Week Thirty-Four

Hello and welcome back to Golden Goals Season 37. I must admit that I thought that the rest of the games would not be played here in the UK, but happy that they have now restarted.

WEEKEND RESULTS
Out of a total of 57 teams that started this season we are left with just 31 of our current teams in action. There are no Scottish games what so ever and in the English Leagues One and Two it’s just the play-offs to finish off the season.
Well out of the 27 teams that did play over the weekend, eleven of them failed to score any goals. The highest score that we had with our restart this weekend was three goals and we had three of our team’s that picked them up. But here are the results.

PREMIER LEAGUE
LIVERPOOL are still on top this week as they drew 0-0 in the local Mersey derby against EVERTON away. Liverpool have now picked up four blank score sheets while Everton picked up their ninth.  Manchester City are now just 23 points behind Liverpool after their win in midweek. LEICESTER CITY are in third place after they drew 1-1 away to Watford. Leicester are now on a total of 75 goals. In fourth place is CHELSEA as they win 2-1 away to ASTON VILLA. Chelsea have taken their goals total up to 67 goals while Villa, still second from bottom are now on 55. NEWCASTLE won 3-0 at home to SHEFFIELD UNITED and that has now taken them up to a total of 40 goals while United picked up their tenth blank of the season and two in a week. ARSENAL’s restart has taken a bit of a dive as they lost again 2-1 away to Brighton to pick up their 56th goal of the season. WEST HAM lost 2-0 at home to WOLVES to pick up their twelfth blank of the season while Wolves are now on a total of 45 goals.

CHAMPIONSHIP
All change here as WEST BROM move back on top on goal difference as they drew 0-0 at home to BIRMINGHAM CITY. As West Brom pick up their sixth blank of the season, City have now had thirteen. LEEDS UNITED are now in second place after they lost 2-0 away to CARDIFF and that is their ninth blank score sheet while Cardiff have taken their goals tally up to 64.
In the Play-offs we have all four teams as FULHAM, in third place lost 2-0 at home to fourth place BRENTFORD. Fulham have now had a total of ten blank score sheets while Brentford take their goals total up to 68. NOTTINGHAM FOREST are in fifth place as they drew 1-1 away to SHEFFIELD WEDNESDAY. Forest are now on 53 goals to Wednesday’s 51. In sixth place is PRESTON as they drew 1-1 away to LUTON. Preston picked up goal number 59 while Luton hit goal number 50. It’s blank number thirteen for MIDDLESBROUGH as they lost 3-0 at home to Swansea. BLACKBURN picked up the high score here as they win 3-1 at home against Bristol City. Rovers are now on a total of 60 goals. HUDDERSFIELD lost 2-0 at home to Wigan and that is their eleventh blank fo the season. DERBY also picked up three goals in their 3-2 away win over Millwall. Derby are now on a total of 58 goals. BARNSLEY are on 48 goals as they win 1-0 away to QUEENS PARK RANGERS, who picked up their twelfth blank of the season. STOKE drew 1-1 away to Reading and that is goal number 54 for them.

Our BEST three teams this week with Golden Goals are

CELTIC (108) MANCHESTER CITY (94) COVE RANGERS (82) Total of 284 goals

OUR WORST THREE TEAMS ARE

PETERHEAD (33) STENHOUSEMUIR (36) SHEFFIELD UNITED (38) Total of 107 goals

Our highest goal scorers in our 37th Season is still LEICESTER CITY from Week Thirteen after they won 9-0 away to Southampton in the league.

We still have GUY DOWSETT on top after he picked up the three goals from Manchester City in midweek. This is Guy’s twenty-first week at the top and his other teams which are no longer playing are Celtic and Cove Rangers. He is still five goals clear of Bradley Clark in second place with his combination of  Celtic, Liverpool and Manchester City. There is good news for Guy as he moves up to 31st place in our Champions League as he moves above Adam Porter’s final score of  284 goals from the 2006/07 Season.
At the other end at 123 The SAINT has remained at the bottom, even though he still has all three of his teams playing. After picking up two goals at the weekend, The Saint has been at the bottom for a total of twenty-seven weeks. His teams are Barnsley, Sheffield United and Sheffield Wednesday.

Her are out top ten of the restart season.
