Week Five

In Week Five of the competition and this weekend we had a total of seven players who picked up the weekends highest score of 7 goals each. That means that we will have our second Rollover of the season.  The players are T. GUY (2), M. HARRINGTON, G.  HARRIS, E. NEWMAN, D. NICHOLLS, C. SETFORD and J. WILLIAMS.

100 MIDWEEK GOALS JACKPOT
Under half of you managed to picked up some more midweek goals this week with another four players picking up the highest score with seven goals each. They were Barbara Barnes (1), Daniel Goodson, June Tighe and Ann Wellard.
GRAHAM HARRIS has moved back to the top this week after his combination picked him up a total of five goals. Graham is now on a total of 20 goals. He has Hearts, Tottenham and West Brom. Down to second place and four goals behind Graham we have last weeks leader GARY BROWN still with 16 goals. Gary has Ayr Utd, Manchester City and Sunderland.
In third place up from four we have MARTIN CORBETT with 15 goals. In fourth place on 14 goals and up from five we have RYAN WILLIAMS. In joint fifth place all on 13 goals we have DANIEL GOODSON, JUNE TIGHE and ANN WELLARD.

WEEKEND RESULTS
Another very quite weekend for goals this week as our average score for this weekend remained at just 4 goals for the second weekend running. So if your combination picked up more than that, then you have done well.
We had just one of our teams that had no game over the weekend and another twelve that failed to score any goals.
The highest score came from the Scottish leagues where  HEARTS in the Premiership won their fourth game of the season with a 4-1 home win over St Mirren. Hearts have scored in all of their nine games played keeping their 100% record intact and they are on a total of 24 goals. Our other high scorer was RAITH ROVERS from League One. They won 4-0 at home to Forfar and they are now on a total of 15 goals.

PREMIERSHIP
The Premiership have now played their fourth league game of the season and LIVERPOOL have remained top after they won their fourth league game, 2-1 away to LEICESTER CITY.  Liverpool are now on a total of 9 goals keeping their 100% goal record on track. Leicester scored their 10th goal of the season. In second place in the league is still CHELSEA after they won 2-0 at home to BOURNEMOUTH.  Chelsea are now on 10 goals and they have also won all of their four games. Bournemouth picked up their first blank of the season. MANCHESTER CITY are still in fourth place after they won 2-1 at home to Newcastle. City have taken their goals total to 11 goals. FULHAM drew 2-2 away to Brighton and that takes their goals tally up to 9 goals. It’s 10 goals for EVERTON as they drew 1-1 at home to Huddersfield. WEST HAM are still without a win and still rock bottom as they lost 1-0 at home to WOLVES. As West Ham picked up their second blank score sheet of the season, Wolves hit goal number six. MANCHESTER UNITED won their second league game 2-0 away to Burnley. United are now on 6 goals. ARSENAL won 3-2 away to Cardiff and they are now on a total of 8 goals. TOTTENHAM are on 9 goals as they lost 2-1 away to Watford.

CHAMPIONSHIP
After six games LEEDS UNITED have remained top after they picked up their two blank score sheet during midweek.  DERBY are next in fourth place after they won 2-1 away to HULL. Derby have kept their 100% scoring record going after eight games. They are on a total of 16 goals. Hull picked up goal number seven after a dry spell of two games. BLACKBURN lost 4-1 away to Bristol City and they are now on 16 goals. IPSWICH have moved off the bottom of the league after they drew 1-1 at home to rivals Norwich. Ipswich are now on 6 goals. BIRMINGHAM drew 0-0 at home to Queens Park Rangers and that is their fifth blank of the season. BRENTFORD won 2-1 at home to NOTTINGHAM FOREST and they are now on 17 goals to Forest’s total of 12. After a two game dry spell for goals, SWANSEA won 2-1 away to Millwall. Swansea are on a total of 7 goals. ASTON VILLA lost 4-1 away to Sheffield United and that is their 12th goal of the season. WEST BROM won 2-1 at home to STOKE and they are on 18 goals while Stoke picked up goal number nine. ROTHERHAM picked up their second blank of the season as they lost 1-0 away to Wigan.

LEAGUE ONE
PETERBOROUGH have remained top here on goal difference as they drew 1-1 at home to Doncaster. Borough are now on 16 goals. PORTSMOUTH are now in second place as they win 3-0 at home to PLYMOUTH. Portsmouth are now on 13 goals while Plymouth picked up their second blank score sheet and are now bottom of the league. SUNDERLAND are down to fourth place after they drew 1-1 at home to Oxford Utd. Sunderland are now on 13 goals. ACCRINGTON STANLEY drew 1-1 at home to SCUNTHORPE and they are on a total of 9 goals to Scunthorpe’s 7. BARNSLEY are on 15 goals this weekend after they won 2-1 at home to Gillingham. It’s 10 goals for BURTON ALBION after they picked up their highest result of the season as they win 3-0 at home to AFC Wimbledon. COVENTRY lost 1-0 at home to ROCHDALE to pick up their fourth balnk score sheet and now just one goal in their last three games. Rochdale picked up their 10th goal of the season. SHREWSBURY drew 1-1 at home to BRISTOL ROVERS and they are now on 5 goals while Rovers are on 9. SOUTHEND lost 2-1 at home to CHARLTON and they are now on 9 goals Charlton after a two game dry spell are now on 6 goals. WYCOMBE drew 1-1 at home to LUTON and they are both now on a total of 8 goals each.

LEAGUE TWO
LINCOLN CITY are still top here this weekend as they win their fifth league game 3-0 away to EXETER. Lincoln have now scored in all of their eight games this season and are now on a total of 19 goals. Exeter picked up their third consecutive blank score sheet. MK DONS are now down to third place as they drew 1-1 away to SWINDON. Mk Dons are on a total of 9 goals while Swindon are on 11 goals. MANSFIELD are on 15 goals as they win 1-0 at home to Carlisle. NOTTS COUNTY are now bottom of the league as they lost 3-1 at home to Forest Green. OLDHAM won 2-1 at home to Crawley and they take their goals tally up to 9. 

SCOTTISH LEAGUES
In the Scottish Premiership, Hearts have remained top with their win with CELTIC still in second place after they beat their rivals RANGERS 1-0 at home. Celtic are now on 8 goals while Rangers picked up their first blank of the season.
HAMILTON lost 2-1 at home to St Johnstone and they are now on 8 goals. ABERDEEN picked up their first blank score sheet after they lost 2-0 at home to third place Kilmarnock. HIBERNIAN lost 2-1 away to Livingston and that is their 9th goal of the season and they still have a 100% scoring record after five games.
In the Championship, ROSS COUNTY are top here this weekend as they win 2-0 at home to FALKIRK. County are now on 15 goals and a goal run of nine games. Falkirk picked up their fifth blank and now two in a row. AYR UNITED picked up their second blank of the season as they lost 5-0 away to Queen of South. ALLOA drew 1-1at home against Dundee Utd. Alloa are now on 11 goals.  
In League One, Raith Rovers are still in second place here this weekend. STENHOUSEMUIR won 2-1 at home to DUMBARTON and they are now on 8 goals to Dumbarton’s 9.   
In League Two, PETERHEAD have fallen down to second place this weekend after they lost 1-0 at home to Edinburgh to pick up their fifth blank of the season.

So lets have a look at our BEST three teams this week with Golden Goals. They are

OUR WORST THREE TEAMS ARE

COVENTRY (3) BIRMINGHAM (4) FALKIRK (5) Total of 12 goals

Our Best team is HEARTS after scoring in all of their nine League and Cup games with a total of 24 goals.

Our worst team is BIRMINGHAM this weekend as they have picked up a total of five blank score sheets out of seven league and cup games played this season.They have scored just two goals in their last six games.

Our highest goal scorers in our 36th Season are WEST BROM who won 7-1 at home to Queens Park Rangers in their fourth league game of the season.  

Graham Harris  has bounced back to the top this weekend making it four weeks at the top. Graham picked up a total of twelve goals this week. Five of the goals came from midweek and the other seven at the weekend from Hearts 4, Tottenham 1 and West Brom 2. He is now six goals in front of last weekend leader Gary Brown who picked up just three goals from
Ayr United 0, Manchester City 2 and Sunderland 1.
At the other end at 133 we have our fifth player to stay there and they are John Filtness who picked up a total of three goals at the weekend. He has Birmingham, Hamilton and Liverpool.
