Week Eight

In Week Eight of the competition, we had another £5 to give away and it went to ALEX DAVEY on a score of 14 goals, which is our second highest score this season. This now brings our winners total to 9. Alex started with us back in the 2004/05 Season and he finished in 56th place with a total of 261 goals. The last time that Alex played was in the 2018/19 Season where he finished in 75th place with 285 goals. This season he is at his highest position and with his personal best weekend score. 100 MIDWEEK GOALS JACKPOT

There was another change in the race for the 100 Midweek Goals Jackpot once again this week, as we had more of our teams in action. The good news is that everyone is now in the race for the cash. It was our double Champion PHIL REEVE that picked up the most amount of midweek goals with 15. They came from Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool with 5 goals each. DAVID BARRETT is back in the lead this week as he is now on a total of 26 goals. Down to second place we have last weeks leader, BARBARA BARNES (2) still with a total of 25 goals. In third place with 19 goals up from five we now have GUY DOWSETT (2). In fourth place we have CHARLIE FARLEY (John Wood) down from three with BRUCE SELF joining him. Both are on a total of 17 goals. In fifth place we now have PHIL COLLINS down from four with a total of 16 goals.

WEEKEND RESULTS

We had a full league fixture again this weekend and we had 4 of our teams without a game over the weekend. We had another 9 of our teams that failed to score any goals. This means that our weekend average score has remained as last weekend's total with 7 goals.

The highest score over the weekend was 6 goals and they came from the Scottish Premiership where CELTIC won 6-0 away to St Johnstone. Celtic, with their biggest result so far, are now on a total of 28 goals and have kept their 100% scoring record after 8 league/cup games.

Celtic are just one of four teams that have appeared in all 42 season’s of Golden Goals. In our first season of 1983/84 they became our second voted Scottish team and ended the season on a total of 116 goals. Their highest score came in 2022/23 with a record breaking 143 goals. Last season they finished with a total of 110 goals. They have reached 100 or more goals in 22 of their season’s. LIVERPOOL have moved to the top after they won 2-1 away to Wolves. Winning their fifth league game, Liverpool are on a total of 17 goals. MANCHESTER CITY drop down to second place after they drew 1-1 away to NEWCASTLE. City have now scored in all of their 7 league/cup games and are on a total of 16 goals. Newcastle picked up goal number 9. ARSENAL won 4-2 at home against LEICESTER CITY. Arsenal have also scored in all of their 7 league/cup games and are on a total of 17 goals. Leicester are on a total of 12 goals. WEST HAM drew 1-1 away to Brentford and are on a total of 8 goals. CHELSEA won 4-2 at home against Brighton and have taken their goals tally up to 20 goals and have now scored in all of their last 6 league/cup games. CRYSTAL PALACE still need their first win after they lost 2-1 away to Everton. Palace are on 11 goals. IPSWICH drew 2-2 at home against ASTON VILLA and are on a total of 7 goals. Villa are on a total of 14 goals and have now scored in all of their last 5 league/cup games. Ten men MANCHESTER UNITED lost 3-0 at home to TOTTENHAM. United have only won two of their league games as they picked up their third blank score sheet and now 2 in a row. Tottenham have taken their goals total to 14.

CHAMPIONSHIP

NORWICH CITY won their third league game 3-2 away to Derby and are now on a total of 15 goals. LEEDS UNITED won 3-0 at home to Coventry City and are now on a total of 12 goals. MIDDLESBROUGH won 2-0 at home to Stoke and are no a total of 11 goals. MILLWALL won 3-1 at home against PRESTON NE and are now on a total of 13 goals while Preston hit goal number 12. OXFORD UNITED drew 0-0 at home to BURNLEY and picked up their second blank of the season. Burnley picked up their third. PORTSMOUTH drew 0-0 with SHEFFIELD UNITED and that is their fourth blank score sheet while United picked up their second. SWANSEA drew 1-1 at home to Bristol City and are on a total of 11 goals.

LEAGUE ONE

BIRMINGHAM CITY are now top of the table after they won 3-2 at home to PETERBOROUGH. Birmingham have taken their goals total to 17 goals while Borough are on 14. WREXHAM are down to second place after they drew 0-0 away to Leyton Orient. After a goal run of 5 league/cup games, Wrexham picked up their second blank of the season. BOLTON won their third league game 2-0 away to Crawley Town and are now on a total of 13 goals. HUDDERSFIELD lost 2-1 away to Reading and are on a total of 17 goals. BLACKPOOL won 3-0 at home to Burton and have taken their goal tally to 22 goals. CHARLTON picked up their third blank score sheet after they lost 1-0 away to Stevenage. BARNSLEY drew 1-1 at home to Stockport and are on a total of 15 goals.

LEAGUE TWO

BROMLEY drew 1-1 at home against MK DONS and are on a total of 11 goals while the Dons are on 7 goals. DONCASTER ROVERS lost 3-0 at home to CHESTERFIELD and that was their third blank of the season. Chesterfield are now on a total of 14 goals. NOTTS COUNTY drew 1-1 away to Morecambe and are on a total of 18 goals.

SCOTTISH LEAGUES

In the Premiership,  joint top of the table CELTIC have remained top this weekend on goal difference as they win their sixth consecutive league game 6-0 away to St Johnstone. RANGERS won 1-0 at home to Hibernian and are on a total of 15 goals. HEARTS drew 1-1 at home to ROSS COUNTY and are on a total of 4 goals. County are on 17 goals. With their biggest result to date, KILMARNOCK drew 3-3 at home to Dundee United. Kilmarnock have taken their goals tally to 6 goals.

In the Championship FALKIRK lost their first league game 1-0 away to Raith Rovers. After a goal run of 9 league/cup games, Falkirk picked up their second blank of the season and moved down to second place in the league.

In League One COVE RANGERS lost 4-2 at home to Arbroath and are on a total of 15 goals and they have now scored in all of their last 9 league/cup games. STENHOUSEMUIR drew 0-0 away to Inverness CT and picked up their seventh blank of the season and now 3 in a row.

In League Two, EAST FIFE are back on top of the table after they won 1-0 away to The Spartans. Fife are on a total of 27 goals and have scored in all of their last 10 league/cup games. PETERHEAD drew 2-2 at home to CLYDE and are on a total of 17 goals while Clyde are on 15.

Our highest goal-scoring teams in our 42nd Season are MANCHESTER UNITED after they won 7-0 at home to BARNSLEY in the Carabao/League Cup 3rd Round in Week Seven. DUNDEE won 7-1 away to Bonnyrigg Rose in the Scottish League Cup in the very first game in the first round group stages.

GUY DOWSETT (2) is at the top this weekend and becomes the third player to do so. Guy picked up a total of 16 goals this week from his teams of Arsenal, Celtic and East Fife. He is 6 goals clear of last weeks leader Barbara Barnes (2). Barbara’s teams are once again Celtic, Falkirk and Manchester United

At the other end at 114 we still have MANDY WRIGHT with her second week, but she has AFC Wimbledon who are not in action due to the problem of the pitch, Mandy’s teams picked up just 2 goals this week. Her teams are Bournemouth, West Ham and AFC Wimbledon.

The Carabao/League Cup 3rd Round Continues

 

Once again we have some more results from the Carabao/League Cup 3rd Round games. We had just 4 more of our teams in action and out of them 2 have made it to the next round.

They are ARSENAL who won 5-1 at home against BOLTON. Arsenal with their biggest win of the season, have taken their goals tally to 13 goals and have kept their 100% scoring record after 6 league/cup games. Bolton picked up goal number 11. LIVERPOOL with their biggest result of the season, beat WEST HAM 5-1 at home. Liverpool are now on a total of 15 goals, while West ham are on 7 goals.

More Carabao/League Cup 3rd Round Results

In the Carabao/League Cup 3rd Round, we had another 4 of our teams in action. Out of them all 4 teams  have made it through to the next round.

They are CHELSEA who won 5-0 at home to Barrow from league two, and have taken their goals tally up to 16 goals and have now scored in all of their last 5 league/cup games. MANCHESTER CITY won 2-1 at home against Watford and are on a total of 15 goals and have kept their 100% scoring record after a total of 6 league/cup games. ASTON VILLA won 2-1 away to Wycombe and are on a total of 12 goals. LEICESTER CITY drew 0-0 away to Walsall and then won 3-0 on penalties, but picked up their first blank score sheet of the season after a goal run of 6 league/cup games. 

In League One After a goal run of 8 league/cup games, HUDDERSFIELD TOWN lost 2-0 at home to BLACKPOOL and picked up their first blank of the season. Blackpool are on a total of 19 goals.

PETERBOROUGH drew 2-2 away to Leyton Orient and are on a total of 12 goals.

Week Seven

In Week Seven of the competition, we were back to our normal £5 Weekend Jackpot and we had 2 players to share the cash. This now brings our winners total to 8 and our winners are CHRIS SETFORD and RICKY WOOD our 2007/08 joint Champion both winning on a score of 12 goals each.

Chris has been with Golden Goals for a long time now but last season he finished in 67th place with a total of 286 goals. This season, Chris has been as high as 16th place in Week One. This is his personal best and he has picked up just 1 blank score sheet at the weekend. His best team is Celtic.

Ricky became joint Champion in our 2007/08 Season finishing with a total of 293 goals. He is currently in 33rd place in our Champions League. Last season he finished in 30th place with a total of 308 goals. This season Ricky has been as high as 6th place in Week One. This is also his personal best and he has also picked up just 1 weekend blank score sheet. Our winners teams are

In third place with 17 goals we still have CHARLIE FARLEY (John Wood) In fourth place with 15 goals each we still have GUY DOWSETT (1) and PHIL COLLINS, but they are now joined with MICHAEL FISHER. In fifth place we still have GUY DOWSETT (2) and joining him we have STURAT KEMP (1). Both with a total of 14 goals.

In the Scottish League Cup Quarter-Finals we had 4 of our teams left in the cup and out of them only 2 have made it into the Semi-Finals. They are RANGERS who won 3-0 at home against DUNDEE. Rangers are now on a total of 14 goals while Dundee picked up their second consecutive blank score sheet. CELTIC won 5-2 at home against FALKIRK. With their biggest result to date, Celtic have taken their goals tally up to 22 goals and they have extended their goal run to 7 league/cup games. Falkirk are on 26 goals and they have now scored in all of their last 9 league/cup games. 

In the Premiership Celtic have remained top this weekend. After they had failed to score in their previous 2 games, HEARTS lost 2-1 away to St Mirren and are on a total of 3 goals. ROSS COUNTY drew 3-3 at home to St Johnston and have taken their goals tally up to 16 goals.

Carabao/League Cup 3rd Round


In the Carabao/League Cup 3rd Round we had 6 of our teams in action. Out of them 4 have made it through to the next round.

They are SOUTHAMPTON who drew 1-1 away to Everton and then won 6-5 on penalties. Southampton picked up their 7th goal of the season, MANCHESTER UNITED picked up their biggest result of the season after they won 7-0 at home against BARNSLEY. United have taken their goals tally up to 12 goals while Barnsley picked up their second consecutive blank score sheet. CRYSTAL PALACE won 2-1 away to QPR and are on a total of 10 goals. PRESTON NE drew 1-1 at home to Fulham and then they won 16-15 on penalties. Preston are on a total of 11 goals and have now scored in all of their last 5 league/cup games. BLACKPOOL are out after they lost 1-0 at home to Sheffield Wednesday. That is their second blank of the season.

Week Six

In Week Six of the competition, we had our very first Rollover of the season worth £10 this weekend and it was shared by 2 players. This now brings our winners total to 6. They are BABARA BARNES (2) and MARK LIPMAN wining on a score of just 7 goals each.

Barbara started with Golden Goals back in the 2000/01 season and finished in 85th place out of 102 players with a total of 232 goals. Last season Barbara had two combinations. Her first one finished in 106th place out of 110 with a total of 244 goals. Her second combo finished in 88th place with 275 goals. Barbara picked up 2 weekend wins. This season she has won on her personal best weekend score and has picked up just 1 blank weekend score sheet. Her best team is Falkirk.

Mark stated in the 2022/23 season and finished in the winning frame in 11th place on a total of 306 goals. He had one shared weekend win. Last season he finished in 29th place with 304 goals. OXFORD UNITED won 1-0 at home against Stoke and are on a total of 11 goals. MIDDLESBROUGH drew 1-1 at home to PRESTON NE.  Brough are on a total of 9 goals while Preston are on 10 goals. After they had failed to score in their last 2 league games, SWANSEA CITY won 1-0 at home to NORWICH CITY and are on a total of 8 goals. Norwich picked up their third blank of the season. PORTSMOUTH lost 3-0 at home to WBA and picked up their third blank score sheet.

LEAGUE ONE

Wrexham are still top of the table winning 4 of their five league games played even though they had no game this weekend. HUDDERSFIELD picked up their biggest result so far as they win 4-0 away to BOLTON. Huddersfield have taken their goals tally to15 goals and have now scored in all of their 7 league/cup games. Bolton picked up their fourth blank score sheet and now 2 in a row. PETERBOROUGH drew 1-1 at home to Lincoln City and are on a total of 7 goals. CHARLTON won 1-0 away to Shrewsbury and are on a total of 6 goals. After a goal run of 7 league/cup games, BARNSLEY picked up their first blank score sheet after they lost 3-0 away to Stevenage.

LEAGUE TWO

NOTTS COUNTY have moved to the top after they won 4-2 away to new boys BROMLEY. Rovers are now on 17 goals and have now in all of their last 6 league games. Bromley have extended their goal run to 7 league/cup games and are on a total of 10 goals. AFC WIMBLEDON won 3-0 at home to MK DONS. Wimbledon are now on a total of 13 goals while the Dons picked up their fourth blank of the season. CHESTERFIELD lost 1-0 away to Port Vale and picked up their second blank of the season.

SCOTTISH LEAGUES

In the Premiership CELTIC have now won their 5th league game at home, against HEARTS winning 2-0. Celtic are now on a total of 17 goals and have now scored in all of their 6 league/cup games. Hearts picked up their fourth blank of the season and now 2 in a row. RANGERS won 1-0 away to Dundee Utd and are on a total of 11 goals. After they had failed to score in their last 3 league games, ROSS COUNTY won their very first league game 2-0 at home against DUNDEE. County are on a total of 13 goals. Dundee after a goals run of 9 league/cup games, picked up their first blank of the season. KILMARNOCK have still yet to win a league game, drew 2-2 away to St Mirren and are on a total of 3 goals. 

In the Championship FALKIRK are now top of the table and have now won all 5 league games as they win 2-0 away to Airdrieonian. Falkirk have now scored in all of their last 8 league/cup games and are on a total of 24 goals.

In League One COVE RANGERS picked up their biggest result of the season after they won 3-1 away to Kelty Hearts. Rangers are on a total of 12 goals and they have now scored in all of their last 7 league/cup games. STENHOUSEMUIR lost 3-0 away to Montrose and picked up their fifth blank of the season.

In League Two, PETERHEAD are still top of the table after they won 2-1 at home to Stirling and are now on  a total of 15 goals. EAST FIFE are in second place after they lost 2-1 away to  Stranraer. East Fife are now on a total of 24 goals and a goal run of 8 league/cup games. CLYDE drew 1-1 at home against Edinburgh City and picked up their 13th goal of the season.

Our best performing team is now FALKIRK after they have now scored in all of their last 8 league/cup games. They have a total of 24 goals which gives them an average score of 2.4 goals per game.

Our worst performing team is STENHOUSEMUIR this weekend after they picked up 5th blank score sheet from 10 league/cup games. They have a total of 15 goals.

Our highest goal-scoring team in our 42nd Season are DUNDEE. They won 7-1 away to Bonnyrigg Rose in the Scottish League Cup in the very first game in the first round group stages.

DAVID BARRETT is at the top for his sixth consecutive weekend even though he picked up just 3 goals this weekend. David’s teams are Burnley, Dundee and Manchester City. He lead has been cut down to 8 goals clear of  GUY DOWSETT (2) as he picked up 4 goals this weekend. His teams are  Arsenal, Celtic, and East Fife.

At the other end at 114 we now have ALFIE DIMMOCK has become our fourth player to reach rock bottom this season, Alfie picked up just 1 goal over the weekend. His teams are Arsenal, Bolton and Leeds United.
