Week Forty-One

It’s Week Forty-One of Season 34 and  most of our Golden Goals teams have now finished their season. We have five of our players that have finished their season and can now only wait to see how far they will fall down the table if at all.
Although most of you picked up some more midweek goals twenty-nine of you failed to pick any goals up at the weekend for one reason or another. So hang on to your hats as the next couple of weeks are going to be a very bumpy ride.

100 MIDWEEK GOALS JACKPOT
We now have thirty-three players that have now scored 100 or more midweek goals and we hope that we can get a few more by the end of the season.
DARYL NICHOLLS is still leading on a total of 131 goals this week. In second place on 122 goals is still LUCIFER the Cat or John Wood. In third place is GRANT PHILLIPS with 118 goals and in fourth place we have STEVEN CADWELL now on 115 goals. So we are back in that scenario that Daryl could beat our highest midweek score set by Paul Davey in our 2013/14 Season with a total of 132 goals as Daryl needs just two goals to beat that long standing record.

WEEKEND RESULTS
We only had sixteen of our teams in action over the weekend,  and the good news is that only two of them failed to pick up any goals. The highest score that we had over the weekend was four goals and they both came from the English Premiership.
They came from ARSENAL in fifth place in the league as they win 4-1 away to STOKE. Arsenal are now on a total of 94 goals while Stoke picked up goal number 45. LIVERPOOL also picked up four goals in their 4-0 away win over WEST HAM. As Liverpool take their goals tally to 89, West ham picked up their tenth blank of the season and now just one goal in their last four games.

 PREMIERSHIP
Champions Chelsea had no game this week and they are seven points in front of TOTTENHAM in second place after they won 2-1 at home to MANCHESTER UNITED. Tottenham are now on a total of 96 goals while United picked up goal number 76.  In third place is Liverpool with MANCHESTER CITY in fourth place as they win 2-1 at home to LEICESTER CITY. Manchester City take their goals tally up to 90 goals while Leicester are on 55 goals. BOURNEMOUTH are now on 58 goals as they win 2-1 at home to Burnley while SOUTHAMPTON also won 2-1 away to Middlesbrough to take their goals tally to 53 after a three games dry spell for goals.

CHAMPIONSHIP Semi-finals 1st Leg Play-off
We had just one of the four teams here that were playing in the play-off and they are SHEFFIELD WEDNESDAY. They had to play Huddersfield and they drew 0-0 away to them. Wednesday picked up their ninth blank of the season after a goal run of eight games.

LEAGUE TWO Semi-finals 1st Leg Play-off
In the Play-off  we once again only have one team and they are LUTON. They were away to Blackpool in the first leg and they lost 3-2. Luton have not had a bad season and they are now on a total of 85 goals and they have now scored in all of their last eleven games.

SCOTTISH RESULTS
In the Scottish Premiership RANGERS in third place won 2-1 at home to Hearts and they are now on 83 goals. St JOHNSTONE in fourth place won 1-0 at home to Partick to pick up goal number 64. KILMARNOCK won 2-1 at home to Inveness CT and they are now on a total of 39 goals.

In the Scottish League One Play-off Semi-final 2nd leg, PETERHEAD drew their first tie with Montrose 1-1 and they made sure of of their second leg game by winning 3-0 to win 4-1 on aggregate. Peterhead are now on a total of 56 goals and they will be playing Forfar in the final 1st leg on 17th May.

Our Best Three Teams Are

CELTIC (125) SHEFFIELD UNITED (101) NEWCASTLE (100) Total of 326 goals

Our Worst Three Teams Are

OLDHAM (37) KILMARNOCK (39) STOKE (45) Total of 121 goals

Our Best team on form is still CELTIC after they have scored in all of their forty-four League and Cup games played and netting a total of 125 goals which still gives them an average score of 2.8 goals per game.

OLDHAM  have picked up the most number of blank score sheets this season with a total of twenty-six out of their fifty league and cup games played.

Our highest goal scorers in our 34th Season are  HIBERNIAN after they won 8-1 away to non-league team Bonnyrigg Ross in the Fourth Round of the Scottish WILLIAM HILL CUP in Week Twenty-Five.

JUNE TIGHE is in her eleventh weekend at the top as she picks up a total of three goals all from midweek.  June only had Celtic left with games. Her other teams were Newcastle and Sheffield United. June’s lead has now been cut to two goals clear of Stephen Stubbs who has moved back in to second place this weekend. June has also remained in 7th place in our Champions League.

At the other end at number 136 we still have KATHY SOMERVILLE who picked up two goals from her only team left with games, Tottenham. Her other teams were Oldham and Yeovil. Kathy has now been at number 136 for a total of twenty-one weeks over the season. She is now just two goals behind Jason Cooper who has finished playing this season with his three teams. Kathy has remained in 10th place in our Loser’s League again this weekend.
