Week Twenty-Seven

In Week Twenty-Seven of the competition we had two winners to share the full £5 weekend prize money. The good news is that both are first time winners which now brings our winners total to 30. Our winners are CLARA STEPHENS and RICHIE WILLIAMS both winning on a total of 11 goals, which is both their personal best weekend score.

Clara first started with Golden Goals in our 2020/21 Season on where she finished in 34th place with a total of 267 goals. Last season she finished in 32nd place with 280 goals. Clara has been as high as 11th place in Week-Thirteen and has picked up just three blank weekend score sheets.

Richie is in his very first season with us and has not had the best of starts. The highest that Richie has been is in 37th place in Week-Twelve. He has also picked up just three bank weekend score sheets. Our winners teams are

100 MIDWEEK GOALS JACKPOT

Most of us have managed to pick up more goal this week and the race for the cash has changed again this week. We can now add another 21 players who are over the half-way mark this week bringing our total to 54. It was our 1994/95 Champion GEOFF DOCKERILL that picked up the most amount of midweek goals with 11 goals. They came from Liverpool, Manchester City and Manchester United. He is now on a total of 49 midweek goals.

In first place this week we still have PETER PORTER with a total of 73 goals. In second place we now have ANN WELLARD down from one, ANDY EYLES up from five and JAMES SOMERVILLE up from three. All are on a total of 71 goals. In third place with 70 goals we have GEOFF CARTHY up from four. In fourth place we now have GRANT PHILLIPS who has remained there but he is now joined with MARK GREGORY down from two, TONY KING down from three. We also have STUART KEMP (1) and BAILEY MORAN all on a total of 69 goals. In fifth place we have JOHN FILTNESS, MARK JOHNSTON, STUART KEMP (2) and DOUG MORBEY all with a total of 68 goals. In sixth place we still have our 2017/18 Champion CHRIS BOLBERY and now joining him we have JAMES BLYTH and ZIGGY all with a total of 67 goals. 

WEEKEND RESULTS

We had all but four of our teams in action over the weekend and we had 12 teams failed to score any goals. It was great to have a full fixture back this weekend and we had our top teams back in action and scoring high. The average score for this weekend went up from four goals from last weekend back to 5 goals this weekend. The highest score that we had came from two of our teams with 5 goals each. They are ASTON VILLA and LEICESTER CITY. Here are all of the weekends results. 

PREMIER LEAGUE

LIVERPOOL have remained top of the table, after they lost their second league game 3-1 away to ARSENAL. Liverpool are on a total of 72 goals and have now scored in all of their last 11 league/cup games. Arsenal are now on a total of 49 goals. Manchester City had no game this weekend and are down to third place. TOTTENHAM drew 2-2 away to Everton and are on a total of 51 goals. BRIGHTON won 4-1 at home to CRYSTAL PALACE and are have taken their goal total to 51 goals. Palace are on 30 goals. After they had failed to score in their last two games, FULHAM drew 2-2 away to Burnley and are on a total of 40 goals. NEWCASTLE drew 4-4 at home to Luton and have taken their goals tally up to 58 goals and have now scored in all of their last 7 league/cup games. ASTON VILLA won 5-0 away to bottom of the table Sheffield United. Villa have taken their goals total to 51. BOUNEMOUTH drew 1-1 at home against NOTTINGHAM FOREST and are on a total of 44 goals. Forest are on 33 goals. CHELSEA lost 4-2 at home to Wolves and are on 54 goals. It’s 40 goals for MANCHESTER UNITED after they won 3-0 at home to WEST HAM. West Ham picked up their 5th blank of the season.  

CHAMPIONSHIP

We still have LEICESTER CITY at the top here after they won 5-0 away to STOKE CITY. With their biggest result of the season, Leicester have now taken their goals total to 75 and have now scored in all of their last 16 league/cup games. Stoke picked up their 14th blank of the season. SOUTHAMPTON are now in second place after they won 2-0 to bottom of the table Rotherham. Southampton are on 61 goals and have extended their goal run to 24 league/cup games.

In the Play-offs we have Leeds United in third place with IPSWICH TOWN down to fourth place. They lost 3-2 away to Preston. Ipswich are on a total of 65 goals.

Meanwhile SHEFFIELD WEDNESDAY picked up their 15th blank of the season after they lost 4-0 away to Huddersfield. NORWICH won 2-1 at home against Coventry and are on a total of 57 goals. SWANSEA lost 1-0 at home to PLYMOUTH and picked up their 6th blank of the season. Plymouth hit goal number 56 and have now scored in all of their last 10 league/cup games. MIDDLESBROUGH drew 1-1 at home to SUNDERLAND and are on 59 goals while Sunderland are on 42 goals. 

LEAGUE ONE

Our highest team here are DERBY now in second place after they won 1-0 away to CHARLTON. Derby are on a total of 56 goals while Charlton picked up their 7th blank of the season.

In the Play-offs we still have two teams and they are PETERBOROUGH in fourth place after they lost 3-2 at home to Wigan. Borough are on 68 goals. BARNSLEY are still in fifth place after they drew 1-1 away to Bolton. Barnsley are on a total of 61 goals and have now scored in all of their last 14 league/cup games.  

Meanwhile READING drew 1-1 away to Oxford Utd and are on a total of 46 goals. BRISTOL ROVERS won 1-0 away to Exeter and they are on a total of 53 goals. BLACKPOOL lost 1-0 away to Stevenage and  picked up their 10th blank of the season after a goal run of 6 games. 

LEAGUE TWO

In the Play-offs we now have three of the four teams. They are WREXHAM now in third place after they lost 3-1 away to SALFORD CITY. Wrexham are on a total of 59 goals while Salford take their goals tally to 51 goals. MK DONS are still in sixth place after they lost 1-0 away to Barrow. The Dons picked up their 7th blank of the season. NOTTS COUNTY are still in seventh place after they lost 1-0 away to Mansfield. County picked up their 5th blank of the season after they had scored in all of their last 12 league/cup games.

Meanwhile AFC WIMBLEDON drew 0-0 away to Bradford and that is their 9th blank of the season. SUTTON UNITED drew 1-1 at home to Doncaster and are on a total of 44 goals and have extended their goal run to 7 league/cup games. 

SCOTTISH RESULTS

In the Premiership leaders CELTIC drew 1-1 away to Aberdeen and are on a total of 60 goals and they have now scored in all of their last 7 league/cup games. Aberdeen are on 32 goals. Second place RANGERS won 3-0 at home to Livingston and are now on 62 goals and have extended their goal run to 23 league/cup games. HIBNERNIAN lost 3-0 at home to St Mirren and that is their 8th blank of the season. It’s 40 goals for KILMARNOCK after they drew 1-1 away to Motherwell. Kilmarnock have now scored in all of their last 7 league/cup games. ROSS COUNTY lost 1-0 at home to St Johnston and picked up their 13th blank of the season and have now scored just 2 goals in their last 5 games. 

In League One top of the table Falkirk had no game this week. COVE RANGERS drew 2-2 away to Stirling and they are on a total of 53 goals. After they failed to score in their last two games, KELTY HEARTS won 3-0 away to Edinburgh City and are now on a total of 43 goals. 

In League Two top of the table STENHOUSEMUIR won 1-0 at home to Dumbarton and hit goal number 43 and have now scored in all of their last 14 league/cup games. EAST FIFE lost 1-0 away to Elgin City and picked up their 13th blank of the season and now two in a row. CLYDE drew 1-1 at home to second place Peterhead and are on a total of 34 goals and they are still bottom of the league. 

Our BEST three teams this week

Our WORST three teams are 

SHEFFIELD WEDNESDAY (29) CRYSTAL PALACE (30) EAST FIFE (31) Total of 90 goals 

Our Best performing team are now SOUTHAMPTON after they have now scored in all of their last 24 league/cup games. They have a total of 61 goals which gives them an average score of 1.9 goals per game. 

Our worst performing team is SHEFFIELD WEDNESDAY this week as they have picked up 15 blank score sheets out of their 34 league/cup games. 

Our highest goal scoring teams in our 41st Season are NEWCASTLE UNITED after they won 8-0 away to Sheffield United in Week Eight. BARNSLEY and BRISTOL ROVERS have both pick up our second highest score with 7 goals. Barnsley won 7-0 at home to Port Vale in the first league game of the season in Week One. Bristol Rovers won 7-2 at home to non-league Whitby Town in the first round of the FA CUP in Week Fourteen. 

JOHN FILTNESS becomes our 8th player to reach the top this season as he picks up a total of 16 goals from the week. He’s teams are Leicester City, Liverpool and Manchester City. James Somerville has moved back down to second place this weekend as he picked up a total of 11 goals this week. James is just 1 goal behind John. James teams are once again Celtic, Leicester City and Peterborough.

At the other end at 110 we still have CHARLIE FARLEY (John Wood) for his  eighth weekend. John picked up another 4 goals this weekend. John has Kilmarnock, Ross County and Stenhousemuir.

Back to a full league fixture this weekend and there are changes in our top ten this week.
