Week Thirty-Two

In Week Thirty-Two of the competition we had our thirty-first winner of the season winning on a total of 12 goals. That player is ANDY EYLES who won the full cash prize money of £5. Andy started with us back in the 2004/05 Season on where he finished in the winning frame in 25th place .and he won on a total of 275 goals. Last season he also finished in the winning frame in 9th place with a total of 283 goals. He also picked up one shared weekend win. This season Andy has not done so well. The highest that he has been to date is 39th place in Week Two. He has picked up four blank score sheets and this is his person best weekend score. His winning teams are

100 MIDWEEK GOALS JACKPOT 

Congratulations to LYANNA GRIMWOOD who has won this seasons 100 Midweek Goals Jackpot of £25 in cash. Lyanna picked up a total of 8 goals this week which now takes her total up to 105 goals. Her teams are Fulham. Manchester City and Sunderland. So the race has now turned to see how many of us can reach 100 goals and to beat the best midweek score of 136 goals which is currently held by Daryl Nicholls from the 2016/17 Season. With Lyanna at the top with 105 goals, BOB SOPER is still second with a total of 97 goals. In third place is still LOUIE HARRINGTON with a total of 90 goals. In fourth place with 88 goals we still have KEAMUS SETNA. In fifth place we now have MANGO (Paul Moran), COLIN WEBB, PETER WELLARD and JAMIE WOOD all are on a total of 86 goals. 

WEEKEND RESULTS 

We had all but five of our teams in action once again this weekend and out of them eighteen failed to score any goals. But even after that we had a fairly good weekend for goals as the average score went down from five goals of last weekend to 4 goals this week. The highest score we had was six goals and they came from SHEFFIELD WEDNESDAY. With their biggest result of the season, Wednesday have now taken their goals tally up to 61. Wednesday started with Golden Goals in our very first season of 1983/84. They became our 21st voted team and in that season they finished on a total of 95 goals. Their highest score came in the 1990/91 Season with 101 goals and that is the only time that they have score 100 goals in a season. The last time that we had Wednesday was in the 2019/20 Season where they finished on a total of 62 goals. This is their 18th Season with us and they have netted a total of 1368 goals in that time. That now gives them an average score of 76 goals per season.  

PREMIER LEAGUE 

Top of the table Manchester City had no game this weekend but they are now just three points in front of LIVERPOOL in second place. They won 2-0 away to BRIGHTON to take their goals total to 92. Brighton picked up their tenth blank of the season and now just one goal in their last five games. CHELSEA are still in third place after they won 1-0 at home against Newcastle with a very late goal. Chelsea are now on a total of 74 goals. ARSENAL are still in fourth place after they won 2-0 at home to LEICESTER CITY. Arsenal are on a total of 59 goals while Leicester picked up their fifth blank of the season. It’s 50 goals for MANCHESTER UNITED in fifth place after they won 3-2 at home against TOTTENHAM. Tottenham are on a total of 53 goals. BRENTFORD won 2-0 at home against Burnley and they are on a total of 49 goals. WOLVES won 1-0 away to Everton and picked up goal number 38. WATFORD won 2-1 away to Southampton and they are on a total of 32 goals. WEST HAM won 2-1 at home to ASTON VILLA and are on a total of 55 goals while Villa are on 48 goals. 

CHAMPIONSHIP 

We still have FULHAM at the top after they drew 1-1 away to BARNSLEY. Fulham are on a total of 94 and have scored in all of their last fifteen games. Barnsley are on a total of 31 goals. BOURNEMOUTH are back up to second place after they won 2-0 at home to DERBY. Bournemouth are on a total of 63 goals and have a goal run of six games. Derby second from bottom picked up their thirteenth blank of the season. 

In the Play-Offs this week we have just one team again but this weekend it’s SHEFFIELD UNITED in sixth place. They lost 4-1 away to Coventry. United picked up goal number 53. 

Meanwhile it’s 40 goals for WEST BROM after they drew 2-2 at home to Huddersfield. HULL have picked up another blank score sheet as they drew 0-0 away to Birmingham. Hull have now had a total of nineteen blank score sheets and now two in a row. SWANSEA picked up their thirteenth blank score sheet as they lost 1-0 away to Blackpool. CARDIFF drew 0-0 at home to PRESTON and they have now had a total of fourteen blank score sheets to Preston’s total of thirteen. NOTTINGHAM FOREST picked up another four goals as they win 4-0 at home to READING. Forest are now on a total of 59 goals while Reading picked up their fourteenth blank and now two in a row. Bottom of the table PETERBOROUGH drew 2-2 at home to Stoke. Borough are on a total of 31 goals. 

LEAGUE ONE 

We still have the top two teams here with ROTHERHAM still at the top after they drew 0-0 away to WYCOMBE. Rotherham picked up their eighth blank of the season. Wycombe picked up their tenth after a goal run of six games. WIGAN are still in second place after they also drew 1-1 away to MK Dons. Wigan are on a total of 68 goals. 

In the Play-Offs we still have three teams with OXFORD UNITED still in fourth place after they won 2-1 away to Shrewsbury. Oxford are on a total of 79 goals and have scored in all of their last seven games. SUNDERLAND are back up to fifth place after they won 2-1 at home to Crewe. Sunderland are now on a total of 74 goals. PLYMOUTH are now in sixth place after they won 1-0 away to BOLTON. Plymouth are on a total of 71 goals while Bolton picked up their sixteenth blank of the season. 

Meanwhile LINCOLN CITY won 2-0 away to AFC Wimbledon and they are on a total of 45 goals. After failing to score in their previous four games, CHARLTON picked up goal number 48 after they lost 2-1 away to Accrington. BURTON ALBION won 3-2 at home to Fleetwood and they are now on a total of 52 goals. IPSWICH drew 0-0 at home to PORTSMOUTH and that is their twelfth blank to Portsmouth ninth after a goal run of nine games. 

LEAGUE TWO 

In the Play-Offs we now have three of our teams this week and they are EXETER CITY in fifth place after they drew 0-0 at home to SALFORD CITY. Exeter picked up their ninth blank after a goal run of seven games. Salford also picked up their ninth blank score sheet of the season. SWINDON now in sixth place after they won 1-0 at home to Oldham. Swindon are now on a total of 65 goals and have extended their goal run to seven games this week. SUTTON UNITED are down to seventh place as they lose 1-0 away to Walsall to pick up their seventh blank score sheet. 

Meanwhile CARLISLE won 2-1 at home to Northampton and they are on a total of 33 goals. Bottom of the table SCUNTHORPE lost 3-1 at home to Colchester to pick up their 25th goal of the season. STEVENAGE lost 2-0 at home to Newport and that is their seventh blank of the season. 

Our BEST three teams this week are

Our WORST three teams are 

SCUNTHORPE (25) PETERBOROUGH (31) BARNSLEY (31) Total of 87 goals 

SCOTTISH LEAGUES 

In the Scottish Cup Quarter-Finals HEARTS are in the semi-finals after they won 4-2 at home to St Mirren. Hearts are on a total of 61 goals. RANGERS are also through as they win 3-0 away to Dundee to take their goals total up to 78 goals. Rangers have now scored in all of their last eight games.

In League Two KELTY HEARTS remained at the top and now fourteen points in front as they win 3-1 at home against Albion. Kelty have now taken their goals total to 73 goals. STENHOUSEMUIR drew 0-0 at home to Edinburgh City and that is their eighth blank of the season and now two in a row. 

Our on-form team this week are MANCHESTER CITY after scoring in all of their last twenty-one League/Cup games. They have a total of 84 goals. 

Our worst team this week is PETERBOROUGH after they picked up a total of twenty-two blank score sheets out of a total of forty league/cup games. 

Our highest goal scorers in our 39th Season are OXFORD UNITED as they won 7-2 away to Gillingham in the league in Week Twenty-Six. FULHAM have now scored seven goals twice this season. They first won 7-0 away to Blackburn Rovers in the league in Week Fourteen and they have also won 7-0 away to Reading in the league in Week Twenty-Four. MANCHESTER CITY winning 7-0 at home to Leeds Utd in the league in Week Twenty. CHELSEA won 7-0 at home to Norwich in the league in Week Twelve. BRENTFORD won 7-0 at home to Oldham in the third round of the Carabao/League Cup in Week Eight. 

SCOTT THOMSON (2) has now celebrated his third weekend at top after he picked up a total of just 4 goals from the weekend. Scott’s teams are Liverpool, Manchester City and Oxford United. Peter Wellard has moved back into second place this weekend after he picked up a total of 10 goals from the week. His teams are Chelsea, Fulham and Manchester City. 

At the other end at 113 we still have ZIGGY (John Wood) this weekend which is now his twenty-sixth consecutive weekend at the bottom and now twenty-eight over the season. Ziggy picked up just 1 goal this week. His teams are Crystal Palace, Scunthorpe and Stenhousemuir.

The top ten have settled down a bit this weekend but that is mainly due to Manchester City and Celtic not being in action over the weekend.
