Week Thirty-Six

In Week Thirty-Six of the competition we are now down to the last few games for this our 38th season. We had two players that picked up the most amount of goals over the weekend with 9 goals each. They are BARRY BURROUGHS and ROBERT FULLER. Barry picked up his goals from Brentford, Liverpool and Peterborough while Robert’s goal came from Chelsea, Manchester United and Peterborough. 

100 MIDWEEK GOALS 

Only thirteen of us picked up some goals this week as we are now looking at beat that highest midweek score of 136 goals set by Daryl Nicholls in the 2016/17 Season. But this week we still have a total of 26 players that are on or over the 100 goals mark. In the lead this week we still have MICHAEL JACOBSON with Bournemouth, Celtic and Manchester City with a total of 115 goals. In second place both with a total of 114 goals we still have SANSA-CLARA-LYANNA with Brentford, Manchester City and Watford and DEAN ZANIOUS with Brentford, Manchester City and Oxford United. In third place is EMMA NEWMAN with a total of 112 goals. 

WEEKEND RESULTS 

We had all but nine of our teams that played over the weekend and out of the ones that did,  just ten failed to score any goals. It was a even better weekend than last weekend but the average score remained at 4 goals this weekend. It was our vey last full league fixture of the season and now most of us have just two of our combo left in play for the next two weeks. The highest score that we had over the weekend was four goals and we had five teams that picked them up. They came from BOLTON, CHELTENHAM, PETERBOROUGH, PORTSMOUTH and SWINDON. 

PREMIER LEAGUE 

Champions MANCHESTER CITY could be in trouble here after they lost their fifth league game 2-1 at home to CHELSEA. City are on a total of 95 goals while Chelsea are on 73 goals and have moved up to third place. MANCHESTER UNITED are still in second place as they win 2-1 away to ASTON VILLA after going a goal down in the first half. United are on a total of 81 goals as Villa picked up goal number 56. After failing to score in their previous two games, LEEDS UNITED won 3-1 at home to TOTTENHAM and the goals have taken their goals tally up to 54. Tottenham hit goal number 80. It’s 70 goals for LIVERPOOL as they win 2-0 at home against Southampton. WEST HAM lost 1-0 at home to EVERTON to pick up their eighth blank of the season while Everton picked up their 68th goal of the season. ARSENAL won 3-1 at home to WEST BROM. Arsenal are now on a total of 54 goals while West Brom are relegated with 39 goals. WOLVES won 2-1 at home to BRIGHTON and they are on 37 goals to Brighton’s 45. 

CHAMPIONSHIP 

Champions NORWICH  drew 2-2 away to Barnsley and they have taken their goal tally to 78 goals. WATFORD are promoted in second place as they win 2-0 at home to SWANSEA. Watford have finished the season on a total of 65 goals. Swansea picked up their twelfth blank of the season. 

In the Play-offs we still have three of the four teams here with BRENTFORD in third place as they win 3-1 away to BRISTOL CITY. Brentford are now on a total of 91 goals while Bristol City finished their season with 57 goals. Swansea are still in fourth place with BOURNEMOUTH down to sixth place after they lost again 2-0 at home to STOKE. Bournemouth picked up their twelfth blank of the season and now three games in a row. Stoke have finished with a total of 54 goals. 

Meanwhile BIRMINGHAM lost 5-2 away to Blackburn Rovers but have finished the season on a total of 37 goals. DERBY drew 3-3 at home to Sheffield Wednesday and they finished on 37 goals. MIDDLESBROUGH picked up their fifteenth blank of the season after they lost 3-0 at home to Wycombe. NOTTINGHAM FOREST finished on 39 goals after they lost 2-1 at home to PRESTON who finished on 56 goals. LUTON finished on 47 goals after they lost 3-1 away to QPR. READING drew 2-2 at home to Huddersfield and they end with a total of 64 goals. ROTHERHAM are relegated after they drew 1-1 away to CARDIFF. Rotherham finished on a total of 46 goals to Cardiff’s 66 and they had scored in all of their last six games. 

LEAGUE ONE 

Champions HULL lost their final game 1-0 away to CHARLTON. Hull after a goal run to fourteen games, picked up their ninth blank of the season. Charlton missed the chance of the play-offs as they finished on a total of 73 goals. PETERBOROUGH are promoted as they win 4-1 away to Doncaster. Borough finished on a total of 86 goals.

In the Play-offs we still have three of the four teams. They are SUNDERLAND down to fourth place they drew 1-1 at home to Northampton. Sunderland are now on a total of 70 goals. LINCOLN CITY are down to fifth place after they drew 0-0 at home to AFC Wimbledon. That is Lincoln’s tenth blank of the season after a goal run of ten games. OXFORD UNITED have landed in sixth place after they won 4-0 at home against Burton. Oxford are now on a total of 80 goals and they have now scored in all of their last ten games. 

Meanwhile, CREWE finished on a total of 61 goals as they won their last game 3-2 at home to Shrewsbury. PLYMOUTH picked up their fourteenth blank of the season after they lost 1-0 away to Gillingham. FLEETWOOD TOWN lost 3-1 away to Ipswich and they end the season on a total of 56 goals. PORTSMOUTH lost 1-0 at home to ACCRINGTON STANLEY to get their fifteenth blank of the season while Accrington finished on a total of 65 goals and they had scored in all of their last six games. WIGAN lost their last game 4-3 at home to SWINDON. Wigan finished on a goal run of seven games with a total of 58 goals. Swindon are relegated with a total of 56 goals. 

LEAGUE TWO 

So CHELTEHAM finally became Champions after they won 4-1 at home to HARROGATE TOWN. Cheltenham finished their season on a total of 71 goals, while Harrogate finished on 55 goals. BOLTON are promoted in third place after they won their last game 4-1 away to Crawley. Bolton finished on a total of 62 goals and have scored in all of their last seven games. 

In the Play-offs we still have just one team of the four and they are TRANMERE. They finished in seventh place after they drew 0-0 at home to Colchester. Tranmere have picked up their nineteenth blank of the season. 

Meanwhile EXETER drew their last game 1-1 at home to Barrow and finished their season with a total of 76 goals. SALFORD CITY finished on a total of 56 goals after they won 3-0 at home to Leyton Orient. SCUNTHORPE lost their last game 1-0 at home to Stevenage. They have failed to score in their last five games. SOUTHEND are relegated and out of the football league as they drew 1-1 at home to Newport. Southend finished on a total of 32 goals. 

SCOTTISH LEAGUES 

In League One play-offs, COVE RANGERS drew their first leg game 1-1 at home to Airdrie and the goal has taken them up to a total of 36.

OUR WORST THREE TEAMS ARE 

FULHAM (30) SOUTHEND (32) STENHOUSEMUIR (34) Total of 96 goals

Our Best team this week are still RANGERS after they have now scored in all of their last thirty-seven league/cup games. They have scored a total of 98 goals which now gives them an average score of 2.2 goals per game. 

Our worst team this weekend is SCUNTHORPE who have scored just 3 goals in their last ten games played. 

SOUTHEND have picked up the most number of blank score sheets this season with twenty-six after forty-eight games played. 

Our highest goal scorers in our 38th Season are MANCHESTER UNITED after they won 9-0 at home against Southampton in the league in Week Twenty-Three.  

STEVE REEVE has remained at the top this weekend as I picked up a total of 4 goals all from the weekend. I have now been at the top for a total of fourteen consecutive weeks which now makes me the longest to be at the top this season. My teams are Brentford, Manchester City and Rangers. This week I have managed to move up to 33th place in our Champions League by overtaking  Alec Shorts total of 280 goal from the 1988/89 Season. Colin Webb is still in second place as he picked up 5 goals from the weekend. Colin is now just five goals behind me this week. His teams are Manchester City, Peterborough and Rangers.

At the other end at 116 we still have John Nicholls who has now been there for a total of twenty consecutive weeks. Johns teams picked him up just 3 goals from his combo of Bristol City, Fulham and West Brom. John will record our lowest ever score ever in our thirty-eight year history.
