Promoted Leeds Win

In the Championship promoted LEEDS UNITED won 4-0 at home against Bristol City, to go back to the top on goal difference with Burnley. Leeds are on a total of 94 goals and have now scored in all of their last 9 league games.

Week Thirty-Eight

In Week Thirty-Eight of the competition, we had our double Rollover worth a total of £15. We had just 1 player that picked up the full amount of cash with the highest score with 14 goals. That player was CLARA STEPHENS who becomes our 35th and last winner of our 42nd season of Golden Goals.

Clara started with us back in the 2020/21 season and finished in 34th place on a total of 267 goals. Clara finished in 33rd place last season with 303 goals and picked up one shared weekend win. This season, Clara could be our next Champion with just s few weeks to go. This season so far, she has been top for a total of 7 weeks. Clara has picked up 4 blank weekend score sheets and this is her personal best weekend score to date. Her best team is Celtic and here are her winning teams.

100 MIDWEEK GOALS JACKPOT

Congratulations to JAMES BLYTH on reaching 100 midweek goals first this season. Although James needed just 8 goals to win, with 2 of his teams that were in action on Easter Monday, James received a total of 9 goals to reached his target. James received his goals from Birmingham City and Leeds United. His third team is Celtic. So the Midweek Prize Money of £25 has finally been won.

Most of us have managed to pick up some midweek goals once again this week. The highest score that we had was 13 goals and they went to MIKE HARRINGTON our 1997/98 Champion with his teams of Birmingham City, Charlton and Leeds United. Although the race for the cash is over, there is a record still to beat. There are now 10 players that have now reached the 90 goals mark and there will be a few more in the coming weeks. But how many of us will hit 100 goals? The record to beat is 136 midweek goals and the record holder is Daryl Nicholls from the 2016/17 Season.

We have JAMES BLYTH now with a total of 101 goals. James once again has Birmingham City, Celtic and Leeds United. In second place we MIKE HARRINGTON our 1997/98 Champion with a total of 99 goals. In third place we have RICKY WOOD our 2007/08 Champion, with a total of 98 goals. In fourth place we have GRANT PHILLIPS on a total of 95 goals, while in fifth place on 94 we have ALFIE DIMMOCK.

WEEKEND RESULTS

We had 4 of our teams without a game over the weekend and the ones that did play, 13 of them failed to score any goals. We had a really good weekend from our teams as the average score went up from five goals from last weekend to 6 goals this weekend. Well done if you had more than that. The highest score over the weekend was 5 goals, and they came from CELTIC and LIVERPOOL.

FA CUP Semi-Finals

CRYSTAL PALACE are in the finals after they won 3-0 at home to ASTON VILLA. Palace are now on a total of 65 goals. Villa picked up their 7th blank of the season after a goal run of 13 league/cup games. In the other game, MANCHESTER CITY will be playing in the final as they beat Nottingham Forest 2-0 away. City are on a total of 86 goals. Manchester City will play Crystal Palace on 17th May at Wembley.

PREMIER LEAGUE

Top of the table LIVERPOOL won 5-1 at home against TOTTENHAM to become League Champions. Liverpool have taken their goals tally to 99 goals. They have now scored in all of their last 12 league/cup games. Tottenham are on 75 goals. Arsenal are in 2nd place even though they had no game over the weekend. NEWCASTLE UNITED in 3rd place as they win 3-0 at home against IPSWICH TOWN and are now on a total of 85 goals. They have extended their goal run to 9 league/cup games. Ipswich are relegated and picked up their 12th blank of the season and now 2 games without a goal. Manchester City remain in 4th place in the league. CHELSEA are in 5th place after they won 1-0 at home to Everton and are on a total of 70 goals. WEST HAM UNITED lost 3-2 away to Brighton and are on a total of 42 goals. Relegated SOUTHAMPTON lost 2-1 at home to Fulham and are on a total of 38 goals. LEICESTER CITY are also relegated after they lost 3-0 away to Wolves. City have picked up their 17th  blank of the season and now 2 in a row. They have now scored just 2 goals in their last 10 league/cup games. AFC BOURNEMOUTH drew 1-1 at home against MANCHESTER UNITED and are on a total of 59 goals. United picked up their 58th goal of the season.

CHAMPIONSHIP

BURNLEY and Leeds United are promoted as BURNLEY won 5-0 away to QPR and have taken their goals tally up to 72.

In the Play-offs we have just 1 of the four teams and they are Sheffield United in 3rd place.

Meanwhile LUTON TOWN won 1-0 at home to Coventry and are on a total of 43 goals. MIDDLESBROUGH picked up their 14th blank of the season after they drew 0-0 at home to NORWICH CITY. City picked up their 13th blank score sheet. MILLWALL won 1-0 at home to SWANSEA CITY and are on 53 goals with a goal run of 6 league games. Swansea picked up their 18th blank of the season. OXFORD UNITED won 2-0 at home against Sunderland and are on a total of 49 goals. PRESTON NE lost 2-1 at home to Plymouth and are on a total of 59 goals. Preston have now scored in all of their last 6 league games. PORTSMOUTH drew 1-1 away to Sheffield Wednesday and are on a total of 57 goals.

LEAGUE ONE

BIMINGHAM CITY are promoted and top of the league, after they won 4-0 at home to Mansfield Town. City have taken their goals total to 88. WREXHAM are also promoted after they won 3-0 at home against CHARLTON. Wrexham are now on a total of 67 goals while Charlton, who are still in the play offs in 5th place, picked up their 11th blank of the season after a goal run of 6 games.

Meanwhile BARNSLEY lost 2-1 at home to Shrewsbury Town and are on a total of 68 goals and they have now scored in all of their last 8 league games. HUDDERSFIELD TOWN lost 3-1 away to Exeter City and hit goal number 62. PETERBOROUGH UNITED drew 1-1 at home to BOLTON and are on a total of 73 goals while Bolton are on 71. BLACKPOOL drew 1-1 away ti Wigan and are on a total of 64 goals.

LEAGUE TWO

Top of the table DONCASTER ROVERS are promoted after they won 2-1 at home to Bradford City. Rovers are on a total of 77 goals and have now scored in all of their last 10 league games.

In the Play-offs we have just 2 of the four teams. They are NOTTS COUNTY in 5th  place after they won 3-1 away to Harrogate Town. County are now on a total of 78 goals. AFC WIMBLEDON in 6th place after they lost 2-0 at home to Port vale. Wimbledon picked up their 16th blank of the season and now 3 games without a goal.

Meanwhile BROMLEY drew 3-3 away to Barrow and are now on a total of 69 goals. CHESTERFIELD won 4-1 at home to Morecambe and have taken their goals total to 76. MK DONS drew 0-0 at home to Grimsby Town and picked up their 20th blank of the season and now just 1 goal in their last 6 league games.

In the Premiership Champions CELTIC won 5-0 away to Dundee Utd and have now scored a total of 15 goals in their last 3 league/cup games. Celtic have taken their goals tally up to 133. RANGERS in 2nd place drew 2-2 away to St Mirren and are on a total of 85 goals. HEARTS lost 1-0 at home to DUNDEE and picked up their 11th blank of the season. Dundee are on a total of 81 goals. They have scored just 1 goals in their last 5 league/cup games. KILMARNOCK won 2-0 at home to ROSS COUNTY and are on a total of 41 goals and have now scored in all of their last 5 league games. In the Premier League TOTTENHAM lost 2-1 at home to Nottingham Forest and are on a total of 74 goals. 

In the Championship, LEEDS UNITED won 6-0 at home against Stoke City to remain top. Leeds have taken their goals total to 90 and have now scored in all of their last 8 league games. BURNLEY are in 2nd place as they win 2-1 at home to SHEFFIELD UNITED and are on a total of 67 goals. United are on 64 goals. Both Leeds and Burnley are promoted. OXFORD UNITED drew 1-1 away to Cardiff City and are on a total of 47 goals. PRESTON NE lost 2-1 away to Hull City and hit goal number 58 and a goal run of 5 league games. Week Thirty-Seven

In Week Thirty-Seven of the competition, it was the Easter Weekend and most of the goals came on Easter Sunday. We had 2 players that picked up the highest score with 11 goals each and again we had no prize money due to the lack of teams playing over the weekend. So we will have a double Rollover next weekend of £15 which will be our last weekend prize money of the season. The 2 players were ALEX DAVEY and GUY DOWSETT (2).

100 MIDWEEK GOALS JACKPOT

Most of us have managed to pick up some midweek goals once again this week. The highest score from “Good Friday” was 8 goals and they came from MALCOLM STUBBS with his teams of Manchester City, Newcastle United and Norwich City. So the race for the 100 Midweek Goals Jackpot has changed slightly again this week.

This week’s leader we still have JAMES BLYTH now with a total of 92 goals. James has Birmingham City, Celtic and Leeds United. In second place we still have RICKY WOOD our 2007/08 Champion, with a total of 90 goals. In third place we now have PETER WELLARD moving up from Four with a total of 88 goals. In joint fourth place we now have MIKE HARRINGTON our 1997/98 Champion, GRANT PHILLIPS down from three and STEVE STUBBS (2) up from five. All are now on a total of 86 goals. In fifth place with a total of 85 goals we now have CLARA STEPHENS down from third place.

WEEKEND RESULTS

We had most of our teams without a game over the weekend and the ones that did play, 7 of them failed to score any goals. We had a fairly good Easter weekend from our teams as the average score fell from seven goals from last weekend to 5 goals this weekend. The highest score over the weekend was 5 goals, and they came from the SCOTTISH CUP Semi-Finals where CELTIC won 5-0 away to St Johnston. They will play Aberdeen in the final.

PREMIER LEAGUE

Top of the table LIVERPOOL, won 1-0 away to LEICESTER CITY and are on a total of 94 goals. They have now scored in all of their last 11 league/cup games. Leicester picked up their 16th blank on the season and are now relegated. ARSENAL in 2nd place won 4-0 away to IPSWICH TOWN and have taken their goals tally up to 73 and have now scored in all of their last 6 league games. Ipswich picked up their 11th blank of the season. NEWCASTLE UNITED in 3rd place lost 4-1 away to ASTON VILLA and are on a total of 77 goals. They have extended their goal run to 8 league/cup games. Villa with their biggest result to date are now on a total of 65 goals and a goal run of 12 league/cup games. MANCHESTER CITY won 2-0 away to Everton and are on a total of 82 goals and are in 4th place in the league. CHELSEA are in 5th place after they won 2-1 away to Fulham and are on a total of 69 goals. We had just 2 of our teams in cup action and only one has made it to the finals. They are CELTIC who won 5-0 away to St Johnstone. Celtic have taken their goals tally to 128 goals. HEARTS drew 1-1 against Aberdeen at home before they lost 2-1 after extra time. Hearts, after they had failed to score in their last 3 league games, are now on a total of 52 goals.

In the Championship, top of the table FALKIRK lost their 6th league game, 3-1 at home to Raith Rovers. Falkirk are on a total of 87 goals.

In League One, COVE RANGERS are still in 2nd place after they drew 1-1 at home to Alloa. Rangers are on a total of 63 goals. STENHOUSEMUIR are down to 4th place after they drew 1-1 at home to Inverness CT. Stenhousemuir are on a total of 56 goals.

In League Two, PETERHEAD have remained top after they lost 4-0 away to Elgin City. Peterhead picked up their 12th blank of the season. EAST FIFE are still in 2nd place after they won 2-0 at home to Stirling. Fife are on a total of 71 goals. CLYDE lost 2-0 away to The Spartans and and picked up their 11th blank of the season.

Newcastle Making Progress

In the Premier League with their biggest result of the season, NEWCASTLE UNITED have moved up to 3rd place after they won 5-0 at home to CRYSTAL PALACE. Rovers Still in Play Offs

In League Two DONCASTER ROVERS drew 1-1 away to Salford City to remain in 4th place in the play-offs. As Rovers pick up goal number 69, they have now scored in all of their last 12 league/cup games.

Bournemouth 1st win in six games

In the Premier League AFC BOURNEMOUTH won 1-0 at home to Fulham and are on a total of 58 goals. Bournemouth have now scored in all of their last 8 league games.

Week Thirty-Six

In Week Thirty-Six of the competition, we had a total of 8 players winning on a score of 10 goals each. Under our competition rules, we can only have 4 winners per week. So we will have another Rollover but it will be a double Rollover as next weekend is Easter weekend. So Week Thirty-Eight we have a Rollover Jackpot of £15. The high scorer’s this weekend are STEVE AYRES, FIONA CARTHY, STEVE HAMMOND, TONY KING (1), MICK LIDDLE, CHRIS NUNN,  GRANT PHILLIPS and PETER WELLARD.  

100 MIDWEEK GOALS JACKPOT

Most of us have managed to pick up some midweek goals again this week. So the race for the 100 Midweek Goals Jackpot has changed slightly again this week.

This week’s leader we have JAMES BLYTH with a total of 91 goals. James has Birmingham City, Celtic and Leeds United. In second place we now have last week’s joint leader RICKY WOOD our 2007/08 Champion, with a total of 89 goals. In third place we now have GRANT PHILLIPS and CLARA STEPHENS both moving down from two. Both are on a total of 85 goals. In fourth place we now have MARTIN CORBETT and ALFIE DIMMOCK both moving down from three with MIKE HARRINGTON our 1997/98 Champion, moves up from five and PETER WELLARD moves back into the race. All are now on a total of 83 goals. In fifth place all with a total of 82 goals we still have STEVE STUBBS (2) and joining him now we have BARRY BURROUGHS down from four with MARK WALKER. 

WEEKEND RESULTS

We had 8 of our teams without a game over the weekend and we had another 10 teams that failed to score any goals. We had a great weekend from our teams as we head into the Easter fixture. Our average score from last weekend shot up from three goals to a fantastic 7 goals this weekend. The highest score over the weekend was 5 goals, and they came from 2 of our teams. They were CELTIC and MANCHESTER CITY.

PREMIER LEAGUE

Top of the table LIVERPOOL, won 2-1 at home to WEST HAM UNITED and are on a total of 93 goals. They have now scored in all of their last 10 league/cup games. West Ham picked up goals number 39. ARSENAL in 2nd place drew 1-1 at home to Brentford and hit goal number 69 and have now scored in all of their last 5 league games. MANCHESTER CITY won 5-2 at home to CRYSTAL PALACE and have taken their goals tally to 80. Palace are on a total of 60 goals and have extended their goal run to 17 league/cup games. LEICESTER CITY are second from bottom as they drew 2-2 away to Brighton. Leicester, after they had failed to score in their last 7 league games, are now on a total of 40 goals. Bottom of the table SOUTHAMPTON lost 3-0 at home to ASTON VILLA and picked up their 14th blank of the season. Villa are now on a total of 61 goals and have now scored in all of their last 11 league/cup games. CHELSEA drew 2-2 at home to IPSWICH TOWN and are on a total of 67 goals while Ipswich are on 43 goals. TOTTENHAM lost 4-2 away to Wolves and are on a total of 73 goals. NEWCASTLE UNITED won 4-1 at home against MANCHESTER UNITED and have taken their goals tally to 76 and a goal run of 6 league games. United are on a total of 57 goals after they failed to score in their last 2 games.

CHAMPIONSHIP

LEEDS UNITED are top of the table on goal difference after they won 2-1 at home against PRESTON NE. Leeds are on a total of 83 goals and have now scored in all of their last 6 league games. Preston are on a total of 56 goals. Burnley are in 2nd place.

In the Play-offs we now have just 1 of the 4 teams. They are SHEFFIELD UNITED in 3rd place after they lost 2-1 away to Plymouth and are on a total of 61 goals after they had failed to score in their previous 2 games.

Meanwhile LUTON TOWN lost 1-0 at home to Blackburn Rovers and picked up their 16th blank of the season. MILLWALL won 1-0 at home against MIDDLESBROUGH and are on a total of 48 goals. Middlesbrough picked up their 13th  blank of the season and now 2 in a row. It’s 50 goals for PORTSMOUTH after they drew 2-2 at home to Derby County. OXFORD UNITED won 1-0 away to Sheffield Wednesday and are on a total of 46 goals and have now scored in all of their last 8 league games. SWANSEA CITY won 1-0 away to Sunderland and are on a total of 48 goals.

LEAGUE ONE

Birmingham City have remained top of the table again this weekend. WREXHAM are still in 2nd place after they drew 0-0 away to Wigan and are after a goal run of 5 league games, Wrexham picked up their 9th blank of the season.

In the Play-offs we now have just one of the 4 teams. They are CHARLTON in 6th place after they won 1-0 away to Cambridge Utd. Charlton are on a total of 67 goals.

Meanwhile BARNSLEY won 4-0 at home to BOLTON WANDERERS and have taken their goals tally to 63 goals and have now scored in all of their last 6 league games. Bolton are on a total of 68 goals. HUDDERSFIELD TOWN lost 3-0 away to Burton and picked up their 15th blank of the season and now 2 in a row.

LEAGUE TWO

In the Play-offs we have three of the 4 teams with DONCASTER ROVERS being our highest team still in 4th place. They drew 1-1 at home to AFC WIMBLEDON in 5th place. Rovers are now on a total of 68 goals and have now scored in all of their last 6 league games. Wimbledon are on a total of 62 goals and have now scored in all of their last 8 league games. Notts County are still in 6th place.

Meanwhile CHESTERFIELD won 3-0 at home to Fleetwood Town and are now on a total of 69 goals. MK DONS lost 1-0 away to Gillingham and picked up their 18th blank of the season and now 3 games without a goal. BROMLEY lost 5-0 away to Port Vale and after a goal run of 8 league games, picked up their 8th blank of the season.

SCOTTISH LEAGUES

In the Premiership Champions CELTIC won 5-1 at home against KILMARNOCK. Celtic have taken their goals tally to 123 goals. Kilmarnock are on 39 goals. RANGERS in 2nd place drew 2-2 away to Aberdeen after going down to 10 men. Rangers are on a total of 83 goals. After they had failed to score in their previous 3 games, ROSS COUNTY lost 3-2 away to St Mirren and are on a total of 45 goals. HEARTS drew 0-0 away to Motherwell and picked up their 10th blank of the season and now 3 games in a row without a goal. DUNDEE lost 4-0 away to Hibernian and picked up their 9th blank of the season after a goal run of 9 league/cup games.

In League One COVE RANGERS are still in 2nd place after they won 3-1 away to Dumbarton. Rangers after they had failed to score in their last 3 league games, are now on a total of 62 goals. STENHOUSEMUIR are still in 3rd place after they lost 4-0 away to Arbroath. Stenhousemuir picked up their 16th blank of the season.

In League Two PETERHEAD have remained top after they won 1-0 at home to The Spartans. Peterhead are on a total of 63 goals. EAST FIFE are still in 2nd place after they won 2-1 away to Bonnyrigg Rose. Fife are on a total of 69 goals. CLYDE drew 1-1 at home to Forfar and are on a total of 49 goals.

Our worst performing team is now MK DONS this weekend as they have had a total of 18 blank score sheets from 43 league/cup games. They have a total of 51 goals.

Our highest goal scoring team that we have in our 42nd Season are MANCHESTER CITY after they won 8-0 at home to Salford City in the FA Cup 3rd Round in Week Twenty-Three.

Our leader CLARA STEPHENS celebrates her 5th weekend at the top as her team’s picked up a total of 9 goals this week. Clara has Birmingham City, Celtic and Liverpool. Clara has now moved up to 32nd place in our “Champions League”. Clara has now beaten our 1984/85 Champion Martyn Gent’s total of 289 and Steve Reeve’s score of 290 from the 2008/09 Season. She has also beaten our joint Champions Ricky Wood/Gerry Kyei score of 293 from the 2007/08 Season and Tony Axford’s score of 297 from the 1991/92 Season. James Blyth has moved up to 2nd place and is still 10 goals behind Clara, James picked up a total of 10 goals from the week. His teams are Birmingham City, Celtic and Leeds United.

At the other end at 114, we have CHARLIE FARLEY with his 22nd consecutive weekend. Charlie’s team’s pick him a total of 3 goals once again this weekend. His teams are Kilmarnock, Ross County and Stenhousemuir. Charlie this weekend has remained in 41st place in our “Losers League”  

Again there is a slight change in the top ten this weekend. Our Champion will win £100 this season.
