Week Two

Here we are with Week Two of the competition and this weekend we had our first full league fixture, which gave us our second winner of the season. Our winner was DAVID BARRETT who won on a score of 13 goals. Wins himself £5 this weekend. David joined Golden Goals in the 2017/18 Season on where he finished in the winning frame in 16th place with 305 goals. Last season he finished in 85th place with a total of 276 goals. He did manage to win a Rollover of £10. His teams for this season are

100 MIDWEEK GOALS JACKPOT

We can now have our first look at who is in the lead for our 100 Midweek Goals Jackpot worth a total of £25 this season. The prize money will go to the first person to reach 100 goals from their three teams. It was PHIL COLLINS that picked up the most goals in midweek with a total of 9 goals. They came from Burnley, Luton and Sheffield United.

Taking the lead after two weeks of football we have DAVID BARRETT out in front with a total of 24 goals. In second place we have BARBARA BARNES (2) with 18 goals. In third place with 17 goals we have CHARLIE FARLEY (John Wood) In fourth place is with 14 goals we have GUY DOWSETT (2) and in fifth place we have GUY DOWSETT (1) with a total of 13 goals.

WEEKEND RESULTS

So we had our very first full weekend fixture and not a bad start to the season. We had just 4 teams with no game over the weekend with another 18 of our teams that failed to score any goals. So for our very first weekend the average score was 5 goals. So if your combination picked up more than that, then you have done very well this weekend. The Highest score over the weekend was 6 goals and they came from the Scottish League Cup 2nd round where DUNDEE won 6-1 against Airdrieonians. 

Dundee became our 21st voted Scottish team back in the 1987/88 Season and finished with a total of 62 goals. Their best end of season score came in the 2009/10 Season with 65 goals. Last time out was back in the 2010/11 Season with 59 goals. This is their fourth season with Golden Goals and they have now netted a total of 215 goals. This gives them an average score of 53 goals per season to date. They have just 1 vote this season. Lets get on with the results to see how your teams have performed over the weekend.

PREMIER LEAGUE

So the Premier League have played their first game of the season and most of them had a good start. LIVERPOOL won 2-0 away to IPSWICH TOWN. ARSENAL won 2-0 at home to Wolves. NEWCASTLE won 1-0 at home against SOUTHAMPTON. AFC BOURNEMOUTH drew 1-1 away to Nottingham Forest. WEST HAM lost 2-1 at home to ASTON VILLA. CRYSTAL PALACE lost 2-1 away to Brentford. Last season’s champions, MANCHESTER CITY won their 1st game 2-0 away to CHELSEA.

CHAMPIONSHIP

After two games now, BURNLEY are top here after they won their second league game 5-0 at home to Cardiff City. With their biggest result to date, Burnley have taken their goals total to 9. MIDDLESBROUGH lost 1-0 away to Derby and picked up their 1st blank of the season. PORTSMOUTH drew 0-0 at home to LUTON TOWN and they picked up their 2nd blank score sheet while Luton picked up their 1st. LEEDS UNITED picked up their 2nd consecutive blank score sheet as they drew 0-0 away to WBA. With their biggest result of the season, MILLWALL lost 4-3 away to Bristol City and are now on a total of 6 goals. NORWICH drew 2-2 at home to Blackburn and are on a total of 6 goals. SHEFFIELD UNITED drew 2-2 at home against QPR and are on a total of 8 goals. SWANSEA won 3-0 at home to PRESTON NE. Swansea are now on a total of 6 goals while Preston picked up their 2nd blank of the season.

LEAGUE ONE

HUDDERSFIELD are our highest team here in 2nd place after they won 2-1 at home to Stevenage. Huddersfield are on a total of 7 goals. CHARLTON won 1-0 at home to Leyton Orient and are on a total of 2 goals. PETERBOROUGH picked up their first goals as they win 4-1 away to Shrewsbury. BLACKPOOL picked up their 1st blank score sheet after they lost 3-0 at home to Stockport. BARNSLEY won 2-1 away to Lincoln City and are on a total of 4 goals. BIRMINGHAM picked up their biggest win to date as they win 3-2 away to Wycombe. Birmingham are on a total of 5 goals. BOLTON drew 0-0 at home to WREXHAM which means that both teams have picked up their 1st blank of the season.

LEAGUE TWO

The highest team that we have here are our new boys, BROMLEY in 3rd place. They won their second league game 2-0 at home to AFC WIMBLEDON. Bromley are on a total of 5 goals. Wimbledon picked up their 1st blank of the season. MK DONS lost 2-0 away to Colchester and picked up their second consecutive blank score sheet. CHESTERFIELD picked up their biggest result with a 5-0 away win over Crewe. Chesterfield are now on a total of 7 goals. DONCASTER ROVERS lost 3-1 away to Newport and are on 7 goals. NOTTS COUNTY drew 2-2 at home to Fleetwood and are on a total of 5 goals.

SCOTTISH LEAGUES

In the Scottish League Cup Second Round, we had 7 of our teams in action out of them 4 have made it through to the next round. DUNDEE have kept their 100% scoring record after they won 6-1 at home to Airdrieonians and have now taken their goals tally up to 29 goals after a total of 7 league/cup games. FALKIRK won 2-0 at home to HEARTS and are on a total of 17 goals and a goal run of 5 games. Hearts picked up their 2nd blank in 3 games. RANGERS won 2-0 at home to St Johnston and are on a total of 4 goals. CELTIC won 3-1 at home against Hibernian and are now on a total of 9 goals. ROSS COUNTY are out after they lost 1-0 away to The Spatans and picked up their 2nd blank of the season. KILMARNOCK lost 1-0 away to Motherwell after extra time and that is their 3rd consecutive blank score sheet.

In League One STENHOUSEMUIR lost 1-0 away to Alloa and picked up their 4th blank of the season. COVE RANGERS drew 1-1 at home against Dumbarton and are on a total of 6 goals.

In League Two, PETERHEAD are top of the table after they won 1-0 at home to Stranraer and are on a total of 9 goals. CLYDE picked up their 3rd blank of the season after they lost 2-0 at home to Stirling. EAST FIFE won 2-1 at home to Forfar and are on a total of 14 goals after they had failed to score in their last 5 games.

Our WORST three teams are

KILMARNOCK (0) CHELSEA (0) SOUTHAMPTON (0) Total of 0 goals

Our best performing team is DUNDEE after they have now scored in all of their 7 league/cup games. They have a total of 29 goals which gives them an average score of 4 goals per game.

Our worst performing team is KILMARNOCK this weekend after they picked up 3rd  blank score sheets in their first 3 games of the season. 

Our highest goal-scoring team in our 42nd Season are DUNDEE. They won 7-1 away to Bonnyrigg Rose in the Scottish League Cup in the very first game in the first round group stages. 

DAVID BARRETT is at the top for his second weekend after picking up 17 goals from the week. David’s teams are Burnley, Dundee and Manchester City. He is already 13 goals clear of  BARBARA BARNES (2) with her teams of Celtic, Falkirk and Manchester United.

At the other end at 114 we had Abbey Newman there last weekend but we now have ANNE HAMMOND who picked up just 3 goals this weekend. Anne’s teams are Arsenal, Crystal Palace and Tottenham.

In our second week, things have really changed since last weekend in our top ten
