Mexico and USA Qualify for World Cup


In the World Cup Final 2022 we now know of 29 of the 32 countries that will be in Qatar as we add United States and Mexico to the list. The best that United States have done in the World Cup was back in 1930 in third place. Mexico was quarter-finalist in 1986.

Another Seven Countries Join the World Cup

 

In the World Cup Final 2022 we now know of 27 of the 32 countries that will be in Qatar as we can now add Cameroon, Ghana, Morocco, Poland, Portugal, Senegal and Tunisia all to the list.

League Two Results

We had just two of our Golden Goals teams in action and both results came from the English League Two. After a goal run of seven games, CARLISLE UNITED lost 2-0 away to Rochdale to pick up their seventeenth blank of the season. SALFORD CITY won 2-1 at home to Crawley and they have taken their goals total to 54.

Canada Through to World Cup

 

In the World Cup Final 2022 we now know of 20 of the 32 countries that will be in Qatar as we add Canada to the list. The last time that Canada was in the World Cup was in the groups stages in 1986.

Week Thirty-Four

In Week Thirty-Four of the competition due to the International games being played over the weekend we had no pay out this week. We now have our sixth Rollover of the season next weekend worth a total of £10.

100 MIDWEEK GOALS JACKPOT 

So there was no change in the running order as only two players picked up some goals this week. The race is now on to see how many of us can get to that 100 or more midweek goals and to beat the best midweek score of 136 goals which is currently held by Daryl Nicholls from the 2016/17 Season. 

LYANNA GRIMWOOD is still the only player with 100 goals.  So Lyanna remains on a total of 105 goals. Her teams are Fulham. Manchester City and Sunderland. BOB SOPER is still second with a total of 97 goals. In third place is still LOUIE HARRINGTON and KEAMUS SETNA both with a total of 90 goals. In fourth place with 87 goals we have  COLIN WEBB and JAMIE WOOD. In fifth place we have CHRIS BOLBERY, MANGO (Paul Moran) and PETER WELLARD and all are on a total of 86 goals. 

WEEKEND RESULTS 

We only had fourteen of our teams in action this weekend and out of them five failed to score any goals. The highest score we had was four goals and they came from SHEFFIELD WEDNESDAY.  They won 4-1 at home to Cheltenham. Wednesday have now taken their goals tally up to 66 goals.

LEAGUE ONE 

We still have the top two teams here with Rotherham still at the top with Wigan still in second place. 

In the Play-Offs we still have three teams with PLYMOUTH still in fourth place after they lost 1-0 away to IPSWICH. Plymouth after a goal run of six games, picked up their seventh blank of the season. Ipswich picked up goal number 62.Oxford United are still in fifth place with Sheffield Wednesday up to sixth place after their win. 

Meanwhile CHARLTON won 1-0 away to Doncaster and they are on a total of 52 goals. LINCOLN CITY lost 1-0 away to Shrewsbury and that is their sixteen blank of the season and now two in a row.

LEAGUE TWO 

EXETER CITY are still in second place after they won 2-1 at home to STEVENAGE. Exeter are on a total of 60 goals while Stevenage picked up their 42nd goal of the season. 

Meanwhile  CARLISLE won 1-0 at home to Bristol Rovers and they are on a total of 37 goals and they have now scored in all of their last seven games. SUTTON UNITED lost 2-0 away to Port Vale and that is their eighth blank of the season. SALFORD CITY won 2-1 at home to Walsall and they are on a total of 52 goals. Bottom of the table SCUNTHORPE lost 3-0 at home to Harrogate. That is their twentieth blank of the season and now just one goal in their last three games.

SCOTTISH LEAGUES 

In the Championship KILMARNOCK won  2-1 at home to Partick and they have remained top with a total of 52 goals.

In League Two KELTY HEARTS remained at the top and now sixteen points in front after they won 1-0 at home to STENHOUSEMUIR. Kelty after two blanks in a row are now on a total of 74 goals. Stenhousemuir picked up their ninth blank of the season and now just one goal in their last four games. 

Our on-form teams this week are RANGERS and SWINDON as both teams have now scored in all of their last nine League/Cup games. 

Our worst team this week is PETERBOROUGH after they picked up a total of twenty-two blank score sheets out of a total of forty-two league/cup games. 

Our highest goal scorers in our 39th Season are OXFORD UNITED as they won 7-2 away to Gillingham in the league in Week Twenty-Six. FULHAM have now scored seven goals twice this season. They first won 7-0 away to Blackburn Rovers in the league in Week Fourteen and they have also won 7-0 away to Reading in the league in Week Twenty-Four. MANCHESTER CITY winning 7-0 at home to Leeds Utd in the league in Week Twenty. CHELSEA won 7-0 at home to Norwich in the league in Week Twelve. BRENTFORD won 7-0 at home to Oldham in the third round of the Carabao/League Cup in Week Eight. 

SCOTT THOMSON (2) is now celebrated his fifth consecutive weekend at top after he had none of his teams in action this week. Scott’s teams are Liverpool, Manchester City and Oxford United. Scott has remained in 38th place in our Champions League table. Julia Wood has remained in second place this weekend after she also has none of her combination in action. Her teams are Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester City. 

At the other end at 113 we still have ZIGGY (John Wood) this weekend which is now his twenty-eighth consecutive weekend at the bottom and now thirty over the season. Ziggy failed to pick up any goals this weekend. His teams are Crystal Palace, Scunthorpe and Stenhousemuir.

We did not have many of our teams in action this week but with a full league fixture coming up next weekend, we could see another change for Champion.

Plymouth Safe in Play-offs

In League One, PLYMOUTH have remained in fourth place after they won 2-0 at home against Cheltenham. Plymouth are on a total of 78 goals and a goal run of six games. 

In League Two EXETER CITY in second place drew 0-0 away to Port Vale to pick up their tenth blank of the season. SUTTON UNITED have moved nearer the play-offs as they win 3-1 away to Oldham. Sutton are now on a total of 62 goals.

Week Thirty-Three

In Week Thirty-Three of the competition we had our 32nd winner of the season winning on a total of 11 goals. That player is GRANT PHILLIPS who won the full cash prize money of £5. Grant started with Golden Goals back in the 2012/13 Season on where he finished in the winning frame in 10th place with a total of 295 goals. He also picked up three weekend wins in that season. Last season Grant once again, finished in the winning frame in 7th place with 287 goals and a shared weekend win. This season Grant has struggled to keep on the first page as 37th place has been his highest in Week Twenty-Three. With only one blank weekend score sheet, he should be doing better than he is. His best team is Manchester City. His winning teams are

100 MIDWEEK GOALS JACKPOT

WEEKEND RESULTS

We had all but eight of our teams in action once again this weekend and out of them twelve failed to score any goals. Once again we had a fairly good weekend for goals as the average score went up from four goals of  last weekend back to 5 goals this week. The highest score we had was five goals and they came from SALFORD CITY.  They won 5-1 at home to bottom of the table SCUNTHORPE. Salford with their biggest result of the season are now on a total of 50 goals. Scunthorpe are on a total of 26 goals.

Salford City are in their third consecutive season with Golden Goals as they started with us in the 2019/20 Season, when they became our 111th voted English team into the competition. They finished on a total of 51 goals and in the following Covid season of 2020/21 they scored their highest end of season score with 56 goals. Over the three seasons they have netted a total of 157 goals to date and that now gives them an average score of 52 goals per season. This season Salford could end on their highest end of season score yet. They have a total of four votes this season and they have picked up a total of nine blank score sheets. 

FA CUP Quarter-Finals

We had five of our teams left in this round and out of them four have made it through to the semi-finals. They are CHELSEA who won 2-0 away to Middlesbrough which takes their goals total to 76. CRYSTAL PALACE won 4-0 at home against Everton and they are now on a total of 49 goals.  MANCHESTER CITY won 4-1away to Southampton and they are now on a total of  88 goals. LIVERPOOL won 1-0 away to NOTTINGHAM FOREST to pick up goal number 95. Forest are out with their tenth blank of the season. 

PREMIER LEAGUE

We had just seven of our teams in action here with most of the top runners in cup action. WOLVES lost 3-2 at home to Leeds Utd after going 2-0 up by half time. Wolves have taken their goals total to 40. ARSENAL in fourth place won 1-0 away to ASTON VILLA and they are on a total of 60 goals. Villa picked up their seventh blank of the season. LEICESTER CITY won 2-1 at home against BRENTFORD. City are on a total of 54 goals while Brentford picked up their 50th goal of the season. TOTTENHAM won 3-1 at home to London rivals WEST HAM. Tottenham are now on a total of 58 goals. West Ham hit goal number 56. 

CHAMPIONSHIP

We still have Fulham at the top with BOURNEMOUTH still in second place after they won 3-0 away to Huddersfield. Bournemouth are now eight points behind Fulham with a game in hand. Bournemouth are now on a total of 67 goals and have a goal run of eight games.

In the Play-Offs this week we have just one team again and  it’s still SHEFFIELD UNITED now in fifth place. They won 2-0 at home to BARNSLEY. United are on a total of 55 goals as Barnsley picked up their nineteenth blank of the season.

Meanwhile WEST BROM drew 2-2 away to Bristol City and they are on a total of 43 goals. DERBY drew 1-1 at home against Coventry and that is their 42nd goal of the season. HULL scored in the very last minute in their 3-1 home defeat by Luton. Hull are on a total of 36 goals. READING are on 45 goals this week as they win 1-0 at home against Blackburn. SWANSEA drew 0-0 at home to Birmingham and that is their fourteenth blank of the season. PETERBOROUGH have moved off  the bottom of the table as they win 3-1 away to QPR. Borough are now on a total of 36 goals and have now scored in all of their last four games. 

LEAGUE ONE

SUNDERLAND are down to sixth place after they drew 0-0 away to LINCOLN CITY. As Sunderland picked up their ninth blank of the season, Lincoln picked up their fifteenth.

Meanwhile CHARLTON won 2-0 at home to BURTON ALBION and they are on a total of 51 goals while Burton picked up their eleventh blank score sheet. BOLTON won 1-0 away to Crewe and they are on a total of 65 goals. After a goal run of six games, SHEFFIELD WEDNESDAY picked up their eleventh blank score sheet as they drew 0-0 away to Gillingham. PORTSMOUTH drew 0-0 at home to WYCOMBE and both teams have now had a total of eleven blank score sheets. Portsmouth have now failed to score in their last three games while Wycombe have scored just one goal in their last three games. 

LEAGUE TWO

EXETER CITY have moved up to second place after they won 2-0 away to Oldham. Exeter are on a total of 58 goals.

In the Play-Offs we now have just one of our teams this week and they are SWINDON now in seventh place after they lost 3-1 away to Crawley. Swindon picked up their 68th goal and have extended their goal run to nine games this week.  

Meanwhile  CARLISLE won 2-1 away to Barrow and they are on a total of 36 goals and they have now scored in all of their last six games. SUTTON UNITED drew 1-1 at home to Tranmere and they are on a total of 59 goals.

Stevenage game was cancelled due to the team catching covid.

In the Premier League CELTIC are still three points in front of rivals Rangers as they win 4-0 at home to Ross County. Celtic have taken their goals tally up to 87 goals. RANGERS won 2-1 away to Dundee after they went a goal down in the first half to take their goals total up to 80 goals. Rangers have now scored in all of their last nine games. HEARTS in third place won 2-0 at home to Livingston and they are on a total of 63 goals and now a goal run of six games. ABERDEEN won 3-1 at home to Hibernian and they are now on a total of 41 goals after thye had failed to score in their last two games.

Julia Wood has moved back into second place this weekend after she picked up a total of 9 goals from the week. Her teams are Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester City.

At the other end at 113 we still have ZIGGY (John Wood) this weekend which is now his twenty-seventh consecutive weekend at the bottom and now twenty-nine over the season. Ziggy picked up 6 goal this weekend. His teams are Crystal Palace, Scunthorpe and Stenhousemuir.

Wolves Missed Opportunity

In the Premier League, WOLVES had all three points taken away from them as they lost 3-2 at home to Leeds Utd. The win would of moved them up to sixth place. Wolves went 2-0 up in the first half but had a player sent off early in the start of the second half. Leeds took good advantage of this and scored twice in a few moments. Their last goal came in injury time. Despite that Wolves are now on a total of 40 goals.

Liverpool Closing in on City

In the Premier League, LIVERPOOL have cut the gap between them and Manchester City at the top to one point as they win 2-0 away to ARSENAL. Liverpool have taken their goals total to 94 while Arsenal picked up their tenth blank of the season. TOTTENHAM won 2-0 away to BRIGHTON and they are on a total of 55 goals as Brighton picked up their eleventh blank and now two in a row. Brighton have now scored just one goal in their last six games. 

In the Championship SHEFFIELD UNITED picked up their thirteenth blank of the season after they drew 0-0 away to Blackpool. CARDIFF CITY won 2-1 at home to Stoke and they are on a total of 51 goals. HULL won 2-0 away to Coventry and after they failed to score in their two games, have now taken their goals total to 35. PRESTON have now failed to score in their last two games as they lost 4-0 away to Luton. Preston have now had a total of fourteen blank score sheets. NOTTINGHAM FOREST won 3-0 at home to QPR and they are now on a total of 62 goals. Bottom of the table PETERBOROUGH lost 3-2 at home to SWANSEA and they are on a total of 33 goals while Swansea take their goals tally to 50. 

In the Scottish League Two KELTY HEARTS drew 0-0 away to Albion Rovers to pick up their sixth blank of the season.

Fulham Still Lead with 11 Points

In the Championship top of the table FULHAM lost 1-0 away to WEST BROM to pick up their fifth blank score sheet of the season after a goal run of fifteen games. Fulham have only lost six of their 37 league games. West Brom are on a total of 41 goals. BOURNEMOUTH in second place drew 1-1 at home to READING. Bournemouth are on a total of 64 goals while Reading, who had failed to score in their last two games, are on a total of 44 goals. BARNSLEY are on 33 goals after they won 2-0 at home to Bristol City. DERBY lost 3-1 away to Blackburn and that is their 41st goal of the season. 

In League One top of the table ROTHERHAM won 2-1 at home against LINCOLN CITY. Its 70 goals for Rotherham while Lincoln picked up goal number 46. It’s 70 goals for WIGAN in second place after they won 2-0 away to Crewe. CHARLTON picked up another goal after they won 1-0 at home against Gillingham and they are now on a total of 49 goals. PLYMOUTH won 1-0 at home to PORTSMOUTH and they are on 72 goals while Portsmouth picked up their tenth blank score sheet and now two in a row. SHEFFIELD WEDNESDAY drew 1-1 at home to Accrington and they are on a total of 62 goals. WYCOMBE won 1-0 at home to Fleetwood and they are on a total of 67 goals. 

In League Two CARLISLE UNITED lost 2-1 at home to Newport and that is goal number 34 for them. EXETER CITY in the play-offs won 2-1 at home to Crawley and they are on a total of 56 goals. SWINDON are also their as they win 2-1 at home to SUTTON UNITED. Swindon are on a total of 67 goals and have extended their goal run to eight games. Sutton are on 58 goals. SALFORD CITY are on 45 goals after they drew 1-1 away to Rochdale. Bottom of the table SCUNTHORPE lost 1-0 at home to Barrow to pick up their nineteenth blank of the season. STEVENAGE lost 2-1 at home to Northampton and they are on a total of 41 goals.

Manchester City Held by Palace

In the last game of the Scottish Cup quarter-finals we now have three of the four teams in the semi-finals as we can now add CELTIC to the list. They won 3-0 away to Dundee Utd to take their goals total up to 83 goals. 

In the Premier League MANCHESTER CITY’S record of scoring in all of their last twenty-one League/Cup games has finally come to the end as they drew 0-0 away to CRYSTAL PALACE. The draw means that City have now picked up a total of five blank score sheets to Palace total of ten.

Week Thirty-Two

In Week Thirty-Two of the competition we had our thirty-first winner of the season winning on a total of 12 goals. That player is ANDY EYLES who won the full cash prize money of £5. Andy started with us back in the 2004/05 Season on where he finished in the winning frame in 25th place .and he won on a total of 275 goals. Last season he also finished in the winning frame in 9th place with a total of 283 goals. He also picked up one shared weekend win. This season Andy has not done so well. The highest that he has been to date is 39th place in Week Two. He has picked up four blank score sheets and this is his person best weekend score. His winning teams are

100 MIDWEEK GOALS JACKPOT 

Congratulations to LYANNA GRIMWOOD who has won this seasons 100 Midweek Goals Jackpot of £25 in cash. Lyanna picked up a total of 8 goals this week which now takes her total up to 105 goals. Her teams are Fulham. Manchester City and Sunderland. So the race has now turned to see how many of us can reach 100 goals and to beat the best midweek score of 136 goals which is currently held by Daryl Nicholls from the 2016/17 Season. With Lyanna at the top with 105 goals, BOB SOPER is still second with a total of 97 goals. In third place is still LOUIE HARRINGTON with a total of 90 goals. In fourth place with 88 goals we still have KEAMUS SETNA. In fifth place we now have MANGO (Paul Moran), COLIN WEBB, PETER WELLARD and JAMIE WOOD all are on a total of 86 goals. 

WEEKEND RESULTS 

We had all but five of our teams in action once again this weekend and out of them eighteen failed to score any goals. But even after that we had a fairly good weekend for goals as the average score went down from five goals of last weekend to 4 goals this week. The highest score we had was six goals and they came from SHEFFIELD WEDNESDAY. With their biggest result of the season, Wednesday have now taken their goals tally up to 61. Wednesday started with Golden Goals in our very first season of 1983/84. They became our 21st voted team and in that season they finished on a total of 95 goals. Their highest score came in the 1990/91 Season with 101 goals and that is the only time that they have score 100 goals in a season. The last time that we had Wednesday was in the 2019/20 Season where they finished on a total of 62 goals. This is their 18th Season with us and they have netted a total of 1368 goals in that time. That now gives them an average score of 76 goals per season.  

PREMIER LEAGUE 

Top of the table Manchester City had no game this weekend but they are now just three points in front of LIVERPOOL in second place. They won 2-0 away to BRIGHTON to take their goals total to 92. Brighton picked up their tenth blank of the season and now just one goal in their last five games. CHELSEA are still in third place after they won 1-0 at home against Newcastle with a very late goal. Chelsea are now on a total of 74 goals. ARSENAL are still in fourth place after they won 2-0 at home to LEICESTER CITY. Arsenal are on a total of 59 goals while Leicester picked up their fifth blank of the season. It’s 50 goals for MANCHESTER UNITED in fifth place after they won 3-2 at home against TOTTENHAM. Tottenham are on a total of 53 goals. BRENTFORD won 2-0 at home against Burnley and they are on a total of 49 goals. WOLVES won 1-0 away to Everton and picked up goal number 38. WATFORD won 2-1 away to Southampton and they are on a total of 32 goals. WEST HAM won 2-1 at home to ASTON VILLA and are on a total of 55 goals while Villa are on 48 goals. 

CHAMPIONSHIP 

We still have FULHAM at the top after they drew 1-1 away to BARNSLEY. Fulham are on a total of 94 and have scored in all of their last fifteen games. Barnsley are on a total of 31 goals. BOURNEMOUTH are back up to second place after they won 2-0 at home to DERBY. Bournemouth are on a total of 63 goals and have a goal run of six games. Derby second from bottom picked up their thirteenth blank of the season. 

In the Play-Offs this week we have just one team again but this weekend it’s SHEFFIELD UNITED in sixth place. They lost 4-1 away to Coventry. United picked up goal number 53. 

Meanwhile it’s 40 goals for WEST BROM after they drew 2-2 at home to Huddersfield. HULL have picked up another blank score sheet as they drew 0-0 away to Birmingham. Hull have now had a total of nineteen blank score sheets and now two in a row. SWANSEA picked up their thirteenth blank score sheet as they lost 1-0 away to Blackpool. CARDIFF drew 0-0 at home to PRESTON and they have now had a total of fourteen blank score sheets to Preston’s total of thirteen. NOTTINGHAM FOREST picked up another four goals as they win 4-0 at home to READING. Forest are now on a total of 59 goals while Reading picked up their fourteenth blank and now two in a row. Bottom of the table PETERBOROUGH drew 2-2 at home to Stoke. Borough are on a total of 31 goals. 

LEAGUE ONE 

We still have the top two teams here with ROTHERHAM still at the top after they drew 0-0 away to WYCOMBE. Rotherham picked up their eighth blank of the season. Wycombe picked up their tenth after a goal run of six games. WIGAN are still in second place after they also drew 1-1 away to MK Dons. Wigan are on a total of 68 goals. 

In the Play-Offs we still have three teams with OXFORD UNITED still in fourth place after they won 2-1 away to Shrewsbury. Oxford are on a total of 79 goals and have scored in all of their last seven games. SUNDERLAND are back up to fifth place after they won 2-1 at home to Crewe. Sunderland are now on a total of 74 goals. PLYMOUTH are now in sixth place after they won 1-0 away to BOLTON. Plymouth are on a total of 71 goals while Bolton picked up their sixteenth blank of the season. 

Meanwhile LINCOLN CITY won 2-0 away to AFC Wimbledon and they are on a total of 45 goals. After failing to score in their previous four games, CHARLTON picked up goal number 48 after they lost 2-1 away to Accrington. BURTON ALBION won 3-2 at home to Fleetwood and they are now on a total of 52 goals. IPSWICH drew 0-0 at home to PORTSMOUTH and that is their twelfth blank to Portsmouth ninth after a goal run of nine games. 

LEAGUE TWO 

In the Play-Offs we now have three of our teams this week and they are EXETER CITY in fifth place after they drew 0-0 at home to SALFORD CITY. Exeter picked up their ninth blank after a goal run of seven games. Salford also picked up their ninth blank score sheet of the season. SWINDON now in sixth place after they won 1-0 at home to Oldham. Swindon are now on a total of 65 goals and have extended their goal run to seven games this week. SUTTON UNITED are down to seventh place as they lose 1-0 away to Walsall to pick up their seventh blank score sheet. 

Meanwhile CARLISLE won 2-1 at home to Northampton and they are on a total of 33 goals. Bottom of the table SCUNTHORPE lost 3-1 at home to Colchester to pick up their 25th goal of the season. STEVENAGE lost 2-0 at home to Newport and that is their seventh blank of the season.

SCOTTISH LEAGUES 

In the Scottish Cup Quarter-Finals HEARTS are in the semi-finals after they won 4-2 at home to St Mirren. Hearts are on a total of 61 goals. RANGERS are also through as they win 3-0 away to Dundee to take their goals total up to 78 goals. Rangers have now scored in all of their last eight games.

In League Two KELTY HEARTS remained at the top and now fourteen points in front as they win 3-1 at home against Albion. Kelty have now taken their goals total to 73 goals. STENHOUSEMUIR drew 0-0 at home to Edinburgh City and that is their eighth blank of the season and now two in a row. 

Our on-form team this week are MANCHESTER CITY after scoring in all of their last twenty-one League/Cup games. They have a total of 84 goals. 

Our worst team this week is PETERBOROUGH after they picked up a total of twenty-two blank score sheets out of a total of forty league/cup games. 

Our highest goal scorers in our 39th Season are OXFORD UNITED as they won 7-2 away to Gillingham in the league in Week Twenty-Six. FULHAM have now scored seven goals twice this season. They first won 7-0 away to Blackburn Rovers in the league in Week Fourteen and they have also won 7-0 away to Reading in the league in Week Twenty-Four. MANCHESTER CITY winning 7-0 at home to Leeds Utd in the league in Week Twenty. CHELSEA won 7-0 at home to Norwich in the league in Week Twelve. BRENTFORD won 7-0 at home to Oldham in the third round of the Carabao/League Cup in Week Eight. 

SCOTT THOMSON (2) has now celebrated his third weekend at top after he picked up a total of just 4 goals from the weekend. Scott’s teams are Liverpool, Manchester City and Oxford United. Peter Wellard has moved back into second place this weekend after he picked up a total of 10 goals from the week. His teams are Chelsea, Fulham and Manchester City. 

At the other end at 113 we still have ZIGGY (John Wood) this weekend which is now his twenty-sixth consecutive weekend at the bottom and now twenty-eight over the season. Ziggy picked up just 1 goal this week. His teams are Crystal Palace, Scunthorpe and Stenhousemuir.

The top ten have settled down a bit this weekend but that is mainly due to Manchester City and Celtic not being in action over the weekend.
