Capital One Cup Fourth Round

We had seven of our Golden Goals teams playing in two domestic cup games last night. In the Capital One Cup third round games we had six of the seven playing for a place in the next round. Out of them four have made it through.
DERBY beat FULHAM 5-2 away which now gives them a total of 34 goals while Fulham are now on 24. LIVERPOOL are also through as they win 1-0 at home to Swansea. Liverpool are on 17 goals. SHEFFIELD UNITED are on 28 goals and through as they beat MK DON 2-1 away. The Dons are on 37 goals and are still our best team to date. CHELSEA won 2-1 away to Shrewsbury and are on a total of 28 goals.
In the Scottish Communities Cup quarter-finals, RANGERS go through as they beat St Johnstone 1-0 at home. Rangers are now on 34 goals.

Week Nine

Not a brilliant weekend for football and the reason for this is that we had seven of our teams that failed to pick up any goals with two of  them from our top voted teams.
The highest score that we had came from the English League One  where PRESTON won 4-2 at home to Colchester. It’s the second time that Preston have picked up four goals in a game and they are now on a total of 23goals.
Preston are in their 18th Season with Golden Goals and started with us back in our 1994/95 season. Their best end of season goals total is 90 scored back in our1999/00 Season. Their lowest is of 56 goals back in our 2007/08 Season. Last season they picked up a total of 86 goals.

PREMIERSHIP
CHELSEA are now five points clear of second place Man City after they beat London rivals ARSENAL 2-0 at home. Chelsea have now scored in all of their eight games this season and they are on a total of 23 goals. Arsenal’s goal run comes to the end as they pick up their first blank score sheet of  the season. MANCHESTER CITY beat Aston Villa 2-0 away to take their goals tally to 21. MANCHESTER UNITED are now fourth this weekend after they won 2-1 at home against EVERTON. United and Everton are both on just 13 goals each. That was Rangers 5th blank of the season and are back at the foot of the table.

NOTTINGHAM FOREST are still second as they drew 2-2 at home to Ipswich. Forest are on a total of 23 goals after a two game dry spell. WATFORD have moved into third place as they drew 1-1 at home to Brighton. Watford picked up goal number 22. CHARLTON drew1-1 at home to Birmingham and are now on a total of 18 goals while after a two game dry spell, LEEDS drew 1-1 at home to Sheff Wed and are now on 14 goals. FULHAM picked up their 5th blank of the season as they lost 2-0 away to Middlesbrough. WOLVES are on 16 goals as they drew 2-2 at home to WIGAN who are now on 13 goals after a two game dry spell.

PETERBOROUGH come next here in third place as they drew 2-2 at home to Oldham. Borough are now on 15 goals. Fourth are MK DONS as they win 2-0 away to Yeovil and that takes their goals tally to a massive total of 34 goals. It’s 19 goals for SHEFF UTD as they lost 3-2 away to Chesterfield. COVENTRY after a two game dry spell are now on 13goals as they drew 2-2 at home to Crawley. LEYTON ORIENT lost 2-1 at home to Swindon to pick up goal number 16. BARNSLEY won 1-0 away to Rochdale and are now on 14 goals. DONCASTER won 2-1 away to SCUNTHORPE and are now on 15 goals while Scunthorpe hit goal number 12.

LEAGUE TWO
BURY are now top in this one as they win 2-0 at home against Tranmere. Bury are now on 20 goals. LUTON are on 11 goals as they win 2-1 away to STEVENAGE. Stevenage are on a total of 14 goals. PORTSMOUTH are in real trouble now as they drew 0-0 away to York to pick up their 6th blank of the season and now two in a row. Portsmouth have scored  just four goals in their last eight games.

SCOTTISH LEAGUES
CELTIC picked up their 2nd blank score sheet of the season as they lost 1-0 at home to Hamilton. Celtic are now in sixth place in the Scottish Premiership. They have now scored a total of 13 goals in their last four games. DUNFERMILNE are on 19 goals as they win 2-0 away to Stirling. STENHOUSEMUIR drew 2-2 at home to Stranraer and are now on 14 goals.

THE BEST THREE TEAMS ARE…

MK DONS (34) HEARTS (27) RANGERS (24) Total of 85 goals.

THE WORST THREE TEAMS ARE…

QPR (4) ROTHERHAM (10) PORTSMOUTH (11)  Total of 25 goals.

QUEENS PARK RANGERS are still our worst team to date for this season. After a total of eight games, in which seven are league games and a cup game, Rangers have only picked up four goal so far. They have had five blank score sheets.

MANCHESTER CITY  have picked up our highest score of  the season when they won their Capital One Cup third round tie against Sheffield Wednesday 7-0 at home.

After Manchester City scored that record breaking end of season score of 137 goals last season, I thought that we would shadow them through this season as we did with Peterborough last season. In Week nine last season, City had no midweek game but picked up three goals at the weekend which took their goals tally to 22 goals after their first eight games played. They had just one blank score sheet from week six and their highest score was five goals.
This season after their first eight games they are now on a total of 21 goals after they picked up just two goals at the weekend. Like last season they had no midweek game. They have still had just one blank score sheet to date. So this week they are a goal behind but it’s still early in the season and that could all change in a couple of week’s time.

This is how the top five look this week.
