Holiday Time

The Golden Goals blog will be shutting down for a week as I take a much needed break! But if I can get to a computer while I am away, then a little note here and there might be seen.

Can you guess where I am going?
So in two weeks’ time I will be bringing you right up to date with what’s going on in the competition.
So until then take care one and all,

Games last night

It was a dismal night for our teams last night as only one out of the three teams that we had playing managed to score. That team was Reading who beat Leeds UTD 1-0 at home. That was Readings 8th goal of the season while Leeds picked up their third blank score sheet of the season. QPR picked up their second blank score sheet as they drew 0-0 at home to Brighton.

WEEK SIX

Sheet six of this season’s competition is now out and as you can see Chris Challis is once again top this weekend with a total of 61 goals, with his combination of Peterborough, QPR and Rangers. Chris is now seven goals clear of Colin Webb and he could make it five weeks in a row next weekend with another full league fixture taking place this weekend coming. We also have a few more games being played in midweek.
Geoff Carthy was the only person not to pick up any goals last week. Geoff has the combination of Chelsea, Man City and Reading.
At the other end of the table at number 103, we have had a different name each weekend. Pete Murphy is now there with his combination of Chelsea, Man UTD and Reading.
We are now down to 8 of our teams that have that 100% scoring record.  They are ARSENAL, CELTIC, LIVERPOOL, MIDDLESBROUGH, MORTON, NOTTINGHAM FOREST, RANGERS, and STENHOUSEMUIR.
Peterborough are still doing very well on the goals front this week with 28 goals to date. Borough are on target to beat their record breaking record of 129 goals from our 2010/11 Season. Rangers come in second place with 24 goals while Leyton Orient moved into third place with 19 goals.

Last night we had more of our teams in action and these will be on the next sheet of Golden Goals. A great night for Leyton Orient as they win 5-1 at home to Notts County. Orient are now on 24 goals. Wolves picked up their third blank of the season as they lost 1-0 at home to Walsall. Bristol City drew 1-1 at home to Shrewsbury to take their goals tally to 15. Bournemouth are now on 9 goals as they win 1-0 at home to Barnsley. Birmingham picked up their 4th blank of the season and now two in a row as they lost 3-0 away to Burnley. Charlton are on 13 goals as they lost 2-1 away to Huddersfield. It’s 18 for Leicester City as they win 2-1 at home to Blackburn. Blackpool lost 3-1 away to Millwall but they are on a total of 10 goals. Forest and Middlesbrough keep their 100% scoring record going this season as they drew 2-2. Watford are on 19 as they won 2-1 at home to Doncaster. Doncaster picked up their 8th goal of the season after a two game dry spell. Bolton picked up two goals as they drew 2-2 at home to Derby. Bolton are now on 9 goals.
There are more of our teams in action tonight.

It's been a while

Hi all and have a look at that, we have now had over 1,000 hits. Let’s hope that we will have a bigger number of people playing next season.
Liverpool failed to pick up all three points last night as they drew 2-2 away to Swansea. Liverpool move up to top position in the English Premiership and they now have a total of 9 goals this season and they keep their 100% scoring record going. Swansea are now on 5 goals. We have a few more games being played tonight.
The News sheet will be out tomorrow, on time, and there has been a lot on movement in the table. Has Chris Challis managed to keep his top position? And who has won the first rollover prize of £10 of the season. Tomorrow we will revel all

WEEK FIVE

Sheet five of this season’s competition is now out and as you can see Chris Challis is once again top this weekend with a total of 52 goals, with his combination of Peterborough, QPR and Rangers. He could still be there next weekend with a full league fixture taking place this weekend coming.
A few of us this weekend picked up our very first blank score sheet of the season but some of you have picked up your second.
At the other end of the table that dreaded number 103, we have had a different name each weekend. James Maroni is now there with his combination of Celtic, Chelsea and Tottenham although all of his teams will be in action over the next weekend.
We are now down to 10 teams that have that 100% scoring record.  They are ARSENAL, BRISTOL CITY, CELTIC, LIVERPOOL, MANCHESTER CITY, MIDDLESBROUGH, MORTON, NOTTINGHAM FOREST, RANGERS, and STENHOUSEMUIR.
We had a total of eleven past champions in this season’s competition including last season’s champion Alice Stubbs. Alice has started the season right at the bottom of the table with a change of her winning combination for this season.  With two blank score sheets already this season, Alice has climbed up to number 95 but has slipped down this weekend as none of her teams played any games. She has Chelsea, Man City and Man UTD. It could all change for her this weekend as they are all playing this Saturday. Alice has a total of 16 goals.
The person that took Alice’s winning combination was John Morecraft. John with the Chelsea, Man City and Rangers combination, is hoping to have the success that Alice had with them last season, but John has also had two blank score sheets at the weekend with 43rd place being his highest to date with a total of 27 goals.
So Peterborough are still doing very well on the goals front with 25 goals to date. Borough are on target to beat their record breaking record of 129 goals from our 2010/11 Season. Rangers come in second place with 19 goals and Watford follow with 16.

A little update

With no games at all in midweek, we did have a few of our teams in action over the weekend.
Chris Challis is again top this weekend with a total of 52 goals, with his combination of Peterborough, QPR and Rangers. Chris picked up another two goals from Peterborough at the weekend. He could still be there next weekend with a full league fixture coming up this weekend.
We have still had just two names at the number one spot. In the first two weeks we had Colin Webb and now Chris Challis holds that place for the last three weeks still five goals clear of Colin. Both have Peterborough and now pulling away from the rest of us.

At the other end of the table that dreaded number 103, we have had a different name each weekend. James Maroni is now there with his combination of Celtic, Chelsea and Tottenham.
We still have 10 teams that have that 100% scoring record this weekend.  They are ARSENAL, BRISTOL CITY, CELTIC, LIVERPOOL, MANCHESTER CITY, MIDDLESBROUGH, MORTON, NOTTINGHAM FOREST, RANGERS, and STENHOUSEMUIR.

Last night Preston took their goals tally to 12 goals as they win 2-1 at home against Oldham. They have just three votes this season.

WEEK FOUR

Sheet four of this season’s competition is now out and as you can see Chris Challis is still top this weekend with a total of 50 goals, with his combination of Peterborough, QPR and Rangers. He could still be there next weekend  with the English league fixture is down to just the two lower leagues one and two because of the FIFA World Cup Qualifying rounds that are happening all week. So that means that Chris will have Peterborough playing and they are away to Crewe at the weekend.

Now so far this season we have had just two names at the number one spot. In the first two weeks we had Colin Webb and now Chris Challis holds that place for the last two weeks five goals clear of Colin.

At the other end of the table that dreaded number 103, we have had a different name each weekend. In the first weekend was last season’s champion, Alice Stubbs, who has moved up very slowly to 95th place but has moved down one this weekend. Dean Middleton came next in weekend two followed by another lady Sandra Nicholls in our third week. This weekend we see Stuart Kemp just one goal behind the field. Stuart has the combination of Manchester United, Southend and Tottenham total of 12 goals.

With 11 of our teams picking up their first blank score sheets we are now down to just 10 teams that have that 100% scoring record still.  They are ARSENAL, BRISTOL CITY, CELTIC, LIVERPOOL, MANCHESTER CITY, MIDDLESBROUGH, MORTON, NOTTINGHAM FOREST, RANGERS, and STENHOUSEMUIR.

Manchester United's Blue's

The week has been really funny with the goals. In midweek although it was bad for our teams going out in the two domestic cup rounds that were played, the weekend fared no better.
Not a great start to the season and to the new boss of Manchester United who lost 1-0 away to Liverpool. As Chelsea had no game this weekend, Liverpool went top of the English Premiership. United are now 7th in the league and now two blank score sheets in a row. Manchester city are third as they win 2-0 at home to Hull.
We had another four teams to pick up their first blank score sheets of the season. They are Doncaster, Peterborough, Tottenham and Watford. Yep Peterborough failed to score against Crawley Town and lost 2-0 at home. Ouch! Still they do remain our best team this weekend with 23 goals to their credit.
So is Chris Challis still top this weekend, he has Peterborough, QPR and Rangers. Well you will have to wait for that question to be answered but we did get another weekend winner on 10 goals. Is that you?
With 11 of our teams picking up their first blank score sheets we are now down to just 10 teams that have that 100% scoring record still.
