Week Three

Here we are with week three already as GEOFFREY PAIN has become our third person to go top this weekend as he’s combination of teams pick him up a total of 9 goals for the week. They all came from  the weekend with Celtic 3, Chelsea 3 and Hearts 3. A very close second this weekend is now MICK HOWARD who picked up 8 goals for the week. 
At the other end at number 119, JOHN NICHOLLS is in his second weekend at number 119 as he only picked up just one more goal from his combination. The single goal came from the weekend from Bolton of all of his teams. His other teams are Arsenal who had no game and Newcastle who picked up another blank score sheets this weekend.  

Week Three in our 33rd Season and we had three winners this weekend who picked up a total of 9 goals each. This brings our winner total to six and they have all take a share of  the £5 Weekend Cash Prize Money. Our winners are  MANGO (Paul Moran), GEOFFREY PAIN and TONY SKINNER all three have picked up their highest score of the season and all have played in previous season s with us. Mango has been over ten season with Golden Goals, but last season he finished in the winning frame in 21st place on 272 goals. This season Paul has picked up a total of 12 goals this week and we see him at his highest yet. Geoffrey is in his seventh season with us and last season he finished in 44th place out of 106 on 263 goals. As he moves to the top this weekend the lowest that he has been so far is third place.Tony is in his third season and in our last one, Tony finished in 74th place on a total of 244 goals. He also picked up a total of 12 goals for the week and we also see him at his highest position. All of our winners have Celtic as their best team to date. Our winners teams are

100 MIDWEEK GOALS JACKPOT

Most of us managed to pick up some more midweek goals last week  and there was two of you who picked up the most.
With a total of 5 goals each, they belonged to last season’s champion, TOBY BICKNELL and TONY KING.
Toby Picked he’s up from two goals from Derby’s two games and three from Sheffield United. His third team is Celtic.
Tony received his goals from Hull two, QPR three and his third team is Rangers.
But this week we have two in the lead for the £40 cash prize money this season. They are  MICK LIDDLE and CRAIG EVANS both are on a total of 17 midweek goals. In second place on 16 we have MARK HOWARD up from three last week and straight in TONY KING.. In third place up from five is TOM McDONALD on 15 goals while in fourth place down from three is GEOFFREY PAIN on 14 goals. We then have quite a filed all on 13 goals.

WEEKEND RESULTS

All but one of us managed to pick up some goals from our combination this weekend as we had another fairly good week for goals. The average score for this weekend fell from seven from last weekend to just 5 goals this weekend.
The highest score that we had over the weekend came from QUEENS PARK RANGERS in the Championship. They won their second league game out of four played by beating Rotherham 4-2 at home. Rangers are now on 12 goals and they have now scored in all of their last four games. Rangers with seven votes this season, finished on a total of 42 goals last season and finished as our second worst team behind Wigan. 

PREMIERSHIP
MANCHESTER CITY are still top here as they win 2-0 away to EVERTON. City are now on 8 goals from three games played while Everton pick up their first blank of the season. Leicester City are in second place with MANCHESTER UNITED in third as they drew 0-0 at home to NEWCASTLE to pick up their first blank of the season. Newcastle picked up their second and now two games in a row with out a goal. TOTTENHAM picked up goal number three as they drew 1-1 with Leicester City. NORWICH are on 5 goals as they drew 1-1 at home to Stoke while WEST HAM picked up their highest score but lost 4-3 at home to Bournemouth. The Hammers are on 6 goals. WATFORD picked up their second blank as they drew 0-0 at home to Southampton. Watford have now failed to score in their last two games. 

CHAMPIONSHIP 
In the Championship, IPSWICH went top in midweek after their win against Burnley and they stay there this weekend as they win 2-1 away to PRESTON. Ipswich are now on 10 goals while Preston hit goal number five. BRIGHTON move down to second place as they win 1-0 at home to Blackburn. Brighton take their goals tally to six. In third place is CHARLTON after they won 2-1 at home against HULL. Charlton are on 9 goals while Hull are on eight. Fourth is MK DONS but they drew 0-0 away to Reading. That was the Dons 2nd blank of the season. CARDIFF are on 7 goals as they win 2-0 at home to WOLVES who picked up their very first blank of the season after five games played. BRISTOL CITY won 1-0 away to MIDDLESBROUGH and that puts them on 6 goals while Brough picked up their second blank in five games. LEEDS UTD drew 1-1 at home to Sheffield Wednesday and picked up goal number five. BURNLEY picked up their 4th goal as they win 1-0 at home to BRENTFORD. Brentford picked up their 2nd blank of the season. Finally after five games played this season, BOLTON have scored their first goal as they drew 1-1 at home to NOTTINGHAM FOREST in the very last kick of the game. Forest are on 6 goals. 

LEAGUE ONE 
SHEFFIELD UNITED are our highest team here in fourth place. They won 2-0 at  home to BLACKPOOL and now gives them a total of 8 goals while Blackpool picked up their 3rd blank of the season and only scored one goal in their last three games. BURTON ALBION are fifth as they win their third league game 2-1 at home against PETERBOROUGH. Burton are on 7 goals while Borough picked up their 6th. It’s ten for SWINDON as they win 1-0 away to SOUTHEND. Southend are already in trouble as they have failed to score in their last four games. CHESTERFIELD drew 0-0 at home to Rochdale and that was their 2nd blank of the season. WIGAN picked up their 3rd as they lost 2-0 away to Gillingham. PORT VALE picked up their biggest score to date as they win 3-0 at home to Doncaster. Port vale are on 7 goals. 

LEAGUE TWO
We still have the top three teams here with LEYTON ORIENT on top this weekend as they win 3-2 away to Newport. Orient are now on a total of 12 goals. WYCOMBE are down to second place as they drew 1-1 at home against Dag & Redbridge. Wycombe picked up goal number seven. Third is now PLYMOUTH as they win 2-0 away to Northampton 5 goals.on. Plymouth are on 10 goals. PORTSMOUTH are now on 10 goals as they drew 3-3 at home to Morecombe. STEVENAGE won their first league game of the season as they beat Hartlepool 2-0 at home. They are now on 5 goals. LUTON lost 3-2 against Yeovil away but they are now on 8 goals. drew 0-0 with MILLWALL at home for both teams picking up their second blank of the season.  

SCOTTISH LEAGUES 
In the Scottish Premiership, we still have the top three here as well. HEARTS win 3-0 at home to Partick which means that they have now won all five of their league games. They are top with 17 goals. CELTIC are still in second place after they won 3-1 away to Dundee Utd.  Celtic are now on 13 goals. ABERDEEN are still third as they win 2-0 at home to Dundee. Aberdeen are now on 7 goals this weekend.  In the Championship RANGERS remained top after they beat HIBERNIAN just 1-0 at home. That was Rangers 12th goal of the season. Hibs picked up their first blank of the season. QUEEN OF THE SOUTH are still second as they win 2-0 away to Dumbarton and that now gives them a total of 10 goals. FALKIRK won 2-1 away to Livingston and they are now on a total of 9 goals. In the lower Leagues, STENHOUSEMIR lost 2-1 at home to Peterhead and they are on 5 goals. CLYDE lost 2-0 away to Montrose to get their third blank of the season and now two games in a row. QUEENS PARK won 2-1 away to Arbroath and are now on 4 goals while BERWICK won 3-1 away to Stirling. Berwick are on 8 goals now.So lets have a look at our

Our worst team this week are SOUTHEND. After five games which is a cup game and four league games, Southend  have failed to score in the last four games. 

Our Best team this weekend is still HEARTS after scoring in all of their six League and Cup games played they are on a total of 17 goals which is about three goals per game.

Our highest goal scorers in our 33rd Season are FALKIRK and RANGERS. Falkirk won 5-0 in the Scottish Communities League Cup First Round against East Stirling in week one, while Rangers get their score against  Alloa in week two winning 5-1 away in a league game.

The good news is although we are now three weeks into this competition, we still have seventeen teams that still have a 100% scoring record of which six of them are Scottish teams.
