Week Fourteen

In Week Fourteen of the competition we have our twenty-third winner of the season who collected the whole cash prize money of £6 as they win on a score of 13 goals. With their very first win of the season it goes to PHIL COLLINS.
Phil has been with us for thirteen season where he started back in the 2004/05 Season. Phil then finished in 45th place out of 105 on a total of 266 goals. He won a Rollover of £10 in cash at the weekend. Last Season, Phil finished in 99th place on a total of 265 goals. This season Phil has picked up his personal best score and this is the highest that he has been all season. He has had just one blank score sheet to date. His best team is Celtic.

100 MIDWEEK GOALS JACKPOT
About half of us managed to pick up some midweek goals but it was LUCIFER (John Wood) who picked up the most with a total of seven goals. They came from Aston Villa two, Burton Albion two and Bolton three. Lucifer is now on a midweek total of 32 goals.
The race for the cash has completely changed this week and here is how the leaders are now. In first place on 42 goals and two goals clear is JULIE SOMERVILLE up from fourth place to take the lead with eleven players  in second place all on 40 goals. They are JAMES BLYTH, SIMON DICKINSON, MATT DORAN, GUY DOWSETT (2), PHIL FRANCKSEN, TONY GUY (2), TONY KING, GRAHAM PHILLIPS, CHRIS SETFORD, DAVE WOOD and RICKY WOOD. In third place on 39 goals we have STEPHEN LEADER and (Me) STEVE REEVE. In fourth place we have this week MIKE HARRINGTON, DAVE SOMERVILLE and ALICE STUBBS all on 38 goals.

WEEKEND RESULTS
This weekend the average score shot back up from four goals from last weekend to 7 goals this weekend.  All but one of us picked up some goals. We had six teams with no game at the weekend and another thirteen that failed to score any goals.
The highest score that we had over the weekend came from the FA CUP First Round where DONCASTER picked up their highest score of the season with a 6-2 away to non-league Ebbsfleet.  Doncaster are though to the next round and they have taken their goals total to 29.
Doncaster are in their sixth season with Golden Goals and they are our 100th English team to play in our competition. They started with us in the 2003/04 Season where they finished on a total of 84 goals. Their highest score came last season with a total of 87 goals. Over the season’s they have netted a total of 375 goals which gives them an average score of 62 goals per season to date. They have three votes this season.

FA CUP First Round
The first round has now been played and we had eighteen of our teams in action of which three we already know their progress in this competition. Out of the other sixteen that played over the weekend, ten have made it through to the next round with another two involved in replays. Four went out of the cup.
The teams through are CHARLTON as they win 3-1 at home to non-league team Truro and that takes their goals total to 29. COVENTRY won 2-0 at home to non-league Maidenhead and they are now on 20 goals. EXETER are on 27 goals as they win 3-1 at home to  non-league Heybridge. BLACKBURN will be joining them as they win 3-1 at home to Barnet. Blackburn are now on a total of 27 goals. BRADFORD are on 29 as they win 2-0 at home to Chesterfield. FOREST GREEN won 1-0 at home to Macclesfield and that was their 17th goal of the season. After a two game dry spell for goals, LUTON are through as they win 1-0 at home to PORTSMOUTH who go out. As Luton picked up goal number 35, Portsmouth picked up their sixth blank of the season and now three in a row. PLYMOUTH won 1-0 at home to Grimsby to pick up their 13th goal.  MANSFIELD won 3-1 away to non-league Shaw Lane and they are now on 25 goals. WIGAN are on 34 as they win 2-1 at home to Crawley. The teams in replays are SCUNTHORPE who drew 0-0 away to Northampton to pick up their seventh blank of the season and PETERBOROUGH who drew 1-1 at home to non-league Tramere. Borough are now on 27 goals.  Teams that also went out are Lincoln City who lost 1-0 away to AFC Wimbledon to pick up their eighth blank score sheet and now three in a row. COLCHESTER lost 1-0 at home to non-league Oxford City and that was their fifth blank while SOUTHEND lost 1-0 away to Yeovil and that was their sixth blank of the season.

PREMIERSHIP
Are MANCHESTER CITY already Champions as they win again 3-1 at home to ARSENAL. City have taken their goals tally to 40 goals and they are now eight points clear at the top of the premiership. Arsenal have now dropped down to sixth place on 23 goals. MANCHESTER UNITED are still in second place as they lost 1-0 away to CHELSEA still in fourth place. United picked up their second blank of the season while Chelsea hit goal number 26. TOTTENHAM are still in third place as they win 1-0 at home to CRYSTAL PALACE. Tottenham are on 23 goals while Palace picked up their ninth blank score sheet. LIVERPOOL are now in fifth place as they win 4-1 away to WEST HAM. Liverpool are now on 21 goals to West Ham’s 19. EVERTON are on 14 goals as they win 3-2 at home to Watford after going two goals down. WEST BROM picked up their fourth blank score sheet as they lost 1-0 away to Huddersfield. BOURNEMOUTH won 1-0 away to NEWCASTLE to score goal number 13 while Newcastle picked up their fifth blank and now two in a row. It’s 25 goals for LEICESTER CITY as they drew 2-2 away to Stoke.

CHAMPIONSHIP
We still have the top three teams here with Wolves still top of the table. SHEFFIELD UNITED are in second place as they win 4-1 at home to HULL. United and Hull are both on a total of 28 goals. CARDIFF are still in third place after they lost 2-1 away to Bristol City. Cardiff are now on 25 goals. MIDDLEBROUGFH are now on 27 goals as they win 1-0 at home to SUNDERLAND who have now had a total of five blank score sheets. ASTON VILLA lost 2-1 at home to Sheffield Wednesday and they are now on 28 goals while BIRMINGHAM lost 2-0 away to Barnsley to pick up their ninth blank score sheet and now no goals in their last four games. BOLTON beat NORWICH 2-1 at home to give them a total of 18 goals to Norwich’s 26. BRENTFORD won 3-1 at home to LEEDS to take their goals total to 33. Brentford have now scored in all of their last eleven games. Leeds picked up goal number 36. READING picked up their highest score of the season as they win 4-2 away to Derby and they are now on 23 goals. IPSWICH are now on 29 goals as they win 3-0 at home to Preston. BURTON ALBION beat Millwall 1-0 away. Albion are now on 16 goals. QUEENS PARK RANGERS lost 4-0 away to Nottingham Forest to get their third blank of the season.

SCOTTISH RESULTS
In the Scottish Premiership CELTIC have extended their goals run to fifteen games as they win 4-0 away to St Johnstone. Celtic still with that 100% scoring record are now on a total of 42 goals and now three points clear of  ABERDEEN who drew 2-2 away to Hamilton. Aberdeen are now on a total of 21 goals. RANGERS drop down to fourth place behind Hibs as they win 3-0 at home to Partick. Rangers take their goals tally up to 36.
In the Championship, FALKIRK second from bottom drew 1-1 at home to Dunfermline and they are now on 23 goals.  In League One RAITH ROVERS drop down to second place on goal difference as they win 1-0 at home to East Fife. Rovers are on 35 goals and have now scored in all of their last fourteen games. In League Two PETERHEAD are still in third place as they win 2-1 away to ELGIN CITY. Peterhead are now on 39 goals while Elgin picked up their sixth blank of the season. STENHOUSEMUIR are still in fourth place as they drew 1-1 at home to Clyde and that takes their goals tally  up to 22.

Our Best team is now CELTIC who have now scored in all of their fifteen League/Cup games played with a total of 42 goals.

BIRMINGHAM, BURTON ALBION, CRYSTAL PALACE and DONCASTER have all picked up nine blank score sheets each.

Our highest goal scoring team in our 35th Season is PETERHEAD from the Scottish League Two. They picked up our highest score in week eleven as they won 9-0 at home to non-league team Colville Park in the WILLIAM HILL CUP Second Round. 

CHRIS BOOM is celebrating his fourth consecutive week at the top as his combination picked him up a total of 9 goals all coming from the weekend. He has Celtic, Manchester City and Peterhead. Alex Davey has moved up to second place but he is three goals behind Chris as his combination  also picked him up a total 9 goals for the week. Alex has the combination of Celtic, Leeds United and Manchester City.
At the other end moving back down to 149 we have COLIN PINDER who is now spending his third weekend out of fourteen played in our 35th Season. His teams failed to pick him up any goals this week. The last time he was at 149 was in week three. Colin has Colchester, Crystal Palace and Southend.
