We Still Need More Players

After a week since the new entry forms for Golden Goals Season 38, we have a total of just 81 entries back of which eight are new to the competition to date. After a calm day on lunch day, things have really slowed down and the season looks like it will be the lowest that we have had for some while which is really disappointing. I can understand that as the coronavirus continues around the world and the games many be stopped once again. This means that the prize money will not be as good as it has in the last four previous seasons.

You still have time to enter your teams, but we need more players to beat our biggest season’s total of 149 players although once again we still have a lot of our regular players to send in their teams.

How are the team selection looking now?

We now have thirty-nine English teams with Manchester City still picking up the most votes with 51. In second place we have Liverpool now with 22 votes. Third place is Chelsea with 19 votes while in fourth place we have Arsenal and Manchester United both with 10 votes each. We even have the new boys to the league and they are Harrogate Town with just one vote to date.We now have eight teams at the moment from our Scottish leagues with Celtic still leading the votes once again with 42. Rangers are second with 9 votes. All the others still have just one vote each.

It’s also a shame that no-one outside of the competition is even interested in joining in. Not even from the UK.

So if you do want to join in quick, send me an email to goldengoals1983@gmail.com to get your entry form. It cost just £8 to enter.

Rangers are now in second place. Ross County are in third place after they won 1-0 away to Hamilton. CELTIC drew 1-1 away to Kilmarnock and they are now on a total of 6 goals and in fourth place. County Win First game

In the Scottish Premiership, Ross County won 1-0 at home to MOTHERWELL with a penalty in the first half.

Season 38 up and Running

We did not have a bad start for our first day for the New Entry Forms for the Golden Goals Season 38. We had a total of 50 entries back to date. Last season we had 76 and the previous season 59 entries back. So could we be looking at a big season? with the pandemic that is going around, I really don’t think that we will but we have still a long way to go.  Out of the 50 entries, four are new to the competition and we would like to welcome them to their very first season.

So how is the team selection looking so far?
We have thirty-one English teams with once again Manchester City picking up the most votes with 35. In second place we have Liverpool with 15. Third place is Chelsea with 14 while in fourth place is Arsenal with 7 votes.
We have just four teams at the moment from our Scottish leagues with Celtic leading the votes once again with 23. Rangers are second with just 2 votes. The others have just one vote each.
We still have a long way to go yet but we need more players to beat our biggest season’s total of 149 players although we still have a lot of our regulars to send in their teams yet.

We have had quite a few hits now with over 45,500 on our blog and I thought that I would be a great idea if players from other countries who would like to take part could get their families and friends to form teams i.e Team USA or Team Russia who are our biggest bloggers here.

Well if you would like to know more or to receive your entry form, then you can email me, Steve at goldengoals1983@gmail.com

Scottish Season Starts

In the Scottish Premiership, it took just 21 minutes for the first goal to be scored in the New Season of Golden Goals. It came from Ryan Kent of RANGERS as they won 1-0 away to Aberdeen in the opening game of the season.
Now I do know that the entry forms for our new season are not out yet, as this is going to be a special season for GG fans. Not knowing what teams will be picked for our 38th Season I thought that we could get this season under way as the Scottish have now started their season.
So we will give you the results until we know what teams have been picked. Meanwhile with the rest of the results, Dundee United drew their first game 1-1 at home to St Johnstone. Hibernian go top after they won 2-1 at home to Kilmarnock. St Mirren won 1-0 at home to Livingston.
