Celtic Through To Next Round Of Cup


In the Scottish League Cup quarter-final, CELTIC beat HEARTS 2-1 away to take their goals tally to 35 while Hearts picked up goal number 30.

Five Goal City In Capital One Cup

On Tuesday night we saw two of our top teams depart from the fourth round of the Capital One Cup and last night we added another one.
That team was MANCHESTER UNITED who lost 3-1 on penalties to MIDDLESBROUGH. The result after extra time was 0-0 and that was United’s 4th blank score sheet and now two games in a row, while Brough picked up their 6th. Brough have now scored just three goals in their last five games but they are now going into the next round of the cup.

But we did get another two of our teams through. LIVERPOOL picked up their 11th goal of the season as they beat Bournemouth 1-0 at home while MANCHESTER CITY picked up another five goals as they win 5-1 at home to Crystal Palace. City are now on a total of 33 goals and that is now a total of sixteen goals in their last four games. 

Capital One Cup Fourth Round

On Tuesday night we had the fourth round of the Capital One Cup where five of our teams were in action. It was not a good night for our Golden Goals teams as only two of them have made it through to the next round.
EVERTON go through as they win 4-3 on penalties against NORWICH after they drew 1-1 after extra time. Everton picked up goal number 21 while Norwich are now on 20. HULL are also through after they also won on a penalty shoot-out 5-4 against Leicester City. The game ended 1-1 after extra time which now gives Hull a total of 24 goals. But the biggest news of that night was that ARSENAL went out 3-0 away to Sheffield Wednesday to pick up their 4th blank of the season and CHELSEA lost 5-4 on penalties after they drew 1-1 after extra time against Stoke. Chelsea are now on a total of 20 goals. 

On Monday night in the English Championship, CARDIFF picked up their 3rd blank of the season as they drew 0-0 at home to BRISTOL CITY. Cardiff have now scored just one goal in their last three games now. City also picked up their 3rd blank of the season

Week Twelve

DANIEL GOODSON is at the top for his fifth weekend. Daniel’s combination of  teams picked him up just four goals this weekend from Manchester City 0, Middlesbrough 3 and Rangers 1 to be the first person to reach 100 goals. He is  just two goals clear of  LAURIE KING who moves into second place after his teams picked him up a total of ten goals this week. Laurie's teams are Arsenal, Peterborough and Rangers.

At the other end, JOHN NICHOLLS is in his eleventh weekend at number 119 as his combination picked him up a total of just three goals this weekend. His teams are Arsenal, Bolton and  Newcastle.

100 MIDWEEK GOALS JACKPOT 
Just under half of us managed to pick up some more midweek goals this week with STUART KEMP picking up the highest score with four goals. They came from two of his teams, Hibernian 1 and Preston 3. His third team is Tottenham.
CRAIG EVANS is in the lead again this week with his teams of  Hearts, Manchester City and Middlesbrough. Craig has a total of 34 goals. In second place up from three we have TONY KING with 32 goals.  In third place both from two of last week we have DANIEL GOODSON and MICK LIDDLE both on 31 goals while BARBARA BARNES (2) drops down to fourth place  still on 29 goals. In fifth place we have JAMES HUNTER and TOM MACDONALD both down from fourth place with MALCOLM CORMACK and MARK HOWARD who have remained in fifth place plus straight in is NATHAN TREADWELL all on 28 goals. In sixth place we have CHRIS SETFORD and RICHARD WILLIAMS both on 26 goals.

This weekend we had our 15th winner of the season LEE CLARK winning on a total of 12 goals which is his highest score of the season.
Lee is in his very first season with Golden Goals and the highest that he has been so far, is in 83rd place from week one. He has picked up two blank score sheets over the season to date and his best team is Celtic. Lee’s teams picked him up £5 in cash and here they are

WEEKEND RESULTS                                
I had forgotten to tell you what the average score was last weekend, which was six goals. So for the second weekend running the average score has remained at six goals.
We had a lack of goals from our top English teams this weekend but all of us managed to pick up some goals again this weekend. Out of our 57 teams that we have this season, two that had no game and another thirteen of our teams that failed to score any goals.
Our highest score came from the English/Scottish Premierships and the Scottish Championship where CELTIC, FALKIRK and TOTTENHAM all picked up the weekends highest score with five goals each.
Celtic kept their top spot in the premiership as they beat Dundee Utd 5-0 at home. Celtic have only scored a total of three goals in their previous three games, so this will help all you Celtic fans as they take their goals tally to 33. Last season Celtic finished on a total of 110 goals. Falkirk are in third place in the championship as they win 5-0 away to Dumbarton.
Falkirk have also scored just two goals in their last five games. This now brings their goals total to 23. Last time that they played in Golden Goals was back in our 2012/13 Season they finished on a total of 64 goals.
Tottenham picked up their highest score of the season as they beat Bournemouth 5-1 away to put them in sixth place in the English premiership. The five goals now gives Tottenham a total of 17 goals. They finished on 75 goals last season.

PREMIERSHIP
We once again have all of the top four teams here with MANCHESTER CITY still on top after they drew 0-0 at home to local rivals MANCHESTER UNITED away. City’s goals run of ten games has come to the end with their very first blank score sheet of the season. United picked up their third and they are down to fourth place. ARSENAL are still in second place as they win 2-1 at home to EVERTON. Both Arsenal and Everton are now on 20 goals. WEST HAM move up to third place and are doing very well at the moment as they win 2-1 at home to London rivals CHELSEA. West Ham are now on 23 goals and keep their 100% goal scoring record going while Chelsea hit goal number 19. NORWICH lost 1-0 at home to West Brom to pick up their 2nd blank of the season while WATFORD won 2-0 away to Stoke. Watford are now on 8 goals. LIVERPOOL are on 10 goals as they drew 1-1 at home to Southampton. NEWCASTLE picked up their 6th blank of the season as they lost 3-0 away to Sunderland.

CHAMPIONSHIP
BRIGHTON are still top here but they drew 0-0 at home to PRESTON. Brighton picked up their 2nd blank while Preston picked up their 5th. HULL are now in second place as they win 2-0 at home against Birmingham. Hull are now on 23 goals and they have scored in all of their last eight games. BURNLEY are now in third place as they win 1-0 away to Blackburn to pick up their 18th goal of the season. MIDDLESBROUGH come next down to fourth place as they win 3-1 away to WOLVES after a three game dry spell for goals. Brough are now on a total of 28 goals while Wolves hit goal number 22. DERBY are in fifth place as they win 2-1 away to Huddersfield and that now gives them a total of 19 goals. QPR won 3-0 at home to MK DONS so they are now on a total of 26 goals while the Dons picked up their 7th blank and now they have failed to score in their last two games. It’s 19 goals for BRENTFORD as they beat CHARLTON 3-0 away. Charlton have failed to score in their last three games as they now have a total of five blank sheets to date. BOLTON take their goals tally to 10 as they drew1-1 at home to LEEDS UTD. Leeds picked up goal number 13. IPSWICH drew 1-1 away to NOTTINGHAM FOREST to pick up goal number 22 after a three game dry spell.  Forest are now on 14 goals.

LEAGUE ONE
BURTON ALBION are still in third place this weekend as they win 2-0 at home to PORT VALE. Burton after a three game dry spell are now on 17 goals. Port Vale picked up their 7th blank of the season. It is no surprise that WIGAN are next in fifth place as they drew 1-1 away to Bradford. Wigan are now on 26 goals. SHEFFIELD UNITED follow them  in sixth place but they lost 2-01 at home to MILLWALL. United picked up goal number 27 while Millwall are now on 23. SOUTHEND hit goal number 15 as they drew 1-1 away to Gillingham. BLACKPOOL are now on 12 goals as they win 2-0 at home to Crewe. SWINDON drew 2-2 at home to Coventry to take their goals tally to 21. PETERBOROUGH stretch their goals run to six games as they win 4-0 at home to Doncaster. Borough are now on 33 goals. SCUNTHORPE are now on 20 goals as they win 3-0 away to CHESTERFIELD. Chesterfield picked up their 5th blank of the season. 

LEAGUE TWO
We have the top two teams here again this weekend with PLYMOUTH still on top as they win 2-1 away to LUTON. Plymouth are now on 24 goals while Luton are on 29. In second place we still have PORTSMOUTH as they drew 0-0 at home to Mansfield. Portsmouth picked up their 4th blank of the season. LEYTON ORIENT are down to sixth place this weekend as they win 1-0 away to Morecombe.  Orient are now on 27 goals. EXETER are on 26 goals as they drew 1-1 at home to Notts County. STEVENAGE lost 2-1 away to Northampton but they are now on 19 goals. It’s 18 goals for WYCOMBE as they drew 1-1 at home to Carlsile.

SCOTTISH LEAGUES
In the Scottish Premiership, ABERDEEN remain in second place after Celtic as they drew 1-1 at home to Motherwell. Aberdeen hit goal number 18. HEARTS are still in third place as they win 2-0 at home to Ross County. Hearts are now on 29 goals. In the Championship, RANGERS win their 11th league game out of eleven after they win just 1-0 away to St Mirren to pick up goal number 44. They are still our best team this weekend. HIBERNIAN won 2-1 away to Raith to take their goals total to 25. QUEEN OF THE SOUTH. hit goal number 16 as they lost 4-1 at home to Livingston. STENHOUSEMUIR picked up their 4th blank score sheet as they lost1-0 at home to Ayr.

In the WILLIAMS HILL SCOTTISH CUP second round games, we had three of our Scottish teams in action. QUEENS PARK was the only team to make it through to the next round as they win 2-0 away to non-league Stirling University. Queens are now on 17 goals. BERWICK lost 4-1 away to Anna to pick up their 18th goal of the season. CLYDE picked up their 6th blank of the season as they lost 2-0 away to non-league team Formartine Utd.

Our worst team this week is still WATFORD even though they picked up two goals this weekend. They have had a total of sixth blank score sheets out of eleven games played. They have still scored three goals in their last four games played.  

Our Best team this weekend is still RANGERS after scoring in all of their fourteen League/Cup games played they are on a total of 44 goals which is an average of three goals per game.

We have had three high scoring teams in our 33rd Season. From the Scottish Premiership CELTIC won 6-0 at home to Dundee in a league game in week seven while MANCHESTER CITY won 6-1 at home to Newcastle in the League in week nine. NEWCASTLES won 6-2 at home against Norwich in the League from week eleven.

We are left with just two teams that still have a 100% scoring record. They are WEST HAM and RANGERS

Wigan On Fire

We had thirty-seven of our Golden Goals teams in action over the last couple of days. Out of them thirteen failed to score any goals.

In the English Championship, BOLTON picked up another blank score sheet as they lost 1-0 away to Birmingham. Bolton have now had a total of eight blank score sheets and have now failed to score in their last two games. BRIGHTON are now on 20 goals this week as they win 2-1 at home against BRISTOL CITY. City picked up their 16th goal of the season. It’s 17 goals for CARDIFF as they win just 1-0 at home to MIDDLESBROUGH. Brough have now not scored in their last three games. CHARLTON picked up their fourth blank score sheet as they lost 3-0 at home to PRESTON. Preston are now on a total of 16 goals. MK DONS lost 2-0 away to Huddersfield and that was their 6th blank of the season. HULL picked up their biggest score of the season as they win 3-0 at home to IPSWICH. Hull are now on 21 goals and have now scored in all of their last seven games. Ipswich picked up their fourth blank score sheet and they have now scored just two goals in their last five games. After a two game dry spell for goals, NOTTINGHAM FOREST picked up their 13th goal of the season as they drew 1-1 at home to BURNLEY who are now on 17 goals. QPR drew 0-0 at home to Sheffield Wednesday and picked up their 3rd blank score sheet.
Last night DERBY drew 0-0 away to Blackburn to pick up blank number three while LEEDS drew 1-1 away to Fulham. Leeds goal now gives them a total of 12 goals. BRENTFORD are on 16 goals as they win 2-0 away to WOLVES. Wolves have now had four blanks out of fifteen games played this season.

In League One, BLACKPOOL drew 1-1 at home to MILLWALL and that gives them goal number ten while Millwall are now on 21 goals. What has happened to BURTON ALBION as they drew 0-0 at home to Crewe. Burton have now had five blank score sheets with the last three in a row. They have netted just one goal in their last five games. CHESTERFIELD are on 22 goals as they win 3-0 at home to SOUTHEND. Southend picked up their 7th blank score sheet. PORT VALE lost 2-1 away to Colchester and that was their 17th goal of the season. It’s 17 goals for SCUNTHORPE as they lost 2-1 away to Gillingham. WIGAN are on fire as they win 3-2 away to PETERBOROUGH and that gives them a total of 25 goals. Wigan have now scored ten goals in their last three games. Borough are now on 27 goals and they have scored in all of their last fifteen games. SHEFFIELD UNITED picked up another three goals in their 3-0 home win against Fleetwood. United are now on 26 goals. SWINDON picked up goal number 19 as they lost 2-1 at home to Oldham.

In League Two, LUTON drew 1-1 at home to LEYTON ORIENT to take their goals tally to 27 while Orient are now on 26. PLYMOUTH picked up their 2nd blank of the season as they lost 1-0 away to Oxford. PORTSMOUTH are on 25 goals as they drew 1-1 at home to STEVENAGE. Stevenage are now on 18 goals. WYCOMBE lost 2-0 at home to Newport to pick up blank number three. EXETER are on a total of 25 goals as they win 1-0 at home to Cambridge.

We have just one Scottish result and that was from Their Championship where FALKIRK lost 1-0 at home to HIBERNIAN. Falkirk picked up blank number three while Hibs take their goals tally to 21.

Week Eleven

We had another great weekend for goals from our Golden Goals teams but DANIEL GOODSON is at the top for his fourth weekend. Daniel’s combination of  teams picked him up seven goals this weekend from Manchester City 5, Middlesbrough 0 and Rangers 2. He is  just two goals clear of  RICHARD WILLIAMS who moves into second place after his teams picked him up a total of eleven goals this week. Richards teams are Hibernian, Manchester City and Rangers.

At the other end, JOHN NICHOLLS is in his tenth weekend at number 119 as his combination picked him up a total of nine goals this week

100 MIDWEEK GOALS JACKPOT
Although we had three for our Golden Goals teams in action this week, with only Bristol City picking up any goals, the race for the cash remains the same as last week as City have only three votes this season. CRAIG EVANS is in the lead this week with his teams of  Hearts, Manchester City and Middlesbrough. Craig has a total of 34 goals. In joint second place both with 31 goals we have DANIEL GOODSON and MICK LIDDLE. BARBARA BARNES (2) and TONY KING are still in third place both on 29 goals. In fourth place is TOM MACDONALD and JAMES HUNTER both are on 28 goals In fifth place both on 27 goals we now have MALCOLM CORMACK and MARK HOWARD In sixth place we have CHRIS SETFORD on 26 goals.end. His teams are Arsenal, Bolton and  Newcastle.

This weekend we had our second Rollover of the season with a Jackpot of £10 and all that lovely money went to our 14th winner of the season TERRY WARWICK on a total of 12 goals. Terry has been with Golden Goals for a while now and last season he finished on a total of 268 goals which left him in 33rd place out of 106. He also had three weekend wins collecting nearly nine pounds in cash. But this weekend we see Terry at his highest position for this season at number 82. This is also his highest score to date. Terry has also had two blank score sheets. His teams are

Our highest score came from the English Premiership where NEWCASTLE picked up their highest score of the season by winning 6-2 at home to NORWICH. Newcastle have only one vote this season and they are now on a total of 16 goals. Newcastle have not started off this season very well and they are now third from bottom of the table Newcastle are in their twenty-seventh season with Golden Goals and they first appeared in our first season of 1983/84 and was our seventh most voted team.They finished on a total of 87 goals. Their  highest score to date is 105 goals back in our 1992/93 Season. They last appeared in Golden Goals back in our 2012/13 Season with just 46 goals. They have netted a total of 1,807 goals over the years which gives them an average score of 66 goals per season to date.Norwich take their goals tally to 19 goals.

PRESTON drew 0-0 at home to CARDIFF to pick up their 4th blank while Cardiff picked up their 2nd. CHARLTON lost 1-0 away to Reading and picked up blank number three for them. HULL picked up another single goal as they drew 1-1 away to Sheffield Wednesday. Hull are now on 18 goals. DERBY picked up their biggest score of the season as they beat WOLVES 4-2 at home.  Derby are now on 17 goals while Wolves are on 21.

Swindon picked up their 4th blank of the season. PORT VALE drew 1-1 at home to PETERBOROUGH and that was their 16th goal of the season to Boroughs 27th. SCUNTHORPE are now on 16 goals as they win 2-1 at home against Shrewsbury. SOUTHEND won 2-1 at home to Barnsley and are now on 14 goals while CHESTERFIELD are on 19 goals as they win 2-1 away to Walsall. WIGAN picked up their biggest score of the season as they won 5-0 at home to Colchester. Wigan are now on 22 goals.

SCOTTISH LEAGUES

With Aberdeen in second place, HEARTS are third as they win 1-0 away to Dundee UTD. Hearts are now on 27 goals. In the Championship, HIBERNIAN picked up their biggest score of the season as they win 4-2 at home to Dumbarton. Hibs are now on 22 goals. RANGERS keep their 100% scoring record going as they win 2-1 at home to QUEEN OF THE SOUTH. Rangers are now on 43 goals while Queen of South hit goal number 15. It’s 18 for FALKIRK as they win 1-0 at home to Morton.In the other leagues, STENHOUSEMUIR are on 16 goals as they drew 2-2 away to Cowdenbeath. QUEENS PARK picked up goal number 15 as they lost 2-1 away to Annan. BERWICK drew 1-1 at home to East Fife and that was their 17th goal of the season. CLYDE picked up their 5th blank of the season as they lost 1-0 at home to Stirling.

Our worst team this week is still WATFORD as they have picked up sixth blank score sheets out of ten games played. They have scored three goals in their last four games played.  

Our Best team this weekend is still RANGERS after scoring in all of their thirteen League/Cup games played they are on a total of 43 goals which is an average of three goals per game.

We now have three high scoring teams in our 33rd Season. From the Scottish Premiership CELTIC won 6-0 at home to Dundee in a league game in week seven while MANCHESTER CITY won 6-1 at home to Newcastle in the League in week nine. We can now add NEWCASTLE'S 6-2 home win against Norwich in the League from week eleven.

We have just three teams left that still have a 100% scoring record. They are MANCHESTER CITY, WEST HAM, and and RANGERS.

Second Win For City


We are just over half way through the first half of our 33rd Season here with Golden Goals and last night, after a very quiet few weeks of football, we had three of our teams in action.
From the English Championship, BRISTOL CITY took on NOTTINGHAM FOREST and won their second league game of the season with a 2-0 home win. That now puts Bristol into 19th position in the table and a total of 15 goals scored. Forest picked up their 4th blank of the season and they have now failed to score any goals in their last two games.

In the Scottish Premiership, top of the table ABERDEEN took on Ross County away and lost 2-0. Although it is Aberdeen’s second blank score sheet of the season, they have now scored just two goals in their last four games.

Week Ten

Not much has happened over the week here with Golden Goals but with the few games that have been played over the weekend, there as been a bit of a change in the table.
DANIEL GOODSON is at the top again for his third weekend. Daniel’s combination of  teams did not have any games this week but he has now picked up his second blank of the season.  His teams are Manchester City, Middlesbrough and Rangers and he is  still three goal clear of  TOM MACDONALD who also had now games this week.

At the other end, JOHN NICHOLLS is in his ninth weekend at number 119 as his combination also had no games this week. John also picks up his second blank at the weekends. His teams are Arsenal, Bolton and  Newcastle.

100 MIDWEEK GOALS JACKPOT
With no games at all for our Golden Goals teams this week, the race for the cash remains the same as last weeks.CRAIG EVANS is in the lead this week but none of his teams were in action in midweek. His teams are  Hearts, Manchester City and Middlesbrough. Craig has a total of 34 goals. In joint second place both with 31 goals we have DANIEL GOODSON and MICK LIDDLE. BARBARA BARNES (2) and TONY KING are still in third place both on 29 goals. In fourth place is TOM MACDONALD and JAMES HUNTER both are on 28 goals In fifth place on 27 goals is MARK HOWARD In sixth place we have CHRIS SETFORD on 26 goals.

WEEKEND RESULTS                       
Only thirty of you managed to pick up some more goals this weekend with only sixteen of our teams that did manage to play, only two failed to net any goals.
Our highest score came from League One where SCUNTHORPE picked up their highest score of the season by winning 4-2 away to Oldham. Scunthorpe have only one vote again this season and they are now on 14 goals.
Scunthorpe are in their seventh season with Golden Goals and they first appeared in our 2002/03 Season finishing on a total of 76 goals which is their highest score to date. They have been in the last six seasons with us with the last two ending on a score of 69 goals. They have netted a total of 393 goals over the years which gives them an average score of 56 goals per season to date.

LEAGUE ONE
BURTON ALBION have moved down to second place this weekend as they lost 2-0 away to Walsall who go top. Burton have picked up their third blank of the season and they have now netted just one goal in their last three games. SHEFFIELD UNITED have moved up to sixth place as they 3-2 at home to Rochdale. United are now on 22 goals. WIGAN drew 2-2 away to Bury and that now gives them a total of 17 goals. SOUTHEND picked up their 12th goal of the season as they win 1-0 at home to PORT VALE. Port Vale picked up their 6th blank score sheet of the season. PETERBOROUGH won 2-1 away to SWINDON and that gives them a total of 26 goals to Swindon’s 18. CHESTERFIELD are on 17 as they lost 3-1 at home to Gillingham.

LEAGUE TWO
We have just the top two teams here this weekend with PLYMOUTH still on top as they win 2-0 away to Notts County. Plymouth are now on 21 goals. Up to second place we have PORTSMOUTH as they win 3-1 away to Cambridge. Portsmouth are now on a total of 23 goals. LEYTON ORIENT are right down to seventh place this weekend as they 3-2 away to Crawley.  Orient are now on 23 goals. It’s 26 goals for LUTON as they drew 1-1 at home to York. And what a game this must have been as STEVENAGE who have not scored in their last three games, drew 3-3 away to EXETER. This is their highest score of the season and they are now on 15 goals while Exeter are now on 24.

SCOTTISH LEAGUES
We had just one of our Scottish teams in action over the weekend. They were QUEEN OF THE SOUTH from the Championship. They won 1-0 at home to Morton and that gives them their 14th goal of the season after a two game dry spell for goals.

Our worst team this week is still WATFORD as they have picked up five blank score sheets out of nine games played. They have scored four goals in their last four games played.  

Our Best team this weekend is still RANGERS after scoring in all of their twelve League/Cup games played they are on a total of 40 goals which is an average of three goals per game.

We have had two high scoring teams in our 33rd Season from the Scottish Premiership CELTIC won 6-0 at home to Dundee in a league game in week seven while MANCHESTER CITY can add their name to the list as they won 6-1 at home to Newcastle in the League in week nine.

We still have just  teams left that still have a 100% scoring record. They are MANCHESTER CITY, WEST HAM, and and RANGERS
