Swindon to Remain in League Two

League Two Play-Off SWINDON won the first leg against Port Vale 2-1 but they had to go into extra time after Port Vale won the second leg 1-0 after 90 minutes to go 2-2 on aggregate. Both teams failed to score in extra time and in the penalty shoot-out Swindon lost 6-5. After a goal run of seven games, Swindon have now had a total of nine blank score sheets this season. The final will be played on 28 May between Mansfield and Port Vale. 

In the Premier League CRYSTAL PALACE went 2-0 up at half time but then lost 3-2 away to Everton. Palace have taken their goals total to 59 goals.  CHELSEA drew 1-1 at home to LEICESTER CITY to pick up their 95th goal of the season. Leicester hit goal number 71. ASTON VILLA are on a total of 57 goals as they drew 1-1 at home to Burnley.

Liverpool One Point Behind City

In the Premier League, LIVERPOOL have caught up with Manchester City as they win 2-1 away to Southampton. Liverpool are now on a total of 114 goals. It’s all down to the very last game of the season to find out who will be this season’s champions.   

In the Championship play-off second leg game, NOTTINGHAM FOREST went 2-1 up against SHEFFIELD UNITED from the first leg but it was Sheffield Utd that won the second leg 2-1 away. This meant that the teams drew 3-3 on aggregate and even after extra time there was no shift in the score line. So it went to penalties where Forest won 3-2. Forest are now on a total of 85 goals while Sheffield finished on a total of 69 goals and they had scored in all of their last seven games.

So Forest will play Huddersfield in the finals after Huddersfield won their tie 2-1 on aggregate against Luton. The final is to be played on 29 May.

Arsenal Drop More Points

In the Premier League ARSENAL needed a win to go above Tottenham in fourth place last night but they lost 2-0 away to Newcastle. Arsenal remained in fifth place as they picked up their fourteenth blank of the season and now two in a row.

Stockport County Back in League Two

Stockport County ended an 11-year absence from the Football League by winning the National League title with 2-0 home victory over FC Halifax Town. Wrexham in second place and Solihull Moors in third, get a bye to the semi-finals. Those one-leg ties will be played on 28 and 29 May, with the final at London Stadium on 5 June.

 

 

Week Forty-One

In Week Forty-One of the competition it was STALKY (Bob Burgin) that picked up the highest score with a total of 10 goals. His teams are LEICESTER CITY 5, RANGERS 3 and WEST HAM 2. 

All but two players (which have all of their teams finished for the season) picked up some more goals this week as the season comes down to the final games.

100 MIDWEEK GOALS JACKPOT 

The race is now on to see how many of us can get to that 100 or more midweek goals and to beat the best midweek score of 136 goals which is currently held by Daryl Nicholls from the 2016/17 Season. We now have a total of thirteen players that have joined the 100 goals club this week. It was MARK JOHNSTON and JULIA WOOD that picked up the most amount of midweek goals with a total of 10 goals each.  

So we have LYANNA GRIMWOOD still leading the way as she now takes her total up to 131 goals. Her teams are Fulham. Manchester City and Sunderland. In second place we now have PETER WELLARD with a total of 112 goals. In third place we now have JAMIE WOOD with a total of 111 goals. In fourth place this week we now have KEAMUS SETNA and BOB SOPER and both with a total of 110 goals. In fifth place with 108 goals we now have LOUIE HARRINGTON and MANGO (Paul Moran). In sixth place this week we have SAMUEL STEPHENS and COLIN WEBB both on 107 goals. 

WEEKEND RESULTS 

The highest score we had was six goals and they came from CELTIC after they won 6-0 at home to Motherwell. With their last game of the season, Celtic have finished on a total of 111 goals and they had scored in all of their last twelve games. 

FA CUP FINAL 

We ended up with both of the teams in the 141st FA Cup final and they were CHELSEA and LIVERPOOL. After an entertaining first 90 minutes of football it finished 0-0. In extra time the two teams could still not be split and again it finished 0-0. Liverpool then went on to win 6-5 on penalties. Chelsea picked up their sixth blank of the season while Liverpool after a goal run of thirteen games, picked up their fourth blank of the season. 

PREMIER LEAGUE 

MANCHESTER CITY are are now four points in front of Liverpool in second place this weekend as they drew 2-2 away to WEST HAM. City are now on a total of 118 goals and they have scored in all of their last ten games. West Ham are on a total of 66 goals. Chelsea are still in third place with TOTTENHAM now in fourth place as they win 1-0 at home to Burnley. Tottenham picked up goal number 75. Arsenal are down to fifth place as they had now game at the weekend. ASTON VILLA drew 1-1 at home to CRYSTAL PALACE and they are on a total of 56 goals while Palace are on 57 goals. BRIGHTON are on a total of 48 goals after they drew 1-1 away to Leeds Utd. WATFORD lost 5-1 at home to LEICESTER CITY to pick up goal number 36 after they had failed to score in their previous two games. Leicester have taken their goals tally up to 70 with their biggest result of the season. WOLVES drew 1-1 at home to bottom of the table Norwich and they are on a total of 46 goals. BRENTFORD won 3-2 away to Everton and they have taken their goals total to 64. 

CHAMPIONSHIP 

In the Play-offs we have just two of the four teams. They are NOTTINGHAM FOREST who won 2-1 away to SHEFFIELD UNITED in their first leg game. Forest are on a total of 84 goals while Sheffield United picked up their 67th goal and have now scored in all of their last six games. 

LEAGUE TWO 

In the Play-Offs we have just one out of the four teams and they are SWINDON. They won their first leg game 2-1 at home to Port Vale. Swindon are on a total of 85 goals and have now scored in all of their last seven games.

SCOTTISH LEAGUES

In the very last game of the Premiership, Champions Celtic finished four points in front of rivals RANGERS in second place. Rangers won their last league game 3-1 away to HEARTS after going a goal down. Rangers are now on a total of 100 goals to become our fifth team to reach 100 goals this season and they have now scored in all of their last seventeen games. Hearts are on a total of 75 goals. ABERDEEN drew 0-0 at home to St Mirren and that is their eleventh blank of the season and no goals from their last two games of the season. 

Our on-form team this week are RANGERS as they have now scored in all of their last seventeen League/Cup games. 

Our worst team are PETERBOROUGH after they picked up a total of twenty-five blank score sheets out of a total of fifty league/cup games. 

Our highest goal scorers in our 39th Season are FULHAM who have scored seven goals three times this season. They first won 7-0 away to Blackburn Rovers in the league in Week Fourteen and they have also won 7-0 away to Reading in the league in Week Twenty-Four. They have now added a 7-0 home win against Luton in Week Forty. CELTIC who won 7-0 at home to St Johnston in the league in Week Thirty-Six. OXFORD UNITED won 7-2 away to Gillingham in the league in Week Twenty-Six. MANCHESTER CITY won 7-0 at home to Leeds Utd in the league in Week Twenty. CHELSEA won 7-0 at home to Norwich in the league in Week Twelve. BRENTFORD won 7-0 at home to Oldham in the third round of the Carabao/League Cup in Week Eight. 

JULIA WOOD is in her fourth consecutive weekend at the top after she picked up a total of 12 goals this week. Julia’s teams are Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester City. Julia has moved up the table again this weekend in our Champions League to 11th place as she has taken over another three past Champions including Tony Patman’s score of 322 goals in the 1999/00 Season. Peter Wellard is still in second place as he picked up a total of 10 goals from his teams of Chelsea, Fulham and Manchester City over the week.  

At the other end at 113 we still have ZIGGY (John Wood) this weekend which is now his 35th consecutive weekend at the bottom and now thirty-seven over the season. Ziggy picked up a just one goal again this week. Ziggy has remained at 37th place in our Losers League for the fifth weekend running. Ziggy teams are Crystal Palace, Scunthorpe and Stenhousemuir.

We have just one more New Sheet to give you in our 39th Season of Golden Goals. Looks very much likely that we will have our fifth lady Champion.

Tottenham Still Fifth After Win

In the Premier League TOTTENHAM beat London rivals ARSENAL 3-0 at home to give them a total of 74 goals. Arsenal have now had a total of thirteen blank score sheets.

Goals Galore

In the Premier League top of the table MANCHESTER CITY won 5-1 away to WOLVES to take their goals tally up to 116. They have now scored a total of 19 goals in their last four games and have scored in all of their last nine games. Wolves picked up goal number 45. CHELSEA won 3-0 away to Leeds Utd and are now on a total of 94 goals. LEICESTER CITY won 3-0 at home against relegated Norwich and they have taken their goals total up to 65. Relegated WATFORD drew 0-0 at home to Everton to pick up their eighteenth blank of the season and now two in a row.

In the Scottish Premiership Champions CELTIC drew 1-1 away to Dundee Utd and they are on a total of 105 goals. RANGERS won 4-1 at home against Ross County and they have taken their goals total to 97. HEARTS lost 2-1 away to Motherwell and that is goal number 74 for them. ABERDEEN lost 1-0 away to St Johnstone and that is their tenth blank of the season.

Liverpool Keep the Pressure on City

In the Premier League LIVERPOOL won 2-1 away to ASTON VILLA and took their goals total up to 112. Liverpool have extended their goal run to thirteen games. Villa hit goal number 55.

Sunderland in Play-Off Final

In the League One Play-Offs, SUNDERLAND won their first leg game against SHEFFIELD WEDNESDAY but then drew their second leg game 1-1 with a very late goal in injury time. Sunderland are through to the final winning 2-1 on aggregate. Sunderland are now on a total of 89 goals while Wednesday finish the season on a total of 81 goals. Sunderland will play Wycombe on 21 May.

Week Forty

In Week Forty of the competition we did not have any more weekend cash prize money to offer our winner. But it was PHILIP REEVE our two time Champion that picked up the highest score with a total of 11 goals. Phil first became Champion in the 1987/88 Season with a total of 302 goals and then again in the 2012/13 Season with a total of 308 goals. Phil's teams are CHELSEA 2, MANCHESTER CITY 5 and WEST BROM 4.

WEEKEND RESULTS

With our League One now finished except for the Play-Offs, we have a couple of players with just one team left in play but most of us still have two or even three still in action. Despite this we had a very good weekend for goals as our average score over the weekend went up from four goals from last weekend back to 5 goals this weekend. The highest score we had was five goals and we had two of our teams that picked them up. they were MANCHESTER CITY and PETERBOROUGH. 

PREMIER LEAGUE

MANCHESTER CITY are are now three points in front of Liverpool in second place this weekend as Manchester City won 5-0 at home to Newcastle. City are now on a total of 111 goals and they have scored in all of their last eight games. LIVERPOOL drew 1-1 at home to TOTTENHAM in fifth place. Liverpool are on a total of 110 goals and they have now scored in all of their last twelve games. Tottenham picked up goal number 71. CHELSEA are still in third place after they drew 2-2 at home to WOLVES. Chelsea are on a total of 91 goals while Wolves after a three games dry spell for goals are now on a total of 44 goals. ARSENAL are still in fourth place after they won 2-1 at home against Leeds. Arsenal are on a total of 72 goals. BRENTFORD after they failed to score in their last two games are now on a total of 61 goals after they won 3-0 at home to Southampton. With their biggest result of the season, BRIGHTON thrashed MANCHESTER UNITED 4-0 at home and they have taken their goals total up to 47. United's season has melted away as they pick up their ninth blank of the season. ASTON VILLA won 3-1 away to Burnley and they are now on a total of 54 goals. CRYSTAL PALACE won 1-0 at home to WATFORD and they are on a total of 56 goals. Watford picked up their seventeenth blank of the season and are relegated to the Championship. LEICESTER CITY lost 2-1 at home to EVERTON and they are on a total of 62 goals. WEST HAM are on a total of 64 goals after they won 4-0 away to Norwich. 

CHAMPIONSHIP

Champions FULHAM have had a fantastic season even though they lost their last game 4-0 away to SHEFFIELD UNITED. As Fulham picked up their seventh blank of the season, Sheffield take their goals total up to 66 goals. BOURNEMOUTH finished in second place after they won 1-0 at home to Millwall. Bournemouth finished on a total of 82 goals.

In the Play-offs we still have just two of the four teams. They are NOTTINGHAM FOREST now in fourth place after they drew 1-1 away to HULL. Forest are on a total of 82 goals while Hull finished on a total of 44 goals.  Sheffield United finished in fifth place after their win against Fulham.  

Meanwhile  we have all three teams that have been relegated from the Championship and they are BARNSLEY who lost 4-0 away to WEST BROM and picked up their twenty-second blank of the season. West Brom finished the season with 53 goals. DERBY also lost their last game 1-0 at home to CARDIFF CITY. Derby picked up a total of fifteen blanks over the season. Cardiff finished on a total of 56 goals. PETERBOROUGH won their ninth league game 5-0 at home against Blackpool. With their biggest result of the season, Borough finished on a total of 47 goals. Staying in the league are READING who lost their last game 1-0 away to Luton. Reading had a total of seventeen blank score sheets and failed to score in their last three games. PRESTON won 4-1 at home to Middlesbrough and they finished on a total of 64 goals. SWANSEA lost their last game 1-0 at home to QPR. Swansea picked up their fifteenth blank of the season. 

LEAGUE ONE Play-Offs

In the Play-Offs we have three teams who are Sheffield Wednesday, Sunderland and Wycombe.

WYCOMBE won their first leg game 2-0 against MK Dons but in the second leg they lost 1-0. The good news is that Wycombe won 2-1 on aggregate and are in the final after they picked up their twelfth blank of the season. 

LEAGUE TWO

Congratulations to EXETER CITY in being promoted to league one after they lost their last game 1-0 at home to Port Vale. Exeter have had a total of twelve blank score sheets.

In the Play-Offs we have just one out of the four teams and they are SWINDON in sixth place. They won 3-0 away to Walsall and they are on a total of 83 goals and have now scored in all of their last six games.

Meanwhile relegated SCUNTHORPE UNITED lost 7-0 away to Bristol Rovers and that is their last league game with a total of twenty-four blank score sheets. CARLISLE lost 2-0 away to Bradford and that is their twenty-first blank of the season. SUTTON UNITED won their last game 2-0 away to Harrogate and they finished on a total of 73 goals. STEVENAGE won their last game 4-2 at home to SALFORD CITY. With their highest result of the season, Stevenage finished on a total of 53 goals while Salford finished on 66 goals.

In the Championship its congratulations to BOURNEMOUTH who are promoted to the Premier League after they won 1-0 at home against NOTTINGHAM FOREST. Bournemouth are on a total of 81 goals while Forest are still in the play-offs, picked up their twelfth blank of the season.

Fulham Winning in Style

In the Premier League MANCHESTER UNITED won 3-0 at home to BRENTFORD to take their goals tally up to 59 goals. Brentford picked up their thirteenth blank score sheet and now two in a row. 

In the Championship, FULHAM certainly finishing in style as they won 7-0 at home to Luton. Fulham are now on a total of 110 goals which set them a new record with Golden Goals. 

In League Two SALFORD CITY are on a total of 64 goals as they drew 2-2 at home to Mansfield.

Week Thirty-Nine

In Week Thirty-Nine of the competition we had our very last Weekend Jackpot of £5 and that went to GRAHAM HARRIS with his second win of the season. Graham won on a score of 10 goals once again. Graham last won back in Week Thirty-Five with a shared Rollover winning again with 10 goals. Although he has moved back up to 48th place this weekend, 30th is still his best position in Week One. Manchester City is still his best team and he has still had five blank score sheets to date. His winning teams are

WEEKEND RESULTS

We had all but six of our teams in action this weekend and out of the ones that did play, nine failed to score any goals. We had a fairly good weekend in our last full fixture for goals as our average score over the weekend went down from six goals from last weekend back to 4 goals this weekend. The highest score we had was five goals and they came from NOTTINGHAM FOREST. They won 5-1 at home against SWANSEA CITY. Forest with their biggest result of the season, are now on a total of 81 goals. Swansea hit goal number 67.  

Forest became our 12th voted team in our very first season and they finished on a total of 78 goals. In the 1988/89 Season they finished on their highest score of 100 goals. In the Covid Season last year, they finished on a total of  just 39 goals which is their lowest ever score. This is their 28th appearance with Golden Goals and over the years they have scored a total of 1983 goals which gives them an average score of 70 goals per season. They have just one vote this season and they have picked up a total of eleven blank score sheets to date.

CRYSTAL PALACE had failed to score in their last three games but won this one 2-1 away to Southampton. Palace are on a total of 55 goals. WATFORD lost 2-1 at home to Burnley and are stuck in the relegation zone. Watford are on a total of 35 goals. WOLVES lost 3-0 at home to BRIGHTON to pick up their seventeenth blank of the season and now three in a row. Brighton are now on a total of 43 goals. After a two game dry spell, its 70 goals for TOTTENHAM as they win 3-1 at home to LEICESTER CITY who picked up their 61st goal. 

CHAMPIONSHIP

Fulham are Champions with BOURNEMOUTH still in second place after they won 3-0 away to Blackburn. Bournemouth are now  a total of 80 goals.

In the Play-offs we still have just two of the four teams. They are Nottingham Forest now in third place after their big win and Sheffield United are still in sixth place after their win in midweek.  

Meanwhile  we have all three teams to be relegated from the Championship and they are BARNSLEY who lost 3-1 at home to PRESTON and are on a total of 38 goals while Preston take their tally to 60. DERBY won 2-0 away to Blackpool and they are on a total of 49 goals. PETERBOROUGH are also down as they lost 3-0 away to Millwall. That is now Brough’s twenty-fifth blank of the season and now two in a row. HULL lost 5-0 away to Bristol City and that is their twenty-first blank of the season. After a dry spell of three games, CARDIFF picked up goal number 55 as they drew 1-1 at home to Birmingham. READING lost 1-0 at home to WEST BROM and that is their sixteenth blank and now two in a row while West Brom picked up goal number 49 after a two game dry spell. 

LEAGUE ONE

It’s all over here except for the play-offs and we have done well here. WIGAN are crowned Champions after they won 3-0 away to Shrewsbury.  Wigan finished on a total of 90 goals. ROTHERHAM join them in second place after they won 2-0 away to Colchester. Rotherham finished on a total of 76 goals.

In the all important Play-Offs we have three teams with SHEFFIELD WEDNESDAY  moving up to fourth place after they won 4-1 at home to PORTSMOUTH. Wednesday are now on a total of 80 goals. Portsmouth finished on a total of 71 goals. SUNDERLAND are down to fifth place after they won1-0 away to Morecambe. Sunderland are on a total of 87 goals. WYCOMBE are still in sixth place after they won 2-1 away to BURTON. Wycombe are on 80 goals and a goal run of seven games. Burton Albion finished on a total of 55 goals.

Meanwhile BOLTON finish their season with a 4-2 win over Fleetwood and finished on a total of 79 goals. IPSWICH win 4-0 at home against CHARLTON and end the season on a total of 70 goals. Charlton picked up their twelfth blank of the season. LINCOLN CITY won 2-1 at home to Crewe and they finished on a total of 58 goals and a goal run of seven games. OXFORD UNITED drew1-1 against Doncaster and finished on a total of 88 goals. PLYMOUTH lost 5-0 at home to MK Dons and that is their eleventh blank of the season with just one goal in their last five games. 

LEAGUE TWO

They are still in action with EXETER CITY at the top being promoted after they drew 1-1 away to Northampton. Exeter are on a total of 69 goals.

In the Play-Offs we have just one out of the four teams and they are now SWINDON in seventh place. They won 2-1 at home to Barrow and they are on a total of 80 goals.

Meanwhile relegated SCUNTHORPE UNITED drew 1-1 at home to Hartlepool and they are on a total of 29 goals. CARLISLE won 2-1 at home to STEVENAGE and they are on a total of 42 goals while Stevenage are on a total of 49 goals. SUTTON UNITED lost 4-1 at home to Bradford and they are  on a total of 71 goals.

SCOTTISH LEAGUES

In the Premiership, in the old firm clash CELTIC drew 1-1 at home against RANGERS. Celtic now become our fourth team this season to hit 100 goals. Celtic are now on a total of 100 goals and they have now scored in all of their last nine games. Second place Rangers are on a total of 91 goals and they have now scored in all of their last fourteen games. Third place HEARTS drew 0-0 at home to Ross County and they have now had a total of eight blank score sheets after a goal run of ten games. ABERDEEN won 1-0 at home to Dundee and they are on a total of 45 goals.

In League Two Champions KELTY HEARTS won 2-1 away to Anna and they have finished on a total of 82 goals and they have now scored in all of their last six games. STENHOUSEMUIR drew 0-0 away to Forfar and that is their eleventh blank of the season. 

Our on-form team this week are RANGERS as they have now scored in all of their last fourteen League/Cup games. 

Our worst team this week is PETERBOROUGH after they picked up a total of twenty-five blank score sheets out of a total of forty-nine league/cup games. 

Our highest goal scorers in our 39th Season are CELTIC who won 7-0 at home to St Johnston in the league in Week Thirty-Six. OXFORD UNITED won 7-2 away to Gillingham in the league in Week Twenty-Six. FULHAM have now scored seven goals twice this season. They first won 7-0 away to Blackburn Rovers in the league in Week Fourteen and they have also won 7-0 away to Reading in the league in Week Twenty-Four. MANCHESTER CITY won 7-0 at home to Leeds Utd in the league in Week Twenty. CHELSEA won 7-0 at home to Norwich in the league in Week Twelve. BRENTFORD won 7-0 at home to Oldham in the third round of the Carabao/League Cup in Week Eight.

JULIA WOOD is in her second weekend at the top after she picked up a total of 6 goals from the week. Julia’s teams are Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester City. Julia has moved up the table in our Champions League to 26th place as she has taken over Phil Reeve 1987/88 score of 302 goals and John Fleming score of 303 goals in the 1993/94 Season. Scott Thomson (2) has remained in second place as he also picked up a total of 6 goals from his teams of Liverpool, Manchester City and Oxford United.  

At the other end at 113 we still have ZIGGY (John Wood) this weekend which is now his 33rd consecutive weekend at the bottom and now thirty-five over the season. Ziggy picked up a total of three goals again this week. Ziggy has remained at 37th place in our Losers League for the third week running. Ziggy teams are Crystal Palace, Scunthorpe and Stenhousemuir.  

Here has not been many changes in the top ten this weekend and as teams start to finish their season, who will be our 39th Champion?
