH won 2-0 at home to WEST HAM and they are now on a total of 42 goals while West Ham picked up their ninth blank of the season. EVERTON lost 2-1 away to Southampton and that is their 40th goal scored. WOLVES picked up their biggest score of the season by beating LEICESTER CITY 4-3 at home. Wolves are now on 31 goals while Leicester are on 35.

CHAMPIONSHIP
LEEDS UNITED are still top here after they lost 2-1 away to STOKE. Leeds are now just one point in front of second place Norwich as they picked up their 50th goal of the season. Stoke are now on 40 goals. West Brom come next in fourth place as they had now game over the weekend. DERBY are in sixth place as they win 2-1 at home against Reading and they are now on 54 goals. After a two game dry spell for goals, ASTON VILLA are now on 52 goals as they drew 2-2 at home to HULL. Hull are now on 43 goals and they have now scored in all of their last ten games. BLACKBURN are on 51 goals as they win 2-0 at home to bottom of the table IPSWICH, who picked up their fourteenth blank of the season. NOTTINGHAM FOREST lost 1-0 at home to Bristol City and that is their ninth blank score sheet and now three in a row. It’s 50 for BRENTFORD after they won 4-2 away to ROTHERHAM who are now on 30 goals after a two game dry spell. It’s 40 for SWANSEA as they win 1-0 at home to Sheffield United.

LEAGUE ONE
We are still have the top six here with PORTSMOUTH still top even though they lost again 2-1 away to Oxford Utd. That is their 54th goal of the season. LUTON are still in second place after they won 4-0 at home against PETERBOROUGH in sixth place. Luton have taken their goals tally up to 57 while Borough picked up their eighth blank of the season.  SUNDERLAND still in third place drew 1-1 away to SCUNTHORPE to pick up their 51st goal while Scunthorpe hit goal number 40. In fourth place is CHARLTON who won 1-0  at home to ACCRINGTON STANLEY. Charlton are now on 53 goals with a goal run of ten games, while Accrington picked up their ninth blank score sheet and now two in a row. BARNSLEY are in fifth place after they won 4-1 away to AFC Wimbledon and they are now on a total of 56 goals. SHREWSBURY drew 0-0 away to Blackpool and picked up their tenth blank score sheet. SOUTHEND won 4-0 away to Bradford and they are now on 49 goals. WYCOMBE are on 44 goals as they win 1-0 away to BRISTOL ROVERS who picked up their thirteenth blank score sheet and now three games without a goal. BURTON drew 2-2 away to Doncaster and they are now on a total of 48 goals. PLYMOUTH won 2-1 at home to COVENTRY and they are now on 41 goals to Coventry’s 33. It’s 40 for ROCHDALE as they drew 1-1 at home to Fleetwood.

LEAGUE TWO
LINCOLN CITY are still on top after they won 1-0 at home to Grimsby and that is their 59th goal of the season and they have scored in all of their last fourteen games. MANSFIELD have moved up to third place after they won 3-2 away to Colchester. Mansfield are now on 49 goals. MK DONS are down to fifth place now after they lost 1-0 at home to Crewe. That is their fourth blank of the season. OLDHAM lost 2-1 away to Macclesfield and they are now on a total of 47 goals. EXETER picked up their ninth blank score sheet after they lost 1-0 away to Newport and now that’s two games without a goal. NOTTS COUNTY lost 2-0 away to Yeovil to remain bottom of the table and that is their thirteenth blank of the season and now two in a row. They have scored just four goals in their last seven games. SWINDON won 2-1 away to Tranmere and they are on 35 goals.

SCOTTISH LEAGUES
The Scottish WILLIAM HILL CUP Fourth Round, we had ten of our Scottish teams in action and out of them five have made it through to the next round. CELTIC will be there after they won 3-0 at home to Airdrie and they are now on a total of 57 goals. HIBERNIAN will be joining them as they win 4-0 at home to Elgin City and they are now on a total of 37 goals. ROSS COUNTY won 2-1 away to Motherwell and they are now on 45 goals. RAITH ROVERS won 3-0 at home against Dunfermline and they are on a total of 56 goals and they have now scored in all of their last twenty-three games. HEARTS won 1-0 against Livingston and they are now on 45 goals.
Teams that are also out are AYR UNITED lost 1-0 away to non-league Auchinleck Talbot and that is their eighth blank score sheet and now three in a row. HAMILTON lost 2-0 away to St Johnstone and that is their fourteenth blank score sheet and now just two goals in their last seven games. ALLOA are also out after they lost 3-2 away to St Mirren and they are now on a total of 36 goals.
We had just one replay to have and that is from ABERDEEN who drew 1-1 at home to STENHOUSEMUIR. Aberdeen are now on 40 goals to Stenhousemuir’s 30.
We had just one league game from League Two, where PETERHEAD are now top as they win 2-0 at home to Berwick to take them up a total of 48 goals.

Our Best teams this week are RAITH ROVERS after they have scored in all of their last twenty-three League and Cup games out of twenty-seven played. They have a total of 56 goals which still gives them a average score of 2 goals per game.

Our worst team this week is IPSWICH as they have picked up a total of fourteen blank score sheets out of thirty league and cup games played this season. They have now scored just five goals in their last ten games.

Our biggest result in our 36th Season is now MANCHESTER CITY as they win 9-0 at home against league one BURTON ALBION in the Carabao/League Cup semi-final first leg tie in Week Twenty-Four.

MICHAEL FISHER becomes our sixth player to reach the number one spot this season although it be on goal difference only.  Michael picked up a total of twelve goals this week with nine of them coming from the weekend. His combination is Luton, Manchester City and Tottenham.  Jamie Wood moves down to second place after he collected a total of eleven goals for the week. Jamie has the combination of Celtic, Manchester City and Tottenham.
At the other end at 133 we have John Filtness at the bottom for his sixteenth consecutive weekend as he picks up a total of five goals for the week. He has now had nineteen weeks at the bottom and he is now five goals adrift this weekend. His teams are  Birmingham, Hamilton and Liverpool.
