Great Night for Golden Goals Fans

In the English Premiership, LIVERPOOL have remained top as they win 5-0 at home against Watford. The five goals have taken their goals tally up to 66. MANCHESTER CITY won 1-0 at home to WEST HAM and it took them an hour to score that single goal. City are one point behind Liverpool and it is their 107th goal of the season but only one goal in their last two games. West Ham picked up their eleventh blank of the season. TOTTENHAM are still in third place but they lost 2-0 away to London rivals CHELSEA. Chelsea after a three game dry spell for goals, are now on a total of 60 goals while Tottenham picked up their fourth blank score sheet. ARSENAL are in fourth place after they won 5-1 at home to BOURNEMOUTH. Arsenal are now on 69 goals to Bournemouth’s 48. MANCHESTER UNITED are in fifth place after they won 3-1 away to Crystal Palace. United are now on a total of 64 goals. FULHAM picked up their thirteenth blank of the season and now just one goal in their last four games as they lost 2-0 away to Southampton.

In the Scottish Premiership, leaders CELTIC won 2-1 away to HEARTS and they are now on a total of 82 goals while Hearts are on 58 goals. Still eight points behind the leaders, RANGERS won 4-0 at home to Dundee which takes their goals tally to 79. ABERDEEN are still in third place but they lost 2-0 at home to HAMILTON. As Aberdeen picked up their eighth blank of the season, Hamilton are now on 24 goals. HIBERNIAN won 2-1 away to St Johnstone and they are now on a total of 52 goals.

Leeds United Remain Third In Championship

In the English Premiership, after a two game dry spell for goals, EVERTON won 3-0 away to Cardiff and that has taken their goals tally up to 44. WOLVES lost 1-0 away to Huddersfield and that is their ninth blank score sheet of the season. It’s 40 goals for LEICESTER CITY as they win 2-1 at home to Brighton.

In the Championship, LEEDS UNITED failed to go back on top after they lost 1-0 away to Queens Park Rangers. That is Leeds fourth blank of the season. BIRMINGHAM won 2-1 away to Bristol City and they are now on a total of 53 goals. It’s 50 goals for HULL as they win 2-1 at home against Millwall.  After a goal run of ten games, BRENTFORD picked up their sixth blank score sheet as they lost 2-0 away to Sheffield Wednesday.

In League One, SHREWSBURY won 2-0 at home to Doncaster and they are now on a total of  52 goals.

In League Two, leaders LINCOLN CITY drew 1-1 at home to EXETER and they are now on 71 goals while Exeter hit goal number 49.

In the Scottish Championship, ROSS COUNTY won 3-2 at home to AYR UNITED. Both County and United are now on a total of 60 goals each.

In League One, DUMBARTON drew 2-2 at home against RAITH ROVERS. Dumbarton are now on 45 goals to Rovers 65. STENHOUSEMUIR are on 35 goals after they drew 1-1 away to Stranraer.

In League Two, PETERHEAD won 1-0 at home to Cowdenbeath to bring their goals total up to 52.

Forest up to Eighth Place

In the English Championship, NOTTINGHAM FOREST beat DERBY 1-0 at home which gives them goal number 56. Derby have picked up their ninth blank of the season and now two games without a goal.

Week Thirty

In Week Thirty of the competition we had our thirtieth winner of the season, GARY BOLBERY who won on a total of 12 goals to pick up the full £6 cash prize money. Gary started with Golden Goals in our 1998/99 Season where he finished in the winning frame in 10th place on 293 goals. But over the years, Gary has been in and out of the competition. Last season he finished in 76th place on 268 goals. This season he has been as high as fourth place and that was in Week One. This is his person best score of the season and he has picked up a total of two blank score sheets to date. Celtic is his best team.

100 MIDWEEK GOALS JACKPOT
Just under half of us managed to pick up some goals in midweek this week. The highest score that we had was with nine goals and they went to AVA & AUBREY CLARK and COLIN WEBB. The girls Ava and Aubrey have Arsenal, Rangers and Sunderland which takes their midweek total up to 57 goals while Colin has Manchester City, Rangers and Sunderland. These brings his midweek goals total up to 67. So the race for the cash has a slight change again this week. This week we have added four more players with 50 or more midweek goals and this week it has moved up to a total of 119.
This week we still have GRAHAM HARRIS at the top and he needs just eleven goals to win the cash as he picks up another three goals from West Brom. Graham has Hearts, Tottenham and West Brom and a total of 89 goals. JUNE TIGHE has remained in second place and with a total of 85 goals. June has Derby, Manchester City and Tottenham. In third place and moving back into the race we have JOHN DAVIES with 84 goals. In joint fourth place both on 82 goals we have KELLIE STRATTON up from five and JAMIE WOOD down from three. In fifth place with a total of 81 goals we DANNY HARRINGTON down from four.

WEEKEND RESULTS
We had just fifty-six of our teams in action over weekend with thirteen of them failing to score any goals. We had another six teams that had no game. So the weekends average score remained as last weekend’s of 5 goals this weekend. Most of us managed to pick up some goals this weekend but there has been a lot of movement this week.
The highest score that we had came from three of our teams with five goals each. They were BRENTFORD, PLYMOUTH and RANGERS.

Carabao Cup Final
The first silver wear for our English teams goes to MANCHESTER CITY after they drew 0-0 with CHELSEA in the first 90 minutes of the cup final and it remained that after extra time had been played. City then went on to win 4-3 on penalties, which do not count in our competition. So this means that after a goal run of seventeen games, City have picked up their third blank score sheet of the season. Chelsea picked up their tenth and now no goals in their last three games.

PREMIERSHIP
LIVERPOOL are now just one point in front of Manchester City after they drew 0-0 away to MANCHESTER UNITED in fourth place. After a goal run of nineteen games, Liverpool have pick up blank number two. United after a sixteen game goal run, picked up their third blank of the season. TOTTENHAM have remained in third place after they lost 2-1 away to Burnley. They are now on 71 goals. ARSENAL are in fourth place as they win 2-0 at home to Southampton. The Gunners are now on a total of 64 goals. After a two game dry spell for goals, BOURNEMOUTH are now on 47 goals as they drew 1-1 at home to WOLVES who picked up goal number 45. LEICESTER CITY are now on 38 goals but they lost 4-1 at home to on form Crystal Palace.

CHAMPIONSHIP
LEEDS UNITED are still in third place even though they won 2-1 at home to Bolton. Leeds are now on a total of 58 goals. WEST BROM come next still in fourth place as they lost 1-0 at home to second place Sheffield United. That is West Broms sixth blank of the season. BIRMINGHAM drew 2-2 at home to BLACKBURN ROVERS and that takes their goals tally up to 51 while Rovers are on 59. BRENTFORD have picked up another five goals in their 5-1 home win against HULL. Brentford are now on 69 goals while Hull picked up goal number 48. ROTHETHAM drew again 1-1 away to Reading but they are now on 37 goals. SWANSEA lost 3-1 away to Sheffield Wednesday to pick up goal number 54. STOKE drew 1-1 at home to ASTON VILLA. Stoke are now on 42 goals as Villa, after a two game dry spell, picked up goal number 58. Bottom of the table IPSWICH, drew 1-1 away to Wigan and they are now on a total of 27 goals.

LEAGUE ONE
We still have the top five here with LUTON still top after they drew 1-1 at home to COVENTRY. Luton have taken their goals tally up to 70 goals while Coventry are on 39. BARNSLEY are still in second place and five points behind Luton after they drew 0-0 away to PORTSMOUTH. Barnsley have now picked up a total of eight blank score sheets and now two in a row while Portsmouth picked up their sixth and in fourth place. SUNDERLAND are up to third place after they won 2-0 away to BRISTOL ROVERS. Sunderland with four goals in midweek, are now on 62 goals. Rovers picked up their fourteenth blank score sheet. CHARLTON are still in fifth place as they win 2-1 away to AFC Wimbledon. Charlton are now on 56 goals. PLYMOUTH picked up their highest result of the season after they won 5-1 at home to ROCHDALE. Plymouth have taken their goals total up to 50 goals while Rochdale hit goal number 47. It’s 40 goals for ACCRINGTON STANLEY as they drew 1-1 at home to SOUTHEND who are now on a total of 55.  BURTON ALBION lost 1-0 at home against Fleetwood and that is their eleventh blank and now two in a row. PETERBOROUGH lost 2-1 at home to SHREWSBURY and they are now on 61 goals to Shrewsbury’s 50. SCUNTHORPE drew 1-1 at home to Doncaster and they are now on 44 goals while WYCOMBE picked up their tenth blank score sheet and now just one goal in their last four games, as they lost 1-0 at home to Gillingham.

 LEAGUE TWO
LINCOLN CITY are still on top after they won 2-0 away to Morecambe. Lincoln are now on a total of 70 goals and they have now scored in all of their last twenty games. MANSFIELD are still in third place after they won 1-0 at home to Forest Green. After a two game dry spell for goals, Mansfield are now on 57 goals. MK DONS are up to third place after they won 2-0 at home to Newport. The Dons are now on a total of 59 goals. OLDHAM picked up their 59th goal of the season after they lost 3-1 away to Bury. EXETER are on 48 goals as they win 2-1 away to Crewe. SWINDON drew 1-1 at home against Grimsby and that is their 41st goal of the season. NOTTS COUNTY picked up their fourteenth blank of the season as they lost 1-0 away to Tranmere.

SCOTTISH LEAGUES
In the Premiership, CELTIC are still eight points in front of rivals Rangers after they won 4-1 at home to Motherwell. Celtic are now on a total of 80 goals. RANGERS have picked up a total of ten goals this week as they win 5-0 away to HAMILTON. Rangers have taken their goals tally up to 75 while Hamilton picked up their eighteenth blank of the season and now two in a row. ABERDEEN in third place won 2-0 away to St Johnstone and they are now on 59 goals. HEARTS are on 56 goals after they drew 1-1 at home to St Mirren.
In the Championship, ROSS COUNTY are back on top after they won 4-2 away to Partick and they are now on a total of 57 goals. AYR UNITED are in second place after they lost 1-0 at home to Dunfermilne. That is their tenth blank of the season and now two in a row. FALKIRK drew 1-1 at home to Dundee United and they are now on 32 goals.
In League One, RAITH ROVERS are in second place as they win 4-1 at home to Montrose. Rovers are now on a total of 63 goals. DUMBARTON are now on 43 goals after they won 4-3 away to East Fife. STENHOUSEMUIR are bottom of the league as they lost 2-1 away to Forfar.
In League Two, PETERHEAD who are in second place won 1-0 away to Stirling and that is their 51st goal of the season.

Our Best teams this week are LINCOLN CITY after they have scored in all of their last twenty League and Cup games out of thirty-eight played. They have a total of 70 goals which gives them a average score of 1.8 goals per game.

Our worst team this week is back to HAMILTON as they have now picked up a total of eighteen blank score sheets out of thirty-two league and cup games played this season. They have now scored just three goals in their last seven games.

Our biggest result in our 36th Season is MANCHESTER CITY as they win 9-0 at home against league one BURTON ALBION in the Carabao/League Cup semi-final first leg tie in Week Twenty-Four.

KELLIE STARTTON is back at number one this weekend which is her fourth weekend of the season.  Kellie picked three goals in midweek and another four goals at the weekend. Kellie’s combination is Celtic, Manchester City and West Brom.  Jamie Wood is a goal behind Kellie as he falls down to second place after he collected a total of five goals all from the weekend. Jamie has the combination of  Celtic, Manchester City and Tottenham.
At the other end at 133 we still have John Filtness at the bottom for a total of twenty-one consecutive weekend as his teams pick him up just two goals for the week. He has now had twenty-four weeks at the bottom but he is now nine goals adrift  this weekend. His teams are  Birmingham, Hamilton and Liverpool.

So we are halfway through the second half of this our 36th Season of Golden Goals and here are the top ten.

West Ham's Tenth League Win

In the English Premiership, WEST HAM won 3-1 at home to London rivals FULHAM. West Ham have now taken their goals tally up to 51 goals and up to ninth place in the league. Fulham picked up goal number 32 after a two game dry spell for goals.

In the Scottish Premiership, HIBERNIAN won 4-2 away to Dundee and that has now given them a total of 50 goals.

Rangers in Quarter-Finals of Cup

In the WILLIAM HILL CUP fifth round replay, RANGERS drew 0-0 against Kilmarnock in their first meeting and they even missed a penalty.  But they made sure of going through by beating the ten men Kilmarnock 5-0 at home. Rangers are now on a total of 70 goals and they are our fifth team to reach seventy goals at this point of the season.

In the English Championship, DERBY lost 1-0 at home to Millwall and that is their ninth blank score sheet of the season and now two in a row.

Our Teams Are Still Scoring

In the English Championship, WEST BROM won 3-2 away to Queens Park Rangers. The three goals now take’s West Broms goal tally to 72.

In League One, ACCRINGTON STANLEY picked up their biggest win to date after they won 4-2 at home to Oxford Utd. Accrington are now on a total of 39 goals. BARNSLEY drew 0-0 at home to BURTON ALBION and that is their seventh blank score sheets to Burton’s ten. PORTSMOUTH drew 1-1 at home against BRISTOL ROVERS and they are now on a total of 63 goals while Rovers are on 36. It’s 60 goals for SUNDERLAND as they win 4-2 at home to Gillingham. ROCHDALE are on 46 goals as they lost 4-3 at home to AFC Wimbledon.

In League Two, NOTTS COUNTY are still scoring goals as they lost 4-1 at home against Newport County. County are now on a total of 37 goals. OLDHAM are on 58 as they lost 2-1 at home to Morecombe.

In the WILLIAM HILL CUP fifth round replay, ROSS COUNTY are out as they drew, once again 2-2 away to Inverness CT after extra time. Inverness went on to win 5-4 on penalties while County take their goals tally up to 53.

United in Quarter-Finals of FA Cup

MANCHESTER UNITED are through to the quarter-finals of the FA Cup after they beat CHELSEA 2-0 away. United have now extended their goal run to sixteen games. Chelsea picked up their ninth blank of the season and now two games without a goal. So in the next round we will have four of our Golden Goals teams in the draw. Our teams are in BOLD.

Week Twenty-Nine

In Week Twenty-Nine of the competition we had two players who shared this weekends Rollover Jackpot of £12 in cash. They are our 1994/95 Champion GEOFF DOCKERILL and SCOTT THOMSON (2) both with the total of 9 goals each.
Geoff has picked up his second win of the season as he last won in Week Twenty-Six taking the full £6. He is the seventh player to win twice this season. Geoff over the last two weeks has picked up a total of twenty-six goals.
Scott has picked up his very first win of the season and he becomes our twenty-ninth winner to date with his second combination. Scott started with Golden Goals way back in our 2006/07 Season where he finished in the winning frame at number seventeen with a total of 261 goals. Last season with two combinations, his second combo finished the highest at 112 with 248 goals. This season with his second combo, Scott has picked up three blank score sheets and 26th his his highest position in Week Five. Our winners combinations are

WEEKEND RESULTS
We had just forty-one of our teams in action this weekend with thirteen of them failing to score any goals. We had another twenty-one teams that had no game. So the weekends average score fell from nine goals last weekend to 5 goals this weekend. Most of us managed to pick up some goals this weekend but eleven of us did not.
The highest score that we had came from the FA Cup 5th round where MANCHESTER CITY beat Newport County 4-1 away. Newport County held City at half time but City’s strength took hold on the second half. City are now on a total of 106 goals and they have now scored in all of their last seventeen games. SWANSEA also picked up four goals in their cup game against BRENTFORD by winning 4-1 at home after going a goal down in the first half. Swansea are now on a total of 53 goals to Brentford's 64 with a ten game goal run.

FA CUP Fifth Round
We had a total of four teams in cup action but only two have made it through to the next round. Our fourth team to play was DERBY but they go out 2-1 away to Brighton. Derby picked up goal number 29.

CHAMPIONSHIP
It’s all change here as Leeds United drop down to third place behind Norwich at the top with Sheffield United moving up to second place as they had no game. WEST BROM come next still in fourth place as they win 2-1 away to ASTON VILLA. West Brom are now on 69 goals while Villa picked up their seventh blank score sheet and now two in a row. BLACKBURN lost 1-0 again at home to Middlesbrough and that is their seventh blank score sheet. Bottom of the table IPSWICH picked up another goal as they drew 1-1 at home against STOKE.  Ipswich are now on a total of 26 goals while Stoke picked up goal number 41 after a four game dry spell for goals. NOTTINGHAM FOREST drew 0-0 away to Preston and picked up their eleventh blank of the season. ROTHERHAM drew 2-2 at home to Sheffield Wednesday and that takes their goals tally up to 36.

LEAGUE ONE
We still have the top five here with LUTON still top after they won 2-1 away to Fleetwood. Luton have taken their goals tally up to 69 goals. As Charlton pick up their eighth blank of the season, they have scored just one goal in their last four games. PLYMOUTH drew 0-0 away to Bradford and that is their tenth blank score sheet. We have not had a big score from COVENTRY for a while as they win 3-0 at home to Walsall and they are now on a total of 38 goals. SCUNTHORPE lost 1-0 away to Gillingham and they have now had a total of thirteen blank score sheets. It’s 60 goals for PETERBOROUGH won 1-0 away to Oxford Utd. SHREWSBURY drew 1-1 at home against BURTON ALBION. Shrewsbury are now on 48 goals to Burtons 52.

LEAGUE TWO

MK DONS are in fourth place after they won 3-2 away to Carlsile and they have taken their goals tally up to 57. EXETER lost 1-0 at home to Bury and that is their tenth blank of the season. OLDHAM picked up their 57th goal of the season after they drew 1-1 at home to Crewe.

Two Points Out Of Six For Sunderland

In the English League One, SUNDERLAND drew 2-2 at home to ACCRINGTON STANLEY. Sunderland have picked up three goals this week and they are now on a total of 56 goals and they have now scored in all of their last twelve games. Accrington after a five game dry spell for goals, have now taken their goals total up to 35.

Leeds Move Above Norwich

In the English Championship, LEEDS UNITED are back at the top after they win 2-1 at home against SWANSEA. Leeds are now on a total of 56 goals and they have now scored in all of their last eight games. Swansea picked up goal number 49. Bottom of the table IPSWICH drew 1-1 at home to DERBY after going a goal down. Ipswich are now on 25 goals after a two game dry spell. Derby are now on 58 goals.

The Goals Keep on Coming

In the English Championship, BIRMINGHAM lost 1-0 at home to Bolton to pick up their tenth blank score sheet of the season. HULL drew 2-2 at home to ROTHERHAM and that takes their goals total to 47 while Rotherham are now on 34. WEST BROM drew 2-2 at home against NOTTINGHAM FOREST and they are now on a total of 67 goals while Forest are up to 55 goals.

In League One, It’s nine blank score sheets for SOUTHEND as they lost 3-0 away to Doncaster. It’s another single goal for SUNDERLAND as they drew 1-1 at home to Blackpool.

In League Two, MK DONS are now on 54 goals as they win 1-0 away to Newport County. OLDHAM won 4-1 at home to Yeovil and they are now on a total of 56 goals with seven coming from their last two games. It’s 40 goals for SWINDON as they win 2-0 at home against Forest Green.
