Week Thirty

In Week Thirty of the competition we are half-way through the second half of the season and we had just one winner to pick up the full £5 prize money this weekend. Our winner is NORA HAMMOND who won on a total of 12 goals and now becomes our 31st winner of the season.

Nora lives in Canada with the rest of the Hammond family. Nora has picked up a total of 55 goals over the last four weeks and you might be surprised that she has been higher than 9th place. In Week Fifteen, Nora was in 2nd place. She has picked up a total of three blank score sheets to date.  Ipswich is her best team. Nora's winning teams are

100 MIDWEEK GOALS JACKPOT

Most of us have managed to pick up a goal or two again this week and the race for the cash has changed again this week. We can now add another 9 players who are over the half-way mark this week bringing our total to 82. The highest amount of goals collected this week came from our 2012/13 Champion ALICE STUBBS with her second combination with 8 goals. That now gives her second combo a total of 69 midweek goals. Her teams are Leeds Utd, Liverpool and Manchester City.

In first place this week we still have ANN WELLARD but she is now joined with DOUG MORBEY up from third place. Both now with a total of 83 goals, which means they need just 13 goals for the cash. In second place this week we still have TONY KING and joining him we have  MARK JOHNSTON up from third place. Both are on a total of 81 goals. In third place we now have GEOFF CARTHY and PETER PORTER both up from fourth place with  ANDY EYLES up from five. Coming back in we have JOHN FILTNESS and ZIGGY (John Wood) all are on a total of 79 goals. In fourth place we now have GRANT PHILLIPS and JAMES SOMERVILLE both up from sixth place with JAMES BLYTH and BAILEY MORAN both coming back into the race all on a total of 77 goals. In fifth place we now have ANDREW HAMMOND, STUART KEMP (1) and RICHIE WILLIAMS all with a total of 74 goals. 

WEEKEND RESULTS

We had all but four of our teams in action over the weekend and we had 8 teams that failed to score any goals. We had another full fixture this weekend and the goals are still coming in thick and fast. Although the average score for this weekend went down again from six goals from last weekend down to 5 goals this weekend.

The highest score that we had was 6 goals and we had a total of three teams that picked up that score. They came from the Scottish League Two where CLYDE won 6-1 away to top of the table Stenhousemuir. Clyde with their biggest result of the season have now taken their goals tally up to 42. Stenhousemuir are on a total of 47 goals and have now scored in all of their last 17 league/cup games.

Clyde started with Golden Goals back in the 2004/05 Season on where they became the 29th Scottish team to join in. In their first season they finished on a total of 41 goals. Their highest score and the last time that they appeared with us, was in the 2015/16 Season with 60 goals. So this is their 3rd season with us and over the years they have netted a total of 143 goals to date. That now gives them an average score of 47 goals per season. This season they again have just one vote and they have picked up a total of ten blank score sheets. Here are all of the weekends results. 

LEAGUE CUP Final

LIVERPOOL have won the Carabao Cup for the 10th time, after they won 1-0 against CHELSEA in the dying minutes of extra time. Liverpool have taken their goals total of 84 goals and have now scored in all of their last 15 league/cup games. Chelsea picked up their 8th blank score sheet of the season. 

PREMIER LEAGUE

Liverpool have remained top of the table with MANCHESTER CITY back in second place after they won 1-0 away to AFC BOURNEMOUTH. City are on a total of 65 goals and have now scored in all of their last 13 league/cup games. Bournemouth picked up their 6th blank of the season. ARSENAL are in third place after they won 4-1 at home against NEWCASTLE. Arsenal have taken their goals tally up to 64 goals and have extended their goal run to 6 league/cup games.

Newcastle picked up their 64th goal of the season and have now scored in all of their last after a goal run of 10 league/cup games. ASTON VILLA are still in fourth place after they won 4-2 at home to NOTTINGHAM FOREST. Villa are on a total of 59 goals and have now scored in all of their last 6 league/cup games.  Forest are on a total of 40 goals and they have also scored in all of their last 6 league/cup games. BRIGHTON drew 1-1 at home to Everton and they are on a total of 58 goals. CRYSTAL PALACE won 3-0 at home against Burnley and they are now on a total of 35 goals. MANCHESTER UNITED lost 2-1 at home to FULHAM and are on a total of 45 and have now scored in all of their last 10 league/cup games. Fulham are on a total of 46 goals. 

CHAMPIONSHIP

We still have Leicester City at the top here with Leeds United still in second place on goal difference.

In the Play-offs we have two of the four teams with IPSWICH TOWN now in third place after they won 3-1 at home to Birmingham. Ipswich are now on a total of 80 goals and have now scored in all of their last 10 league/cup games. SOUTHAMPTON are in fourth place after they lost 2-1 at home against Millwall and are on a total of 74 goals and have now scored in all of their last 30 league/cup games.

Meanwhile NORWICH drew 1-1 away to Blackburn Rovers and are on a total of 68 goals and have scored in all of their last 6 league/cup games. STOKE lost 2-1 away to Cardiff and are on a total of 41 goals. MIDDLESBROUGH lost 2-0 at home to PLYMOUTH and picked up their 8th blank of the season after a goal run of 8 league/cup games. Plymouth are on a total of 62 goals after they had failed to score in their last 2 games. SHEFFIELD WEDNESDAY won 2-1 at home against BRISTOL CITY and are on a total of 36 goals. City picked up their 47th goal of the season. SUNDERLAND lost 2-1 at home to SWANSEA and are on a total of 47 goals while Swansea are on 50. 

LEAGUE ONE

Our highest team here is still DERBY in second place. They lost 2-1 away to BARNSLEY. Derby are on a total of 62 goals and have now scored in all of their last 6 league/cup games. Barnsley are on 68 goals and have now scored in all of their last 18 league/cup games.

In the Play-offs again we still have two teams and they are Barnsley in fourth place with PETERBOROUGH are still in fifth place after they won 1-0 away to Cambridge Utd and are on 73 goals.

Meanwhile BLACKPOOL won 4-1 at home against Bolton and have taken their goals tally to 65. It’s 60 goals for BRISTOL ROVERS after they won 2-1 at home to Carlisle. CHARLTON drew 0-0 at home to Portsmouth and that is their 9th blank of the season. READING lost 3-2 at home to Shrewsbury and are on a total of 55 goals and have now scored in all of their last 9 league/cup games. 

LEAGUE TWO

In the Play-offs we are back to having two of the four teams. They are WREXHAM now down to fourth place after they lost 1-0 away to Gillingham. Wrexham picked up their 7th blank of the season. MK DONS are still in fifth place after they won 3-0 at home to Newport. The Dons are on a total of 57 goals.

Meanwhile AFC WIMBLEDON lost 1-0 away to Doncaster and picked up their 12th blank of the season and now two in  a row. SUTTON UNITED drew 1-1 at home to Colchester and they are on a total of 46 goals. SALFORD CITY lost 5-1 away to Mansfield. Salford are on a total of 60 goals and have now scored in all of their last 9 league/cup games. NOTTS COUNTY lost 3-1 at home to Crewe and are on a total of 71 goals. 

SCOTTISH RESULTS

In the Premiership RANGERS are still top of the league after they won 5-0 at home to Hearts and are on a total of 77 goals and have extended their goal run to 28 league/cup games. CELTIC in second place scored two very late goals to beat Motherwell 3-1 away.  Celtic are on a total of 68 goals and have now scored in all of their last 11 league/cup games. KILMARNOCK in fourth place won 2-0 at home against ABERDEEN and are on a total of 46 goals and they have now scored in all of their last 11 league/cup games. Aberdeen after they had scored in their last 6 league/cup games, picked up their 12th blank of the season. HIBERNIAN won 2-1 at home against Dundee and are on a total of 43 goals. ROSS COUNTY second from bottom won 3-2 at home to bottom of the table Livingston. County are now on a total of 41 goals. 

In League One top of the table FALKIRK won again 1-0 away to KELTY HEARTS. Falkirk are now on a total of 75 goals and have now scored in all of their last 12 league/cup games. Kelty picked up their 8th blank of the season. COVE RANGERS won 2-1 at home Anna and are on a total of 56 goals. 

In League Two Stenhousemuir are still top of the table even after their biggest defeat of the season. EAST FIFE drew 1-1 at home to Forfar and are on a total of 35 goals. 

Our BEST three teams this week

Our WORST three teams are 

EAST FIFE (35) CRYSTAL PALACE (35) SHEFFIELD WEDNESDAY (36) Total of 106 goals 

Our Best performing team are still SOUTHAMPTON after they have now scored in all of their last 30 league/cup games. They have a total of 74 goals which gives them an average score of 2 goals per game. 

Our worst performing team is SHEFFIELD WEDNESDAY this week as they have picked up 16 blank score sheets out of their 39 league/cup games. 

Our highest goal scoring teams in our 41st Season are NEWCASTLE UNITED after they won 8-0 away to Sheffield United in Week Eight. BARNSLEY and BRISTOL ROVERS have both pick up our second highest score with 7 goals. Barnsley won 7-0 at home to Port Vale in the first league game of the season in Week One. Bristol Rovers won 7-2 at home to non-league Whitby Town in the first round of the FA CUP in Week Fourteen.

JOHN FILTNESS celebrates his 4th weekend at the top as he picks up a total of 8 goals from the week. He’s teams are Leicester City, Liverpool and Manchester City. Tim Wood moves in to second place this weekend as he picked up a total of 14 goals this week. Tim is now 5 goals behind John. Tim's teams are Arsenal, Liverpool and Rangers.

At the other end at 110 we have CHARLIE FARLEY (John Wood) for his 11th consecutive weekend. John picked up 6 goals this weekend. John has Kilmarnock, Ross County and Stenhousemuir. We have some good news for John in that he has started to climb up our “Losers League”. He is now in 40th place beating John Nicholls finished score of 131 goals in the 2020/21 Season.
