Derby Pick up More Goals

In the Championship, DERBY drew 1-1 at home to NOTTINGHAM FOREST which takes their goals total to 26 goals. Forest picked up goal number 30. 

In the Scottish Championship, HEARTS drew 1-1 away to Inverness CT and they are on a total of 51 goals. Hearts have now extended their goal run to twelve games.

Brentford Pick up Points Again

In the Championship, BRENTFORD are back to their winning ways as they win 3-0 at home to Sheffield Wednesday. Brentford are now on a total of 71 goals. STOKE lost 2-0 away to Barnsley and that is their twelfth blank of the season. SWANSEA won 1-0 at home to Coventry and they are on 46 goals. WATFORD won 3-2 away to Blackburn Rovers and they are now on a total of 45 goals. BOURNEMOUTH lost 2-1 at home to CARDIFF. As they picked up goal number 55, Cardiff are on a total of 48 goals and a goal run of eight games. PRESTON drew 0-0 at home to QPR and that is their fourteenth blank and now three in a row. 

In League Two, SOUTHEND are out of the bottom two as they win 3-1 away to Forest Green. Southend are now on a total of 24 goals after they failed to score in their last two games. 

In the Scottish Premiership, MOTHERWELL drew 0-0 away to St Mirren and they have now had a total of twelve blank score sheets and now two in a row.

Norwich Champions?

In the Premier League, LEEDS UNITED won 3-0 at home to Southampton and they are now on a total of 44 goals. 

In the Championship, NORWICH are now 10 points in the lead as they win 3-1 away to BIRMINGHAM. Norwich have taken their goals tally up to 48 while Birmingham picked up goal number 23. DERBY are on 25 goals after they won 2-0 at home to Huddersfield. After a dry spell of five games without a goal, BRISTOL CITY won 3-1 away to MIDDLESBROUGH. Bristol are now on a total of 43 goals while Brough picked up goal number 42. It’s 30 goals for LUTON as they drew 1-1 at home to Millwall after they had failed to score in their last two games. ROTHERHAM lost 1-0 at home to NOTTINGHAM FOREST and that is their tenth blank and now three games in a row. Forest are on 29 goals. READING picked up their tenth blank score sheet as they lost 1-0 away to Wycombe. 

In League One, PETERBOROUGH are now top after they won 3-0 away to PLYMOUTH. Borough are now on a total of 52 goals while Plymouth picked up their seventh blank and now two games in a row. LINCOLN CITY dropped down to second place after they drew 2-2 at home to SWINDON. Lincoln are on 59 goals while Swindon are on a total of 37. WIGAN won 2-1 away to Bristol Rovers and they are on 35 goals. CHARLTON picked up goal number 48 as they lost 2-1 at home to Burton. CREWE won 2-0 at home to ACCRINGTON STANLEY and they are on a total of 44 goals as Accrington picked up their eighth blank of the season. HULL lost 1-0 at home to Ipswich and that is their eighth blank of the season. OXFORD UNITED lost 1-0 at home to PORTSMOUTH and they have now had a total of ten blank score sheets and now two in a row while Portsmouth picked up their 59th goal of the season. SUNDERLAND won 2-0 at home to FLEETWOOD TOWN and they are on a total of 44 goals and have now scored in all of their last eleven games. Fleetwood picked up blank number fourteen.

In League Two, SALFORD CITY lost 2-1 away to Morecambe and they are on 41 goals and they have now scored in all of their last six games. BOLTON won 2-0 at home against SCUNTHORPE. Bolton are on 41 goals while Scunthorpe picked up their eleventh blank of the season. CHELTENHAM won 1-0 away to Cambridge United and that is goal number 48 for them. TRANMERE ROVERS won 3-2 away to Carlisle and they are now on a total of 44 goals. EXETER won 2-1 away to Colchester. Exeter are on 56 goals. HARROGATE won 1-0 at home to Mansfield and that is goal number 37 for them.

In the Premier League, after a two game dry spell for goals, BRIGHTON lost 2-1 at home to Crystal Palace and that is their 35th goal of the season. Brighton remain in 16th place in the league.

Week Twenty-Five

In Week Twenty-Five of the competition we had a total of four winners this weekend to share the £6 cash prize money. Three of them have already won some cash this season and one becomes our twenty-sixth winner of the season with them all winning on a score of 8 goals. Our winners are BARBARA BARNES (2) who picks up her fifth win of the season, MICHAEL FISHER and COLIN WEBB both picked up their second win with ROSE COLLINS picking up her first.

Barbara has once again won with her second combo and has now won £21 in cash. The last time that Barbara won was in Week Twenty-One with her second shared win. Third place is still her best position to date being there a total of five weeks over the season. She still has the highest scoring recorded for this season with 15 goals in Week Ten and has still had a total of three blank score sheets. Michael also last won in Week Twenty-One with that shared win. Michael has now been at number two for the last two weeks and has also had a total of three blank score sheets. Colin last won in Week Twenty picking up the full amount. Ninth is still his highest position and he has had a total of just two blank score sheets. Ross is in her third season with us and in her very first of 2018/19 Season, Rose finished in 56th place with a total of 296 goals. Last season Rose finished in 52nd place with 280 goals but she picked up two weekend wins worth a total of £15. This season she has been as high as fifth place back in Week Thirteen and has picked up just two blank score sheets. Their winning teams are

100 MIDWEEK GOALS

All but three of us picked up some goals this week once again and it has changed the order in the race for the cash again. We have just four players left to hit the magic 50 goal mark this week. The highest midweek score that we had was 9 goals and they went to JAMES SOMERVILLE. They came from Celtic 1, Hull 5 and Manchester City 3. So here are the top six places this week. In first place with 91 goals we still have last weeks leader RAYMOND HARROD. Ray needs just nine more goals to win the cash. In second place moving down from one last weekend we have MARK GREGORY with a total of 90 goals. In third place moving down from two we have CHRIS SETFORD on a total of 89 goals. In Fourth place on 86 goals is MICHAEL JACOBSON down from three. Moving in to fifth place this week we have JAMES SOMERVILLE with 84 goals. In sixth place we have CHRIS BOLBERY and CHRIS DICKER both moving down from four with A&A. CLARK moving back in to the race all with a total of 83 goals. 

WEEKEND RESULTS

Spring is nearly in the air and we had just one game cancelled due to the weather this weekend. We had a total of nine of our teams without a game over the weekend with another sixteen that failed to score any goals. The good news is that only four players failed to pick up any goals at the weekend. After getting yet another fantastic set of midweek results, the teams seem to be having a rest at the weekends. The weekends average score fell from five of last weekend down to just 2 goals this weekend. The Highest score over the weekend was four goals and we had two teams that picked them up. They came from the Championship where CARDIFF CITY won 4-0 at home to PRESTON. Cardiff are now on a total of 46 goals and have now scored in all of their last seven games. Preston picked up their thirteenth blank and now two in a row.  RANGERS won 4-1 at home to Dundee United and they are now on a total of 79 goals and look set in getting another 100 goals this season. 

PREMIER LEAGUE

We now have the top twelve teams here with MANCHESTER CITY remaining at the top after they won 1-0 away to ARSENAL. City are now on a total of 70 goals and have extended their goal run to nineteen games. Arsenal picked up their twelfth blank of the season. MANCHESTER UNITED are still in second place after they won 3-1 at home to Newcastle. United are now on a total of 66 goals. LEICESTER CITY are still in third place after they won 2-1 at away to ASTON VILLA. Leicester are now on a total of 52 goals while Villa picked up goal number 44. WEST HAM are now in fourth place after they beat their London rivals TOTTENHAM 2-1 at home. West Ham and Tottenham are both on a total of 53 goals. CHELSEA drew 1-1 away to Southampton after going a goal down. Chelsea are on a total of 56 goals but they have now scored in all of their last six games. WEST BROM picked up their twelfth blank of the season as they drew 0-0 away to Burnley. FULHAM won 1-0 at home to Sheffield United and they are on 26 goals. EVERTON beat LIVERPOOL 2-0 in this local derby and Everton are now on a total of 59 goals. Liverpool picked up their seventh blank of the season. 

CHAMPIONSHIP

NORWICH are still top here and now seven points ahead after they won 1-0 at home to ROTHERHAM. Norwich are on a total of 45 goals. Rotherham picked up their ninth blank and now two in a week. BRENTFORD are still in second place but they have lost their third league game 2-0 away to Coventry. Brentford picked up their seventh blank score sheet.

In the Play-Off’s we still have all four teams with Watford moving up to third place after their win on Friday night. SWANSEA dropped down to fourth place after they lost 4-1 away to Huddersfield. Swansea are on 45 goals but they have extended their goal run to ten games. READING are still in fifth place after they lost 2-0 at home to MIDDLESBROUGH. As Reading picked up their ninth blank of the season, Brough are now on 41 goals. BOURNEMOUTH remained in sixth place this week after they lost 2-1 away to QPR. Bournemouth are on a total of 54 goals.

Meanwhile BRISTOL CITY lost 1-0 at home to Barnsley and that is their fifteenth blank and they have now failed to score in their last five games. After not scoring in their last two games, NOTTINGHAM FOREST won 1-0 at home to Blackburn and they are on 28 goals. After a two game dry spell for goals, BIRMINGHAM are on 22 goals as they win 1-0 away to Sheffield Wednesday. STOKE won 3-0 at home against LUTON and they are on 41 goals while Luton picked up their fifteenth blank and now two in a row. 

LEAGUE ONE

LINCOLN CITY are still top after they won 2-1 away to WIGAN. Lincoln are on 57 goals while Wigan picked up goal number 33. PETERBOROUGH remained in second place as they win 3-1 at home to AFC Wimbledon. Borough are now on a total of 49 goals.

In the Play-off’s we still have three of our teams out of the four with HULL still in third place after they drew 3-3  away to Doncaster in fourth place. Hull are now on a total of 54 goals. PORTSMOUTH are still in fifth place as they lost 1-0 at home to Blackpool. Portsmouth picked up their tenth blank of the season. SUNDERLAND are still in sixth place after they won 3-0 away to Burton. Sunderland are now on a total of 42 goals and have now scored in all of their last ten games.

Meanwhile ACCRINGTON STANLEY drew 1-1 at home to Shrewsbury and they are on 41 goals. It’s 40 goals for FLEETWOOD TOWN after they drew 1-1 at home to CHARLTON. Charlton are on 47 goals and have now scored in all of their last nine games. After a goal run of fourteen games, PLYMOUTH picked up their sixth blank score sheet after they drew 0-0 away to Rochdale. After scoring just one goal in their last five games, OXFORD UNITED drew 0-0 away to Ipswich and after scoring in their last ten games, Oxford picked up blank number nine. SWINDON won 2-1 at home to CREWE. Swindon are on 35 goals to Crewe’s 42. 

LEAGUE TWO

The highest team that we have here is CHELTENHAM after they lost 2-0 at home to Bradford. Cheltenham picked up their seventh blank of the season and they are in third place. 

In the Play-off’s we have just two teams now with SALFORD CITY in now fifth place after they drew 1-1 at home to Carlisle. Salford are on 40 goals. TRANMERE in down to sixth place after they drew 2-2 at home to Oldham. Tranmere are on 41 goals.

Meanwhile SCUNTHORPE are back in play and they won 3-1 at home to HARROGATE TOWN. Scunthorpe are on 34 goals while Harrogate picked up goal number 36. BOLTON won 1-0 away to SOUTHEND and are on 39 goals and have now scored in all of their last eight games. Southend picked up their sixteen blank and now two games in a row. 

SCOTTISH LEAGUES

In the Premiership Rangers after their big win have now scored in all of their last twenty-eight games. Rangers are still 18 points in front of Celtic. CELTIC missed the chance to catch up with Rangers after they lost 1-0 away to Ross County. That is Celtic’s fifth blank of the season.  ABERDEEN after failing to score in their last six games, picked up goal number 33 as they win 1-0 at home to Kilmarnock. MOTHERWELL lost 3-0 at home to St Johnstone and that is their eleventh blank of the season.

All Scottish football below Championship level are still suspended but they are hoping to restart play on 6th March.

Our Best team this week are RANGERS after they have now scored in all of their last twenty-eight league/cup games. They have scored a total of 79 goals which now gives them an average score of 2.4 goals per game. 

Our worst team this weekend is BIRMINGHAM CITY who have scored just five goals in their last twelve games played. 

DERBY and SOUTHEND have both picked up the most number of blank score sheets with sixteen each. 

Our highest goal scorers in our 38th Season are MANCHESTER UNITED after they won 9-0 win at home against Southampton in the league in Week Twenty-Three.  

STEVE REEVE has remained at the top this weekend as I managed to pick up a total of just nine goals once again this week. It’s three weeks at the top for me this week. My teams are Brentford, Manchester City and Rangers. Michael Fisher is still in second place as he picked up a total of eleven goals for the week. Michael is just two goals behind me this week. His teams are Manchester City Manchester United and Rangers.

At the other end at 116 we still have John Nicholls who has now been there for nine consecutive weeks. Johns teams picked up just two goals this week from Bristol City, Fulham and West Brom.

Wolves Move Above Leeds

In the Premier League it’s 30 goals for WOLVES as they win 1-0 at home against LEEDS UNITED. Leeds picked up blank number six. 

In the Championship, WATFORD won 2-1 at home to DERBY. Watford are on a total of 42 goals while Derby hit goal number 23.

Manchester City Champions?

In the Premier League, MANCHESTER CITY are now 10 points in front of second place Manchester United as they win 3-1 away to EVERTON. City have taken their goal tally up to 69 goals while Everton are on 57. FULHAM drew 1-1 away to Burnley and they are on a total of 25 goals. 

In the Championship, NORWICH are still top after they won 2-0 away to Coventry. Norwich are on a total of 44 goals. BIRMINGHAM picked up their sixteenth blank and now two in a row after they lost 2-0 away to Millwall. After going a goal up, BRENTFORD lost 2-1 away to Q.P.R. Brentford are on 68 goals. SWANSEA have moved up to third place after they won 1-0 at home to NOTTINGHAM FOREST. Swansea picked up goal number 44 and they have extended their goal run to ten games. Forest picked up their fourteenth blank and now two in a row. BOURNEMOUTH won 1-0 at home to ROTHERHAM and they are on 53 goals while Rotherham picked up their eighth blank of the season after a goal run of eleven games. 

In League One, after failing to score in their previous three games, HULL picked up their biggest result of the season as they win 5-0 away to WIGAN. Hull have now taken their goals total up to 51 goals while Wigan picked up their twelfth blank of the season. It’s 40 goals for ACCRINGTON STANLEY after they won 1-0 away to Doncaster. 

In League Two, BOLTON won 3-2 away to Mansfield and they are now on a total of 38 goals and they have now scored in all of their last seven games. 

In the Scottish Premiership, CELTIC are now 15 points behind leaders Rangers after they won 1-0 at home to ABERDEEN. Celtic are on a total of 64 goals and have scored in all of their last eight games. Watford Move up to Three

In the Championship, It’s 40 goals for WATFORD and they are now up to third place after they won 1-0 away to PRESTON. Preston picked up their twelfth blank of the season. STOKE won 1-0 at home to Sheffield Wednesday and they are on a total of 38 goals. READING won 2-0 away to BRISTOL CITY and they are now on 47 goals while Bristol picked up their fourteenth blank score sheet and now four in a row. MIDDLESBROUGH won 2-1 at home to Huddersfield and they are on 39 goals. DERBY have won yet again as they win 2-1 away to Wycombe. Derby are on a total of 22 goals. CARDIFF won 2-0 away to LUTON and they are on a total of 42 goals and they have now scored in all of their last six games. Luton picked up their fourteenth blank of the season. 

In League One, PETERBOROUGH won 3- 1 away to Gillingham and they are now on a total of 46 goals and now in second place in the league. PORTSMOUTH lost 3-1 away to Bristol Rovers and they are on 58 goals.

In the Premier League, CHELSEA won 2-0 at home to Newcastle and they are now on a total of 55 goals. After failing to score in their previous two games, WEST HAM won 3-0 at home to bottom of the league Sheffield United and they are now on a total of 51 goals.

Week Twenty-Four

In Week Twenty-Four of the competition we had our twenty-fifth winner of the season winning on a score of 11 goals once again. It was AVA and AUBREY CLARK who picked up this weekends cash prize money of £6. The girls joined us in the 2018/19 Season where they finished in 98th place with a total of 265 goals. They had one weekend shared win. Last season they finished in the winning frame in 14th place with a total of 306 goals and picked up £14 in cash. This season they have been as high as 43rd place which was in Week One. They have picked up just three blank score sheets at the weekends and their best team is Manchester City. Their winning teams are

100 MIDWEEK GOALS

All but three of us picked up some goals this week once again and it has changed the order in the race for the cash again. We had another five players that have scored 50 or more midweek goals, taking our total up to 110 players that are on or over the halfway stage to the cash. We had two players that picked up the highest midweek score with 11 goals each. They were BARBARA BARNES (1) and JAMIE WOOD. Barbara’s goals came from Celtic 4, Manchester City 3, and Tottenham 4 while Jamie’s came from Celtic 4, Manchester City 3 and Salford City 4.

So here are the top five places this week. In first place with 86 goals each we have last weeks leader MARK GREGORY and joining him this week up from two is RAYMOND HARROD. In second place moving up from three last weekend we have CHRIS SETFORD with a total of 84 goals. In third place moving up from five with a total of 81 goals we have MICHAEL JACOBSON. In fourth place with 79 goals we still have CHRIS DICKER and moving back into the race this week we have CHRIS BOLBERY. In fifth place with 77 goals we have BOB SAWYER  and DEAN ZANIOUS back in the race. There are a total of eleven players in sixth place with 76 goals each. 

WEEKEND RESULTS

This weekend we had the weather interfering with our games once again this weekend. We had a total of nineteen of our teams without a game over the weekend with another thirteen that failed to score any goals. The good news is that only two players failed to pick up any goals at the weekend. After getting yet another fantastic set of midweek results, it was not so great at the weekend. The weekends average score fell from six of last weekend down to 5 goals this weekend. The Highest score over the weekend was six goals and they came from the Championship where WATFORD won 6-0 at home against BRISTOL CITY. With their biggest result of the season, Watford are now on a total of 39 goals. Bristol City picked up their thirteenth blank and now three in a row.

Watford are one of our original teams from the 1983/84 Season and they became our fifth most voted team. In that very first season they finished on a total of 86 goals. The following season they picked up their highest end of season score with a total of 102 goals. The last time that we had Watford was back in the 2015/16 Season and they finished on a total of 46 goals. This is their 21st Season with Golden Goals and over the years they have scored a total of 1475 goals to date. That gives them an average score of 70 goals per season. This season they have a total of eight votes and they have had a total of ten blank score sheets. 

PREMIER LEAGUE

We now have the top twelve teams here with MANCHESTER CITY remaining at the top after they won 3-0 at home to TOTTENHAM. City are now on a total of 66 goals and have extended their goal run to seventeen games. Tottenham picked up their sixth blank of the season. MANCHESTER UNITED are still in second place after they drew 1-1 away to WEST BROM. United are now on a total of 63 goals. West Brom picked up goal number 26. LEICESTER CITY are still in third place after they won 3-1 at home against LIVERPOOL. Leicester are now on a total of 50 goals while Liverpool in fourth place are on 58 goals. Chelsea are still in fifth place. BRIGHTON drew 0-0 at home to ASTON VILLA and that is their ninth blank score sheet and now two in a row while Villa picked up their fifth. ARSENAL won 4-2 at home to LEEDS UNITED and they have taken their goals tally up to 36 goals. Leeds are on 41 goals. FULHAM won 2-0 away to EVERTON and they are on 24 goals after a two game dry spell. Everton picked up blank number six. After a two games without a goal, WOLVES are on 27 as they win 2-1 away to Southampton. 

CHAMPIONSHIP

NORWICH are still top here after they had failed to score in their last four games, won 4-1 at home against STOKE. With their biggest result of the season, Norwich are now on a total of 42 goals. Stoke picked up goal number 37. BRENTFORD are still in second place but their goal run of eight games has come to an end after they lost 2-0 at home against Barnsley. Brentford picked up their sixth blank score sheet.

In the Play-Off’s we still have all four teams with Swansea are still in third place with Watford moving up to fourth place after their big win. READING are down to fifth place after they lost 2-1 at home to Millwall. Reading are on 45 goals. BOURNEMOUTH remained in sixth place this week after they drew 0-0 away to NOTTINGHAM FOREST. Bournemouth have now had a total of eight blank score sheets while Forest have had thirteen.

Meanwhile LUTON won 1-0 away to BIRMINGHAM and they are on 29 goals while Birmingham picked up their fifteenth blank of the season. It’s 40 goals for CARDIFF CITY as they win 3-1 at home to Coventry. DERBY won their eighth league game 2-1 at home to MIDDLESBROUGH. Derby are on 20 goals while Brough picked up goal number 37. 

LEAGUE ONE

We had a couple of games cancelled here for bad weather but LINCOLN CITY are still top after they drew 2-2 at home to ACCRINGTON STANLEY. Lincoln are on 55 goals while Accrington after a two game dry spell are now on 39 goals. Peterborough are now in second place but had their game cancelled over the weekend.

In the Play-off’s we still have three of our teams out of the four with HULL still in third place after they lost 1-0 away to MK Dons. Hull have now had a total of seven blank score sheets and now three in a row. Portsmouth are still in fifth place as their game was also cancelled. SUNDERLAND move into sixth place after they won 4-1 at home to Doncaster. Sunderland are now on a total of 39 goals and have now scored in all of their last nine games.

Meanwhile CHARLTON lost 3-2 at home to Gillingham and they are on 46 goals and have extended their goal run to eight games. PLYMOUTH won 1-0 at home to FLEETWOOD TOWN and they are now on a total of 51 goals and have now scored in all of their last fourteen games. Fleetwood picked up their thirteenth blank and now just three goals in their last six games. OXFORD UNITED won 2-1 at home to WIGAN and they are on 46 goals and have extended their goal run to ten games. Wigan are on 32 goals. 

LEAGUE TWO

The weather had a very big impact on this league and we were left with just two games being played. In the Play-off’s we have just two teams now with Tranmere in fourth place with Exeter in seventh place.

Meanwhile BOLTON won 1-0 at home to Stevenage and are on 35 goals and have now scored in all of their last six games. SOUTHEND drew 0-0 away to top of the table Cambridge United to pick up their fifteenth blank of the season. 

SCOTTISH LEAGUES

In the Premiership RANGERS won just 1--0 at home to Kilmarnock . Rangers are on a total of 75 goals and have now scored in all of their last twenty-seven games. Rangers have also scored just four goals in their last four games. They are now just 18 points in front of Celtic who still have two games in hand of Rangers. CELTIC won 2-1 away to St Johnstone. Celtic are on a total of 63 goals and they have now scored in all of their last seven games. ABERDEEN drew 0-0 at home to St Mirren to pick up their eleventh blank score sheet and now five games without a goal. Aberdeen are still in fourth place. MOTHERWELL lost 4-1 at home to Hamilton and that is goal number 27 for them.

Our worst team this weekend is FLEETWOOD TOWN who have scored just seven goals in their last fourteen games played. 

DERBY have picked up the most number of blank score sheets with sixteen out of their thirty-one league/cup games. 

Our highest goal scorers in our 38th Season are MANCHESTER UNITED after they won 9-0 win at home against Southampton in the league in Week Twenty-Three. 

STEVE REEVE has remained at the top this weekend as I managed to pick up a total of just nine goals this week. Two weeks at the top for me this week. My teams are Brentford, Manchester City and Rangers. Michael Fisher has moved up to second place as he also picked up a total of nine goals for the week. Michael is four goals behind me this week. His teams are Manchester City Manchester United and Rangers.

At the other end at 116 we still have John Nicholls who has now been there for eight consecutive weeks. Johns teams picked up just three goals this week from Bristol City, Fulham and West Brom.

Preston move to Tenth Place

In the Championship, PRESTON won 2-1 away to Blackburn Rovers to take their goals total up to 41. 

In the Scottish Championship, HEARTS drew 1-1 away to Queen of the South and that is their 49th goal of the season. Hearts have extended their goal run to ten games and they remain top of the league.

Last of the FA Cup Fourth Round

 

In the Last for the FA CUP Fourth Round games, CHELSEA won 1-0 away to Barnsley to become our sixth team through to the quarter-finals. Chelsea are on a total of 53 goals. WOLVES go out after they lost 2-0 at home against Southampton. Wolves have now had a total of ten blank score sheets and now two in a row. They have now scored two goals in their last five games.

More FA CUP Fourth Round & League

In the FA CUP Fifth Round, we had another three of our Golden Goals team through to the quarter-finals. They are MANCHESTER CITY who won 3-1 away to SWANSEA CITY. City are now on a total of 63 goals and have extended their goal run to sixteen games. Swansea picked up goal number 43 and out of the competition. LEICESTER CITY will join them as they win 1-0 at home to BRIGHTON with a very late goal. Leicester are on 47 goals while Brighton picked up their eighth blank of the season. EVERTON won 5-4 against TOTTENHAM in extra time to take their goals tally up to 56 goals while Tottenham are no won 52. BRISTOL CITY are out of the cup after they lost 1-0 away to Sheffield United. That was their twelfth blank and now two in a row. 

In the Championship, BRENTFORD are now top after they won 3-1 away to READING. Brentford are now on a total of 67 goals and they have extended their goal run to eight games. Reading picked up goal number 44. 

In the Scottish Premiership, CELTIC are now 18 points behind rivals Rangers as they win 4-0 away to St Mirren. Celtic have taken their goals total up to 61 and they have now scored in all of their last six games. MOTHERWELL won 1-0 away to Kilmarnock and they are on 26 goals.

FA CUP Fifth Round & League Results

In the FA CUP Fifth Round, we have two of our teams through to the quarter-finals and they are BOURNEMOUTH who won 2-0 away to Burnley and they are now on a total of 52 goals. MANCHESTER UNITED will join them as they win 1-0 at home to WEST HAM after extra time. United are on a total of 62 goals while West Ham picked up their fifth blank and now two in a row. 

In the Championship, CARDIFF won 2-1 away to ROTHERHAM and they are on 37 goals as Rotherham picked up their 35th goal and they have now scored in all of their last eleven games. 

In League One, ACCRINGTON STANLEY lost 1-0 at home to PLYMOUTH and that is their seventh blank and now two games in a row without a goal. Plymouth are on 50 goals and have extended their goal run to thirteen games. OXFORD UNITED won 2-0 away to Bristol Rovers and they are on a total of 44 goals and they have now scored in all of their last nine games. HULL drew 0-0 at home to LINCOLN CITY and that is their sixth blank and two in a row while Lincoln picked up their eighth. WIGAN won 1-0 away to Northampton and they are on 31 goals. PETERBOROUGH won 2-1 at home against Ipswich and they are on 43 goals. PORTSMOUTH won 2-0 at home to SWINDON and they are on 57 goals while Swindon picked up their twelfth blank score sheet and now just one goal in their last five games. SUNDERLAND lost 2-1 away to Shrewsbury and they are on a total of 35 goals and a goal run of eight games. After failing to score in their last four games, FLEETWOOD TOWN won 3-1 at home to Doncaster. Fleetwood are now on a total of 39 goals.

In League Two, SALFORD CITY won 4-1 at home to Cambridge Utd and they are now on a total of 38 goals. HARROGATE TOWN lost 1-0 at home to CHELTENHAM and that is their eleventh blank score sheet while Cheltenham picked up goal number 45. BOLTON drew 1-1 at home to Morecambe and they are on 34 goals. SOUTHEND won 1-0 away to Newport and they have moved up to second from bottom with a total of 21 goals. TRANMERE lost 1-0 at home to Stevenage to pick up their twelfth blank of the season.

Leeds Win Tenth League Game

In the Premier League, LEEDS UNITED won 2-0 at home to Crystal Palace and they are now on a total of 39 goals. Leeds are now tenth in the league and have now won three out of their last five league games.

Week Twenty-Three

In Week Twenty-Three of the competition we had our twenty-fourth winner of the season winning on a score of 11 goals once again. It was MIKE HARRINGTON our joint 1997/98 Champion who picked up this weekends cash prize money of £6. Mike started with us back in the 1995/96 Season and it was not long before he became champion. Two seasons later in the 1997/98 Season, he became joint champion with David Salmon as they both finished on a total of 276 goals. They became the second pair to be joint winners and we have not had any since. Mike is ranked as 34th in our Champions League. Last season he finished in 101st place with 230 goals. This season Mike has picked up four blank score sheets at the weekends and this is the highest that he has been all season. This is his personal best score to date and his best team is Brentford. His winning teams are

100 MIDWEEK GOALS

All but one of us picked up some goals this week once again and it has changed the order in the race for the cash. We had another seven players that have scored 50 or more midweek goals, taking our total up to 105 players that are on or over the halfway stage to the cash. It was MARK GREGORY that picked up the most number of midweek goals with a total of 15 goals. They came from Celtic 4, Manchester City 2, Manchester United 9. Mark is now on a total of 78 midweek goals this week which puts him firmly at the top. So here are the top six places this week. So as I have just said that MARK GREGORY is top moving up from five now with a total of 78 goals. In second place moving down from number one of last weekend we have RAYMOND HARROD with a total of 76 goals. In third place down from two is CHRIS SETFORD with a total of 75 goals. In fourth place with 73 goals we have CHRIS DICKER moving back into the race. In fifth place we have MICHAEL JACOBSON moving down from three with MICHAEL FISHER joining the race this week. Both have a total of 72 goals. In sixth place with 71 goals we have MARTIN CORBETT and STEVE STUBBS back in the race. 

WEEKEND RESULTS

This weekend we had the weather interfering with our games again this weekend. We had a total of fourteen of our teams without a game over the weekend with another sixteen that failed to score any goals. The good news is that only one player failed to pick up any goals at the weekend. After getting another fantastic set of midweek results, it was even better at the weekend. The weekends average score shot up from three of last weekend up to 6 goals this weekend. The Highest score over the weekend was four goals and they came from the Premier League where MANCHESTER CITY beat LIVERPOOL 4-1 away and from the Championship BRENTFORD won 4-1 away to MIDDLESBROUGH. 

PREMIER LEAGUE

We now have the top eleven teams here with MANCHESTER CITY remaining at the top after they won 4-1 away to LIVERPOOL. City are now on a total of 60 goals and have extended their goal run to fifteen games. Liverpool picked up goal number 57 and they are now back down to fourth place. MANCHESTER UNITED are still in second place after they drew 3-3 at home to EVERTON. United have picked up a total of 12 goals this week and they are now on a total of 61. Everton have moved up to seventh place with a total of 51 goals. LEICESTER CITY are up to third place after they drew 0-0 away to WOLVES. Leicester after a goal run of eleven games, picked up their sixth blank of the season. Wolves picked up their ninth and now just two goals in their last four games. CHELSEA are now in fifth place after they won 2-1 away to Sheffield United. Chelsea are on 52 goals. FULHAM drew 0-0 at home to WEST HAM and that is their thirteenth blank and now two in a row while West Ham after a goal run of eight games, picked up their fourth blank of the season. ASTON VILLA won 1-0 at home to ARSENAL and that is goal number 43 for them as Arsenal picked up their eleventh blank of the season. BRIGHTON drew 1-1 away to Burnley and they are on 34 goals while TOTTENHAM won 2-0 at home to WEST BROM. Tottenham after failing to score in their last two games, are now on a total of 48 goals. West Brom picked up their eleventh blank of the season.  

CHAMPIONSHIP

Norwich are still top here after their game on Friday night. BRENTFORD have moved into second place after their 4-1 away win against MIDDLESBROUGH. Brentford are now on a total of 64 goals and have now scored in all of their last seven games. Brough after now goals in their last three games are now on a total of 36 goals.

In the Play-Off’s we still have all four teams with Swansea now down to third place with READING up to fourth place after they drew 0-0 away to STOKE. Reading picked up their eighth blank of the season to Stoke’s eleven. WATFORD are down to fifth place after they drew 0-0 away to Coventry. That is Watford’s tenth blank of the season.  BOURNEMOUTH remained in sixth place this week after they won 3-2 at home to BIRMINGHAM. Bournemouth are now on a total of 50 goals while Birmingham are on 21 goals this week.

Meanwhile CARDIFF won 2-0 away to BRISTOL CITY and they are on 35 goals while Bristol picked up their eleventh blank score sheet. LUTON drew 1-1 at home to Huddersfield and they are on 28 goals. ROTHERHAM are on 34 goals as they win 3-1 away to PRESTON. Rotherham have now scored in all of their last ten games while Preston picked up their 39th goal of the season. NOTTINGHAM FOREST won 3-0 away to Wycombe and they are now on a total of 27 goals. 

LEAGUE ONE

Lincoln City are back on top after their win in midweek.

In the Play-off’s we still have three of our teams out of the four with HULL moving down to third place after they lost 1-0 away to Burton. PETERBOROUGH are down to fourth place after they won 2-0 at home to CREWE. After a two game dry spell for goals, Borough are now on 41 goals. Crewe picked up their eighth blank of the season after a goal run of fourteen games. PORTSMOUTH are still in fifth place as they drew 2-2 at home to PLYMOUTH. Portsmouth are on 55 goals while Plymouth are on 49 and have extended their goal run to twelve games.

Meanwhile ACCRINGTON STANLEY picked up their sixth blank of the season as they drew 0-0 at home to Northampton. OXFORD UNITED lost 3-2 away to Doncaster and they are now on a total of 42 goals and have now scored in all of their last eight games. FLEETWOOD TOWN drew 0-0 at home to Bristol Rovers and that is their twelfth blank of the season and now four in a row. SUNDERLAND drew 2-2 away to MK Dons and they are on 34 goals and a goal run of seven games. CHARLTON won 2-0 away to Rochdale and they are on a total of 44 goals and a goal run of seven games. SWINDON lost 1-0 at home to Shrewsbury and that is their eleventh blank and now just one goal in their last four games. It’s 30 goals for WIGAN after they lost 3-2 at home to AFC Wimbledon.   

LEAGUE TWO

TRANMERE have moved up to third place after they won 3-0 at home to Port Vale. Tranmere are now on a total of 39 goals.

In the Play-off’s we have just one team left in for now and they are EXETER. They won 3-2 at home to Bradford and they are now on a total of 53 goals.

Meanwhile most of the games here were cancelled in this league due to the weather with only HARROGATE TOWN managing to play. They won 3-1 away to Crawley and they are now on a total of 34 goals. 

SCOTTISH LEAGUES

In the Premiership RANGERS failed to beat bottom of the table Hamilton as they drew1-1 away. Rangers are on a total of 74 goals and have now scored in all of their last twenty-six games. Rangers have also scored just three goals in their last three games. They are now are 21 points in front of Celtic who have two games in hand of Rangers. CELTIC won 2-1 at home to MOTHERWELL. Celtic are on a total of 57 goals while Motherwell are on 25 goals. ABERDEEN lost 2-0 away to Hibernian to pick up their tenth blank score sheet and now four games without a goal. Aberdeen are back down to fourth place.

My teams are Brentford, Manchester City and Rangers. Jed Wearden has moved down to second place as he picked up a total of ten goals for the week. Jed is three goals behind me this week. His teams are once again Brentford, Liverpool and Rangers.

At the other end at 116 we still have John Nicholls who has now been there for seven consecutive weeks. Johns teams picked up just three goals this week from Bristol City, Fulham and West Brom.
