Week Seven

In Week Seven of the competition, we were back to our normal £5 Weekend Jackpot and we had 2 players to share the cash. This now brings our winners total to 8 and our winners are CHRIS SETFORD and RICKY WOOD our 2007/08 joint Champion both winning on a score of 12 goals each.

Chris has been with Golden Goals for a long time now but last season he finished in 67th place with a total of 286 goals. This season, Chris has been as high as 16th place in Week One. This is his personal best and he has picked up just 1 blank score sheet at the weekend. His best team is Celtic.

Ricky became joint Champion in our 2007/08 Season finishing with a total of 293 goals. He is currently in 33rd place in our Champions League. Last season he finished in 30th place with a total of 308 goals. This season Ricky has been as high as 6th place in Week One. This is also his personal best and he has also picked up just 1 weekend blank score sheet. Our winners teams are

100 MIDWEEK GOALS JACKPOT

There was another slight change in the race for the 100 Midweek Goals Jackpot once again this week, as we had more of our teams in action. It was STUART KEMP that picked up the most amount of midweek goals with 9. They came from both of his combinations one and two as they both have Manchester United and Tottenham. His first has Middlesbrough while his second has Peterborough. We have a new leader in the race this week with BARBARA BARNES (2) with a total of 25 goals. Down to second place we have last weeks leader, DAVID BARRETT remaining with a total of 24 goals. In third place with 17 goals we still have CHARLIE FARLEY (John Wood) In fourth place with 15 goals each we still have GUY DOWSETT (1) and PHIL COLLINS, but they are now joined with MICHAEL FISHER. In fifth place we still have GUY DOWSETT (2) and joining him we have STURAT KEMP (1). Both with a total of 14 goals.

WEEKEND RESULTS

We are back to a near full league fixture again this weekend and we had just 1 of our teams without a game over the weekend. We had another 13 of our teams that failed to score any goals. This means that our weekend average score was a lot better than last weekend's with 7 goals. The highest score over the weekend was 5 goals and we had two of our teams that picked them up. They are BOLTON and CELTIC. Lets get on with the results to see how your teams have performed over the weekend.

PREMIER LEAGUE

MANCHESTER CITY stay top after they drew 2-2 at home to ARSENAL, City have now scored in all of their 5 league games and are on a total of 13 goals. Arsenal have also scored in all of their 5 league games and are on a total of 8 goals. It’s 10 goals for LIVERPOOL after they won 3-0 at home to AFC BOURNEMOUTH. Bournemouth picked up their third blank of the season and now 2 in a row. TOTTENHAM won 3-1 at home to Brentford and are now on a total of 11 goals. WEST HAM lost 3-0 at home to London rivals CHELSEA and picked up their first blank of the season after a goal run of 5 games. Chelsea have taken their goals total to 11. It’s 10 goals for ASTON VILLA as they win 3-1 at home to Wolves. NEWCASTLE lost 3-1 away to Fulham and have now scored in all of their 6 league/cup games. They are on a total of 8 goals. It’s 10 goals for LEICESTER CITY after they drew 1-1 at home to Everton. SOUTHAMPTON have still yet to win a game as they drew 1-1 at home to IPSWICH TOWN. Southampton are on a total of 8 goals while Ipswich picked up their fifth goal of the season. CRYSTAL PALACE drew 0-0 at home against MANCHESTER UNITED. Both teams picked up their second blank of the season.

CHAMPIONSHIP

NORWICH CITY won 4-1 at home to Watford and are now on a total of 12 goals. It’s 10 goals for MILLWALL as they drew 1-1 away to QPR. MIDDLESBROUGH picked up their third blank score sheet after they lost 1-0 away to Sunderland. OXFORD UNITED lost 2-1 away to Bristol City and are on a total of 12 goals. BURNLEY won 2-1 at home to PORTSMOUTH and are on a total of 13 goals while Portsmouth hit goal number 7. LEEDS UNITED won 2-0 away to Cardiff and are on a total of 9 goals. It’s 10 goals for SWANSEA after they won 2-1 away to Coventry. LUTON TOWN won 2-1 at home to Sheffield Wednesday and are on a total of 6 goals. SHEFFIELD UNITED won 1-0 at home to Derby and are on a total of 13 goals. After they had scored in all of their last 5 league/cup games, PRESTON NE picked up their third blank score sheet as they drew 0-0 at home to Blackburn Rovers.

LEAGUE ONE

WREXHAM are still top of the table after they won 2-1 at home against Crawley. Wrexham are on a total of 16 goals and have now scored in all of their last 5 league/cup games. After they had failed to score in their last 2 games, BOLTON picked up their biggest win of the season after they won 5-2 at home to Reading. Bolton have taken their goals tally to 10. BARNSLEY won 2-1 away to Burton and are on a total of 14 goals after they had failed to score in their previous 2 games. CHARLTON lost 2-1 at home to BLACKPOOL an picked up their seventh goal of the season. Blackpool are on a total of 17 goals. HUDDERSFIELD lost 3-1 at home to Northampton but keep their 100% scoring record after 8 league/cup games.  Huddersfield are on a total of 16 goals. It’s 10 goals for PETERBOROUGH after they won 3-2 at home to Bristol Rovers. BIRMINGHAM won 2-0 away to Rotherham and are on a total of 14 goals.

LEAGUE TWO

CHESTERFIELD drew 1-1 at home to Cheltenham and are on a total of 11 goals. AFC WIMBLEDON drew 0-0 away to Bradford and picked up their second blank of the season. After a goal run of 7 league/cup games, BROMLEY picked up their first blank of the season after they lost 1-0 away to Grimsby. MK DONS drew 1-1 at home to DONCASTER and are on a total of 6 goals while Doncaster are on 13. NOTTS COUNTY lost 1-0 at home to Gillingham and picked up their second blank of the season.

SCOTTISH LEAGUES

In the Scottish League Cup Quarter-Finals we had 4 of our teams left in the cup and out of them only 2 have made it into the Semi-Finals. They are RANGERS who won 3-0 at home against DUNDEE. Rangers are now on a total of 14 goals while Dundee picked up their second consecutive blank score sheet. CELTIC won 5-2 at home against FALKIRK. With their biggest result to date, Celtic have taken their goals tally up to 22 goals and they have extended their goal run to 7 league/cup games. Falkirk are on 26 goals and they have now scored in all of their last 9 league/cup games. 

In the Premiership Celtic have remained top this weekend. After they had failed to score in their previous 2 games, HEARTS lost 2-1 away to St Mirren and are on a total of 3 goals. ROSS COUNTY drew 3-3 at home to St Johnston and have taken their goals tally up to 16 goals.

In League One COVE RANGERS drew 1-1 away to Inverness CT and are on a total of 13 goals and they have now scored in all of their last 8 league/cup games. STENHOUSEMUIR drew 0-0 at home to Queen of the South and picked up their sixth blank of the season and now 2 in a row.

In League Two, PETERHEAD are still top of the table after they lost 2-0 away to EAST FIFE in second place. Peterhead picked up their fourth blank of the season while Fife are on a total of 26 goals and a goal run of 9 league/cup games. CLYDE drew 0-0 at home against Elgin and picked up their fourth blank of the season.

Our best performing team is now FALKIRK after they have now scored in all of their last 9 league/cup games. They have a total of 26 goals which gives them an average score of 2.4 goals per game.

Our worst performing team is STENHOUSEMUIR this weekend after they picked up 6th blank score sheet from 11 league/cup games. They have a total of 15 goals.

Our highest goal-scoring team in our 42nd Season are MANCHESTER UNITED after they won 7-0 at home to BARNSLEY in the Carabao/League Cup 3rd Round in Week Seven. DUNDEE won 7-1 away to Bonnyrigg Rose in the Scottish League Cup in the very first game in the first round group stages.

BARBARA BARNES (2) is at the top this weekend and becomes only the second player to do so. Barbara picked up a total of 14 goals this week and is just 1 goals clear of last weeks leader David Barrett. Barbara’s teams are Celtic, Falkirk and Manchester United. David now in second place as he picked up just 4 goals at the weekend. His teams are Burnley, Dundee and Manchester City.

At the other end at 114 we now have MANDY WRIGHT who become our fifth player to reach rock bottom, Mandy’s teams failed to pick up any goals over the weekend. Her teams are Bournemouth, West Ham and AFC Wimbledon.
