Last Games of the FA CUP Fifth Round

 

We have now had the last of the FA CUP fifth round games where we had 7 of out teams in action. Out of them just 3 managed to get to the quarter-finals. The teams that made it through are CHELSEA who won 3-2 at home to LEEDS UNITED. Chelsea have taken their goals total to 64 goals while Leeds are on 76 goals and have extended their goal run to 12 league/cup games. MAMCHESTER UNITED won 1-0 away to NOTTINGHAM FOREST and are on a total of 46 goals and have now scored in all of their last 11 league/cup games. Forest after a goal run of 6 games, picked up their 9th blank of the season. LIVERPOOL won 3-0 at home to SOUTHAMPTON and are now on a total of 87 goals and have a goal run of 16 league/cup games. Southampton after a goal run of 30 games, picked up their 3rd blank of the season. BRIGHTON go out after they picked up their 6th blank of the season after they lost 1-0 away to Wolves. 

In the Scottish Premiership, top of the able RANGERS won 2-1 away to KILMARNOCK and are on a total of 79 goals. Rangers have now scored in all of their last 29 league/cup games. Kilmarnock picked up goal number 47 and have now scored in all of their last 12 league/cup games. Second place CELTIC picked up their biggest win of the season after they won 7-1 at home to Dundee and have taken their goals tally up to 75 and a goal run of 12 league/cup games. ABERDEEN lost 2-0 at home against St Johnston and picked up their 13th blank of the season and now two in a row. HIBERNIAN drew 1-1 away to Hearts and hit goal number 44.

FA CUP Fifth Round

 

In the first Batch of the FA CUP Fifth Round, we had four of our teams in action. Out of them 3 of our Golden Goals teams are through to the quarter-finals.

The teams through are MANCHESTER CITY after they won 6-2 away to Luton. City have taken their goals tally to 71 and have now scored in all of their last 14 league/cup games. LEICESTER CITY won 1-0 away to AFC BOURNEMOUTH after extra time. City are on a total of 82 goals and they have extended their goal run to 21 league/cup games. Bournemouth picked up their 7th blank of the season and now two in a row. NEWCASTLE drew 1-1 away to Blackburn Rovers after extra time and then went on to win 4-3 on penalties. Newcastle are on a total of 65 goals and have extended their goal run to 11 league/cup games. 

In League One DERBY lost 2-1 at home against CHARLTON and they are on a total of 63 goals and have now scored in all of their last 7 league/cup games. Charlton are on a total of 57 goals. BLACKPOOL picked up their 12th blank of the season after they lost 1-0 away to Leyton Orient. 

In League Two WREXHAM picked up their 64th goal of the season after they drew 1-1 away to Forest Green. It’s 50 goals for SUTTON UNITED after they won 4-3 away to NOTTS COUNTY. County have taken their goals total to 74 goals. SALFORD CITY drew 1-1 at home to Colchester and are on a total of 61 goals and have now scored in all of their last 10 league/cup games. 

In the Scottish Premiership ROSS COUNTY drew 1-1 at home against St Mirren and are on a total of 42 goals.

West Ham Hammer Brentford

In the Premier League WEST HAM after they had failed to score in their previous 3 games,  they picked up their biggest result of the season by winning 4-2 at home against Brentford. West Ham have now taken their goals tally up to 46.

Week Thirty

In Week Thirty of the competition we are half-way through the second half of the season and we had just one winner to pick up the full £5 prize money this weekend. Our winner is NORA HAMMOND who won on a total of 12 goals and now becomes our 31st winner of the season.

Nora lives in Canada with the rest of the Hammond family. Nora has picked up a total of 55 goals over the last four weeks and you might be surprised that she has been higher than 9th place. In Week Fifteen, Nora was in 2nd place. She has picked up a total of three blank score sheets to date.  Ipswich is her best team. Nora's winning teams are

100 MIDWEEK GOALS JACKPOT

Most of us have managed to pick up a goal or two again this week and the race for the cash has changed again this week. We can now add another 9 players who are over the half-way mark this week bringing our total to 82. The highest amount of goals collected this week came from our 2012/13 Champion ALICE STUBBS with her second combination with 8 goals. That now gives her second combo a total of 69 midweek goals. Her teams are Leeds Utd, Liverpool and Manchester City.

In first place this week we still have ANN WELLARD but she is now joined with DOUG MORBEY up from third place. Both now with a total of 83 goals, which means they need just 13 goals for the cash. In second place this week we still have TONY KING and joining him we have  MARK JOHNSTON up from third place. Both are on a total of 81 goals. In third place we now have GEOFF CARTHY and PETER PORTER both up from fourth place with  ANDY EYLES up from five. Coming back in we have JOHN FILTNESS and ZIGGY (John Wood) all are on a total of 79 goals. In fourth place we now have GRANT PHILLIPS and JAMES SOMERVILLE both up from sixth place with JAMES BLYTH and BAILEY MORAN both coming back into the race all on a total of 77 goals. In fifth place we now have ANDREW HAMMOND, STUART KEMP (1) and RICHIE WILLIAMS all with a total of 74 goals. 

WEEKEND RESULTS

We had all but four of our teams in action over the weekend and we had 8 teams that failed to score any goals. We had another full fixture this weekend and the goals are still coming in thick and fast. Although the average score for this weekend went down again from six goals from last weekend down to 5 goals this weekend.

The highest score that we had was 6 goals and we had a total of three teams that picked up that score. They came from the Scottish League Two where CLYDE won 6-1 away to top of the table Stenhousemuir. Clyde with their biggest result of the season have now taken their goals tally up to 42. Stenhousemuir are on a total of 47 goals and have now scored in all of their last 17 league/cup games.

Clyde started with Golden Goals back in the 2004/05 Season on where they became the 29th Scottish team to join in. In their first season they finished on a total of 41 goals. Their highest score and the last time that they appeared with us, was in the 2015/16 Season with 60 goals. So this is their 3rd season with us and over the years they have netted a total of 143 goals to date. That now gives them an average score of 47 goals per season. This season they again have just one vote and they have picked up a total of ten blank score sheets. Here are all of the weekends results. 

LEAGUE CUP Final

LIVERPOOL have won the Carabao Cup for the 10th time, after they won 1-0 against CHELSEA in the dying minutes of extra time. Liverpool have taken their goals total of 84 goals and have now scored in all of their last 15 league/cup games. Chelsea picked up their 8th blank score sheet of the season. 

PREMIER LEAGUE

Liverpool have remained top of the table with MANCHESTER CITY back in second place after they won 1-0 away to AFC BOURNEMOUTH. City are on a total of 65 goals and have now scored in all of their last 13 league/cup games. Bournemouth picked up their 6th blank of the season. ARSENAL are in third place after they won 4-1 at home against NEWCASTLE. Arsenal have taken their goals tally up to 64 goals and have extended their goal run to 6 league/cup games.

Newcastle picked up their 64th goal of the season and have now scored in all of their last after a goal run of 10 league/cup games. ASTON VILLA are still in fourth place after they won 4-2 at home to NOTTINGHAM FOREST. Villa are on a total of 59 goals and have now scored in all of their last 6 league/cup games.  Forest are on a total of 40 goals and they have also scored in all of their last 6 league/cup games. BRIGHTON drew 1-1 at home to Everton and they are on a total of 58 goals. CRYSTAL PALACE won 3-0 at home against Burnley and they are now on a total of 35 goals. MANCHESTER UNITED lost 2-1 at home to FULHAM and are on a total of 45 and have now scored in all of their last 10 league/cup games. Fulham are on a total of 46 goals. 

CHAMPIONSHIP

We still have Leicester City at the top here with Leeds United still in second place on goal difference.

In the Play-offs we have two of the four teams with IPSWICH TOWN now in third place after they won 3-1 at home to Birmingham. Ipswich are now on a total of 80 goals and have now scored in all of their last 10 league/cup games. SOUTHAMPTON are in fourth place after they lost 2-1 at home against Millwall and are on a total of 74 goals and have now scored in all of their last 30 league/cup games.

Meanwhile NORWICH drew 1-1 away to Blackburn Rovers and are on a total of 68 goals and have scored in all of their last 6 league/cup games. STOKE lost 2-1 away to Cardiff and are on a total of 41 goals. MIDDLESBROUGH lost 2-0 at home to PLYMOUTH and picked up their 8th blank of the season after a goal run of 8 league/cup games. Plymouth are on a total of 62 goals after they had failed to score in their last 2 games. SHEFFIELD WEDNESDAY won 2-1 at home against BRISTOL CITY and are on a total of 36 goals. City picked up their 47th goal of the season. SUNDERLAND lost 2-1 at home to SWANSEA and are on a total of 47 goals while Swansea are on 50. 

LEAGUE ONE

Our highest team here is still DERBY in second place. They lost 2-1 away to BARNSLEY. Derby are on a total of 62 goals and have now scored in all of their last 6 league/cup games. Barnsley are on 68 goals and have now scored in all of their last 18 league/cup games.

In the Play-offs again we still have two teams and they are Barnsley in fourth place with PETERBOROUGH are still in fifth place after they won 1-0 away to Cambridge Utd and are on 73 goals.

Meanwhile BLACKPOOL won 4-1 at home against Bolton and have taken their goals tally to 65. It’s 60 goals for BRISTOL ROVERS after they won 2-1 at home to Carlisle. CHARLTON drew 0-0 at home to Portsmouth and that is their 9th blank of the season. READING lost 3-2 at home to Shrewsbury and are on a total of 55 goals and have now scored in all of their last 9 league/cup games. 

LEAGUE TWO

In the Play-offs we are back to having two of the four teams. They are WREXHAM now down to fourth place after they lost 1-0 away to Gillingham. Wrexham picked up their 7th blank of the season. MK DONS are still in fifth place after they won 3-0 at home to Newport. The Dons are on a total of 57 goals.

Meanwhile AFC WIMBLEDON lost 1-0 away to Doncaster and picked up their 12th blank of the season and now two in  a row. SUTTON UNITED drew 1-1 at home to Colchester and they are on a total of 46 goals. SALFORD CITY lost 5-1 away to Mansfield. Salford are on a total of 60 goals and have now scored in all of their last 9 league/cup games. NOTTS COUNTY lost 3-1 at home to Crewe and are on a total of 71 goals. 

SCOTTISH RESULTS

In the Premiership RANGERS are still top of the league after they won 5-0 at home to Hearts and are on a total of 77 goals and have extended their goal run to 28 league/cup games. CELTIC in second place scored two very late goals to beat Motherwell 3-1 away.  Celtic are on a total of 68 goals and have now scored in all of their last 11 league/cup games. KILMARNOCK in fourth place won 2-0 at home against ABERDEEN and are on a total of 46 goals and they have now scored in all of their last 11 league/cup games. Aberdeen after they had scored in their last 6 league/cup games, picked up their 12th blank of the season. HIBERNIAN won 2-1 at home against Dundee and are on a total of 43 goals. ROSS COUNTY second from bottom won 3-2 at home to bottom of the table Livingston. County are now on a total of 41 goals. 

In League One top of the table FALKIRK won again 1-0 away to KELTY HEARTS. Falkirk are now on a total of 75 goals and have now scored in all of their last 12 league/cup games. Kelty picked up their 8th blank of the season. COVE RANGERS won 2-1 at home Anna and are on a total of 56 goals. 

In League Two Stenhousemuir are still top of the table even after their biggest defeat of the season. EAST FIFE drew 1-1 at home to Forfar and are on a total of 35 goals.

Our worst performing team is SHEFFIELD WEDNESDAY this week as they have picked up 16 blank score sheets out of their 39 league/cup games. 

Our highest goal scoring teams in our 41st Season are NEWCASTLE UNITED after they won 8-0 away to Sheffield United in Week Eight. BARNSLEY and BRISTOL ROVERS have both pick up our second highest score with 7 goals. Barnsley won 7-0 at home to Port Vale in the first league game of the season in Week One. Bristol Rovers won 7-2 at home to non-league Whitby Town in the first round of the FA CUP in Week Fourteen.

JOHN FILTNESS celebrates his 4th weekend at the top as he picks up a total of 8 goals from the week. He’s teams are Leicester City, Liverpool and Manchester City. Tim Wood moves in to second place this weekend as he picked up a total of 14 goals this week. Tim is now 5 goals behind John. Tim's teams are Arsenal, Liverpool and Rangers.

At the other end at 110 we have CHARLIE FARLEY (John Wood) for his 11th consecutive weekend. John picked up 6 goals this weekend. John has Kilmarnock, Ross County and Stenhousemuir. We have some good news for John in that he has started to climb up our “Losers League”. He is now in 40th place beating John Nicholls finished score of 131 goals in the 2020/21 Season.

Manchester City Second

In the Premier League MANCHESTER CITY have moved up to second place after they won 1-0 at home against Brentford. City are on a total of 64 goals and have now scored in all of their last 12 league/cup games. 

In the Championship IPSWICH TOWN moved in to third place after they won 4-3 at home to bottom of the league Rotherham. Ipswich have taken their goals total to 77 goals and have extended their goal run to 9 league/cup games. SOUTHAMPTON lost 2-1 at home to Hull and are on a total of 73 goals and have taken their goal run to 29 league/cup games. PLYMOUTH lost 3-0 at home to West Brom and picked up their 8th blank of the season and now two in a row. 

In League One READING won 2-0 at home against Port Vale. Reading are on a total of 53 goals and have now scored in all of their last 8 league/cup games. 

In League Two WREXHAM in third place drew 1-1 away to MK DONS and are on a total of 63 goals. The Dons are on 54 goals. AFC WIMBLEDON lost 1-0 at home to Crawley and that is their 11th blank of the season.

Week Twenty-Nine

In Week Twenty-Nine of the competition we had just one winner to pick up the full £5 prize money this weekend. EAST FIFE won 2-0 away to Bonnyrigg Rose and are on a total of 34 goals. CLYDE won their third league game 2-0 at home against Dumbarton.  Clyde are on a total of 36 goals but they are still bottom of the league.

Bristol Rovers won 7-2 at home to non-league Whitby Town in the first round of the FA CUP in Week Fourteen.

JOHN FILTNESS celebrates his third weekend at the top as he picks up a total of 8 goals from the week. He’s teams are Leicester City, Liverpool and Manchester City. James Somerville is still in second place this weekend as he picked up a total of just 5 goals this week. James is now 5 goals behind John. James teams are Celtic, Leicester City and Peterborough.

At the other end at 110 we have CHARLIE FARLEY (John Wood) for his tenth consecutive weekend. John picked up another 4 goals this weekend. John has Kilmarnock, Ross County and Stenhousemuir.

Southampton Back to Second Place

In the Championship SOUTHAMPTON are back up to second place after they won 2-0 away to West Brom. Southampton are on a total of 72 goals and they have now scored in all of their last 28 league/cup games.

Celtic or Rangers as Champions?

In the Championship IPSWICH TOWN are still in fourth place after they won 4-0 away to Millwall and have taken their goals tally to 71 goals and have now scored in all of their last 7 league/cup games. It’s 60 goals for PLYMOUTH after they drew 2-2 at home against Coventry.  Plymouth have now scored in all of their last 13 league/cup games. SUNDERLAND lost 1-0 away to Huddersfield and picked up their 11th blank of the season. MIDDLESBROUGH lost 2-1 away to Preston ans that is goal number 61 for them. Brough have now scored in all of their last 7 league/cup games. It’s 40 goals for STOKE after they won 1-0 at home against QPR. 

In the Scottish Premiership RANGERS won 3-1 at home to ROSS COUNTY to go joint top with Celtic. Rangers have now scored a total of 69 goals and now have a goal run of 26 league/cup games. County after they had failed to score in their last two games, picked up goal number 38. ABERDEEN drew 3-3 at home to Motherwell and they have taken their goals total to 38 goals.

Leicester 12 pts Lead Over Leeds

In the Championship top of the table LEICESTER CITY won 2-0 at home against SHEFFIELD WEDNESDAY. City are on a total of 79 goals and have now scored in all of their last 18 league/cup games. Wednesday picked up their 16th blank of the season. LEEDS UNITED have moved up to second place after they won 4-0 away to SWANSEA CITY. Leeds have taken their goals total to 69 and have now scored in all of their last 9 league/cup games. Swansea picked up their 7th blank of the season.  It’s 70 goals for SOUTHAMPTON after they lost 3-1 away to BRISTOL CITY. Southampton have extended their goal run to 27 league/cup games. City have taken their goals total to 46. NORWICH won 4-2 at home against Watford and have taken their goals tally up to 63 goals. 

In League One it’s 60 goals for DERBY in second play after they won 3-0 away to Exeter. After they had failed to score in their last two games, CHARLTON are on a total of 52 goals after they drew 1-1 at home to Lincoln City. BLACKPOOL lost 2-0 away to Cheltenham and that is their 11th blank of the season. It’s 50 goals for READING after they drew 1-1 away to Fleetwood. BARNSLEY drew 1-1 away to Shrewsbury and they are on a total of 64 goals and they have now scored in all of their last 16 league/cup games. BRISTOL ROVERS won 3-2 away to Stevenage and are now on a total of 57 goals. 

In League Two AFC WIMBLEDON lost 2-0 away to Accrington and picked up their 10th blank of the season. It’s now eight blank score sheets for MK DONS after they lost 4-0 away to Bradford City. It’s 70 goals for NOTTS COUNTY after they won 3-1 away to Newport. SALFORD CITY drew 2-2 at home against Doncaster. SUTTON UNITED lost 2-1 at home to WREXHAM and are on a total of 45 goals while Wrexham are on 61 goals.

In the Premier League CRYSTAL PALCE lost 3-1 at home against CHELSEA and are on a total of 31 goals. Chelsea are now on a total of 60 goals.

Week Twenty-Eight

In Week Twenty-Eight of the competition we had another two winners to share the £5 weekend prize money. Both of our winners have picked up their second win of the season, our winners total stands at 30. Our winners are MANGO (Paul Moran) and our 2002/03 Champion MIKE PEPPERRELL both winning on a total of 13 goals, which is both their personal best weekend score. 

Mango, Paul, first won in Week Twenty-Five and that was also a shared win. Although Paul has jumped up to 38th place this weekend, 14th place in Week Two is still his best position to date.

Mike last won some cash in Week Twenty, once again although he has moved up to 43rd place, Week Five saw him at his highest in 36th place to date. Our winners teams are once again

100 MIDWEEK GOALS JACKPOT

Most of us have managed to pick up a goal or two this week and the race for the cash has changed once again this week. We can now add another 13 players who are over the half-way mark this week bringing our total to 67. In first place this week we now have ANN WELLARD up from second place with a total of 76 goals. Ann’s teams are Barnsley, Chelsea and Rangers. In second place we now have last weeks leader PETER PORTER with TONY KING up from four. Both are on a total of 75 goals. In third place both down from second place we have ANDY EYLES and JAMES SOMERVILLE and up from five MARK JOHNSTON all on a total of 74 goals. In fourth place we still have BAILEY MORAN he is now joined with GEOFF CARTHY down from three and DOUG MORBEY up from five. All are on a total of 73 goals. In fifth place we still have JOHN FILTNESS but he is now joined with MARK GREGORY and GRANT PHILLIPS both down from four. All three are on a total of 71 goals. In sixth place we still have JAMES BLYTH and our 2017/18 Champion CHRIS BOLBERY  both with a total of 70 goals. 

WEEKEND RESULTS

We had all but six of our teams in action over the weekend and we had just 7 teams failed to score any goals. It was once again a full fixture this weekend and with some high scoring games. The average score for this weekend went up from five goals from last weekend back up to 7 goals this weekend.

The highest score that we had came from the Premier League with 6 goals where ARSENAL beat London rivals WEST HAM 6-0 away. With their biggest result of the season, Arsenal have taken their goals tally up to 55 goals while West Ham picked up their 6th blank of the season and now two in a row.

Arsenal joined Golden Goals in our second season of 1984/85. They became our 26th English team and ended the season with a total of 75 goals. Their highest score came in the 2003/04 Season with 103 goals. Last season they finished with a total of 92 goals. This is their 39th Season with us and over the years they have netted a total of 3198 goals. That gives them an average score of 82 goals per season to date. This season they have a total of 37 votes and they have picked up just four blank score sheets. Here are all of the weekends results.

LIVERPOOL have remained top of the table, after they won 3-1 at home to Burnley and are now on a total of 75 goals and have now scored in all of their last 12 league/cup games. In second place we now have MANCHESTER CITY after they won 2-0 at home to Everton. City are on a total of 62 goals and have now scored in all of their last 10 league/cup games. With Arsenal in third place TOTTENHAM are in fourth place after they won 2-1 at home to BRIGHTON. Tottenham are on a total of 53 goals while Brighton are on 52 goals. FULHAM won 3-1 at home to BOURNEMOUTH and are on a total of 43 goals while Bournemouth are on 45. NOTTINGHAM FOREST lost 3-2 at home to NEWCASTLE and are on a total of 36 goals. Newcastle have taken their goals tally up to 61 goals and have now scored in all of their last 8 league/cup games. ASTON VILLA lost 2-1 at home to MANCHESTER UNITED and picked up goal number 53. United are on 42 and have now scored in all of their last 8 league/cup games.

CHAMPIONSHIP

We still have LEICESTER CITY at the top here after they won 2-1 away to Watford and they are on a total of 77 and have now scored in all of their last 17 league/cup games. SOUTHAMPTON are still in second place after they won 5-3 at home to Huddersfield. Southampton have taken their goals tally up to 69 goals and have extended their goal run to 26 league/cup games.

In the Play-offs in third place we still have LEEDS UNITED after they won 3-0 at home against bottom of the table Rotherham. Leeds are now on a total of 65 goals and have now scored in all of their last 8 league/cup games. IPSWICH TOWN are still in fourth place after they drew 2-2 at home to West Brom. Ipswich are on a total of 67 goals and have now scored in all of their last 6 league/cup games.

Meanwhile STOKE lost 3-1 away to Blackburn Rovers and are on a total of 39 goals. SWANSEA won 1-0 away to Hull and picked up goal number 47. MIDDLESBROUGH lost 2-1 at home to BRISTOL CITY and are on a total of 60 goals while City are on 43 goals. NORWICH drew 2-2 away to QPR and are on 59 goals. Our highest team here is still DERBY in second place after they drew 1-1 at home to Shrewsbury. Derby are on a total of 57 goals.

Meanwhile BLACKPOOL drew 1-1 at home to Oxford Utd and are on a total of 59 goals. BRISTOL ROVERS lost 2-1 at home to Burton and they are on a total of 54 goals. READING won 2-0 at home to CHARLTON and are on a total of 49 goals while Charlton picked up their 8th blank score sheet and now two in a row.

LEAGUE TWO

In the Play-offs we are back to  two of the four teams. They are WREXHAM now in fifth place after they lost 1-0 at home to Bradford City. Wrexham picked up their 6th blank of the season. MK DONS are still in sixth place after they won 2-1 at home to Accrington. The Dons are on a total of 51 goals.

Meanwhile it’s 60 goals for AFC WIMBLEDON after they won 2-0 at home to Barrow. After a goal run to 7 league/cup games, SUTTON UNITED lost 1-0 away to Morecambe and picked up their 9th blank of the season. SALFORD CITY drew 1-1 away to Swindon and are on a total of 52 goals and have now scored in all of their last 6 league/cup games.

SCOTTISH RESULTS

SCOTTISH CUP Fifth Round. We had 6 of our teams in action and out of them 5 have made it through to the next round. Teams through are ABERDEEN after they won 2-0 at home against Bonnyrigg Rose and are on a total of 35 goals. HIBERNIAN won 3-1 away to Inverness CT and are now on a total of 39 goals. KILMARNOCK won 2-0 at home against COVE RANGERS and are on a total of 43 goals and have now scored in all of their last 9 league/cup games. Rangers picked up their 7th blank of the season. RANGERS won 2-0 at home to Ayr Utd and are on a total of 66 goals and have extended their goal run to 25 league/cup games. CELTIC won 2-0 away to St Mirren and are on a total of 64 goals and have now scored in all of their last 9 league/cup games.

In League One top of the table Falkirk had no game again this week. So the only team to play here are KELTY HEARTS who drew 0-0 at home to Queen of the South. Kelty have now had a total of seven blank score sheets.

In League Two top of the table STENHOUSEMUIR drew 1-1 away to EAST FIFE and hit goal number 44 and have now scored in all of their last 15 league/cup games. Fife after they had failed to score in their last two games, they picked up goal number 32. CLYDE lost 2-1 away to Stranraer and picked up their 9th blank of the season and they are still rooted to the bottom of the league.
