COUNT DOWN TO BRAZIL 2014

We have only sixteen more days to go before the launch of

Golden Goals World Cup 2014.
The Entry Forms will be available from the 12th May 2014 and they will have to be back to me, with payment, by the 30th May.
This will be our seventh World Cup so I hope that this will be our biggest to date.
So tell your family and friends the World Cup is coming!

Bank Holiday Monday Results


On Bank Holiday Easter Monday we had just one of our English premiership teams in action and they were Manchester City. They won 3-1 at home against West Brom and it takes their goals tally to 126 goals and are on target to beat that Peterboroughs record score of 129.
Preston picked up the highest score of the day as they win 5-2 at home to Shrewsbury and that now gives them a total of 80 goals. Peterborough have not done very well on the goals front lately but they made up some ground with a 4-1 home win against Carsile which now gives them 88 goals. It’s 72 goals for Birmingham as they lost 4-2 at home to Blackburn. After a two game dry spell, Blackpool picked up goal number 37 as they drew 1-1 away to Brighton. Wigan picked up their 17th blank of the season as they lost 2-0 away to Burnley while Bournemouth drew 2-2 away to Ipswich. Bournemouth are now on 68 goals. Nottingham Forest won 2-0 away to Leeds Utd and are now on 79 while Leeds picked up their 16th blank of the season. They have now scored just three goals in their last six games. Doncaster picked up their 19th blank of the season and now two games in a row as they drew 0-0 away to Millwall. QPR won 2-1 at home against Watford to take their goals total to 58 while Watford picked up goal number 82. Charlton won 3-2 away to Sheffied Wednesday and are now on 48 goals. Wolves are on 87 goals as they win 3-1 away to Leyton Orient who are now on 89. MK Dons after a two game dry spell of goals drew 2-2 at home to Brentford. The Dons are on 73 while Brentford are on 79. Bristol City won 3-1 away to Stevenage and are now on 79 goals. Swindon picked up goal number 65 as they win 1-0 at home against Bradford. Sheffield United picked up their 13th blank score sheet as they drew 0-0 away to Tranmere. Gillingham drew 1-1 away to Walsall and are on 59 goals. Bristol Rovers lost 2-1 at home to Rochdale and are on 50 goals while Fleetwood picked up goal number 69 as they win 1-0 at home against Wycombe. Portsmouth won 1-0 away to Northampton and are on 50 goals. Scunthorpe are on 67 as they win 1-0 at home against Oxford. Southend picked up goal number 64 as they win 1-0 at home to Accrington.
Also this week, Bolton picked up their 13th blank score sheet and now two in a row as they lost 1-0 at home to Leicester City. City picked up goal number 95. Reading are on 65 as they win 2-0 at home against Middlesbrough. Brough have now a total of thirteen blank score sheets. In Scotland Rangers won 2-1 at home against Ayr and are now on 116 goals.

WEEK THIRTY-SEVEN


Will Paul Davey be our next Golden Goals Champion as he remains top again this weekend after his combinations of teams picked him up a total of 15 goals. Paul has in his combination Man City, Rangers and Wolves and is now three goals clear of second place.
Paul Hudson has stayed in second place after collecting a total of 12 goals for the week his combination is  Man City, Rangers and Watford. In third place we have Mike Adkins. Mike picked up 15 goals for the week and his teams are Arsenal, Man City and Rangers.
In the 103 spot we still have Malcolm Cormack who has now been there for twelve weeks, and now thirteen over the season. Malcolm picked up 6 goals this week from his teams of Charlton, Portsmouth and Swindon. Above him in 102 is now Jim Howard as his teams  failed to pick him up any  goals and is fifteen goals in front of Malcolm.
Rangers still have that 100% scoring record after a run of fourty league/cup games.
It was RANGERS that picked up this weekends highest score with four goals. They won 4-0 away to STENHOUSEMUIR. With the three goals in midweek, Rangers have had a good week. They are now on a total of 114 goals and this is their best for the last ten seasons. Last season they picked up 107. Their highest score is 126 goals scored back in our 1992/93 Season. This is their 14th season on finishing on over 100 goals out of their 30 Season’s with Golden Goals. Stenhousemuir picked up their 8th blank score sheet of the season.
In the Premiership, LIVERPOOL are still top here as they win 3-2 away to Norwich. Liverpool are on a total of 105 goals as this is their best season from their last eleven seasons with Golden Goals. CHELSEA are still second even though they lost 2-1 at home to the bottom of the table Sunderland. Chelsea picked up their 75th goal. MAN CITY are third but they had no game this weekend but ARSENAL are fourth as they win 3-0 away to Hull. Arsenal have picked up six goals this week and they are now on 76 goals. EVERTON come next after they beat MAN UTD 2-0 at home. Everton are on a total of 73 goals which is the best that they have done since the 1995/96 Season. Man UTD picked up their 8th blank score sheet. SWANSEA are on 53 goals after a two game dry spell for goals as they win 2-1 away to Newcastle. TOTTENHAM are on 58 goals as they win 3-1 at home against Fulham. CYRSTAL PALCE won 1-0 away to West Ham and are now on 32 goals but they still could pick up the very lowest score of our history. ASTON VILLA drew 0-0 at home to Southampton to pick up their 15th blank and now two games in a row.
In the Championship, Champions LEICESTER CITY win 1-0 at home to QPR and picked up their 94th goal of the season. They are now set to pick up their best end of season score. QPR picked up their 15th blank of the season. We have two teams in the play-off zone and one of them is QPR. The other team is WIGAN. LEEDS picked up their 60th goal of the season as they win 1-0 away to Barnsley. MIDDLESBROUGH are on 56 as they lost 2-1 at home to Millwall. FOREST won 1-0 at home to BIRMINGHAM to pick up goal number 77 while Birmingham picked up their 15th blank of the season. WATFORD are now on a total of 81 goals as they win 3-1 at home to Ipswich. 
In League Two, SCUNTHORPE are still our highest team here again in second place but they had no game at the weekend. The only game that we had was when PORTSMOUTH won 3-2 at home against BRISTOL ROVERS. Portsmouth have now scored in all of their last four games and are now on 49 goals. Rovers are on 49.
In Scotland, Champions Celtic drew their game 3-3 away to Motherwell but they are now on 93 goals. Queen of South are on 61 as they win 3-0 away to Dumbarton. Morton picked up their 40th goal of the season as they win 1-0 at home to Dundee.
The three best teams to date in Golden Goals are Man City wth 123 goals followed by Rangers on 114. Liverpool are third with 105 goals.
Crystal Palace are still our worst team to date but now with a total of just 32 goals out of a total of 38 league/cup games.

Good Friday Results

Okay, let's get right up to date with the results from Good Friday. The biggest score of midweek must go to Wolves after they won 6-4 at home to Rotherham. With their biggest win to date, Wolves are now on 84 goals.

In the Championship, Blackpool picked up their 16th blank score sheet as they lost 1-0 at home to Burnley. Blackpool have now had two blank score sheets in a row. Bournemouth are on 66 goals as they lost 4-2 at home to Sheff Wed. Charlton drew their second game of the week with Bolton 0-0 at home. Charlton have now had a total of twenty-one blank score sheets. Bolton picked up their 12th. Doncaster picked up their 18th as they lost 2-0 at home to Derby. Wigan are now on a total of 70 goals as they win 3-0 against Reading. Reading picked up their 12th blank of the season.

In League One, Peterborough picked up their 13th blank of the season as they lost 1-0 away to Bradford while Brentford picked up their 77th goal of the season as they win 1-0 at home to Preston. Preston have now had a total of fourteen blank score sheets. Bristol City are on 76 as they win 2-1 at home to Notts County. Swindon won 2-1 away to Coventry and take their goals tally to 64 while Leyton Orient are on 88 as they lost 2-1 away to Crawley. Gillingham won 2-0 at home to Tranmere and are now on 58 goals and Sheffield United are on 61 as they win 1-0 at home against Stevenage. MK Dons picked up blank number fourteen as they lost 1-0 away to Port Vale. The Dons have now failed to score in their last two games and have now scored just two goals in their last five games.

In League two, Fleetwood pick up another two goals in their 2-1 away win over Cheltenham. Fleetwood are now on 68 goals. It’s 66 for Scunthorpe as they drew 1-1 away to Morecombe. Southend are on 63 as they win 3-0 away to Rochdale.

In Scotland the only game that we had was with Aberdeen who drew 0-0 away to Inverness. That was their 7th blank of the season.

Update on this weeks games

Lets get the results from this week up to date as we have had a few more surprises in our results.

In the English Premiership, Arsenal beat London Rivals West Ham 3-1 at home to take their goals tally to 73. Cyrstal Palace win again against Everton 3-2 away. Palace have now scored in all of their last four games picking up a total of eight goals. Their total now stands at 31. Everton are now on 71 goals. Manchester City could only draw 2-2 at home against Sunderland but the two goals give them a very good total of 123 goals and it now looks certain that they will beat that Peterboroughs score of 129.
In the Championship, Charlton are now on 45 goals as they lost 2-1 at home to Barnsley.
In Scotland, Queen of the South lost 3-2 away to Raith and are now on a total of 58 goals which means that they have now beaten their worst score of 56 goals back in our 1984/85 Season. Rangers are on 110 goals as they win 3-0 at home to Forfar. This is now the best that Rangers have done for the last ten seasons.

Reveiwing Our Teams Part-Seven

Here is our seventh and lasts set of teams for our English teams to see how they are progressing this season in Golden Goals. The next set will be all of our Scottish teams.

ASTON VILLA (1 vote) have a total of 39 goals this season and a total of fourteen blank score sheets to date. Villa have been with Golden Goals for fifteen seasons and they are just one of our original teams from the first season. Villa have never been a high scoring team as their best score came in our 2008/09 Season with 80 goals. The lowest so far, is just 53 from our 1996/97 Season. So this could be their very lowest score yet.
SWANSEA (1 vote) are on a total of 51 goals and they have had a total of ten blank score steets. This is Swansea’s 9th Season with the competition and they started back in our 1986/87 Season and finished on 72 goals.Their highest score came from the 2007/08 Season with 96 goals. Their lowest score is 48 back in our 2000/01 Season.
DONCASTER (1 vote) have 42 goals to date and a total of seventeen blank score sheets. Doncaster are in their third season with Golden Goals and they started back in our 2003/04 Season and finished on 84 goals which is their highest score to date. The next time that we see Doncaster was in 2006/07 Season and they finished on a score of 64.
GILLINGHAM (1 vote) are on a total of 56 goals and have had a total of nine blank score sheets. Gillingham have been in fifteen season to date and they are another team from our first season where they finished on a total of 87 goals. Their best score is 108 goals scored back in our 1999/00 Season. Lowest score is 46 goals in our 2004/05 Season. Last season they finished on 72.
WIGAN (1 vote) have scored a total of 67 goals and had a total of sixteen blank score sheets. Wigan have been with the competition for nine seasons and they started with us back in the 1992/93 Season with just 51 goals. Their highest score is of 84 goals back in our 1998/99 Season. Their lowest score was when they last appeared with us back in the 2006/07 Season with just 38 goals.
FLEETWOOD TOWN (1 vote) scored 66 goals to date and had a total of fifteen blank score sheets. This is their second season with us and last season they finished on a total of 60 goals, which looks like being their lowest score to date.

WEEK THIRTY-SIX


Who will be our next champion of Golden Goals as Paul Davey remains top again this weekend after his combinations of teams picked him up a total of 5 goals. Paul has in his combination Man City, Rangers and Wolves.
Paul Hudson has stayed in second place on goal difference after collecting a total of 8 goals for the week his combination is  Man City, Rangers and Watford. In third place we have CHRIS NUNN. Chris picked up just 4 goals all week and his teams are Chelsea, Man City and Rangers.
In the 103 spot we still have Malcolm Cormack who has now been there for eleven weeks, and now twelve over the season. Malcolm picked up 8 goals this week from his teams of Charlton, Portsmouth and Swindon. Above him in 102 is still John Dove as his teams  picked him up 6 goals and is now twenty goals in front of Malcolm.
Rangers still have that 100% scoring record after a run of thirty-eight league/cup games.
FA CUP Semi-Finals We had three of the four teams left in the FA Cup and only one has made it through to the finals. They are Arsenal and they had to go into extra time with Wigan after a 1-1 draw after 90 minutes. Arsenal go through in the penalty shoot-out 4-2. The single goal gives Arsenal their 70th goal of the season and Wigan’s 67th. In the other game Sheffield United lost 5-3 against Hull. United are now on 60 goals. So the final is now set between Arsenal and Hull.
In the Premiership, Liverpool beat Manchester City 3-2 at home  to keep their spot at the top. Liverpool become our third team to net over 100 goals this season with 102 and have now scored in all of their last twenty-seven games. Man City are still picking up them goals up and they look set to beat that Peterborough’s top score of 129 goals. Chelsea remained in second place as they win 1-0 away to Swansea. Chelsea are now on 74 goals while Swansea picked up their 10th blank of the season and now two games in a row. Man City are third and Everton are fourth as they win 1-0 away to Sunderland. Everton picked up goal number 69. Tottenham are on 55 goals now as they drew 3-3 away to West Brom. Crystal Palace are doing well as they win again 1-0 at home to Aston Villa. Palace picked up goal number 28. Villa picked up their 14th blank of the season.
In the Championship, Champions Leicester City had no game at the weekend. In the play-off zone we down to just two teams. QPR are there as they win 5-2 at home to Nottingham Forest. With their biggest win of the season, Rangers are now on 56 goals while Forest are on 76. Wigan are the other team. Bolton picked up goal number 60 as they win 1-0 at home to Barnsley while Bournemouth hit goal number 64 as they drew 1-1 away to Yeovil. Watford are on 78 as they drew 2-2 away to Millwall and after a three game dry spell for goals, Leeds win 2-0 at home against Blackpool. Leeds are now on 59 while Blackpool picked up their 15th blank score sheet of the season. Charlton picked up their 20th blank of the season as they lost 3-0 away to Brighton. Middlebrough are on 55 as they win 1-0 away to Burnley. Doncaster lost 2-1 away to Ipswich but picked up goal number 42. 
In Scotland, In the WILLIAM HILL SCOTTISH CUP Semi-finals, Rangers lost 3-1 against Dundee Utd which I must admit was a bit of a supprise to me. But Rangers have scored, and that’s what’s counts. Rangers are now on 107 goals. Aberdeen also lost 2-1 to St Johnstone. Aberdeen are now on 63 goals. We have no teams in the finals this season.
The three best teams to date in Golden Goals are Man City wth 121 goals followed by Rangers on 107. Liverpool are third with 102 goals.
Crystal Palace are still our worst team to date but now with a total of just 28 goals out of a total of 36 league/cup games.

Midweek Results


We had twenty of our teams in action this week, but four of them failed to score any goals. The highest score that we had came from Tottenham as they win 5-1 at home to Sunderland. It is Tottenham’s biggest win of the season and they are now on a total of 52 goals.
In the Championship, QPR lost 2-0 away to Blackburn to pick up their 14th blank score sheet of the season. Blackpool are now on 36 goals as they lost 3-1 at home to Derby. Bournemouth won 3-1 at home to Reading and are on 63 goals while Reading has 62. Charlton have picked up their biggest win since week twenty-five as they beat Yeovil 3-2 at home. Charlton are no on 44 goals. Bolton won 2-1 away to Doncaster to take their goals tally to 59 while Doncaster picked up goal number 41. It’s 92 goals for Leicester City as they lost 4-1 at home to Brighton. Middlesbrough are on 54 goals as they win 3-1 at home against Birmingham. Birmingham are on 70 goals. Nottingham Forest drew 3-3 at home to Sheffield Wednesday and are now on 74 goals. Watford beat Leeds Utd 3-0 at home to give them a total of 76 goals while Leeds picked up their 15th blank of the season and now three games in a row. Wigan lost 1-0 at home to Millwall and picked up their 16th blank of the season.
League One, It’s 76 goals for Brentford as they win 1-0 at home to Crawley while Peterborough won 2-0 at home to Gillingham. Borough are now on 83 goals while Gillingham picked up their 9th blank of the season. Sheffield United picked up their 57th goal of the season as they win 1-0 at home to Rotherham.
In Scotland, Aberdeen won 2-0 away to Hibs and are now on a total of 62 goals.

Aston Villa are on 39 as they lost 2-1 at home to Fulham while Swansea picked up their 9th blank score sheet as they lost 1-0 away to Hull.

QPR are there as they lost 2-1 away to Bournemouth. Rangers are on 51 while Bournemouth are on 60. Wigan are also there as they win 1-0 at home against Leeds Utd. Wigan picked up goal number 66 while Leeds picked up their second blank of the week and now fourteen for the season. Reading are still in as they win 1-0 away to Charlton. Reading hit goal number 61 while Charlton picked up blank number nineteen. Charlton have now scored just three goals in their last ten games. It’s 35 for Blackpool as they lost 2-1 at home against Yeovil. Birmingham are on 69 as they win 3-1 away to Doncaster. Doncaster picked up goal number 40. Bolton are on 57 as they win 1-0 away to Huddersfield. Middlesbrough won 1-0 at home to Derby and are now on a total of 51. Nottingham Forest lost 2-1 at home to Millwall but picked up goal number 71. Watford drew 1-1 at home to Burnley and are now on 73 goals.
In Scotland, Champions Celtic win 2-0 away to Dundee Utd and are now on 90 goals. Morton are on 39 as they win 2-0 at home against Livingston. Morton are now out of our worst team frame this weekend on 39 goals. Stenhousemuir drew 2-2 at home to Arbroath to take their goals tally to 63.
The three best teams to date in Golden Goals are Man City wth 119 goals followed by Rangers on 106. Liverpool are third with 99 goals.
Crystal Palace are still our worst team to date but now with a total of just 27 goals out of a total of 35 league/cup games.

A Better Night

We had a better night for goals last night as Peterborough won 2-0 at home against Colchester to take their goals tally up to 81.
In Scotland Aberdeen drew 1-1 away to Hearts. That was their 60th goal of the season. The last time that we had Aberdeen in the competition was in our 1997/98 Season and they finished on 50 goals which is their lowest score to date.

Reviewing Our Teams Part-Six


Here is our sixth set of teams to see how they are progressing this season in Golden Goals.
NOTTINGHAM FOREST (1 vote) have a total of 70 goals and they have been with the competition for 22 seasons. They were in our very first season and they finished on  atotal of 78 goals. They have had a total of eight blank score sheets to date. Their best score is 100 goals scored back in our 1988/89 Season and their worst is only 44 goals back in our 1998/99 Season.
CRYSTAL PALACE (1 vote) are on just 24 goals and this could be a Golden Goals record for the lowest score ever. They have had a total of sixteen blank score sheets this season. This is their 20th Season with the competition and their best score is 93 goals back in our 1996/97 Season. Last time out in the 2010/11 Season they finished on a total of 47.
BIRMINGHAM (1 vote) are now on 66 goals and this is their 18th Season with us. The best that they have done is 95 goals back in our 1994/95 Season and the worst was in our 2004/05 with just 46 goals. They have had a total of fourteen blank score sheets to date.
BRISTOL CITY (1 vote) have a total of 72 goals. They have had a total of eight blank score sheets this season. This is their 12th Season with Golden Goals and they were in our very first sason and finished on 79 goals which is their highest score to date.  57 goals is their lowest score and that was back in our 2008/09 Season.
BRISTOL ROVERS (1 vote) are on 46 goals and they have had a total of sixteen blank score sheets. Rover’s did not start with us untill our third season where they finished on a score of 65 goals. This is their 14th Season with us and their highest total is 73 goals scored back in our 2011/12 Season. Their lowest score is 49 goals scored in our 2001/02 Season.
EVERTON (1 vote) are on 65 goals and they have had a total of eight blank score sheets. Everton also started in our third season and they finished on their highest score of 111 goals. Their lowest score is just 48 goals in our 1997/98 Season. They picked up a total of 64 goals in our 2010/11 Season which was their last time out with us.

Bad night for Golden Goals


We had a bad night for goals last night as out of our nine teams in Golden Goals that played, only five picked up some more goals for us.
Morton from the Scottish Championship picked up the highest score as they win 3-0 at home to Dumbarton. After a two game dry spell of goals for Morton, they take their goals tally to 37.
In the English Championship, Leeds Utd lost 1-0 at home to Charlton to pick up their 13th blank score sheet of the season while Charlton hit goal number 41. Wigan are on 65 goals as they drew 2-2 at home to Leicester City. City are now on 89 goals.
In League One, Sheffield Utd drew 0-0 at home to Brentford to pick up their 12th blank of the season while Brentford picked up their 11th and now three games in a row without a goal. Wolves picked up their 9th blank score sheet as they drew 0-0 away to Stevenage.
In League two, Bristol Rovers picked up goal number 46 as they lost 2-1 away to Bury.

WEEK THIRTY-FOUR


It still could be any of our top four people that all could be our next champion of Golden Goals. But Paul Davey has come back to the top this weekend after his combinations of teams picked him up a total of 11 goals. Paul has in his combination Man City, Rangers and Wolves.
Paul Hudson has moved up to second place after collecting a total of 13 goals for the week.. Paul has spent thirteen weekend at the top and his combination are  Man City, Rangers and Watford. In third place we have CHRIS NUNN after going top last weekend. Chris picked up just six goals all week and his teams are Chelsea, Man City and Rangers. In fourth place is Mike Adkins who was top for eight weeks before he started to slowly falling down the table but could be back at top if he has a good weekend. His teams are Arsenal, Man City and Rangers.

Malcolm picked up seven goals this week from his teams of Charlton, Portsmouth and Swindon. Rangers still have that 100% scoring record as they have now stretched their total to thirty-seven games, as they win 2-1 away to Arbroath.
In the Premiership, After their big win at the weekend, Liverpool are now top as they win 4-0 at home against Tottenham. Liverpool are now on 97 goals while Tottenham picked up their 11th blank score sheet.  Chelsea are now second as they lost 1-0 away to Crystal Palace. Palace must be feeling on top of the world to collect the three points from chelsea. Palace are now on just 24 goals while Chelsea picked up their 8th blank of the season. Manchester City are third and Arsenal are fourth as they drew 1-1. Arsenal take their goals tally to 69 while our best team, City are now on 115. Manchester Utd won 4-1 at home to Aston Villa to take their goals total to 63. Villa are on 38 goals. Everton picked up another set of three goals as they win 3-1 away to Fulham. Everton have still scored nine goals in their last three games and are now on 65 goals. Swansea won 3-0 at home to Norwich and are now on 51 goals.

Leeds Utd lost 2-1 at home to Doncaster and picked up goal number 57 while Doncaster are now on 39. Charlton picked up their 18th blank of the season as they lost 3-0 away to Derby. Charlton have now scored just two goals in their last eight games.
In the Scottish Leagues, Champions Celtic drew 1-1 at home to Ross County and picked up goal number 88 while Champions Rangers won 2-1 away to Arbroath and are now on 106 goals. It’s 59 for Aberdeen as they drew 1-1 at home to Dundee Utd. Queen Of South won 3-0 at home against Morton and are on 55 goals. Morton picked up blank number fourteen and two in a week. STENHOUSEMUIR won 3-2 away to Ayr and are now on 61.
