Liverpool Gain Point

In the English Premiership, LIVERPOOL drew 1-1 at home to LEICESTER CITY and are now five points clear of Manchester City in second place. The single goal takes Liverpool’s goals total to 57 and have now scored in all of their last seventeen games. Leicester picked up goal number 36. CHELSEA have picked up their seventh blank score sheet of the season as they lost 4-0 away to BOURNEMOUTH who are now on 46 goals. TOTTENHAM are now on 66 goals as they win 2-1 at home to Watford.

In the WILLIAM HILL CUP fourth round, RANGERS are through to the next round as they beat Cowdenbeath 3-1 away. Rangers are now on 57 goals.

In the Scottish Premiership, CELTIC won 2-0 at home against St Johnstone and they are now on a total of 66 goals.

City Lose Ground on Liverpool

We had a total of twenty-three of our Golden Goals teams in action last night and only two failed to score any goals.
In the English Premiership, MANCHESTER CITY failed to catch up on Liverpool at the top as they went a goal up in the first half against Newcastle to only lose their fourth league game of the season 2-1 at full time. The single goal gives City a total of 91 goals and a goal run of thirteen games. ARSENAL won 2-1 at home against Cardiff and they are now on a total of 59 goals. FULHAM won 4-2 at home to Brighton and they are now on 41 goals while EVERTON won 1-0 away to Huddersfield to pick up goal number 43. MANCHESTER UNITED after going 2-0 down against Burnley with nine minutes to go, they came back to draw 2-2. United have taken their goals tally up to 55. WOLVES are now on 36 goals as they beat WEST HAM 3-0 at home. West Ham have now had ten blank score sheets this season.

In the Championship, SWANSEA drew 3-3 at home to BIRMINGHAM. Swansea are now on 47 goals while Birmingham are on 43.

In League One, WYCOMBE drew 2-2 away to Blackpool and they are now on 47 goals. SHREWSBURY are now on 44 as they lost 4-3 away to Bradford. BRISTOL ROVERS drew 2-2 at home to PETERBOROUGH and they are now on a total of 32 while Borough are on 58. ACCRINGTON STANLEY picked up their eleventh blank score sheet and now four in  a row after they drew 0-0 away to Gillingham. Accrington have now scored just one goal in their last seven games. LUTON won 3-2 at home to PORTSMOUTH and they are now on 61 goals to Portsmouth’s 57. It’s 60 goals for BARNSLEY as they drew 2-2 away to Oxford Utd.

In League Two, MANSFIELD drew 1-1 away to Forest Green and that is their 53rd goal of the season. MK DONS won 2-1 at home to OLDHAM and they are now on 50 goals to Oldham's 49.

In the Scottish WILLIAM HILL CUP, ABERDEEN won their fourth round replay 4-1 away to STENHOUSEMUIR and they have taken their goals tally to 47 while Stenhousemuir hit goal number 32.

In the Scottish Championship, AYR UNITED lost 3-2 at home to Inverness CT and they are now on a total of 55 goals.

FA Cup Fourth Round

In the last game in the FA CUP fourth round, BRENTFORD drew 3-3 away to non-league Barnet. Brentford are now on a total of 53 goals and the replay is on 5th February which now means that we still have five Golden Goals teams in replays.

Week Twenty-Six

In Week Twenty-Six of the competition we had our twenty-eighth winner of the season and that goes to our 1994/95 Champion GEOFF DOCKERILL on a score of  12 goals to pick up the full weekend jackpot of £6.
Geoff has been with us since our 1990/91 Season on where he finished in 30th place out of 52 and with a total of 232 goals. It was not till 1994/95 that he won the season with a total of 274 goals which keeps him in 33rd place in our Champions League. Last season, Geoff finished in 60th place out of 149 with a total of 277 goals. This season he has been as high as 25th place in Week One and this win has moved him up to his highest since then. He has picked up three blank score sheets so far and like most of you, Manchester City is his best team.

100 MIDWEEK GOALS JACKPOT
All but four of us managed to pick up some goals in midweek this week. The highest score that we had was with ten goals and they all went to SARAH MARSHALL who had Aberdeen, Celtic and Manchester United.
So the race for the cash has changed a little bit this week. Last week we had sixty-five players with 50 or more midweek goals and this week it has moved to eighty-seven.
JUNE TIGHE is joined with GRAHAM HARRIS this week as they are now both on a total of 79 goals. June has Derby, Manchester City and Tottenham while Graham has Hearts, Tottenham and West Brom. In second place and six goals behind our two leaders is JAMIE WOOD up from fourth place with 73 goals. In joint third place with a total of 72 goals we have up from fourth place both DANNY HARRINGTON and ANN WELLARD. In fourth place down from three on 71 goals we have KAREN SMITH. In joint fifth place all on 69 goals we have PHIL COLLINS and MICHAEL FISHER down from fourth place but also coming back in the race is SCOTT CLARK and KELLIE STRATTON.  

WEEKEND RESULTS
This weekend the average score fell down from seven goals from last weekend to 6 goals this weekend. We had five players that failed to pick up any goals this week. The reason for a low score this weekend is that we had twelve teams without a game over the weekend and we then had another sixteen teams that failed to score any goals. We did not once again have any really high scores this weekend but MANCHESTER CITY picked up the most as they won 5-0 at home against Burnley in the FA CUP Fourth Round. As City walked through to the next round of the cup, they are now on a total of 90 goals and they have now scored in all of their last twelve games.

FA CUP Fourth Round
We had thirteen of our teams in cup action and out of them only four have made it through to th next round but we do have another four that are involved in replays.
From Friday night we had Manchester United that are already through with their win against Arsenal and we now know that Manchester City will be joining them. CHELSEA will also be in the draw as they win 3-0 at home against Sheffield Wednesday. Chelsea are now on a total of 53 goals. DERBY won 1-0 away to  ACCRINGTON STANLEY and that was their 55th goal of the season while Accrington picked up their tenth blank of the season and now three in a row. They have also scored just one goal in their last six games. SWANSEA won 4-1 at home against Gillingham and that takes their goal tally up to 44.
Teams in replays are WEST BROM who drew 0-0 away to Brighton which ends their thirteen game goal run to pick up their fifth blank of the season. PORTSMOUTH drew 1-1 at home to Queens Park Rangers and that is their 55th goal. SHREWSBURY after going two goals up, drew 2-2 at home to WOLVES. Shrewsbury are now on a total of 41 goals while Wolves are on 33.
Teams that went out are TOTTENHAM as they lost 2-0 away to London rivals Crystal Palace. That is Tottenhams third blank score sheet of the season. WEST HAM lost 4-2 away to AFC Wimbledon and they are now on 46 goals. OLDHAM are out as they lost 2-1 away to Doncaster and that is their 48th goal. EVERTON lost 3-2 away to Millwall and they are now on a total of 42 goals

CHAMPIONSHIP
LEEDS UNITED are still top here after they won 2-1 away to ROTHERHAM. Leeds are now three point in front of second place Norwich as they are now on a total of 52 goals. Rotherham picked up their 31st goal of the season. West Brom come next in fourth place as they played in the cup at the weekend. ASTON VILLA are now on 54 goals as they win 2-1 at home against bottom of the table IPSWICH who are now on 24 goals. BLACKBURN won 3-0 at home to HULL and they are now on a total of 54 goals while Hull picked up their tenth blank of the season after a goal run of ten games. After a three game dry spell for goals, NOTTINGHAM FOREST are now on 51 goals as they win 3-1 at home against Wigan. STOKE picked up their eighth blank of the season as they lost 2-0 at home to Preston.

LEAGUE ONE
We are still have the top six here with LUTON going top after they won 1-0 away to SOUTHEND. Luton have taken their goals tally up to 58 while Southend picked up their eighth blank score sheet. Portsmouth drop down to second place as they played in the cup. BARNSLEY move up to third place after they won 2-1 at home to ROCHDALE. Barnsley are now on 58 goals while Rochdale picked up goal number 41. CHARLTON in fourth place drew 0-0 away to PETERBOROUGH in sixth place. Charlton picked up their sixth blank score sheet while Borough picked up their ninth. BURTON ALBION are now on 49 goals as they drew 1-1 at home to Bradford. COVENTRY picked up their eighth blank of the season as they lost 2-0 at home to Blackpool. SCUNTHORPE won 1-0 away to Fleetwood and that is their 41st goal. WYCOMBE won 1-0 at home to PLYMOUTH and that is their 45th goal while Plymouth picked up their ninth blank of the season.

LEAGUE TWO
LINCOLN CITY are still on top after they drew 3-3 away to Bury. Lincoln are now on a total of 64 goals and they have now scored in all of their last fifteen games. MANSFIELD have moved up to second place after they won 3-0 at home to Tranmere. Mansfield are now on 52 goals. MK DONS are down to sixth place now after they lost 1-0 away to Grimsby. That is their fifth blank of the season and now two in a row. After a two game dry spell EXETER picked up their 42nd goal of the season as they win 1-0 at home to Cambridge Utd. SWINDON lost 1-0 at home to Crawley and that is their thirteenth blank score sheet.

SCOTTISH LEAGUES
In the Scottish Premiership, CELTIC are top as they win 3-0 at home to HAMILTON. Celtic are now on a total of 64 goals while Hamilton picked up their sixteenth blank score sheet and now no goals in their last three games. RANGERS move into second place after they won 3-0 away to Livingston. Rangers are now on 54 goals. ABDERDEEN drew 0-0 at home to Kilmarnock and that is their seventh blank score sheet. HEARTS won 2-0 at home to St Johnstone and they take their goals total to 48. It’s 40 for HIBERNIAN as they win 3-1 away to St Mirren.
In the Championship, ROSS COUNTY are top as they win 2-0 at home against ALLOA. County are now on a total of 47 goals while Alloa picked up their eleventh blank of the season. FALKIRK maybe bottom of the table but they drew 2-2 at home to Inverness CT. Falkirk are now on 26 goals.
In League One, RAITH ROVERS are down to second place after they lost 2-1 away to Brechin and that was their 57th goals of the season but their goal run continues with twenty-four games. DUMBARTON drew 1-1 at home to Montrose to pick up goal number 34. STENHOUSEMUIR are bottom as they win 1-0 away to Airdrie and they are on 31 goals.
In League Two, PETERHEAD drop down to second place as they lost 3-0 away to Annan. That is Peterheads eighth blank of the season.

Our Best teams this week are RAITH ROVERS after they have scored in all of their last twenty-four League and Cup games out of twenty-eight played. They have a total of 57 goals which still gives them a average score of 2 goals per game.

Our worst team this week is HAMILTON as they have picked up a total of sixteen blank score sheets out of twenty-eight league and cup games played this season. They have now scored just two goals in their last nine games.

Our biggest result in our 36th Season is now MANCHESTER CITY as they win 9-0 at home against league one BURTON ALBION in the Carabao/League Cup semi-final first leg tie in Week Twenty-Four.

JAMIE WOOD is back at the number one spot this weekend which is now his third weekend of the season. Jamie picked up a total of fourteen goals this week including eight coming from the weekend. His combination is Celtic, Manchester City and Tottenham.  Kellie Stratton moves back up to second place after she collected a total of fifteen goals for the week. Kellie has the combination of Celtic, Manchester City and West Brom.
At the other end at 133 we still have John Filtness at the bottom for his seventeenth consecutive weekend as he fails to pick up any goals for the week. He has now had twenty weeks at the bottom and he is now eleven goals adrift this weekend. His teams are  Birmingham, Hamilton and Liverpool.

There has been a very big change in the table this week, all thanks to Manchester City.

1st FA CUP Fourth Round Result

In the very first game of the FA CUP Fourth Round, MANCHESTER UNITED beat ARSENAL 3-1 away. United are our first team to go through to the next round, they have extended their goal run to twelve games and they are now on a total of 53 goals while Arsenal hit goal number 57.

In the Scottish Championship, AYR UNITED won 1-0 at home against Dundee Utd. Ayr after a three game dry spell for goals, picked up goal number 53 but it is now just two goals in their last six games.

Chelsea and City in Cup Final

In the other Carabao/League Cup Semi-Final, TOTTENHAM went a goal up in their first leg game against CHELSEA but, Chelsea managed to turn that one goal lead around and won the second leg game 2-1 at home.
That meant that the tie was a 2-2 draw and so penalties came into play which Chelsea won 4-2 and they will be playing Manchester City in the cup final on 24th February. Tottenham have taken their goals total up to 64 while Chelsea are now on 50 goals.

Manchester City in League Cup Final

In one of the Carabao/League Cup Semi-Finals, if you can remember and it was not that long ago that MANCHESTER CITY won their first leg game against BURTON ALBION 9-0 at home. That became this season’s highest score that we have had here at Golden Goals for this season. In the second leg game, expectations of City going into double figures were soon deflated as they went a goal up at half-time. That is how the game remained after the full 90 minutes 1-0 to City, winning 10-0 on aggregate. The single goal has extended their goal run to eleven games and they are now on a total of 85 goals. Burton picked up their eighth blank score sheet of the season.

In the Scottish Premiership they are back from their winter break and things have changed here in the table. CELTIC have gone back to the top after they won 4-0 at home to St Mirren taking their goals tally to 61. RANGERS are down to third place after they lost 2-1 away to Kilmarnock after going a goal up. That is their 51st goal of the season. ABERDEEN won 3-0 away to HAMILTON and they are now on a total of 43 goals and move into fourth place. Hamilton picked up their fifteenth blank score sheet and now just two goals in their last eight games. HEATS lost 2-1 at home to Dundee and they are now on 46 goals. HIBERNIAN lost 1-0 away to Motherwell and that is their eighth blank score sheet.

In League Two, LINCOLN CITY are on 61 goals as they win 2-0 away to Yeovil. Lincoln have now scored in all of their last fifteen games.

Week Twenty-Five

In Week Twenty-Five of the competition we had three players that shared the jackpot of £6 this weekend all picking up a total of 11 goals. Two of them are first time winners this season which now brings our winners total up to twenty-seven.
One player to pick up their second win of the season and it goes to SEAN GOUGH. With his highest score of the season, Sean last won in Week Twenty and he had to share the winnings on that one too. He has picked up a total of 27 goals in the last two weeks. He still has had just one blank score sheet at the weekend and this is his highest position to date.
Our other winners are NYE COOPER and KIRSTY SHAW. Nye is in his very first season with Golden Goals and I would like to thank him for join us. Nye has picked up four blank score sheets at the weekend and 48th place is the highest that he has been in Week Two. This is his second weekend for picking up eleven goals from his teams. Kirsty is in her second season with us. Last season Kirsty finished in 64th place out of 149 with a final score of 275 goals. She has picked up three blank score sheets at the weekend and the highest that Kirsty has been is in 33rd place in Week Two. This is also her second weekend for picking up eleven goals at the weekend. Here are his teams once again

WEEKEND RESULTS
We had a much better weekend for goals this week as the average score shot up from just one goal from last weekend up to a proud 7 goals. We have all picked up some goals this week. We only had five teams without a game over the weekend and we then had another thirteen teams that failed to score any goals. We did not have any really high scores this weekend but we did have a total of seven teams that picked up four goals each.

PREMIERSHIP
We still have the top six teams here with LIVERPOOL remaining top after they won 4-3 at home to Crystal Palace. Tottenham are now on a total of 63 goals while Fulham picked up goal number 37. CHELSEA are still in fourth place after they lost 2-0 away to London rivals ARSENAL who are in fifth place. As Chelsea picked up their sixth blank of the season, Arsenal take their goals tally up to 56. MANCHESTER UNITED are in sixth place as they win 2-1 at home to Brighton and they are now on a total of 50 goals and they have now scored in all of their last eleven games. NOTTS COUNTY lost 2-0 away to Yeovil to remain bottom of the table and that is their thirteenth blank of the season and now two in a row. They have scored just four goals in their last seven games. SWINDON won 2-1 away to Tranmere and they are on 35 goals.

RAITH ROVERS won 3-0 at home against Dunfermline and they are on a total of 56 goals and they have now scored in all of their last twenty-three games. HEARTS won 1-0 against Livingston and they are now on 45 goals.

Forty for Birmingham

In the English Championship, BIRMINGHAM lost 3-1 away to second in the table Norwich. The single goal gives Birmingham their 40th goal of the season.
Birmingham have been with Golden Goals for twenty seasons now and they first started with us in the 1989/90 Season being our 74th English team to join us. They finished on a total of 70 goals. Their highest score came in the 1994/95 Season with 95 goals. Last season they finished on a total of 47. Over the years they have scored a total of 1361 goals which gives them an average of 68 goals per season to date. This season they have just one vote and have already picked up a total of nine blank score sheets in thirty league/cup games played so far.

Another FA CUP Third Round Replay

We have another one of our Golden Goals teams through to the next round of the FA CUP after they won the third round replay. That team is DERBY who drew 2-2 away to Southampton and that score remained after extra time had been played. In the penalty shootout that followed, Derby won 5-3. Derby have taken their goals total up to 52 goals.

FA CUP Third Round Replays

In the FA CUP third round replays, we had four of our teams in action and out of them only one has made it through to the next round. They are SHREWSBURY who beat STOKE 3-2 away after going two goals down in the first half. Shrewsbury have taken their goals total up to 39 goals while Stoke are on 38. BLACKBURN ROVERS are out as they lost 4-2 at home to Newcastle. Rovers are now on 49 goals. LUTON have picked up their seventh blank of the season as they go out to Sheffield Wednesday 1-0 at home. Luton have now scored just one goal in their last four games.

Just one league game from the English league two where MANSFIELD won 1-0 at home to Crawley and that is their 46th goal of the season.

City Close Gap at Top

In the English Premiership, MANCHESTER CITY have made ground on Liverpool as they win 3-0 at home against WOLVES. City are now on a total of 81 goals and they have now scored in all of their last nine games.
City now look certain to reach another 100 goals which will be their fifth time of doing so. Their record score of 137 goals was scored in the 2013/14 Season and their lowest 100 was in 2011/12 with 105 goals. Last season they netted a total of 123. Wolves have picked up their eighth blank score sheet of the season.
