Week Twelve

Here we are with Week Twelve of the competition, and we have had our 13th winner of the season to win the full £6 Weekend Prize Money. The cash went to DAVID BARRETT who won with his personal best weekend score of 10 goals. David started with Golden Goals back in the 2017/18 season on where he finished in the winning frame in 16th place. He picked up a total of 305 goals. Last season, David finished in 34th place with 258 goals. This season he has picked up a total of just one blank weekend score sheet. Nearly half of us picked up some midweek goals this week, so the top five have mostly remained the same as last week’s News Sheet. We had a total of 7 players that managed to pick up the most amount of goals with 5 each.

Still in the lead this week is, TIM WOOD now has a total of 48 goals. His teams are Manchester City, West Ham United and Wolves. In second place we now have MIKE HARRINGTON our 1997/98 Champion, now with a total of 47 goals. In third place, down from two, we have  ASHLEY LEGG and STALKY (1), and joining them we have MARK LIPMAN. All are now on a total of 46 goals. In fourth place, down from three, we have GUY DOWSETT (1) and MARK JOHNSTON, both on a total of 44 goals. In fifth place we now have ROBERT NETTING, down from four, still on a total of 43 goals.

WEEKEND RESULTS

We had 6 of our teams without a game this weekend and another 14 that failed to score any goals. The average score last weekend was 6 goals, this weekend we went down to 5 goals. So if you scored more than that with your teams, then you have done very well this week. The highest score over the weekend was 5 goals and they came from League Two were CHESTERFIELD won 5-1 at home against Crewe.

MANCHESTER CITY are still top on goal difference, after they lost their first league game 2-1 away to ASTON VILLA. City are now on a total of 25 goals and have now scored in all of their 9 league/cup games. Villa have won their third league game, are on a total of 12 goals and they have now scored in all of their last 6 league/cup games. In second place we still have ARSENAL on goal difference, after they won 2-0 at home against Everton. Arsenal are on a total of 17 goals. COVENTRY CITY lost 1-0 at home against Fulham and have picked up their 5th  blank of the season. TOTTENHAM have won their 2nd league game 2-0 away to London rivals CHELSEA. Tottenham are on a total of 14 goals and have now scored in all of their last 5 league/cup games. Chelsea have picked up their second blank of the season. CRYSTAL PALACE lost 2-0 at home against NEWCASTLE UNITED. Palace have picked up their fourth blank of the season while Newcastle are on a total of 16 goals. BRENTFORD drew 1-1 away to Hill and hit goal number 22. They have  now scored in all of their 10 league/cup games. LIVERPOOL have won their fourth league game, 2-0 at home to  BRIGHTON and are on a total of 14 goals. Brighton after they had scored in all of their last 8 games, picked up their first blank of the season. MANCHESTER UNITED have lost their third league game 3-0 at home to AFC BOURNEMOUTH who have won their second league game. United have picked up their third blank score sheet, while Bournemouth are now on a total of 6 goals.

CHAMPIONSHIP

With Middlesbrough at the top this weekend, WEST HAM UNITED have dropped down to third place after they lost 3-2 at home to SOUTHAMPTON. West Ham are on a total of 41 goals and have extended their goal run to 15 league/cup games. Southampton are on a total of 27 goals.  CHARLTON lost 3-1 at home to Norwich and picked up goal number 15. DERBY COUNTY drew 1-1 away to Sheffield United and are on a total of 11 goals. WREXHAM lost 2-0 away to Blackburn and picked up their fourth blank of the season. CARDIFF CITY won 1-0 at home to BIRMINGHAM CITY and hit goal number 23 and have now scored in all of their last 5 league/cup games. Birmingham, after a goal run of 11 league/cup games, picked up their second blank of the season. BURNLEY lost 4-1 away to Lincoln and are on a total of 18 goals. They have now scored in all of their last 10 league/cup games. BRISTOL CITY have picked up their 6th blank of the season and now 3 in a row after they drew 0-0 away to Stoke. WOLVES won 1-0 at home to Watford and are on a total of 25 goals. Bottom of the table PRESTON NE drew 1-1 at home against West Brom and are on a total of 11 goals. 

LEAGUE ONE

HUDDERSFIELD TOWN are top of the table after they won 2-1 at home against Wigan. Huddersfield are on a total of 25 goals and have now scored in all of their last 6 league/cup games. STOCKPORT COUNTY remain in 2nd place after they drew 1-1 away to Notts County. County are on a total of 25 goals and have now scored in all of their last 5 league/cup games. LUTON TOWN won 2-1 at home against LEICESTER CITY and are on a total of 24 goals. Leicester are on 19 goals and have now scored in all of their last 6 league/cup games. After they had failed to score in their last 2 league games, AFC WIMBLEDON drew 1-1 at home to Wycombe and picked up goal number 9. After they had failed to score in their last 2 league games, BROMLEY drew1-1 at home to Peterborough and are on a total of 11 goals. CAMBRIDGE UNITED lost 3-2 at home to Plymouth and are on a total of 22 goals and have now scored in all of their last 10 league/cup games. SHEFFIELD WEDNESDAY lost 2-0 away to Doncaster and they have picked up their 6th blank score sheet and now 2 in a row. Salford City are still top after they had no game over the weekend. BARNET are still in second place after they drew 1-1 at home to Oldham. Barnet are on a total of 25 goals and they have now scored in all of their 12 league/cup games. BRISTOL ROVERS drew 0-0 at home to Swindon and picked up their 5th  blank of the season. CHESTERFIELD have picked up their biggest result of the season after they won 5-1 at home against Crewe. Chesterfield are on a total of 23 goals. EXETER CITY won 2-1 at home to Fleetwood and are on a total of 10 goals. GILLINGHAM lost 4-1 at home to GRIMSBY TOWN and they are on a total of 18 goals. Grimsby are have taken their goals tally to 20 goals. YORK CITY won 2-0 at home to PORT VALE and are on a total of 21 goals and have now scored in all of their last 5 league/cup games. SCOTTISH RESULTS

In the Premiership, CELTIC remain on top after they won 2-1 away to HIBERNIAN. Celtic are on a total of  29 goals. Hubs are on a total of 14 goals. In 2nd place we still have  RANGERS who won 4-0 at home to St Johnstone and have taken their goals tally up to 25 goals. They have now scored in all of their 12 league/cup games. HEARTS won 2-0 away to Motherwell and they are on a total of 31 goals and they have now scored in all of their 12 league/cup games. ABERDEEN lost 3-2 away to Dundee Utd and are on a total of 26 goals.  

In the Championship, PARTICK THISTLE are now top after they won 3-0 at home to STENHOUSEMUIR who are now down to second place. Partick are on a total of 28 goals and have now scored in all of their last 5 league/cup games. Stenhousemuir have picked up their fourth blank of the season. LIVINGSTON won 1-0 at home against ARBROATH and are on a total of 26 goals. Arbroath picked up their 9th blank of the season and now 2 in a row. It’s 20 goals for DUNFERMLINE after they won 1-0 away to Queen’s Park.

In the Premier League, IPSWICH TOWN drew 1-1 at home against Nottingham Forest and they are on a total of 17 goals. 

In the Championship, MIDDLESBROUGH have moved to the top of the table after they won 5-1 away to Bolton. Middlesbrough have taken their goals tally to 31 goals and have now scored in all of their last 7 league/cup games. 

In the first game of the SCOTTICH CUP Second Round, between non-league Penicuik Athletic and CLYDE, was cancelled due to the weather here in the UK.

In the Championship WOLVES drew 1-1 at home against Portsmouth and they are on a total of 24 goals.

Week Eleven

Here we are with Week Eleven of the competition, and we are back to our normal Weekend Prize Money of £6. The cash went to DANNY HARRINGTON who now becomes our 12th player to win this season. Danny won with his personal best weekend score of 13 goals. Danny started with Golden Goals back in the 2006/07 season. In his first season he finished in 43rd place out of 87 with a total of 243 goals. He picked up one shared weekend win. Last season, Danny finished in 46th place with a total of 252 goals. Week Ten

Here we are with Week Ten of the competition we are half-way through the first half. This weekend we had our first Rollover of the season of £18 and the cash went to KEITH RATTLE who has already won some cash with his Bish-Bash-Bosh in Week Four. He becomes our second player to win twice this season. Keith won with his personal best weekend score and our highest score of the season. 

Keith started with Golden Goals back in the 2020/21 season on where he finished in 101st place out of 116, with a total of 220 goals. Last season he finished in the winning frame in 13th place with a total of 270 goals. He picked up one shared weekend win. This season we can see Keith at his highest position to date. His best team is Hearts. His teams are

Despite that, we only had one midweek game, It still means that the top five have mostly remained the same as last week’s News Sheet. 

We have joint leaders again this week, and they are ASHLEY LEGG and STALKY (1). Both are now on a total of 40 goals. In second place we still have GUY DOWSETT (1) and TIM WOOD both now on a total of 38 goals. In third place we have ROBERT NETTING now on a total of 37 goals. In fourth place we still have MANDY WRIGHT (2) now with a total of 36 goals. In fifth place we still have RICHIE WILLIAMS and TONY GUY (3), both on a total of 35 goals.

WEEKEND RESULTS

It’s so nice to have the football back again over the weekend. We had just 3 of our teams with out a game this weekend and another 7 that failed to score any goals. The average score that we had was 5 goals over the weekend. So if you scored more than that, then you have done well this week. The highest score over the weekend was 5 goals and they came from three of our teams. They were CHELSEA, HEARTS and READING.

PREMIER LEAGUE

MANCHESTER CITY are still top after they won 3-0 away to LIVERPOOL. City are now on a total of 21 goals and have now scored in all of their 7 league/cup games. Liverpool picked up their second blank of the season. In second place we have ARSENAL who won their fifth league game 2-1 at home to Leeds Utd. Arsenal are on a total of 14 goals. ASTON VILLA drew 2-2 at home to BRENTFORD and are on a total of 9 goals. Brentford are on 20 goals and have now scored in all of their 8 league/cup games. CHELSEA won 5-1 at home against AFC BOURNEMOUTH and have taken their goals tally up to 23. Bournemouth picked up their 11th goal of the season. IPSWICH TOWN won 2-1 at home to Fulham and are on a total of 14 goals. BRIGHTON have won 2-0 away to Sunderland and are on a total of 21 goals and have now scored in all of their 7 league/cup games. MANCHESTER UNITED drew 1-1 at home against TOTTENHAM and picked up their 11th goal of the season. Tottenham are on 9 goals. CRYSTAL PALACE won 3-1 at home against Nottingham Forest and are now on a total of 12 goals.

CHAMPIONSHIP

MIDDLESBROUGH are in 2nd place after they won 1-0 at home to WOLVES. Brough are on a total of 21 goals while Wolves picked up their second blank of the season. West Ham United are in 3rd place. CHARLTON drew 1-1 at home to BRISTOL CITY and are on a total of 12 goals. City are also on 12 goals. BIRMINGHAM CITY have won their 3rd league game, 1-0 away to West Brom and are on a total of 15 goals and have now scored in all of their last 9 league/cup games. CARDIFF CITY lost 2-1 away to Blackburn and they are on a total of 15 goals. DERBY COUNTY drew 1-1 at home to WREXHAM and picked up goal number 9. Wrexham are on a total of 10 goals. BURNLEY have picked up their first and biggest win of the season, 4-0 away to Watford. Burnley have taken their goals tally to 14 goals and have now scored in all of their last 7 league/cup games. PRESTON NE are still bottom of the table after they lost their 7th league game, 1-0 at home to Millwall. That is their fourth blank of the season. SOUTHAMPTON won 1-0 at home to Portsmouth and they are on a total of 23 goals,  and have extended their goal run to 11 league/cup games.

LEAGUE ONE

The highest team that we have here are STOCKPORT COUNTY in 3rd place, who won 3-1 at home to Barnsley. County are now on a total of 21 goals. OXFORD UNITED won 2-1 away to Notts County. Oxford are on a total of 15 goals and have now scored in all of their last 7 league/cup games. AFC WIMBLEDON lost 2-1 away to Plymouth and they are on a total of 8 goals. HUDDERSFIELD TOWN drew 2-2 at home to SHEFFIELD WEDNESDAY. Huddersfield are now on a total of 17 goals. Wednesday, after they had failed to score in their last 2 games, are now on a total of 16 goals. LEICESTER CITY lost 3-1 at home to Peterborough and are on a total of 12 goals. It’s 10 goals for MK DONS after they lost 5-1 at home to READING. Reading have taken their goals tally up to 27 goals and have now scored in all of their last 9 league/cup games. It’s 10 goals for BROMLEY are they lost 2-1 away to Mansfield. LUTON TOWN won 4-1 away to Wycombe and have taken their goals tally to 19 goals. CAMBRIDGE UNITED won 1-0 at home to Blackpool and are on a total of 16 goals and have now scored in all of their last 7 league/cup games.

LEAGUE TWO

SALFORD CITY are still top after they won 2-0 away to Cheltenham. Salford have taken their goals tally to 16 goals and have now scored in all of their last 7 league games. BARNET are still in second place after they won 3-1 away to BRISTOL ROVERS and are now on a total of 21 goals and they have now scored in all of their 9 league/cup games. Rovers are on 15 goals. CHESTERFIELD drew 2-2 away to Crawley and they are on a total of 17 goals and have now scored in all of their last 9 league/cup games. PORT VALE have won their second league game 1-0 at home to GRIMSBY TOWN. Vale are on a total of 4 goals. Grimsby after a goal run of 7 league/cup games, picked up their second blank of the season. After they had failed to score in their last 2 games, GILLINGHAM won 4-1 away to Rotherham and they have taken their goals tally to 15 goals. EXETER CITY have won their 3rd league game 1-0 away to Shrewsbury and they are on a total of 6 goals. YORK CITY drew 1-1 at home to Northampton and are on a total of 17 goals.

SCOTTISH RESULTS

In the Premiership, after they had failed to score in their last 2 games, CELTIC are back on top after they won 2-0 away to Motherwell. Celtic are on a total of 20 goals. In 2nd  place we have RANGERS who won 3-1 at home to Kilmarnock, and they are now on a total of 19 goals. They have now scored in all of their 10 league/cup games. HEARTS are in 3rd place after they won 5-0 at home to St Mirren. They have taken their goals tally to 28 goals. They have now scored in all of their 10 league/cup games. HIBERNIAN lost 1-0 away to Dundee Utd and that is their second blank of the season. ABERDEEN lost 1-0 at home against St Johnstone and picked up their 5th blank of the season.

In the Championship, STENHOUSEMUIR are still top even though they lost their first league game 2-0 away to Inverness CT. That is Stenhousemuir’s third blank of the season. It’s 10 goals for ARBROATH after they lost 2-1 at home to Greenock Morton. AYR UNITED drew 1-1 at home to DUNFERMLINE and they are on a total of 23 goals. Dunfermline are on 18 goals and they have now scored in all of their last 5 league/cup games. LIVINGSTON lost 2-1 at home to PARTICK THISTLE and they are on a total of 25 goals and they have now scored in all of their last 5 league/cup games. Partick are on a total of 23 goals.

In League One, EAST KILBRIDE are still in third place after they drew 2-2 at home to Airdrieonians. Kilbride are on a total of 32 goals.

In League Two, CLYDE in second place won 2-1 at home to Dumbarton and they are on a total of 29 goals. Clyde have now scored in all of their last 8 league/cup games.

Our worst performing team is EXETER CITY this weekend, as they have picked up six blank score sheets in 11 league/cup games. They have a total of 6 goals.

Our highest goal-scoring team in our 44th Season are LIVINGSTON. They won 8-0 at home against Forfar in the first round group stages of the Scottish League Cup in Week One.

GUY DOWSETT (1) is celebrating his sixth weekend at the top this week with his first selection, as he picked up a total of 6 goals from the week. Guy’s teams are Clyde, Manchester City and West Ham United. He also remains in second place with his second selection this week, as he picks up a total of 5 goals from the week. Guy’s other teams are Celtic, Clyde and West Ham United.

At the other end at 124 we still have our 2023/24 Champion JOHN FILTNESS, who has now been there for 4 consecutive weeks and now seven over the season. John picked up 5 goals all from the weekend. His teams are Gillingham, Liverpool and Wrexham.
